Recovered Photos -- looking for "import" folder

I have read many threads about opening the iPhoto library, reviewing package contents, finding the "import" folder, etc.  But, all I find is a folder marked "Autoimport."  Is this the folder with the recovered photos?  The folder contains 4,305 images, which is about the same number of photos that I deleted during a massive cleanup effort.  But, I emptied the iPhoto trash and don't know where all these images might come from.

Old Toad!
You don't know how helpful this post is. After the 9.4 fiasco I have an 'event' folder with recovered photos that has about 82.000 some pictures in it. They are all duplicates of my originals about 22.000 give or take. This thing is eating up a lot of space and holding down all applications.
I still think 9.4 stinks. I had to delete the library on my iMac and copy the one from my macbook.
Spend hours on this, thanks Apple for a premature update!

  • Lightroom not showing all photos avail for import

About a week ago, I tried to import some new photos into LR 3 (3.4.1 to be exact), and the import dialogue does not show all the photos that should be available for import.
The files are on my hard drive and there are approximately 200 photos in the file folder. When I open LR's import dialogue to import the photos (after navigating to the proper location to import from of course), it shows me 17 of the photos in the file folder! I selected "all" instead of "new" to see if that would make a difference and it did not. I made sure I did not have "do not import suspected duplicates" checked, even closed LR and rebooted my computer.... that didn't work.
I tried creating a new catalog to see if that would fix the issue, and it did not.
I'm not sure what else to try, or if there is a known fix out there (having a heck of a time finding one in my internet search!)
    Any ideas/suggestions?
    Thanks!
    -KBP

Okay, so for giggles I tried checking in the Bridge to see if that changed anything... and it only showed the few files too. So I decided to "select all" and noticed at the bottom left that it listed the balance of my photos as "hidden." I have no idea how my files got hidden, or why it was only some and not others... but at least it's all fixed now and I can get back to what I need to do in LR!

  • What is the "recovered photos" file for?

I was just going through my "pictures" file, and came across a file called "recovered photo's" that's roughly 5GB in size.....spot checking it showed that identical photo's were in iphoto...but naturally i didn't check every one. Does anyone know what this folder is for?? Is it safe to delete?
    Thanks!

    John:
By "pictures" file what do you mean? Are you referring to the Pictures folder or your iPhoto library? Same question for the "recovered photo's". Is that a folder you're referring to and where exactly is it located?
Often those are photos that were deleted or though to be delete and were placed in the recovered folder/roll in a rebuild or update because iPhoto had lost it's link to the roll it belonged in. You should not delete it from the Finder but you can from iPhoto. If they are in the library they will be in a roll titled the same as the folder in the iPhoto Library folder.

What is the best way to minimize the blurring that occurs when pictures are resized in FCP? (ref: this thread) Should I resize the picture to my intended export resolution using a different program before i import it in FCP? Does motion do this better than FCP? • Looking for DisabledFeatures folder?

I need to install my Server Behaviors Panel on my Window tab.  I understand that this is an extension available for installation from (mac OS 10) Applications>Dreamweaver CC>Configurations>DisabledFeatures.  However, the DisabledFeatures file is nowhere to be found anywhere in my Dreamweaver CC folder.  How might I go about locating these extensions for installation?

I 2nd bregent's reply.  Server Behaviors were removed from DW for good reason.   The old fashioned MySQL connections won't work on servers that have PHP 5.5 or higher.  Many hosts are already using PHP 5.6!   Best advice, learn to code manually with MySQLi (improved) or PDO.

  • I am looking for: Saved folder search for Mail items (Notes & ToDos)

The google and Apple website search results take me to the sme portion of OS 10,5's site, There I am told (or read) +"And everything you create in Mail — to-dos, notes, and, of course, email messages — appears in a Spotlight search of your system."+
Unfortunately, this hs been the case for me and if it truly does work, I would like to make it happen on my computer. Especially after reading this:+Integration with Spotlight, Coverflow. Since all my "stuff" lives in Mail and iCal, it can easily be found using Spotlight. Even cooler are saved Finder searches that display notes and tasks using Coverflow. (I create a tag by adding °, shift-option-8, to key words.)+
Has anyone else been able to get the mention spotlight functionality? All help will be appreciated.

Check System Prefs >SPotlight >Search Results. There, you check all the folders or areas that you want to appear in search results. This way, I guess, you can have parts indexed but not usually have to look at matches from those parts when you search, perhaps for speed or keeping down number of hits you have to review. On my new mac, Mail was not checked and I had the same problem. In theother part of the Spotlight Prefs, Privacy, you can exclude areas from being indexed at all.

Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from the following page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):

To install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you downloaded.

