Recover render queue after crash.

I had queued up a series of exports which were busy being rendered in the background when the application crashed.
Upon the reopen the render queue is empty. These exports were being made on the fly and after each was added to the render queue I was clearing the timeline and starting from scratch. I assume FCPX must be saving these exports jobs to a file somewhere as it is able to continue processing the exports even when a completely diffferent project is loaded. So how can I revive them?

I always render with the BG Renderer script.  It will tell you how long each frame takes to render in the terminal.  It will also give you overall time at the end.  It automatically creates a text log of all of this info in your project folder, so you can refer to it at a later time and compare renders.  It costs money, but it's well worth it.

  • Recover iMovie project after crash?

After working on a video project for 20 hours and inserting over 50 slides into the video with custom Ken Burns' effects, iMovie unexpectedly crashed on me.  I was under the impression that iMovie '11 (9.0.4) backed up my work automatically much like Pages now does, so I didn't bother saving as I went (duhh!).  I only needed to insert the opening title for it to be complete.  I plugged in an external USB hard drive to check a file, and iMovie unexpecedly crashed.  The project reverted back to the last time I saved it a couple of days ago.  After recovering from the intial shock, I'm guessing that I've just learned a very hard lesson about saving and backing-up, but thought I'd throw this one out to the iMovie community to see if there's anything else I can check to possibly recover the project before I dig real deep and start all over agan.  Any ideas, or am I just out-of-luck?  -Bob-

Recover and open are different things.. are you trying to recover a project .. saved in TM backup.. then you need to restore the file.. you cannot open it from inside a TM backup.

  • MacBook Pro OSX 10.9.1 How to recover hidden files after crash?

After a crash of the HDD, the MBP needs to be reformatted. I've managed to transfer all the files to another mac (using 'T' while booting the MacBook Pro). Because I want to keep al my e-mails, I need to reach the hidden library. But in the transferred files, I can't find this hidden library. How can I get it to show up, so I can copy the Thunderbird file which contains all of the e-mails?
    Please, I'm desperate!

    Hi,
At least i'd like to try to reinstall OSX to the same HDD. It seems to be a software problem that occured after a check-up with DiscHelp (idk the specific term in english because I use the dutch version). While 'repairing' an error, a notification came up that said that it couldn't be repaired and that I had to back-up all of my files and reformat the HDD. Since then, if i try to boot up the system, the screen goes black in about 30 seconds.
The only backup I have is the direct copy I made booting up the MBP while pressing 'T' (while connected to another mac using a thunderbolt cable). So now I have a copy of the whole HDD. I tried to find the hidden ~library but i couldn't find it. In this library there are certain files i need to transfer the profile of my email. So yeah it's still readable, but as an external HDD, unfortunately not as a computer.
I really hope you can help me!

  • How do I recover these files after crash?

About a year ago I had a major HDD failure.  An expert tried to recover many of the damaged files & I have a file full on photos, videos & music.  If I do a major search most won't open in windows.
Is there any way to recover these files?
None would have had DRM on them?
Even thought the files display title of files has name of song, artist etc. & says they are MP3.  They were indeed MP3 file.
If I click on them with the medioinfo utility it says that they are AC3 file.  I know that they could not be AC3 because I only encounter this extension when I render out my Blu-rays?
Any Ideas as to how to recover this music?
    Thanks in advance

Often when people run out of room they follow advice that moves the media folder out to another drive but leaves the library files on the internal disk. If you followed this process then your media has been preserved but the library files containing your playlists, ratings, play counts etc. will have been lost. If you can find a backup copy of the library file then it should work as long as the drive with the media is given the same drive letter that it had previously.
iTunes gives each library a unique identity. When you connect a device that has been synced with one library to a different one iTunes will see they are different and propose to wipe the device and load it with the content of this "new" library. See this post for a suggested approach.

  • Recovering Audio File After Crash

I was using Soundtrack to record a microphone via my Presonus Firepod interface for a multi-day film shoot. All was going well until on the fourth day the program decided to lock up with I tried to stop the recording. The rainbow wheel spun forever and finally the program crashed. I reopened the session file and it showed that nothing was recorded.
However, when I look in the directory where the recorded audio files are saved, it shows a 300 mb .aiff file. When I play this file all I hear is white noise.
I've done some research and what I discovered is that it seems I need to add the proper header information to the file so it can be deciphered by an audio program.
I've been fooling around with a program called SoundHack trying to add the proper header information. Occasionally I can start to hear the recorded audio, but it's still covered with some static or has a really high pitch.
Any ideas how to recover the file? It's so frustrating because it seems like the data is there, it just can't be read properly!
    Thanks in advance!

