Recovering an Entire Folder from Recover Deleted Items

Question:
If an entire folder is deleted , placed in Deleted Items, then Deleted Items is emptied ... can the entire Folder be recovered to Deleted Items from
Recover Deleted Items function?
I seem to recall that this was once possible - but when I test with Outlook 2013 with my Exchange Server 2013 - only the mail items come back to Deleted Items - the original folder is not restored.

The Recoverable Items folder resides in the non-IPM subtree of each mailbox. The non-IPM subtree is a storage area within the mailbox that contains operational data about the mailbox. This subtree isn't visible to users using Outlook, Microsoft Office Outlook
Web App, or other email clients.
I would refer you on this informative technet gallery that will help you to understand this concern in depth and recover the entire folder into previous used version back :https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee364755%28v=exchg.150%29.aspx
Also, please check this another helpful resource :https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff660637%28v=exchg.150%29.aspx
Moreover, if you wish to manage this task automatically, you may also give a shot to this automated solution (http://www.exchangeserverrecovery.com/) that could be a good alternative approach in such critical
circumstance.

  • Recover an entire folder with every recent file?

    Hi,
Need to have an exact copy of a department drive from Friday. The other drive is intact so there is no "DR" scenario.
If I select the folder and choose show all recovery points, then select Friday. Does that Recover the entire folder with the most current backup of every file leading up to Friday, or just the files backed up Friday?
If not is there a way to do a point in time restore? Say like my file server dies and I need to restore every single file to the most current version that I have a copy of?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
Every recovery point represents a full backup of the data source you are protecting, so it will contain all files even if they have not been updated for several days.  After a full restore of that folder, the restored files will be of the exact
version they were at the point in time that the recovery point was taken.

  • Help please? Outlook 2011 stuck on 'updating message list' after deleting 1000's of emails from my 'deleted items' folder

    Hello.
I've been searching online for an answer and can't find one - hopefully someone can help...
I recently updated to Yosemite and decided on a general clear-out, so went through 1000's of documents, photos, emails, etc. I ended up deleting the all of the emails in my 'deleted items' folder. Since then, when I go into Outlook and hit the 'send/receive' tab it logs on as normal, but then gets stuck on 'updating message list' - it shows me that there are emails and how many, but will not download them.
Does anyone have any experience of this?
    Many thanks!

As Outlook, part of MS Office, is not an Apple product, I strongly recommend asking in the Microsoft Office:Mac forums here:
    Office for Mac
Everyone there is a Mac user AND an Office user, something you can't say about Apple's forums. You will get the fastest help there and I think you will find the contributors more than helpful.

  • Need to export entire folder from Apple Mail

I need to take an entire folder of saved emails and export it so that it and all it's contents and sub-folders are able to be read by someone using a Windows computer.
    Can this be done?
THIS IS A TIME SENSITIVE QUESTION!  I need to get this information to my county prosecutor's office ASAP so I'm hoping someone has an answer for me. She needs to be able to read all the emails and replies that I've saved over the last year.
I don't want to send her a copied batch of emails one at a time. I know I can highlight all email in a mailbox and send as "one" where she can read from the bottom up  in order it was sent, but I would much rather keep the structure I have saved so she can read it on her windows computer as I have it on my iMac. Or at least similarly.
    Thank you all.

Pvonk has good advice. I just want to make sure you understand the Aperture has a Master and at least one Version of each image file. The Master is the original -- never touched. The Version is at first a copy of the Master, but as soon as you make any changes it holds those changes. So you have to decide whether you want to export the Masters, the Versions, or both (which you'll have to do separately, afaik). Aperture gives you the choice. Click "Photos" in the Library tab of the Inspector, then select all, then "File>>Export". If you want to maintain your groupings (e.g.: Projects), you will probably have to select the images in each group and export them as a unique set.
Note that Aperture is a very powerful image database (pros refer to this as "Digital Asset Management") in addition to (w. v. 3) being a very powerful digital photograph development lab. Photoshop Elements does none of the former, and a very different kind of job than the latter.

  • Recovering "iTunes Music" folder from Time Machine Backup (Permissions Err)

OK, long story, but stay with me.... could be an interesting one here.
So I move to a SSD hard drive in my 24" iMac. New Intel SSD drive is only 160GB, so I'm only using it for the OS, Applications, etc... all of my data is on an external FW800 disk (Western Digital MyBook). I've already relocated my Home Directory to the external drive and that seems to be working great for all my pictures, docs, movies, etc, except for iTunes.
My iTunes library comes up, but I can't locate any of the songs. I checked the preferences and it's pointed to the correct location on the external disk. So, I was trying to do the relocation, but it would appear that the MUSIC folder does not have all the data i copied into it. When I try to open the "iTunes Music" folder I get this error... "The folder "iTunes Music" can't be opened because you don't have permission to see it's content". I've checked my Time Machine drive which obviously has all the music files on it (the space is taken up), but I can't get to them to recover.
Any clue how I can get this permissions error resolved so I can get my music? I have (3) backups of the same directory... all the same story, no permissions. I even created the same user account name when I rebuilt Snow Leopard on the SSD.

I don't think you understand. I need to get my music from Time machine where it is backed up. How do i find it in time machine and how do i transfer it to a seperate HD?

  • Can I recover my iPhoto Library from a deleted partition?

Yesterday I uninstalled my Window partition using bootcamp. Everything I wanted has stayed on my MacBook apart from my iPhoto Library. I'm gutted I didn't realise, I'm guessing it must have been saved onto the partitioned hard drive and I've lost 4 years of photos. The one thing I didn't want to lose! Is there any way I can get them back?

