Recover Satellite C850-F12S - currently installed Win 8.1

hi!
i bought my Satellite C850-F12S with Win 7 Starter now i installed Win 8.1 and i want to restore it to its original state back to Win 7 Starter but dont know how to do that.
I didnt create recovery image so m lost on how to recover it.
Anyone help me please

If you did not create the recovery medium in the past, then you will not be able to recover the notebook.
The HDD recovery isnt possible anymore because the HDD recovery partition was deleted during Win 8.1 installation.
You have only one option to do that: you have to order such recovery disk:

  • Satellite C850-19Z - cannot install display driver

    Hi
    I have had to reinstall my Toshiba Satellite C850 - 19Z ----- PSCBWE - 02400NEN
with Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit.
    The laptop uses Intel(R) Celeron(R) CPU B830 @ 1.80GHz 1.80 GHz processor
Everything has installed fine apart from the display driver.
I downloaded the following file as my laptop is using an Intel Processor
    Intel Display Driver
    Version 8.15.10.2752
    display-20130924153144.zip4
    For model Satellite C850
I found the file using the following drop down options on the Toshia website
Satellite C850 PSCBWE Windows 7 64 Bit Display Driver United Kingdom English
When I try to install the file I get the following error message:
This computer does not meet the minimum requirements for installing the software.
I have checked the requirements in the readme file. The three requirements are:
    1.
    3rd generation Intel(R) Core(TM) processors
    2nd generation Intel(R) Core(TM) i3 processor
    2nd generation Intel(R) Core(TM) i5 processor
    2nd generation Intel(R) Core(TM) i5 vPro(TM) processor
    2nd generation Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 processor
    2nd generation Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 vPro(TM) processor
I am not sure which generation my processor belongs to but i'm assuming it is one of the above since this is the driver for my specific laptop.
    2. The software should be installed on systems with at
least 1 GB of system memory.
I have 4 GB of RAM and my system is showing 4 GB is installed.
    3. There should be sufficient hard disk space in the <TEMP>
directory on the system in order to install this
    software.
I have 270 GB of free space in my primary hard drive / partition which windows is installed into. The file defaults to extract in this hard drive / partition.
I cannot figure out what the problem is with this installation.
    Please help!!!
    Thanks

    Hi
As you said, the notebook was equipped with the Intel Celeron processor B830
This CPU supports the Intel HD graphic chip as mentioned on the Intel ARK page:
    http://ark.intel.com/de/products/71141
The driver can be downloaded also from Intel page:
    https://downloadcenter.intel.com/
    Here choose:
    -Graphics drivers
    -Laptop graphics drivers
-Intel Celeron Processors with Intel HD graphics
Here you can download an zip package.
Then you will be able to update or install the driver within the device manager.
You can use the Advanced installation which will help you to point to the unzipped driver folder

  • Satellite Z930-14F - cannot install Win 8.1 from SCCM 2012 R2 environment

    Dear all,
Sattelite Z series laptops cannot install OS (win 8.1) from our SCCM 2012 R2 environment.
Either no installation is starting, or pxe boot aborted error is showed.
The environment is used to successfully install OS (win 8.1) on different other vendor computers (dell) and virtual machines (hyper-v and vmware).
I've tried both UEFI and CMS boot options and tried to switch off the secure boot. Please advice.
Also, i've read about the "SCCM installation package for Toshiba". Will it help in my situation or is it just driver packages for SCCM?
    Best Regards, Evgeny.

I guess you are speaking about this Toshiba package:
    http://www.toshiba.eu/services/on-demand/business-computing/sdp120gs-v/
I dont have much experience using such SCCM drive package but it definitely compatible with the Toshiba business notebooks. The Satellite / Portege Z930 belong to the business range and I think the package should be compatible.
This package seems to be for all IT administrators who manage devices on the corporate network with SCCM 2012 R2. Toshiba offers with the new Toshiba SCCM package a solution to integrate other notebook into an existing IT infrastructure quickly and smoothly and all Toshiba Driver and application packages and a demonstration task sequence are integrated.
However, it seems that you could get more details about this package directly from Toshiba [email protected]
By the way: The Win 8.1 installation requires the UEFI mode (in case the UEFI BIOS is available). But booting from another, external source requires the disabled secure boot option.
So maybe you should use the UEFI mode but should disable the secure boot option in order to boot from LAN.

