Recover offline files after offline restored

I have a user that had offline files turned on.  Some time later that server crashed and was replaced with a new one.
The user still had offline files turned on and it would fail to sync with the crashed server.   The user still was saving files to her offline folder.  Then we turned off offline folders and pointed it to the correct server. Now all the files
that were being saved during the time the server was gone are also gone.   So my question is.  Are those files lost or are they on the local computer hard drive and can they be recovered with a utility like csccmd?
thanks

Michael,
Select a clip in the Browser that is Offline.
Right click and choose the Reconnect to Media.
Navigate to to the real clip on your Scratch Disc.
The real clip is on the Scratch Disc.
FCE is non-destructive which means that everything in the Browser and Timeline are links to the Real clips stored on the Scratch Disc.
That's why when something like a clip name is changed outside of FCE the LINK is broken. FCE does not know the identity of the changed clip and where to find it. Reconnecting creates a new link (file path).

  • Recover a file after OS clean install

I did a clean install on macbook pro and did not take a good backup.
I have some pdf files that I really need it.
How do I recover those files after I already have done the clean install of OS?
    Thanks.

You can purchase file recovery software which may or may not be able to recover the file.
    Try http://subrosasoft.com/software/filesalvage
You can download a demo copy which will tell you what it will recover. Then you pay for the recovery.
What ever you do stop using the Mac. Any usage will only cause more files to get overwritten and be irrecoverable.

  • Error with Oracle temp file after Offline restore

    Hi,
I did a offline backup of my Oracle 9I database after shutting down the DB. After I restore the offline file system backup, I saw the following error in alter.log:
"ORA-01186: file 255 failed verification tests
ORA-01122: database file 255 failed verification check
    ORA-01110: data file 255: '/oracle/SED/sapdata1/temp_1/temp.data1'
ORA-01205: not a data file - type number in header is 0
File 255 not verified due to error ORA-01122"
When I did a query I got the following error :
    "SQL> select * from dba_temp_files;
    select * from dba_temp_files
    ERROR at line 1:
ORA-01187: cannot read from file 255 because it failed verification tests
    ORA-01110: data file 255: '/oracle/SED/sapdata1/temp_1/temp.data1'
I know how to recover it but Why is this so ? Is this normal when I restore the offline backup file including the temp.data1 ?
    Any reply is appreciated.

    Because you did something wrong.
This is just one more brilliant laser beam example of why RMAN is the only tool that should be used for backup and recovery once you are on 9i or higher versions.

  • Offline files after updating FCE

    Hello,
I just updated from FCE 3.0 to 3.5 and when I opened a project done on 3.0 I get offline files. I can't seem to reconnect the files. Can anyone walk me through the process? Did the updating cause the files to go offline? I don't recall moving them.
    Thanks,

  • How can I recover my game after I restored my iPad? The game was online so I thought it won't be affected even if I restore my ipad. After restoring, and downloading my game, it started to level 1. Please help. I've been playing that game for about a year

My game was 'fashion story' and currently level 90. But after I restored my iPad, it went back to level 1. Please please help

Do you have a backup of the device before you restored it? If you have a backup, try to restore the device from that backup.
If you don't, I doubt that there's anything anyone here can do for you. Seems as though your save game, (despite being an "online" game) was wiped out with the restore. I'd say the vast majority of online games still do keep your save data on the device and NOT in "the cloud".
In this case, a backup of the device would have helped you out...it's always wise to backup your device before proceeding with a restore, especially if you plan to restore the device as new.

  • Is it possible to recover project file after PSE 7 crashed?

I was drawing in PSE 7 using a Wacom tablet, and suddenly a popup said PSE has stopped working. Thought I clicked ignore or somehow get rid of the popup without closing it, but it closed. Is there any way to recover the file I was working on? Naturally, I hadn't saved it yet :-(. I tried to open "Recently Edited Files", but it only had the unedited version. Help
Also, anyone know how to get rid of the little tool option popup when I touch my pen to the tablet? It's driving me NUTS!
    Thanks

Had you saved the image files at any time before the crash?  If so, you can search your hard drive for them.
When Photoshop doesn't shut down properly, it retains very little.  I've even seen a crash make PS wipe my preferences and other settings to their factory state.

  • Is there a way to recover my files after resetting my computer?

I had forgotten my password, so I did the reset with the original software CD, and I did not realize it would wipe away all my files.  I am wondering if anyone knows of a way to recover my files that were on my hard drive?

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
Did you erase the hard drive? If not, your data should still be in your hard drive.
If you erased the hard drive, it's difficult to recover your files. An application like DiskWarrior may do the trick but it sometimes doesn't work. The best option is to take the hard drive to a company that recovers files, so there are more possibilities of getting the files recovered.
Also, make backups of your files. It's important to make them in order to prevent these cases

  • How do I recover these files after crash?

About a year ago I had a major HDD failure.  An expert tried to recover many of the damaged files & I have a file full on photos, videos & music.  If I do a major search most won't open in windows.
Is there any way to recover these files?
None would have had DRM on them?
Even thought the files display title of files has name of song, artist etc. & says they are MP3.  They were indeed MP3 file.
If I click on them with the medioinfo utility it says that they are AC3 file.  I know that they could not be AC3 because I only encounter this extension when I render out my Blu-rays?
Any Ideas as to how to recover this music?
    Thanks in advance

Often when people run out of room they follow advice that moves the media folder out to another drive but leaves the library files on the internal disk. If you followed this process then your media has been preserved but the library files containing your playlists, ratings, play counts etc. will have been lost. If you can find a backup copy of the library file then it should work as long as the drive with the media is given the same drive letter that it had previously.
iTunes gives each library a unique identity. When you connect a device that has been synced with one library to a different one iTunes will see they are different and propose to wipe the device and load it with the content of this "new" library. See this post for a suggested approach.

