Recover Issues HP Pavilion g7-1227nr

I have an HP Pavilion g7-1227nr running Windows 7 64-bit. I really need to format at least my C: drive back to factory state / when I bought it. When I try to do f11 system recovery on boot on the bottom left is says "f11...System Recovery" and does not change no matter the waiting time. So I used the HP Recovery Manager installed with the computer. It says "(Disabled: Recovery Partition  is Removed)" under the System Recovery box. I would like to know is there a way I can restore this "Recovery Partition" or is this a Disk Needed issue? I never removed the Recovery Partition to my knowledge or purposely. If I have to get a windows 7 disk just let me know approx. how much that costs and if I could get a discount or even for free because I have the computer. I know it's my responsibility to not mess with things like that and I honestly don't remember doing so. But if there is ANY way, ANY way at all to restore this Recovery Partition PLEASE let me know. I would be very grateful.

Hi:
The only way I know of to install a recovery partition is to purchase a set of recovery disks which will reinstall your OS and recreate the recovery partition.
Below is the link for info on how to order recovery disks.
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=bph07143&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en
I may have a temporary work around until you get your disks, or you can use it as a permanent solution...
If you can read the 25 character Microsoft windows 7 product key, you can download plain Windows 7 ISO files to burn to a DVD for the version of windows that came installed on your PC, and that is listed on the Microsoft COA sticker on your PC's case.
Burn the ISO using the Burn ISO option on your DVD burning program and burn at the slowest possible speed your program will allow. This will create a bootable DVD.
Use the 25 character product key on the PC to activate the installation.
The key will activate either a 32 or 64 bit installation.
Then go to the PC's support and driver page to install the drivers you need.
Link to the W7 ISO file downloads is below.

  • Creating Recover Disc - HP Pavilion 17 - I'm a novice at this and really need support

    I downloaded information and directions for doing this procedure from the HP website.  I have a couple of questions to clarify some of my concerns.
    1. Using dvd - is the writable dvd the same one you would use for burning videos or different?
    2. I just now learned that this procedure should have been done right after I purchased the computer.  The only information I have on my PC are my emails.  I have not bought any software yet. Just have the factory installed stuff.  My question regarding this is in the article that states it will not save all software  but you can save software to a system image using windows 8 to crate a system image. I have instructions to do that but ned opions on whether I shuld just do it for only  my files emails) or do it for drivers, windows, system settings programs files:  .  It also states the following which is very confusing to me that HP recovery restores the software image to its original condition.  Any software that was installed later is removed when you perform an HP recovery.  Does this mean if I do the HP recoveering first that I will lose my emails as well as the favorites bar that I have created for ease of connecting to important websites without typing in the address.  It was created for me and is installed with my verizon internet provider screen.
    3.  I have an ALERT stating that windows 8 update hangs at 12% 13% 14% or 15%.  This alert appeared on the HP Product detection/HP warranty results website and also another website that I don't remeber.  What does this mean?  I have no idea if I'm suppose to do something.
    I really need your help and opinions on how I should proceed on the above problems.

    Thank you so much for your quick reply.  I do have some questions/comments to verify that I understand your responses.
    1.  DVD's - I understand that I should use the best discs that will work in my DVD, such as Verbatim, Sony, etc.
    In addition to that is there any other preferences for the actual DVD, such as for using on a 64-bit process that I have on my notebook, speed, other important features? No, just get good quality DVD +R or -R discs. Sony usually works well for me.
    2.  I unerstand that the actual creation of  the recovery disc will in no way affect my added software and created documents such as my e-mails, and favorites bar,  etc, that it only covers the factory installed items..Correct. Using the discs to restore/reinstall on the laptop puts it back to out of box state.With this procedure many people use a regular backup of files to put back on the machine after a factory Recovery.An external USB Hard drive is very nice for this,but backups can also be done on DVDs.
    3.  Creating a system image - am I correct in assuming this process does not duplicate any of the items in the created recover discs?  Also, as you add more info such as software, douments, etc. to your computer requires another system  image creation. It duplicates items in Recovery such as  Windows,drivers & software- but is also an exact copy of the hard drive with your added files, newly installed programs, photos,etc. All of your personal files + the files in Recovery Discs are in an Image. Opposite effect of restoring with Recovery Discs-this process restores laptop with original Windows,software & drivers plus your added files. And yes- additional Images would be needed to keep an up to date image.
    4. USB Flash drive - I have no idea what this is but I have instructions for using this procedure for creating recovery image to a use flash drive and that it is a faster process than using DVD's.  Is the USB flash ddrive something that I have to purchase, is it expensive and does my PC have the capability of using this process? Your laptop has capabilty to make Recovery on USB- but actually this process is giving owners more trouble than DVDs. Many times resulting in buying several flash drives before finding one that works. My advice-stck with DVDs.
    Thanks for your help.