  • Cannot recover Satellite to factory settings after Win XP installation

I was running windows recovery then I choose option "delete all data.... "something like that.
Then in the middle by mistake I turned off the system.
After I tried to started windows if was giving error "operating system missing". I manage to install WINDOWS XP so I might able to access HDD RECOVERY but nothing happened.
I tried pressing "F8" key and also "0" key when computer start at "toshiba" logo but it's still not giving me option to recover my computer back to windows vista or you can say "out of box state".
One Important things is, while installing windows XP its showed me that HDD recovery exists and only 973MB is free out of 5665MB. It means I still have all the windows and drivers on HDD. Now please help to recovery system back normal or OUT OF BOX STATE.

    > After I tried to started windows if was giving error "operating system missing". I manage to install WINDOWS XP so I might able to access HDD RECOVERY but nothing happened.
The Win XP installation has damage and deleted the boot manager and the options preinstalled by Toshiba and supported by Toshiba image.
This means that if you will not be able to recover the unit using the HDD recovery option.
You could recover the unit back to factory settings only using the Toshiba recovery disk!!! But I assume you didnt create such disk is it right?
Well, in such case you could order such disk from here:

  • How do I remove Vista from Satellite U400 PSU44E and install Win XP

Because much of my specialist software is designed to work with XP pro I need to remove Vista Home Premium from my U400 and install XP Pro. As others have found with other Toshiba models simply placing XP disk in the DVD drive results in 'the dreaded blue screen' with error code 0X0000007B (0XF78D2524, etc etc) and comments about hard drive properly configured / check for viruses/run Chdsk/F to check for corruption.
Changing HDD BIOS from AHCI to compatability mode allows XP disk to load and run as far as 'Press enter to load XP' but pressing 'Enter' does nothing; pressing other keys has no effect either and the only way out I have found is to press and hold down the On/Off button. Also re changing from 'AHCI' to 'Compatability ' there are many comments on other Internet fora suggesting that using Compatability mode makes disk access much slower than the AHCI mode. However despite searching the Web using Tosh HDD Model Referencee No (MK3252GSX) I cannot find a XP ATA driver to nLite into XP before trying again.
Can anyone tell me a procedure they have used to strip off Vista and replace it with XP Pro on te U400 PSU44E please?

A friend of me has a Satellite U400 too. He installed Windows XP in AHCI mode and he doesnt have any problems.
As Juan28 posted you can integrate the drivers by using nLite. This tool is freeware and pretty easy to use. You need only the original Microsoft installation disk and the SATA drivers that you can download on the Toshiba website:
    http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com => Support & Downloads => Download Drivers
If you dont want nLite you need an external FDD. After booting from CD you must press F6 to load the drivers from the FDD.
I prefer nLite because so I dont need an external FDD.
Furthermore I have read in the forum that the AHCI mode is a little bit faster as the compatible mode but in compatible mode you dont need any additional drivers for SATA.

  • Satellite NB10T: Want to install Win 7 but can't change UEFI mode to CSM

    Hello
I know it isnt the best section to post, but there is no sub forum for my computer serie (Satellite NB10T) and this problem is linked with Win 8
I'm stuck at the moment: I disentailed win 8 because I want to come back to 7
    I'm aware of
    http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB2C03F80002R01.htm
The problem is that I don't have Boot mode option under advanced- system configuration; the only thing I can do is enabling or disabling secure boot mode in the security tab, which is not enough
I also added a supervisor password; it does add a clear secure boot keys option, but still nothing under advanced tab to switch to Csm.
Clearing keys does not work too.
I tried to boot multiples linux distro and win7 on bootable usb (theses work on others computers), but no luck. Boot order set to usb first of course).
    What can I do?
Edit : will put some picture of uefi

    Hi guys
I think the +problem+ (to be honest its not an problem but feature) is the newest Intel chip standard called *Baytrail.*
+Intel Baytrail+ is the newest kind of chip designed especially for mobile (tablet) usage.
As far as I know such chips support only the UEFI capable devices and systems (Win 8, Win 8.1) and therefore the UEFI / CSM boot mode option isnt available in the BIOS settings.
This Satellite NB10T was equipped with such Intel Baytrail chip and therefore this option is missing.