You can't trun it off, but you can empty the reovery folder if you have a corrupt doc that keeps crashing on restart. The recovery folder, by default and unless you changed it, will be in the same location as the InDesign Defaults file and those paths are listed in the thread about trashing your prefs: Replace Your Preferences

  • Multiprocessing works for RAM preview, extremely slow and aeselflink crashes when in Render Queue

    Hello all,
    System specs:
    Hackintosh
    OSX 10.9
    3.5Ghz (overclocked to 4.2Ghz) Core i7
Geforce GTX 580 classified 3GB Cuda GPU
AMD Radeon HD 6870 1GB Display GPU
    32 GB of RAM
    System SSD
    5 drive internal RAID
    After Effects CC 12.2.1.5
    Cuda drivers up to date
I'm having a problem with the render queue and multiprocessing. I have a moderate sequence with several effects and 3D layers. When I'm working in the composition, everything goes great. I can RAM preview and all my CPU cores will kick up to 100% and render the composition in no time all; with full resolution with no skipped frames. It works fantastically.
Then when I go to render the exact same composition with the same multiprocessing settings, AE will hang at the "initializing background processes" for at least 5-10 minutes, during which the CPU will ramp up to 100% but no frames will be rendered. AE still remains responsive, as I can hit the stop or pause buttons and the queue will be cancled. But then the aeselflink processes (up to 8 of them depending on my settings, I've tried several) will still continue at 100% cpu load even with AE not set to render anything. I will have to go into the activity monitor and force quit each process. If I leave it for 5-10 minutes, it will finally stop initalizing and start the render, but the CPU will still run at 100% but the frames will crawl slowly forward at about 1 frame per minute, with an estimated 28 hours to render frames that were rendering in under a minute during RAM preview.
I have tried both reducing the number of cores AE will use, adjusting the allocated RAM, and disabling multiprocessing alltogether. When I disable multiprocessing, the render slows to a complete crawl, and it will render around 1 frame every 5-10 seconds. Again, this is on a composition that rendered in less than a minute on full resolution with RAM preview.
The only way to get this composition to render is to export it to Media Encoder, which will render it (without multicore processing, unfortunately) in about 8 minutes, still not the blazing fast RAM preview but at least it finishes it in under 3.5 hours (the amount of time that the multiprocessing disabled render in AE will take).
Here's the multiprocessing settings that have been very stable and carried me through other projects. Disk Cache is not enabled. The only other thing that is disabled is the "Disable Layer Cache" under the Secret menu as the plugins I'm using (Plexus 2 in this case) doesn't like to update when the camera moves so this option has been disabled to force it to reset each frame.
Does anyone know what is going on?
Also, please don't tell me that I should not use multiprocessing or instruct me on basic steps as to increase preformance on my machine. I have been tweaking my memory and multiprocessing settings for a long time now, and it is completely stable in everything but this setup. So please no answers saying "just don't use multiprocessing". It was made for a reason, it's effective, and it's needed. And please don't say that it's the hackintosh, either, as it's the most stable and powerful computer I've ever used. Sorry for the disclaimers, I just want to have constructive help.
Thank you in advance for your ideas!

Hi Rick, not sure if you saw the part where I said please don't reply with turning off Multiprocessing, and I did not say that it works and is effective in all areas. However, if you actally take the time to read my post, you will definately notice that RAM preview with multiprocessing takes under a minute to render a scene. Multiprocessing disabled and rendered in AE takes 3.5 hours. In Media Encoder it takes around 8 minutes. Clearly it IS working and IS effective for my case and my rig. Any vendettas against MP does not help my situation at all.

  • Reduce File Size?  - At or After Render Queue

I have an Adobe After Effects final composition that runs at time of 0;01;36;24 at 29.97 fps, with no audio, and it is built for replay on a 27" 1920x1200 monitor. There is no live action video included, only Adobe Illustrator assets are imported and manipulated. I have minimal (1 instance) of using the After Effects 'Effects and Presets' tools. Additionally, I have included cameras and lights, and my final composition is composed of 8 pre-comps.
When I export (or render queue) the final comp, it comes out being a file size of 17.+ GB. Obviously, this is not conducive to transport, or play back. I can render it off at half resolution (960x600), but it appears blurry when viewed on the 27" monitors. (no doubt because I am mentally comparing it to the full version).
Is there a way to render the composition off at 3/4 resolution, OR use a codec to reduce the file size without loosing dropping the resolution by half or less?

