Recover Sun Download Manager SDMWorkQueue.properties file

First I downloaded and installed sdm-1_2-windows-i586.exe file (the Sun Download Manager ) and then tried to use it to download the jdk-1_5_0_04-windows-i586-p.exe file. After a few hours I paused the download and then had trouble exiting the Download Manager.
Later when I tried to restart the Download Manager, it would exit immediately. The only way I could get it to stay up was to rename C:\Documents and Settings\<...>\.SunDownloadManager\SDMWorkQueue.properties file. So I assume that this file was not saved properly when I had trouble exiting the Download Manager.
Is there someone at Sun that can help me recover SDMWorkQueue.properties file?

Thanks for your interest in Sun Download Manager. However, I must point out that SDM is NOT an open source product and is covered by a restrictive license agreement. You accepted the agreement when you installed SDM, and you may also see a copy of it in the SDM directory on your system. The file name is SDMTranslatedLicense.html. This license does not grant the right to use SDM in the manner you are proposing, so please do not proceed further.
I believe there are a number of open source download managers available and would suggest you do a bit of research and use one of those instead. That will also have the advantage of a community around the project that can hopefully help you get set up and answer any questions you run into.

Problem with openJDK and Sun Download Manager

Hi.
I try run SDM in Fedora 9 and Ubuntu 8.10 with openJDK-6-JRE but i can´t, when run sdm.sh it´s show "Using Java Look & feel" in console but no window is show.
Can anybody help me?

Yes and works well. But I'd like to know why it does not work with openJDK. In addition Fedora only has packages for opeJDK so I was more comfortable using openJDK.

RadioWMPCoreGecko19.dll popped up in my download manager, the source file is Firefox.exe. What is this file?

Norton 360 popped up a "file insight" message related to a file that was downloaded to my PC. The source file was Firefox.exe, and the name of the file is RadioWMPCoreGecko19.dll
Some sites are reporting this file as malicious, but it seems to me that it is a plugin extension for firefox? Can you explain this file to me?

Log file size in Sun Access Manager

Does anyone have an idea about the how the Sun Access Manager's log file size will increase in size with respective to the actions performed?
Can someone give a data regarding this? If someone has a better scenario and the supportive data w.r.t log file size it will be helpful.

I would like to take the log files backup daily (for future reference).
I need to know the following:
1) What log files need to be backup? Do I need to take all am*.* files (It will be around 3.5 GB in size)?
2) Ideally, I believe that only few MB of data goes into these am*.* files but, I cannot store every day 3.5 + GB of logs
3) I observed that these files (am*.* have every days activity added to them), So I would like to enable the Log rotation
Please let me know how can I proceed.

Download Manager can't find JRE

I use WinXP Home.
I wanted to download "Sun Java Studio Enterprise 8.1" using the Sun Download Manager. The web page gave the message: "We were unable to detect a recent version of Java Runtime Environment (JRE) on your system. "
I did the following:
1) Verified that I actually had JRE jre1.5.0_10 on my system
2) Uninstalled the JRE.
3) Installed the latest (same!) version of the JRE from java.com, allowing the installer to put the files wherever it wanted.
After that, when I try to download "Sun Java Studio Enterprise 8.1", I get the same message: JRE not found.
Can anyone help?

The SDM is not compatible with Mozilla 5 based browsers, they can't find the "jnlp" Mime-type.
I just download the zip file directly form the link HREF'ed to the file name on the page with the "Download Selected" button.
Or you could just download with Internet Explorer... :-0)

The authorization object SWDOWNLOAD (download software) is assigned to the My user ID.
But I could not download below that file.
SAP_ABA 710 (4~8)

PI_BASIS 2006_1_710 (4~8)

Error message is 'The Request Error : 400' with SAP Download Manager
I logged on to SAP Service Marketplace, software download area /swdc.
I have created objects in the download basket and have received approvals (->Maintenance-Optimizer) where required.
I start the SAP Download Manager and the objects from the download basket are visible in the object list of the program window.
After I choose "Objects for Download", the system starts the download.
In the info-line (in the lower part of the window), the system displays the message 'Processing object...' and then 'The request failed: 400'.

In these cases the following things should be checked:
1.- Please be sure that you are using the latest Donwload Manager version
2.- S-User and password should be active
3.- Specify the proxy. Please refer to SAP Note 155954
4.- It might be that you are not licensed for the product you want to download.
If the checkings above are correct and the problem is still alive, I would recommend you to open an SAP customer message under component XX-SER-SAPSMP-SDM providing the following information:
1.- The exactly software product name and package or stack number you try to download.
2.- Attach to the message the results of the trace file generated as per note 574885:

I can no longer save images from websites. It starts the download. It stays in my Download manager however the image doesn't save. How can I fix this?

When I attempt to to save an item with right click "save as" I select my directory and then click save. This brings up the download manager. However once the image has "downloaded" I cannot find the file. The file name remains in my Download manager but the file is physically not on my computer. Both the Open and Open Containing file are greyed out. I can still save Images with other browsers.

It is possible that your anti-virus software is corrupting or removing the downloaded files or otherwise interfering with downloading files by Firefox.
Try to disable the real-time (live) scanning of files in your anti-virus software temporarily to see if that makes downloading work.

