when I am on a web page my laptop freezes up and recover web page comes up. Why? What do I need to do?

Gordy, welcome to the forum.
When requesting help you should always include the make/model (i.e. p6-xxxx) of the computer and/or monitor. This information is necessary for us to review the specifications of them.  Also, which browser are you using?  Before answering my questions, you might want to try another browser to see if that makes a difference.  Sometimes a browser will get a glitch that causes problems like you are experiencing.
It could be that the laptop is overheating.  Check the vents to assure that they are clean.

After opening certain websites, pogo, firefox 4.0.1 closes with no error message. When I restore the session I get: Well, this is embarrassing. Firefox is having trouble recovering your windows and tabs. This is usually caused by a recently opened web page.
I have had this problem before and had to reinstall an earlier version of firefox.
The error console has a long list of errors, many of them end with: does not implement nsIObserver. Is there a way to send the information on the error console to firefox support?
Redownloading Firefox 4.0 will fix my problem until I either close firefox or turn off my computer. The problem recurs when I open firefox again.

It is also possible that there is a problem with the files [http://kb.mozillazine.org/sessionstore.js sessionstore.js] and sessionstore.bak in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Profile Folder]
Delete the files sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox Profile Folder.

If you see files sessionstore-##.js with a number in the left part of the name like sessionstore-1.js then delete those as well.<br />
Deleting sessionstore.js will cause App Tabs and Tab Groups to get lost, so you will have to create them again (make a note).

  • Recovering of web pages

Dear all, I lost my computer and now I would like to recover my web pages published on MobileMe on iWeb of my new computer. Thanks for solution.

iWeb uses the domain.sites2 file in folder :
    ~/Library/Application Support/iWeb/
where ~ is your Home Directory.
If that file is missing for whatever reason you have to start from scratch.
You cannot import published webpages back into iWeb.
The best you can do is copy/paste the text and objects of your current website on a blank slate in iWeb.
It's often Q&A'ed in this forum.

  • When I try to reset firefox I get: Firefox is having trouble recovering your windows and tabs. This is usually caused by a recently opened web page.

Flash plugin keeps crashing. Following directions here, I tried to reset firefox and get error message "Well this is embarrassing. Firefox is having trouble recovering your windows and tabs. This is usually caused by a recently opened web page."

If you have submitted crash reports then please post the IDs of one or more recent crash reports that have a "bp-" prefix:
    *bp-xxxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxxxxxx
You can find the IDs of the submitted crash reports on the <i>about:crashes</i> page.
*You can open the <b>about:crashes</b> page via the location bar, like you open a website, or open the crash reports page via "Help > Troubleshooting Information".
    See:
    *https://support.mozilla.org/kb/Mozilla+Crash+Reporter
Try to set the Flash plug to click-to-play by setting the permissions for Flash to "Ask To Activate" in "Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Plugins".
That way you can activate the Flash plugin when you need it via the Lego block icon on the location bar.

  • I do not want firefox to try and recover any web pages on start up. Ho do I do this?

Regardless of whether I manually shut down my web pages, Firefox always seems to be trying to recover pages at start up. When I shut down I never want Firefox to recover previous web pages on start up. Just my home page.

A likely cause is that you are first closing all Firefox windows and then close the Firefox application.
Some have reported that closing Firefox (Firefox > Quit) while the browser window is still open works for them.
*Bug 845681 - Closing all windows and quitting Firefox afterwards leads to about:sessionrestore to be shown on next startup

  • How do I uninstall Mavericks and recover Lion?  I have a brand new iMac and web pages stall or freeze since I installed Mavericks.  I can't get it to download software for my printer when I connect it.

I have a brand new iMac.  It was working fine until I downloaded Mavericks.  Now I have web pages that freeze while trying to load.  The blue in the address bar stalls and freezes.  If I try to load from page 1 to a later page, or reverse that, I also have the same problem.  I tried to connect my printer for the first time, and again, the blue progress bar froze.  Then I got the yellow  triangle telling me there was a connection problem.  My internet connection is via an Air Card as that is my only option where I live.  I packed up the whole new iMac and took it to my Air Card provider, where they also have very fast Wifi, and they had the same problem with Wifi.  I use my Air Card with my MacBook and it works JUST GREAT!  I really want to return to Lion.  HELP.

The only way to retutn to Lion is to format your drive (erase, lose all) and either:
    1. clone back the clone copy i hoep you have, or
    2. first backup your files, then format and install Lion again
But really, mavericks works great. You have a problem. Find out why. First, what unusual software do oyu have installed that may be conflicting with it? Virus, system modifiers, etc?  Second what OLD software do you have that might be the problem.  finally, you might need to do a re-install if something errored during install.

  • IWeb shuts down while posting a Web page

I have 3 web pages on in iWeb '09. Two are fine. One does not want to upload to; .me or file. It simply shuts down. I have Time-Machine, but do not know which file to recover. Any help appreciated. Ward

I haven't Time Machine but the iWeb file you need to recover is the Domain.sites2 file.
    It goes into folder:
    ~/Library/Application Support/iWeb/
    ~ is your Home directory.

  • Safari displays portable web page

Since updating to Yosemite and Safari8, occasionally Safari loads what appears to be the portable web page rather then the desktop version. This displays the web site as a very oversized page. The only way I can recover is to restart safari, logging onto the same site as before now works OK. Is anyone else seeing this happening?

From the Safari menu bar, select
Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Privacy ▹ Remove All Website Data...
    and confirm. Test.