Whenever I try to open iPhoto, a message comes up saying that 148 photos have been found in the iPhoto Library that have not been imported. It asks me if I want to import them and I say NO but then it places them in a recovered photo folder. I keep deleting the empty recovered photo files but it just keeps asking me every time I go to open iPhoto! I'd love to just get rid of the "found" photos (I can't open them anyway!)
How do I get rid of them so that I can just open iPhoto straight up without this?
    Linda

Open your iPhoto Library package with the Finder.
look for a folder titled Import or Importing and move it to the Desktop. Launch iPhoto to see if the message goes away.  If there is no message  check the contents of the Import folder to see if you want to keep any of those image files (usually they have not been imported into iPhoto). If you want to keep them then drag the folder into the open iPhoto window to import.

  • I cannot close or import or any function to iphoto.  I have been getting the same message for many days "Photos are being imported to the photo library.  Please wait for import to complete."  I do not know where the photos would be importing from.

I cannot close or import or any function to iphoto.  I have been getting the same message for many days "Photos are being imported to the photo library.  Please wait for import to complete."  I do not know where the photos would be importing from.  How do I get it to proceed?

After Force Quitting, as LarryHN recommended,
Select the iPhoto Library in the Finder. By default it is in your Pictures folder.
Ctrl-click or right-click the iPhoto lIbrary. Select "Show package contents" from the panel, that will pop up.
Look for a folder named "Importing" or "Import". Remove this folder, but don't touch anything else.
    Then launch iPhoto again.
If iPhoto now is working again, check the folder you removed, if there are any photos that you want to keep and save them.

  • The photo has been placed in the folder /Users//Pictures/iPhoto Library.photolibrary Recovered Photos.

Can anyone help? I gather a couple of pictures were corrupted in my library and since then every time I open iphoto the following message appears
"The photo has been placed in the folder /Users/evabosch/Pictures/iPhoto Library.photolibrary Recovered Photos." Then a folder is created with nothing inside.
I can of course delete the folders but I would like to clean the system of this.
    Thank you!
    OSX 10.9.5

Quit iPhoto if it is open.
Hold down the ⌘ (command) and option keys while you open iPhoto to open iPhoto Library First Aid.
Read and follow the instructions. I recommend the "Repair Database" option.

  • Cant stop Mystery "recovered photos"

I recently had everything moved from Windows7 to my new iMac. All my photo went into iPhoto. There is one glitch I can't figure out. EVERY TIME I open iPhoto a window pops up and says I have "2 photos have been found in the iPhoto library that have not been imported." When I say ok and import those 2 popup windows, it opens up an album called "Recovered Photos (0)" There are NO items. NO description.
How can I fix this situation if I don't know what these are? I must have 40-some blank "recovered photos" in the library. PLEASE HELP!

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Go to the Pictures folder, Control-click on the iPhoto Library package and select "Show Package Contents".
Once in the package look for a folder titled "Imports" or "Importing". Move it to the desktop. Open iPhoto to make sure the message is gone. If it is look inside the folder and, if you want to keep the photos, import them back into iPhoto. Otherwise delete the folder.
DO NOT DO ANYTHING ELSE INSDE THE IPHOTO LIBRARY PACKAGE!

  • Aperture doesn't see all Pictures for import

I am having problems with Aperture finding photo files for importing. I set the family tree (having tried various routes) for viewing various folders and the images that I know are in the folder, just dont appear!

Have you tried to toggle between folders in the Aperture Import panel? I noticed, that it takes some time for the image files to appear in the Import window.  And Aperture does not seem to refresh the Import Browser window, when you move files around.
    So try the following:
Close the "Import" panel in Aperture.
In the Library Inspector panel make sure, you have a library item selected, that you can import to, not the Trash or something, otherwise the Import window might appear to be empty in AP 3.4.
    Check again the settings.
Then select the folder you want to import from in the Import panel. Wait a moment for the images to appear. If the do not appear, switch to a different folder and then back.
If that still will not show your photos, switch between different "File Types" settings.
If none of this helps, check, if Aperture will see the Desktop or Pictures folder, if you are importing into a different Aperture library.
If even a new library does not help, it may be a problem of corrupted Preferences. Then you probably have a problem with corrupted user preferences.
Remove the Preferences: Remove the Aperture's user preferences from the User Library as described here:
    Aperture 3: Troubleshooting Basics  http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3805
Note:Your User Library is hidden by default in MacOS X 10.7.x or later - to open it in a Finder window use the "Go" menu from the Finder's main menu bar.
Quit Aperture, if it is running. Log off and on again.
Open the user library by using the Finder's "Go > Go to Folder" menu and hold down the options-key, until "Library" appears in the drop down menu. Select it.
In the widow that will open, scroll down to "Preferences"
From the "Preferences" folder  remove "com.apple.Aperture.plist".
Then try to launch Aperture again.
But deleting the "Preferences" file will cause Aperture to forget the preferences settings. Be prepared to have to reset all options you set using the Aperture Preferences panel.