  • Recovering BIOS on Pavilion DV6z-3000 Notebook

    Due to a wide array of bizzare hardware behavior, I decided to flash the HP Pavilion DV6z-3000's bios. The device hung during the flashing process. Now I can't get it to boot. How to I recover the BIOS?

    I have never used the USB method so am not able to offer much on it. If you are following the procedure outlined at bottom of page on the link I posted earlier and it is not working ..I am at a loss.Only other thing I can think to try is maybe removing the hdd during the process.
    ````````````````````````````````````````````
    If the HP_TOOLS volume on your HDD has been deleted, a USB key with an HP_TOOLS volume can be used as an alternative. The key can be created manually or by using the HP UEFI BIOS Update SoftPAQ or the new HP UEFI Support Environment SoftPAQ and selecting the Create a USB key option. The USB key does not have to be bootable. However, this assumes the boot block is not corrupted in which case a repair is required.
    To recover the BIOS on your notebook using the USB key:
    Plug the notebook into an AC adapter.
    Insert the USB key with HP_Tools installed into an available USB port.
    Press the Power button while holding the Windows key and the B key.
    The emergency recovery feature replaces the BIOS with the version on the USB key. The computer reboots automatically when the process is completed successfully.
  • Sound Issues HP Pavilion dv6-6158nr Entertainment Notebook PC
    Hello,
     I have HP Pavilion dv6-6158nr Entertainment Notebook PC with Windows 7 Pro 64-bit OS. Recently I noticed issues with how my volume control works. I am not sure if it's an application issue (Firefox 9/10) or audio drivers. While watching playing an audio file or watching video my default playback device is set to speaker, but as soon as I plugin my headphones both headphones and speakers will go to mute. Some times disabling and re-enabling the device will solve this issue, and other than that I also have to restart Firefox to get the sound back.
     Tried installing all the available updates form windows, also reinstalled/update the sound drivers as n admin with no possible fix. Also as shown in picture below, when I try to make a Google call using Firefox I use built-in mike an headphones. During that time headphones icon will be appeared in the window shown below listed as communication device and disable both audio in/out.
    Let me know if any further information is required.
    Thanks.
    First uninstall the audio driver:
    Click Start and type device in the search field, then select Device Manager. >> Audio, video and game controlar >> right click and uninstall all values under it >> restart >> download and install the following drivers:
  • Multiple issues with Pavilion x2 11
    I have just bought HP Pavilion 11-h003sa x2 PC in my local Currys store. It was a display model, so they gave me full insurance for 1 month for free. I'd like to know if with the following issues I should return it all together, or send it for replacement, or there are some ways to solve those issues.
    1. Icons and windows shadowing.
    If I have some windows open even for a few seconds, and then the screeen change to the plain one color, you can still see the shadows of the icons and windows that were open.  The effect disappears when the screen change to black, or some moving graphics are displayed.
    2. Sleep not working
    After update to Windows 8.1 sleep function is not working. The screen turns off, but to turn it on again, you have to hold power for 10 sec. and then push it once again and whole system reboots. I'm using the most recent graphic drivers from your web page.
    3. Bios update issue
    I have updated the laptop with the most recent Bios from the HP webpage. It all worked smoothly, after reboot it started counting and then asked "[Flash Dock EC]? ". If I pick yes, it updates something with percents, when it finish, laptop reboots and asks again. If I pick no, it goes straight to system, if I pick yes, percents go again. I tried to put all Bios versions you have on your webpage since and it didn't fixed it. I tried to apply them both through Windows exe and through HP Built in recovery tool. Bios starts after this question, so it's not a Bios issue. The only way to not see it on start is to unplug screen from keyboard. It's quite annoying.
    Please tell me if there is any fix for those issues, or should I just return the laptop, or should I get a new one, since otherwise it's a nice piece of equipment and I'd love to keep it.
    Hello MikeGold, welcome to the HP Forums.
    I see that you have a few issues with your notebook. I will try to help you with them.
    Provided that you can still boot into your notebook (as you were having issues with the BIOS), make sure that all Windows updates have been completed. Then check to see if anything can be updated through the HP Support Assistant.
    1. This could be an issue with the actual display or graphics driver. If this wasn't updated at all from above. Please start by making sure this has updated. You can do so by going to this link Intel High-Definition (HD) Graphics Driver. Also, make sure that the chipset driver's up to date: Intel Chipset Installation Utility and Driver.
    To look into issues with the display, this may also help: Resolving Problems with Notebook Displays (steps can be done with Windows 8.1).