  • Firefox 20.0.1 with Shockwave 11.7.700.169 crashes when you access web pages with video content

I have a problem with Firefox 20.0.1 under Windows 7 with Shockwave flash 11.7.700.169. When I access a web site / web page with some content that requires Shockwave (usually videos) I can view the video, however, when I exit Firefox, it will crash with "Firefox encountered a problem - check for a solution ...". I also have a web site "MyHeritage" that when I access a family tree I repeatedly get a message "Video driver stopped working - NVIDIA driver ... has successfully recovered". If I disable Shockwave, Firefox will not crash in both cases, unfortunately, I cannot watch any video content.
I did go to the Adobe web site and updated what I thought was my version of Shockwave, unfortunately this installed Director for netscape V12.2, I have disabled this plug-in.
BTW - running Firefox in safe mode (add-ons disabled) stopped my NVIDIA driver from crashing and also stopped Firefox from crashing when exiting.

Please check if all your plugins are up-to-date using [http://mozilla.com/plugincheck Mozilla Plugin Check site].
Once you're there, the site will check if all your plugins have the latest versions.
If you see plugins in the list that have a yellow ''Update'' button or a red ''Update now'' button, please update these immediately.
To do so, please click each red or yellow button. Then you should see a site that allows you to download the latest version. Double-click the downloaded file to start the installation and follow the steps mentioned in the installation procedure.

  • I can't get the web page email link to work.

When I click on the envelope icon to email a link to the web page I am presently on, nothing happens.

    Hey windows 8.1,
Please install Microsoft Office 2007 or higher and configure the option Microsoft Outlook 2007 as default email reader. It will work. If still not work please do the following:
Hello <!-- XXX you may wish to edit this greeting, and other parts of the response so that it is personalised to the question asked.--> ,
Certain Firefox problems can be solved by performing a ''Clean reinstall''. This means you remove Firefox program files and then reinstall Firefox. Please follow these steps:
'''Note:''' You might want to print these steps or view them in another browser.
#Download the latest Desktop version of Firefox from http://www.mozilla.org and save the setup file to your computer.
#After the download finishes, close all Firefox windows (click Exit from the Firefox or File menu).
#Delete the Firefox installation folder, which is located in one of these locations, by default:
    #*'''Windows:'''
    #**C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
    #**C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox
#*'''Mac:''' Delete Firefox from the Applications folder.
#*'''Linux:''' If you installed Firefox with the distro-based package manager, you should use the same way to uninstall it - see [[Installing Firefox on Linux]]. If you downloaded and installed the binary package from the [http://www.mozilla.org/firefox#desktop Firefox download page], simply remove the folder ''firefox'' in your home directory.
#Now, go ahead and reinstall Firefox:
##Double-click the downloaded installation file and go through the steps of the installation wizard.
##Once the wizard is finished, choose to directly open Firefox after clicking the Finish button.
More information about reinstalling Firefox can be found [[Troubleshoot and diagnose Firefox problems#w_5-reinstall-firefox|here]].
<b>WARNING:</b>Do not use a third party uninstaller as part of this process. Hi,
Please check if this happens in a [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Managing-profiles new profile]. If the new profile is okay, you can later [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Recovering%20important%20data%20from%20an%20old%20profile?s=profile&r=1&e=sph&as=s copy the needed personal data] from the old profile. Firefox stores your personal data and settings in [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder another location (profile folder)] separate from its [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Installation_directory files/folder]. A new profile would have the default Firefox settings in '''Tools''' ('''Alt''' + '''T''') > [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Options%20window Options] and [http://kb.mozillazine.org/About:config about:config], and usually would also be empty of '''Extensions''' and themes ('''Appearance''') in '''Tools''' > '''Add-ons''', and their settings. Also, a new profile would have no previous stored website cache/cookies/data/preferences etc., ('''Tools''' > [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Clear%20Recent%20History '''Clear Recent History''']).

I am not suprised no one answered your questions, there are simply to many of them. Can I suggest you read the faq on 'how to get help quickly at - http://forums.adobe.com/thread/470404.

  • Open web pages from an applet

I'm developing an applet that has to open some web pages.
The only way I know is to use the method showDocument that
needs and URL. So, how to pass parameters to the web page?
I don't want to put them in the URL: everyone can see
    "secret data"!
    Help me, please.

Take a look at this example that uses a JEditor pane to hold the HTML page.
    //Create a new JEditor Pane
    jep = new JEditorPane( );
//Ensure the pane is not editable
    jep.setEditable(false);
//Use this to get local HTML file
    URL fileURL = this.getClass().getResource("Manual/Manual.htm");
//add the html page to the JEditorPane
jep.setPage(fileURL);Ok the core line of code here is this.
URL fileURL = this.getClass().getResource("Manual/Manual.htm");The standard method for accessing a html file via a URL is thus. As you can see its very similar.
URL fileURL = new URL("http://www.comp.glam.ac.uk/pages/staff/asscott/progranimate/docs/Manual/Manual.htm");this.getClass().getResourse() will return the file location of the class you are working with.
By doing the following you can access manual.html in a folder called Manual that sits in the same file location as the class file you are using.
URL fileURL = this.getClass().getResource("Manual/Manual.htm");I hope this helps.
    Andrew.

  • In the previous version i was able to close my mozilla and to open it again, the web pages which i was working with remained however i've tried many ways to have this advantage again but it is not working what can i do ???

in the previous Mozilla version i used to leave some web sites opened and when i start working again my Mozilla showed the web pages i was working with in that occasion, i have looked in the options menu but there is no way, perhaps it was an add-on and now it is removed??? i would like to have this advantage again in my Mozilla could it be possible?? thx!

Your webpages/tabs are still there. When you start firefox again, there is a "Restore Previous Session" icon below. If you click that, it will open up all your tabs again.
Or you could see this article for better understanding-