  • Satellite L300D - How to install Win 7 drivers?

Hi, As you can see I'm new to all this.
I have a Satellite L300D laptop with Vista Home Premium SP2.
I want to update to Windows 7 Professional.
I am told that I have to do a clean update which will wipe my hard disk first.
After I have installed Windows 7, how to I get all my drivers back installed please?
I have posted here because I din't know where to start.
    Thanks.

    Hi newtoallthis,
Before you start with Windows 7 installation, download all drivers from official Toshiba website and check if all drivers available. I dont know what notebook you have exactly and if you install Windows 7 32bit or 64bit but you can check this yourself:
    http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com > Support & Downloads > Download Drivers
If you have found all drivers you can start with Windows 7 installation. After this install all drivers. Usually the installation order is not so important but a friend of installed Winodws 7 on L300 (little bit other model) and used this installation order:
    -Windows 7
    -Chipset driver
    -Display driver
    -Sound driver
    -LAN driver
    -WLAN driver
    -Modem driver
    -Value Added Package
    -Flash Cards Support Utility
Depending on your model the order and amount of drivers is a little bit different. ;)

  • Toshiba Satellite C850-F12S Function Keys not working

I recently formatted my laptop after the OS was corrupted by a virus and reinstalled windows 7 but now my Function keys that enable me to adjust brightness, volume and turn on wireless are not functioning, They only work when in BIOS setup and even when I tried to enable them to be standard F1-12 or special function keys they still dont work after starting windows. This computer has no flash cards for toshiba and i dont know which drivers to look for for this specific model. I also lost toshiba eco-utility and its player. How do i get all this back without losing my data?I have partitioned my hard disk.

    Hi Eldorado
Thanks for your suggestion. Have done as you said but still have the problem.
I've managed to get rid of the TouchED error dialogue by uninstalling the Touchpad on/off utility, but I can't get the function keys to work again. The problem appears to be that the Common Modules drivers are not reinstalling properly - the software (thotkey.exe) that operates these has to be within this. I have tried extracting the cab files for the Common Modules but nothing with let me into Toshiba's cab files to see if they are there so that I can copy them across manually.
I can live without the function keys on my machine, but this is a pain - especially when I'm sure the problem has a simple solution.
    Cheers
    David

  • Re: Satellite C850-B763 - I've lost my original Win8 version

    Hi
I have a problem, I bought a Satellite C850-B763 Laptop with win 8 Pre-installed and suddenly my pc stopped working like normal I don't know if it's because virus or it's a windows problem, anyway I had to format my disk but I forget that I didn't got a win dvd with my Laptop.
I had to use a win 7 and I want to have windows 8 so is there any way to get back my original Pre-installed Win8?
    Thanks

To be honest you have big problem. Please don't understand me wrong but I don't understand why you don't read users manuals document and pick up some info about your product. There is clearly described that original recovery image is saved on HDD and you can reinstall it using recovery option.
There s also option to create recovery media. It can be DVD or USB. This recovery media can be used if there is some problem with HDD recovery installation or HDD itself. Now you have really big problem. I presume you didnt create this recovery media and after Win7 installation you don't have factory settings anymore and HDD recovery installation is not possible anymore.
If you want to have original Win8 version for your notebook you must order original recovery disc. It can be ordered on https://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/landing.aspx
    Bye and good luck

  • SD card reader doesn't work on Satellite C850-1CN after Win 8.1 install

    Hi,
Since I installed Windows 8.1 on my computer Satellite C850-1CN ref. : PSKCAE my SD port does not work
I would like to know if there is a driver I need to download because I searched the site for a pilot port but in vain ...
Sorry for my English I speak French and I hope I'm in the right forum

    Hi
You have to download and install the card reader controller driver for Win 8.1 system
This driver should be the right one:

  • How do I install Win 8 on Satellite C850 following HDD failure?