    2. The previous updates may have already helped or corrected this issue. If it hasn't start by checking power management settings. Make sure that you're using the recommend setting. From there follow this document : Resolving Problems with Sleep and Hibernate Modes (Windows 8).
    3. I have two documents for you in regards to this task: Updating the BIOS, will help you on how to up date the BIOS (if still having issues, I recommend contacting support for help with this). To restore the BIOS back (if you choose to not update): Restoring the BIOS.
    Please let me know how everything goes and provide details on any issues that remain (if there are any).
    Thank you for posting on the HP forums.
  • Battery Issue - HP Pavilion dv6 - White Light Flashes 3 times; Won't power on without cord
    Hello,
    I am having the following issue:
    - Computer fell off bed (2ft high).
    - Press power button (without the power cord plugged in), computer does not turn on and the LED light next to the battery port flashes white 3 times
    - Press power button (with the power cord plugged in), computer turns on. For 30 seconds to 1 minutes, the battery icon says 0% charged. After approximately 1 minute, the battery icon says "Fully charged 100%". When I unplug the power cord, my laptop scrren goes black and shuts down (but it takes a few seconds before you hear the fan and internal parts stop)
    this may be unnecessary information:
    - I replaced the battery a couple of months ago
    - my laptop will turn on if I remove the battery, plug in the laptop and power it on
    I've tried a hard reset already but nothing changed - issue persists.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    - Logan
    Hi Jeorgie,
    I have an HP Pavilion dv6t-3100 CTO Entertainment Notebook PC running Windows 7.
    As you suggested, I went through the troubleshooting steps in the following document:
    http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c00821536/
    When I ran the battery test on the Battery Test page, I got the following message:
    Although, the message tells me to replace the battery, I'm not sure that a replacement will correct the problem.
    As I type this message on my laptop, I have left the power cord unplugged the entire time, but the battery icon says 0% and my computer hasn't shut down; the white LED next to the charging port has been flashing continuously (with a frequency just under 1 second):
    It's as if there is an internal component in the laptop that cannot recognize that the battery is present and charged.
    I also checked the latches on the battery and laptop chassis to make sure there is nothing broken there. Everything seems to be in normal condition.
    What do you suggest as the next course of action? Perhaps there is an internal compnenet that I can run a test on before I go out and purchase a new battery?
    Thank you,
    Logan
  • Motherboard issue on Pavilion dv6700
    Hello,
    My HP Pavilion dv6700 (6810us) has been acting up and on Monday would not start up at all. A local IT guy said it was an overheating motherboard issue. Will HP fix this for free? When I try to start it up (while plugged in or not plugged in) it sounds like it is going to and shuts off after 1-2 seconds and then 5 or so seconds later it will automatically try again and keep on trying until I take the battery out to stop it. The IT guy said it was "inadequate heatsinking on the CPU and GPU" which led to overheating.
    Thank you,
    Ali
    alivk,
    I really don't know.  You'll have to contact HP by phone and setup the repair to find out.  There are other places that repair the system boards on these models besides HP though.
  • Clean install of Windows 7 Pro or Enterprise creates update issues on Pavilion G6 notebooks
    Hello,
    Our small company has 5 older HP Pavilion g6 notebooks running Window 7 Home edition.  We wanted to make them, and a few other Acer laptops, part of our domain.  So, we did a clean install of Windows 7 Pro (you can't upgrade with a volume license key).  After the install, the HP laptops have windows update issues and currupt installs.  The Acer laptops installed with no issues.   I've tried installing the Enterprise version with the same results.  I tried installing from dvd and usb, both with the same results.  Any idea?
    Thank You
    Hi, Sorry for the late reply. It seems to be kinda stable now.  Updates would never work from the getgo.  I had to reinstall update agent a few times and run the update troubleshooter found here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/gp/windows-update-issues/en-us  Until I got it working, I used Autopatcher to install updates. However, the computer isn't stable enough though to allow someone to use it for work.  I don't recommend doing a clean install on these machines.
  • Laptop sounds like it is going to explode! Windows 10 sound issue HP Pavilion G7