  • Recovering Audio File After Crash

I was using Soundtrack to record a microphone via my Presonus Firepod interface for a multi-day film shoot. All was going well until on the fourth day the program decided to lock up with I tried to stop the recording. The rainbow wheel spun forever and finally the program crashed. I reopened the session file and it showed that nothing was recorded.
However, when I look in the directory where the recorded audio files are saved, it shows a 300 mb .aiff file. When I play this file all I hear is white noise.
I've done some research and what I discovered is that it seems I need to add the proper header information to the file so it can be deciphered by an audio program.
I've been fooling around with a program called SoundHack trying to add the proper header information. Occasionally I can start to hear the recorded audio, but it's still covered with some static or has a really high pitch.
Any ideas how to recover the file? It's so frustrating because it seems like the data is there, it just can't be read properly!
    Thanks in advance!

You can't trun it off, but you can empty the reovery folder if you have a corrupt doc that keeps crashing on restart. The recovery folder, by default and unless you changed it, will be in the same location as the InDesign Defaults file and those paths are listed in the thread about trashing your prefs: Replace Your Preferences

  • Recover .TMP files on offline folders in Windows 7 Synch

    Hello.
I have a user with Windows 7 Pro and we set him up for offline folder synchronization.
Somehow several of his office docs disappeared and seem to have been replaced by several
.TMP files with similar sizes and dates.
We only keep 7 days worth of offline folder directory backups and when he told me his problem
it was too late to get them from the backup tapes.
Is there a way or a process to recover anything useful from these TMP files?
    Thanks

Have you restored your mistakenly deleted files back? I hope my answer is not too late.
In fact, after deleting something off from a drive or PC, the lost files are still recoverable, as long as they are not overwritten by anything new in the same place.
Therefore, if you really have not got your data back, you can also take chances with some data recovery tool like
Recuva, 4Card Recovery, iCare Data Recovery Free and more to restore your wanted files back.
No matter which tool you choose, you’d better not save all restored data on the same PC drive in case of any data recovery failure.
Note: Never forget to back up everything important all the time.

  • How do I recover my files after using time machine restore?

Hello guys! I have been using Time Machine to back up my Macintosh HD into an external disk in August this year. Considering the limited storage of my external disk, I have excluded all of my photos and musics to be backed up. Today I got some problems of my system and started using time machine to restore my computer to the state of August. After restoring, I found all of my photos and musics and other important files which have been excluded to be backed up by time machine are missing. What a disaster. Is there any way to recover all the missing files? Or is it possible to undo today's time machine recovery? Many thanks in advance!

many thanks for your reply. But for the current matter, do you have any other great ideas for me to take back all of my missing files. I will definitely buy a lager storage disk to back up all the files. But how could I solve the current issue? I have already tried the software you mentioned in the lien, it seems no help. Thank you anyway!

  • Restore programs and files after a restore to facory settings

When I suspected my hard drive was failing I tried recovery to factory settings, and when asked if I wanted a backup I agreed and after many hours, a backup was made and a restore to factory settings was done. I recovered the backup to my desktop, but before I move each of the folders to their rightful place (wherever that is) I wonder if an old windows image I have would be better to use? Will it restore programs without having to reinstall the. And restore my files to where they belong rather than on my desktop?

The windows backup image is not very flexible nor trustworthy from within the trade.
More knowledgeable users, as well as myself, use Macrium Free to perform Image Backups on a regular basis:
    http://download.cnet.com/Macrium-Reflect-Free/3000-2242_4-10845728.html?part=dl-&subj=dl&tag=button
The only problem with the free version is that you cannot backup individual files but you can with the paid version.
Suggest you check it out.  It is easy to use and very reliable.  It has saved me on a number of occasions.

  • Missing file after system restore

    Dear Sir,
today i performed on a tecra M2 a system restore, but suddenly the message came that i had to re-install the following file : <windows root>\system32\ntoskrnl.exe :
how do i do that : put in the recovery cd or just do a format of the disk with the recover cd ?
    thanks in advance
    drweekx

    Hi,
System restore is very helpful tools but it's not the magic bullet! :-)
Your file "ntoskrnl.exe" seems to be damaged and this file is very important for you OS!
You can try to start up the notebook and press "F8" key. Then you will enter a menu and you can choose the " Last known good configuration" and the VGA Mode.
If you have luck your notebook works after that else you only can recover the whole notebook! But if you have important data on the NB you should safe it to an external disk!
    Bye Chris

  • Help with iTouch sync new files after system restore

I just recently did a system restore on the iTouch, backed up my previous files & restored them to the iTouch with no problems however I am not able to sync the new apps, files, pod casts etc... that I purchased to the device after the erase & restore. But they are showing up on iTunes just not the iPod.
    Thanks for any help,

I don't have an answer to your question, maybe someone else does.
What I did want to comment on, though, is that surely it was unnecessary to
uninstall a program to speed up your computer? It would have been sufficient
to leave it on your harddrive and not run it--that doesn't take up any RAM.
It won't slow up your computer unless it has some components in the startup
    folder.

  • Recover lightroom files after backup

SO.  I backed up a week ago.  I've done a lot of work since then but I accidentally loaded the backup catalog (from a week ago) into Lightroom, which means I'm missing all the work I've done since that backup.  Is there a cache somewhere on my computer where I might be able to recover edits made since my last back up?

For some reason, the 'active' catalog disappeared under file>open>recent and only shows the backup catalog... so I'm wondering if there's a way to restore the active catalog or a cache where the past few days of work would be hiding.