I have a PC repair business, and a customer has brought me a Satellite C850-1KN laptop which has had a catastrophic hard drive failure (just clicking sound coming from the drive.)
I replaced the hard drive and tried booting from a Windows 8 DVD, by changing the boot order in the bios, however, it still gives a "no bootable device" error message.
I see no way of turning off UEFI boot, it is grayed out in the bios setup.
How can i reinstall Windows on this laptop?

First of all you should know that the setting (CSM/UEFI mode) needs to be changed only if you want to install non-UEFI capable system (Win 7 and older).
Win 8 and Win 8.1 are UEFI capable systems and you should be able to use the UEFI mode option.
How about the secure boot option?
Did you find it and did you try to disable this option?

  • Satellite C850-F0152 - Wireless is gone after Win 7 installation

    Hello
I have a C850-F0152, i got it with Win 8 so i reformatted with win 7 x64, however my wireless is gone..
What i mean is, i had wireless with win8, i could connect to networks and stuff, but with the reformat its just gone, there is no wireless adaptor being picked up in my device manager, and i cant see anything in the Network and sharing center.
All my drivers are installled..i think, i let windows download most of them, and the only ones i cant find online and that windows also cant find is. Network Controller, USB Controller, then it lists 1 unknown device.
Help someone Please, i got no clue whats going on.
    Regards
    Brigadier

    > All my drivers are installed...i think,
Well, I think you did not install a compatible WLan driver
The notebook seems to support Realtek Wlan / BT combo card.
This means that one module shares the Wlan and BT function.
In this case you should install Realtek Wlan driver, Realtek BT filter package and finally the Toshiba BT stack.
PS. Satellite C850-F0152 belongs to the PSCBWF series. All drivers should be available on Toshiba EU driver page

MacBook Pro 8,1 – Intel Core i5 – 2.23 GHz (early 2011) New with OSX 10.6 – current on all updates.
I successfully installed rEFit. I used Boot Camp to install Win 7.  All was great.
Then installed debian 6.  Somehow after the debian install and restart (I know this sounds crazy) but I am now reduced to Win 7 only. rEFit is not present when rebooting nor is OSX or debian. Further, I am unable to force the install DVD to launch when rebooting, by holding C, D or F8.  The Option key brings me to the grey screen with a padlock. I have attempted the root and local pw- no go. Restart holding D takes me to the windows boot manager. I have attempted several options within the Advanced Options; including – Repair Your computer, safe mode and “last known good config,” All of which did nothing.
I can see all my OSX files within win7. I tried to install the OSX within windows. Ya right, that did nothing..
I only desire to get back to OSX...
    What are my options??

Yes, you royally hosed up your machine.
You should first try to get your files off, any way you can to a external drive.
Your going to need to hold c and boot from the disk that came with your computer and a couple of screens in under the menu is a option for Disk Utility.
Select your drive and Erase with Security Option Zero, format the drive HFS+ Journaled and when that's finished (about a hour or so) then quit and install OS X from the installer.
I hope this works, but I suspect it won't. Others have hosed their machines trying to use a Linux disk without proper partition formatting too.
Another option might be to use another Mac to c boot off the Snow Leopard disk and install OS X onto a external drive, take that to the problem Mac and try holding option and booting off of it to erase your internal drive.
    You could replace the drive.
    frederick s wrote:
The Option key brings me to the grey screen with a padlock.
Is this holding option while booting?
There was someone else around here who hosed their Mac with a Linux disk too. Try to find it.

  • Blue screen when installing Win XP Pro on Satellite A100-211

    Hi all.
I'm started to get really desperate here!! I've just bought my new Satellite A100-211 and now I want to install my own copy of Windows XP Professional (since the notebook ships with XP Home). But, when I try to boot from my Win Xp Pro CD (with no SP1 or SP2 integrated), i get a blue STOP screen just as the setup application reaches the "Setup is starting Windows" phase!! The STOP message states something about a file named "pci.sys".
I don't know what is wrong or how to install XP Pro!! It should be so simple! I even tried getting the SATA drivers from intel and load them at the windows XP Pro install setup (with F6) with a floppy, but I still get the same blue screen at the same stage of the setup!!
Can anybody PLEASE help me??? Can anyone explain how can I install Win XP Pro on this notebook???
Thanks very much in advance!! I'm really really freaking out with this
