A person at my dorm pranked me and deleted one of my games. When I re-download it, all my data is gone.
Is there any way to recover the data?

Unless a hard drive was securely erased when reformatted, it is possible to recover data stored on the drive before it was reformatted only if the portion of the drive where the data was previously stored has not been overwritten by new data.
If this is possible with the iPod, the longer you continue to use your iPod before an attempt is made to recover the deleted data with a data recovery utility, the greater the chances the area on the flash drive where the data was previously stored will be overwritten by new data.

That data would be in your backup. If you have a very recent backup - and I mean very recent - you can restore from that backup in order to recover all of your app data.

It was in recovery mode. Once in recovery mode, there is nothing left on the device to back up, so yes, you lost everything since the last backup. And no, you can not recover lost data that was not backed up. It's gone.

Recovering address book data without erasing new one

Dear all,
I have a PowerBook G4 that I use while traveling and a dual G5 at my desk. I've recently upgraded to 10.5 erasing all data on my computers, but not without backing it up. Now I want to recover some contacts that I had in my G4, adding it to my G5, without erasing the data I currently have.
I have found the old AddressBook.data of my PB (created with 10.4.10), but cannot find any way to retrieve the data I'm looking for. Can anyone help me?

I had a username and password on my account, and I thought that'd be enough to access my data. After wiping my laptop and reinstalling windows and firefox, I found this was not the case. Either you will have to restore something on the phone before you can sync it or your only other alternative if you deleted everything without a backup is to restore the phone as new.

Basically, a couple weeks ago my iPod 4th gen died.
I went out to buy a new charger. This charger worked for a while, but then stopped.
Every time I plugged it in, it would show me the screen that indicates
that I have to connect my iPod to iTunes.
So, I bought a new charger and used it to connect to iTunes,
only to find out that my iPod was in Recovery Mode!
The only option was to restore it. I tried to back it up, however the options
were all greyed out. A pop-up indicated that I could get my contacts and what not
back after the restore, so I did it.
After the restore, my iPod went back to the factory settings.
I was happy, thinking that there was a backup of all my photos saved to my computer.
Yet when I check iTunes, I could not restore the backup!
I am honestly so devastated. I could care less about the contacts and apps, but I had
pictures of my younger cousins and family collected for over 4 years.
I'd really love to get these back. I tried using those recovery programs, but nothing
worked for me! I also tried to get a back up from an older computer I used, but it said that I'd
never done a back up on that computer.
This whole situation has upset me, I'm not sure of what to do now.
I just really want those photos back.

Most likely, you will lose everything. Data, photos, installed apps (they still are in iTunes, btw), etc.
Unless you had flagged to sync your photos on iTunes: you can found them (at least, the last synced ones) in the folder you told to store photo data.
If you using a Mac, check your iPhoto app, or Pictures folder. If windows, check your Images folder, to see if they were in. Good luck!

Need help, I want to know if these apps could be removed and reinstall without loose my game saved data? Could I recover my saved data somehow?

I have an iPhone 4 32GB bb 02.10.04 running at 4.1 version.
The PC which I used to synced it is now formatted. Then when I selected to sync my apps it ask to remove them and install those saved on my PC.
The question is this games apps would be possible to recover my saved game data: GunBros., GlobalWar HD, OriginalGangstaz HD, MafiaWars ID, StreetRacing, and MegaJump.
Please help. Let me know how I would be able to do it.

You can just reatore from backup. If you restore via iTunes all yur synced media like apps and music has to be in the iTunes library since synced media is not included in the backup
If you restore from iClould backup only iTunes purchases are restore.

I formatted my computer without backup all of my favourites in Firefox. I have Firefox sync account set up before that between the 2 computers but both of them have formatted. Now, how do I get the data out from my Sync account? Did Firefox save my data on their server and how can I check that?

Recover Database without backup

Hi Joel,
I have read most of your postings regarding database recovery, but still encounter problems.
The background is: Our NT server was crashed last weekend, due to harddisk failure. We are able to retrieve back all the datafile, control file, everything in tact. But after recovery, the OS fails to recognize the ORacle and require reinstallation. We don't know how to re-associate this new instance of Oracle with the old databases that we have created.
I did create a new DB in the new instance, copy back the datafiles, control files to replace it, and run the recreate control file command that you have suggested. At the very final step, when doing recovery, it shows this message:

if the datafile does not contains tables that are needed for some application , or not belong to system,sysaux tablespace , offline datafile can be some solution.
To recover a datafile without backup you need alll the archives from the date that the datafile is created.

Are you sure? I restored my new iPod from the backup of my iPad and all app data was restored to the new iPod.. App data is part of the backup.