    Okay, so on the 29th I updated 2 laptops, one of them an HP G7, to Windows 10 from windows 7. Had very minor issues, including the microphone and webcam not working on it. Haven't found a solution to that one yet, but 2 days ago, a new issue appeared after I rebooted (and I assume a windows update was done). There is a constant sound coming from my speakers that sounds like the computer is about to explode! It is horribly loud and doesn't respond to any sound controls including mute. So I rebooted into safe mode and disabled the speakers in device manager. Rebooted to normal and no noise - no sound at all now of course, but no issue and everything is working fine. Today, Windows did another update so I figured perhaps it had fixed the issue...nope! As soon as I enable the device, boom! Sounds like a super high/fast helocopter has moved into my laptop's case! Scared the heck out of one of my cats it is so loud! So I disabled the driver again, rebooted and noise is gone along with sound capabilities.  So right now no sound, no microphone or webcam working on my computer. Yes, I tried updating the drivers (says they are up to date). Troubleshooting tells me device is disabled (well, duh!).  I also tried uninstalling the audio drivers and reinstalling to no avail.  Devices I've disabled are the IDT high definition audio codec with driver version 6.10.6392.0.  I also disabled the Intel Display audio with driver version 6.14.0.3097 for good measure. I left that one disabled and only tried enabling the IDT though when I still had the big noise this am.  My computer is a Pavilion g7 2070ur I think it is??? (hard to read even with my glasses on ) Its on Windows 10 Home 64 bit and I have 6 GB ram.  Processor is intel core i3-2350m cpu @2.30 ghz  Anyone have ideas???
    I bet the mortgage you have a 40 gig HD. They were weaker than the winner of the weakest weed in the world competition.
    Remove Battery. Switch it on. Firewire it up to your buddy's mac and download everything you need. Get a new HD (80 gig was much better (and quicker)) and you'll be fine and dandy.
    You'll need a new battery too.
    $200 well spent I don't think. Apple should own up to the dreadful HD issues surrounding the 40 gig models - should live 5-6 years, mostly they live 2-3 (according to the repairer that fixed mine after only 18 months of minor use!)
    Music to Dell's Vista loving ears no doubt!
  • GTX 670 stopped working, successfully recovered issue
    Not sure if anyone experienced the following and have solution but any advice would be great.
    I recently purchased a GTX 670, did a format and everything was working fine but as of yesterday I keep getting 'Display driver NVIDIA Windows Kernel Mode Driver Version 314.22 has stopped working and recovered'. I get the error message as soon as I boot up, no applications or games loaded, it just crashes on desktop.
    I download MSI Afterburner to check the temps and noticed that if I leave the PC idle the GPU will hit 99% and as soon as I click on the mouse, it will drop back down to idle and I will get the 'Display driver NVIDIA Windows Kernel Mode Driver Version 314.22 has stopped working and recovered'.
    I tried the most recent drivers and the last 5 versions of Nvidia drivers but that made no different.
    Nothing has been installed or uninstalled for the past week.
    Thanks
    Have the same issue, but the steps taken to reproduce this error is slightly different, computer was working fine the day before and this issue only arised yesterday without me installing or doing anything to the computer in the time inbetween.
    PC specs
    Gigabyte Z77X-UD5H
    Gskill 8GB ram (can't remember the model, at work now)
    MSI GTX 670 OC edition
    Intel I5 3570K i think
    Windows 8
    OS HDD - Crucial M4 128gb
    Steps :
    1.)Was watch youtube on 1080p yesterday and after ~40 minutes; nearing the end of 40 mins, the video and sound slows to a crawl where each spoken word was produced one at a time
    2.)Closed the browser (firefox)and the PC had stuttering issues - Cursor freezed for a good 20 seconds and then became normal again whereupon after 2-3 minutes of normal usage it freezes up again (Noticed that the CPU was running a full load after each freeze for a good 1-2 seconds)
    3.)After 5-6 minutes of stuttering a windows notification comes up and says that Nvidia 314.22 kernel mode has crashed and has been recovered (Only able to reproduce this twice, it never appears again)
    4.)Thereafter I launched a game to try to see if it was an isolated issue with the browser/plugin - less than 10 minutes of playthrough, the game hanged with looped sound and freezed screen, bringing up the Ctrl - Alt - Del menu and selecting task manager brings a black screen and the PC restarts on its own
    5.)Proceeded to do a clean uninstall of the 314.22 drivers and installed the 306.97 driver provided by MSI
    6.)Updated the SSD firmware
    7.)Same issue ingame after that, intermittent screen freezes where after close to 8 minutes of play, screen froze and sound looped
    Solutions tried but failed -
    1.)Updating SSD firmware
    2.)Rolling back of drivers - the kernel mode recovery notification no longer appears but the pc just freezes and sound loop outright ingame
    3.)Trying to locate the malware(Manual search for the file and using Malwarebytes)  - Iehighutil.exe but none found, gpu load and temp looks normal in gpu-z when the freezes occur
    Have no idea why this error arised, nothing was installed/changed between the time it was fine and the error arose. Have read that it could be the windows update KB2807986 but i doubt so as that's for windows 7?
    Power supply seems to be fine as well, have not run memtest on ram but i doubt its the ram - seeing as how the notification mentioned nvidia driver kernel mode.
    Please help or try to provide solutions that are feasible if possible.
    Thank you and sorry for the lengthy post.