    David -
Yeah, I tried that one, but it still had a file size that was far from manageable. But, I did find the setting through the RENDER QUEUE. But thanks anyway.
For anyone who is looking for this information. Select WINDOW > Render Queue. (This will bring it up as an window where the timeline panel is.)
Drag your composition into the Render Queue
Under 'Output Options' (it may be called something else, not sure) Click the 'Format Options' Button. Under the drop down menu, select SORENSON 3 (from my understanding, this is one the best lossy compression codecs available).
Then go back to the render queue and press the render button, it may take a while, but it reduced my 17GB file down to 216MB with minimal loss.

  • Firefox 10.0.2 import/merge history (not just bookmarks) from Firefox 3.6.13, 3.6.15, & recovered (after crashes)

In Mac Firefox 10.0.2, is there a way to import/merge Mac Firefox 3.6.13 and 3.6.15 history (not just bookmarks), and history recovered after crashes, and if so, how? Thank you!

You can find the Import menu entry in the Bookmarks Manager (Library)
*Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks > Import & Backup > Import Data from Another Browser
    *http://kb.mozillazine.org/Import_bookmarks
Import & Backup is the third button on the toolbar in the Library that looks like a star.
You should be able to export the bookmarks via that button.

  • FCP7 - Queue sequences to render one after another

    FCP7
I'm restoring some old analogue tapes.
Each SEQUENCE is about 20 to 30 minutes long.
I preform cropping, colour correction and apply the Neat Video Noise Reduction filter to each sequence.
Rendering of each clip takes about 2 to 3 hours approx.
I set up 3 to 4 SEQUENCES which I'd like to render overnight.
I have been reading the FCP manual and searching the net and the Apple forums.
As far as I can tell there is no such thing as a "Render Queue" for Sequences in FCP.
ie; you add several unrendered sequences to a queue and click "render" and each renders in turn.
Could someone confirm this for me please?
    So;
    - Is there another way in FCP7 to render sequences one after the other?
I'll try putting 3 sequences together in another sequence and see how that goes.
Just not sure if I can seperate them afterwards while retaining the render.
    Thank you.
    Robert.

Ok, let me see if I understand this correctly.
    - I have a number of sequences which are unrendered.
    - I add them all to batch export.
    - As the unrendered files are exported, they are rendered.
    - The rendered sections are not retained in the sequence in FCP.
    - The rendered sections exist only in the exported files.
    Is that right?

  • Recover Non Saved Pages Files after Crash?

Just went through the horrendous experience of loosing many hours of work in Pages when my machine unexpectedly crashed. No I did not save. I am stupid, but how hard is it to design a program to auto save and recover after crash? Microsoft seems to have figured that out.
I have downloaded a 3rd party program to do it, but it is the end of using Pages for me. I really enjoyed the layout capabilities, but the omission of a file recovery feature moves this down to a 3rd tier application that looks good but does not meet the fundamental needs of users.
I am sure the work is lost forever but if there is a solution I am missing let me know.

The point is that software can do so much for us today, spell check, grammar check, automatic date, create PDF's etc... but it cannot accommodate recover after crash?
From my perspective my only mistake was using Pages in the first place. For that I can blame myself.

  • After I moved to new PC I have no longer option to in Render Queue to render to .wmv and .mp4.

After I moved to new PC I have no longer option to in Render Queue to render to .wmv and .mp4.
I have always been using 'Send to Render Queue', and there I had options to render to Windows Media and other formats, these are now missing
WMV and MP4 is the only formats that give small enough file size.
Anyone knows how I can get back these options in render queue?

  • Is it possible to Recover a document after InDesign crash?

Is it possible to Recover a document after InDesign crash?
I was creating a long document in InDesign and after placing some bad Word
    document, Indesign crashed..
The bad thing is that I didn't save file before a crash, and after reopening
file after crash I realized that 60 pages are missing..
Can I recover this information somehow?
Does InDesign makes AutoSave files (and how can I open them?)
    Thank you in advance,
    R.

Does InDesign makes AutoSave files (and how can I open them?)
Isn't it what it does actually ? When it offers recovery, I guess it opens what it can. The other datas may be missing or truncated.
So basically, I would say that your 60pages datas are lost for ever.
You could try to open the document directly and see if it makes any differencies.
Another way, but never understood how to process on my own, should be to fix the information opening the indd file in a txt editor (like notepad). But I am afraid it's more a fantasy than a real opportunity. Anyway, trying so will be more time consuming than doing the things again.
The more scriptable thing I see right now would be a permanent script that would save a copy every minute for example. But I don't know if it's a real good way of thinking.
Another great script is activated by a shortkey " Ctrl + S" ;-)
This is a script you really learn with experience and that become a reflex. I know it could sound like a mockery, buit it's not.
It's just that sometimes this is the best way to avoid problems.
Anyway, I hope someone gives you a better answer.
