  • Can I recover non-backed up voice memos after accidental restore?

I went to the apple store genius bar when the camera is my phone ( (iOS6) was failing.  they asked if my phone was backed up and I said yes, but actually had not backed it up in 3 weeks.  I had unchecked the auto-sync button pn my ma because my hard drive was too full, and before going to the apple store, clicked on the Sync button, which is not the Backup button --so I screwed up and thought it was backed up.
I actually had 3 weeks of very important voice memos and have been trying to recover them ever since.  several geniuses said they thoguht there was software that would help, but I have had no luck.  an iphone engineer told me he didn't think it was possible.  clearly, if this was a regular hard drive or flash drive, it would be posisble to recover data after reformatting, as long as the data was not overwritten.  however, the iphone encryption seems to be the difference here.
since my phone still has the camera issue and was under warranty, apple has offered me a new phone but I have held off, as I still am trying to find a way to get my data.
anyone know how--or is it totally impossible?
    thanks

As long as you don’t disable the automatic sync option in iTunes, it will automatically generate a backup for your iOS device when you plug your device into your Mac or PC, and the backup file updates along with your every sync. So it is certainly sure and easy to restore iPhone from iTunes backup with Vibosoft iTunes data recovery. That is, you can recover your iPhone/iPad/iPod data from the recent iTunes backup whenever the data is missing.

  • Lost Voice Memos after iOS 8.1 Upgrade

I have lost all of my voice memos after upgrading to iOS 8.1.  I can't even find them when I restore from backup.  AND I can't access my backup via iCloud.  HELP!  These were irreplaceable memos.  Any suggestions?

Try Dr.Fone to scan your iPhone for the voice memos.

  • No voice memos after iPhone 6 sync

I just backed up my iPhone 4 and set up my iPhone 6, and none of my voice memos are appearing on the iPhone 6. Any suggestions?

It will happen automatically. iTunes always syncs voice memos to your iTunes library when you connect iPhone to your computer. All you can do is delete them or ignore them.
Keep in mind that if you delete a voice memo on iPhone, it isn’t deleted from the Voice Memos playlist in iTunes. However, if you delete a voice memo from iTunes, it is deleted from iPhone the next time you sync with iTunes.
The "Include voice memos" button in the iTunes Music pane for your phone is only for syncing your voice memos playlist back to the phone.

  • Voice Memo .mov files lost in iphone Limbo

    Hello.
After doing some research it appears that:
There is a bug with iphone (mine is 3g) that when voice memos are recorded they are recorded as .mov files, and then converted to .m4a.
I assume this is because .m4a is a more complex algorithm and the little iphone processor can only record .mov on the fly.
The issue is that if the iphone is interrupted in this process, you will have a voice memo that goes for 0 seconds and a .mov file on your iphone taking up space.
I noticed in iTunes that i had 3.9 GB of "Other" taking up space on my iphone. After using third party software, i looked into the files on the iphone and found that most of this space was being taken up by files in my "recordings" folder. I went into 'voice memos' on my iphone and individually** deleted all the voice memos (after backing them up) and freed up a significant amount of the 3.9 GB. However, there are still 1.2 GB of .mov files still taking up space on the iphone, and I cannot find a program that will let me delete the files (write to the iphone hard disk) and the iphone itself cannot recognise the files!
It seems the only way to delete the files is to Jailbreak. I don't want to jailbreak the phone, simply because i believe that when you pay for apple products, you are paying for a product that 'just works'. In other words, they have done all the trouble shooting and tweaking of things to make it all work seamlessly. Jailbreaking reopens the can of worms of software clashes, and you get back into the land of using a windows style system.
Does anyone have a way around this?
    I have iPhone 3g and Macbook 2.4ghz Core2Duo.

They won't sync back to your phone as far as I know. You can sync them from your phone to computer to listen to them in itunes. If you delete a voice memo on iPhone, it isn’t deleted from the Voice Memos playlist in iTunes. However, if you delete a voice memo from iTunes, it is deleted from iPhone the next time you sync with iTunes.
    You might try this:
In iTunes, select the voice memo you want on your phone, go to “Advanced” and select “Create MP3 Version”. See if you can sync that back to your phone.

  • Voice Memos show up twice on iPhone in iTunes

Hi. I recently had to reinstall Windows and therefore iTunes as well. iTunes wouldn't let me sync my music because the iPhone was being synced with another iTunes library on my PC (which I assume would be my old iTunes install). In order to get iTunes to allow me to sync again, I enabled and then disabled the manually manage songs option. Everything seems to be OK except for my Voice Memos.
When I switched to manual management of my songs, my voice memos were then treated as regular song tracks. I added them back to my iPhone manually along with my music and videos. Then I turned back on syncing (unchecked manually manage box). When I synced, the Voice Memos playlist was created again and in the playlist were all my Voice Memos, except for 2. Those 2 ones that are not showing in the Voice Memos playlist are the only two files that show up inside the Voice Memos app. Also now all my Voice Memos (except those 2 I just mentioned) show up twice in my Music category on iTunes.
Is there a way to make it so that the Voice Memos don't show up twice in iTunes, and to have all the Voice Memos be displayed in the Voice Memos app? I would rather the Voice Memos not show up in the Music app. I've already changed the Media Kind to "Voice Memo" and everything. No go...

Well, after unchecking the Voice Memo genre on the Music tab at the top on my iPhone when connected to iTunes, the Music category (on the left under my iPhone device) stopped showing the Voice Memos twice. They all show up once. The only problem is that now I can't access any of the Voice Memos on my iPhone! They're still on the device though since I can still play them by double-clicking on them in iTunes. Btw, the two recordings that previously showed up in the Voice Memo app are now gone as well...
If I recheck the Voice Memo genre so that it syncs with the rest of my music, the voice memos get copied onto my iPhone twice, eating up a lot of space! I think my Voice Memos are indeed syncing twice on my iPhone because the Other section is 5.24GB and the files on my PC are 2.62GB, exactly twice the amount of the memos on my PC.......