Download Manager - failing with error 400 Bad Request

Each time I try to download some patches from the download basket I get this error: The request failed: 400. Download Manager says the files are Partially Downloaded but the downloads never complete (they just cycle round one after another attempting each download before failing). The connection to SAP ssems to be made correctly (see trace file extract below)
I'm running JRE version 1.4.2_12; download manager ver 2.1.130. I've tried uninstalling & reinstalling JRE & download manager (numerous times). Does anyone have any suggestions about what might be the cause?

Yes - I've checked the address w're pointing to & have rechecked several times with our network people re: the proxy.
The trace seems to show that we're certainly making the initial connections to SAP OK - it just gives up after a few redirections.

Properties files in a Java package not included in DC build

We are developing a Portal Standalone DC and i have a JspDynPage component within it. and i need to do internationalization in it. so as part of that i want to keep multiple resource bundles(properties) so that i could manage my properties files easily, For example
MSS.properties
MSS_es.properties
ESS.properties
LSO.properties
since portal by default has no way to do this bcos it allows only one resourcebundle to specify in portalapp.xml file, i have kept the resource bundles in java package like
com.companyname.portal.resources.
when i export from NWDS with selection of "i want to add non java resources into jar " option from windows->preferences->enterprise portal ->application development studio, it exports all the properties files as part of the par and everything works. but when i do the DC build it ignores all my properties files and it is not working. any suggestions on how to resolve this??? does SAP provide any other way of handling multiple properties files inside a PAR?????

We are using NWDS 2004 SP19. and yes i have defined three default SCs as dependencies. I tested with 2004s NWDS and it seems work fine. I am able to resovle this issue by moving my properties files into another java DC and create public part in java DC and use those public parts in Portal application DC.
So The problem of not including the properties files into Jar seems to be issue only in Portal Application DC not in Java DC. thanks everyone for the quick responses..

Admiral: Aria2 Download Manager for Midori

I recently started using Midori on this computer, and wrote my own download manager for it. It's really simple. It depends on aria2, zenity, and notify-send, which aren't hard to get at all. Its advantages over the wget.sh in the Midori FAQ is that (a) it uses aria2, which is apparently faster, (b) it lets you choose the download directory (which I like), and (c) it saves a log and notifies you in case things mess up.

Good idea. Using the 'External Download Manager - CommandlLine' plugin, I set it to:
/usr/bin/my-dl {URL}
Then I created /usr/bin/my-dl which contains:

NodeManager.properties file not able to generate while installing obiee 11g

Error while using SAP download manager

Hi,
When we try to download patches using SAP download manager to download patches, I get the error below:
The basket content could not be read. The following exception occured:
Unable to read data form teh SAP Service Marketplace. Check your settings and try again.
I have entered all the required information i.e. s-user id, password, proxy details etc in the 'download manager configuration.'
Kindly let me know how to proceed forward.

I think, by now your DM must be working, but just for info.
Please check SAP Service Marketplace Address , it should be , http://service.sap.com/ and not https:.

401196 Download Manager: Proxy configuration problems.
The above given SAP notes are very useful , which can be used to analyze the issue and also gives steps to generate the trace of the Download Manager which points to the issue. I resolved my DM issue with the above SAP notes.
Steps mentioned in the SAP note 401196 - Download Manager: Proxy configuration problems to trace out the issue:
Open a command prompt.
CD to the directory where you installed the Download Manager.
At the prompt, type "java -Djavax.net.debug=all -jar DLManager.jar dlmanager.Application".
The Download Manager will be started. You are able to see detailed debugging information in the command prompt window. Note that it is also possible to write this output to a file.
Do let the forum know if your issue is resolved or not.

Securing file downloads to a client side download manager.

The Requirement:
I need to be able to have clients download a java based download manager that will allow them to log in to their account after they have purchased FLAC music files.
The download manager would allow for resume. All of this is really not a problem.
However I need it to be where they cannot download these files directly from server only through this client. And I need to either send a call to server when file is completed or server to somehow track there download.
Can this download restriction be done via JSSE with SSLand Apache or am I looking at the wrong solution.

You could have the server use SSL in such a way so that the only identity that can connect to the server is your client.
You can do that by setting up the server with client authentication required, and a truststore that only trusts one certificate, and install that certificate in the client application's keystore. Don't let that keystore leak and you're done.

I can not download any files, i think i by misstake put the download manager in the trash and then deleted it, what should i do? I am not so shore what the program is called in English( in Swedish:filhämtare) but it looks like a little grey box

I think i by accident deleted the "download manager" i´m not shore what the program is called in English ( Swedish : filhämtaren), but its symbol looks like a grey little box and when you download a file it appears on a list and is then saved in this program. I don`t know how i didn´t see it in the trash, but somehow i deleted this program by mistake. And as a consequence i can no longer open/download any files. I just got my macbook pro and i do love the system but i am now unsure about what i should do with this problem since i am not that terribly good with computers.... Is there any way you can fix this?

It's called an "installer.app"
You can custom install the "installer.app" directly from your System DVD that originally came w/your computer. It will be either inside the "Bundled Software" folder or inside the "Applications" folder.