  • Voice Memos not syncing from my iPhone 3GS to my MacBook Pro. Sync music is ticked in iTunes along with include Voice Memos box

Hi, I am trying to get my voice memos from my iPhone 3GS to my MacBook Pro via iTunes and it is not working. I have ticked sync music in the music tab of the iPhone device and the include voice memos box is also ticked. So, apparently this should work, but there is no sign of the voice memos in iTunes or in the iTunes folder in the finder window. Any ideas much appreciated! :-) Thank you.

I've always had the "Include Voice Memos" option selected. I think that only pertains to syncing voice memos from iTunes to the iPhone after it has been copied to iTunes. It has to be the new OS/iTunes not communicating that new memos have been recorded. For some reason they won't sync when I want them to, and then a few syncs later they magically appear.
By the way, I'm VERY comfortable with the iTunes and iPhone systems. I've been using iTunes for 5 years, and I've been recording class lectures with the iPhone voice memo app (and another app) for a couple years. It's not an error of not seeing that the memos were added; they don't exist in my library or music folders.
JUST OUT OF CURIOSITY, POST WHICH FIRMWARE YOU ARE RUNNING EXACTLY!!!
I'm on an iPhone 4, running firmware 4.0.1

  • How do I get voice memos from an un-synced iPhone onto a MacBookPro?

How do I get voice memos from an un-synced iPhone onto a MacBookPro?
Problem: when I click Sync I get a warning stating "Are you sure you want to sync music? All existing songs and playlists on the iPhone “Jarrod Vassallo’s iPhone” will be replaced with songs and playlists from your iTunes library."
I don't care if the iPhone syncs with the laptop (and the music is lost), I just cannot afford to lose the Voice Memos too as they are very important. Any suggestions?

To follow this user tip using iTunes 11, fist go to View>Show Sidebar.  Also, Transfer Purchases (step 5) is now in File>Devices.
If they're too large to email and you don't want to sync, the only other option is to use 3rd party software to transfer them using usb, such as PhoneView (Mac only) or Touch Copy (PC or Mac).

  • HT1766 4 voice memos in iTunes backup from iPhone had ! marks and would not play so I deleted them and although they are still on the iPhone, they will not sync back to iTunes from iPhone.

4 voice memos in iTunes backup from iPhone had ! marks and would not play so I deleted them and although they are still on the iPhone, they will not sync back to iTunes from iPhone.

You may have to try deleting all the music from your phone (by going to Settings>General>Usage>Music, swipping All Music and tapping Delete), then sync it all back on with iTunes in order to fix this.

  • Deleted voice memos using Syncios. Now Voice Memos won't open and iPhone won't sync.

I deleted all voice memos from the iPhone using Syncios, and now I'm having the following issues:
    1) Voice Memos app is broken on iPhone. It opens and then immediately closes.
    2) Can't sync via iTunes! Get the following error message:
The iPhone "[iPhone Name]" could not be synced because the sync session failed to start.
    3) Syncios is not recognizing the device even when connected. Error message:
Device disconnected, please reconnect the device.
It looks like deleting the voice memos using Syncios did something else to the phone to break it.
    Please help ASAP.

Same problem here. I contacted Syncios and they opened a bug report, but I it seems that they don't have any workaround for the moment :-/
In my case, I also discovered that my iCloud backup was corrupted when restoring my iPhone 6 in order to "fix" all these problems (had to wipe my phone to use it again...)... So it's possible that this Syncios bug also damages iCloud/iTunes backups, which would be very embarassing for them.

  • Is there any way to recover a voice memo that was not backed up but accidentally deleted?

Today I accidentally deleted a very important voice memo in the blink of an eye. As I forgot to back it up I know this is probably not possible and I understand that. Is there any way to recover this?

I had exactly the same problem, I was trying with some software of wondershare but wasn't possible, so, it seems like we lost that important info!.

  • Recover deleted voice memos on iphone

    Hi there,
I wanted to trim 20 secs off a voice memo and deleted the 70min after instead. Besides paying for software to use via the mac to recover the file I wondered if there was a simple process via the iphone? btw the icloud voice memos was not on?
    Cheers
    Dom

I think the simplest way is to retrieve deleted voice memos on iPhone through computer, no apps on iPhone available now to do it.

  • Broken voice memos after sync -- any hope for recovery?

    Dear all,
I finally found where all my memos that I did not find in the Voice Memos playlist went. They were in the Unknown Album folder of Unknown Artist, being m4a files that iTunes could not analyze. These files appear to be really corrupted, as not even QuickTime opens them. This is bad, as I really would need all (these are all lectures from my last semester in school). Have you had any experience with files getting corrupted during sync, and do you have any tips to recover these?
In a bit more detail, I noticed some files missing, but as my mic had a flaky connection (Blue Mikey is said to have problems with a few iPods having unusual dock connectors), I cursed myself for not paying more attention. But now I see many more files, and I think the syncing processes during the semester sometimes went awry (the analysis of the files always takes very long, and sometimes updates disrupted the process, or I mistakenly put my MacBook to sleep).
Is there any way to recover the raw files from the iPod, or nothing else is available than the garbled sound files? If so, do you have any guess how I might still be able to open them? (Say, these are really mp3s, not m4as, so if I correct the file format... etc.)
Thank you very much, this would be really important!
    Laszlo

And backing them up by email is not an option, since some of the files are over 30 minutes long.

  • IPhone syncs Voice Memos after unchecking sync box in iTunes