    Sorry no.

  • Recovering folder from a previous Macintoch HD set up,HOW?

I reinstalled my I Mac OS recently but I forgot an important Folder ( Pictures) in the Macintosh HD.
I am looking to recovering my pictures folder from the previous set up but I don't know how to do that.
    Thank you all in advance.

Duplicate the entire good backup of the Pictures folder first. Then copy back over the entire Pictures folder that was backed up into your Users -> yourname folder that currently is empty while iPhoto isn't open. Replace the empty one.
Then reopen iPhoto holding the (Alt) Option key.
Choose the Library, and then select the iPhoto Library folder inside your Pictures folder and click Open.

  • How do I recover a "complete" folder and place it back onto the desktop screen.

This has to be a common problem experienced by all Mac desktop users.  I placed
an entire blue "file folder" (the common blue folders with tab) into the "trash" and
cannot take it out or delete it.  I did it by accident because I wanted to "delete" a small
file, within the "entire blue folder".  Apparently I put the "whole folder" in the "trash" instead
and now cannot take it out.
I have an exact copy on my desktop already, but I don't want to delete this folder that I
placed in the "trash".  For now, I just want to recover it and put it back onto the desktop.
I don't mind having two copies for now.
To be extra clear, this is the usual blue "file folder" that contains "favorites", "shared", and "devices".
Within these are "all my files", "desktop", "your personal files", "applications", etc., etc.
Within these are "photos", "albums", "pictures", "video", and miscellaneous subsets of files.
This "entire" folder containing all these items are now in the trash.
I need to know a simple "step by step" process or instructions on how to take all this
out of the trash and to put it back on the desktop where I can see it on my computer screen
    as a blue "file folder".
I'm not very computer knowledgeable except to use the internet and knowing how to use
    data entry software.
So it would be important to explain to me "step by step".  Any small detail left out and I might mess up.
I know there must be a simple way of doing this.  All I see now is a pile of papers in the "trash" bin and
no way to get out my "file folder"
    I appreciate all your help.
    Thank you very much.

You cannot take a folder out of the Trash to your Desktop without erasing the one on the Desktop. You need to first change the name of the folder on the Desktop. Or you can open the folder that's in the Trash and drag the files onto the Desktop assuming there aren't too many of them.
But if you have a duplicate on the Desktop why do you need to remove the one that's in the Trash?
If you feel you must take the folder out of the Trash, then you need to rename the duplicate that's on your Desktop.
If you wish to put the folder back where it was when you deleted it, then open the Trash window, select the folder, then CTRL- or RIGHT-click and select "Put Back" from the context menu.

  • Forcefully delete user's "Deleted Items" from Exchange 2010 Management shell ?

After migration from Exchange 2003 to 2010 my organization's some user can't delete items from their deleted items folder, it generate a error message so how can I forcefully delete user's deleted items from their "Deleted Items folder" from
Exchange 2010 Management shell ? Thanks
    Babu

    Hi Babu ,
Based on my knowledge i have given some suggestions please have a look in to it.
1.We cannot use the search-mailbox command specifically for any folder in the mailbox. But we can use it for a whole mailbox.Below is the command which will copy the entire contents of the mailbox to the target folder called as "backup" .
Search-Mailbox -Identity "problematic mailbox name" -TargetMailbox "test mailbox" -TargetFolder "backup" -LogLevel Full -deletecontent
Note : Before executing the above command , please execute the below.
New-ManagementRoleAssignment -Name "Import Export_Enterprise Support" -SecurityGroup "Enterprise Support" -Role "Mailbox Import Export"
Once the above command is executed then you need to add your admin account to the security group "Enterprise Support" and then use the Search-Mailbox command to copy the entire items to the target mailbox and also it will delete all the copied
    items from the original mailbox.
2.Another one option is to use the MFCMAPI tool to force delete the items on the deleted items folder.
Most importantly before doing all the above , please share me the error message what your users are facing while deleting the items from deleted items folder.
    Thanks & Regards S.Nithyanandham

  • Delete folder from application server

Hy folks i'm been reading many topics about creating and deleting a folder ( entire folder) from application file.
i successufuly create a file by using command and  SM69   cmd /c   mkdir,
and that's ok, what i'm unable to do is to delete a directory.
    witch command should i use?
is it all possible to zip a folder?
    Regards.

    Hi,
you have to delete all files in your directory before deleting the directory. Otherwise, it is not possible.
    The command is: rmdir -p
CALL 'SYSTEM' ID 'COMMAND' FIELD 'rmdir -p'
                                  ID 'TAB'     FIELD tabl-*sys*
Afterwards, to Zip a folder, refer to the class CL_ABAP_ZIP.

I am talking about the icon on the docking row, that's the guy with the smily face. When you click on him it brings up a bunch of files of what I seem to have store/created on my Imac. There are hundreds of emails and some other documents. I tried to delete a few of them when I first got the MS office but it did not like that, it said it have to rebuild oulook. Why cant i delete these files? is this Apple version of Window outlook PST files?
These file extenssions are listed as
olk14_message or even or ccontact. I wish I could send a screen print but I dont see that on the key board. Maybe I should have stuck with windows..
Oh the ...olk14_message's.  Do not delete them behind Outlooks back, i.e., from the finder.  Those are the various messages that you sent, received, or deleted in Outlook.  They are indexed by Outlook so if you delete behind Outlook's back Outlook will get confused trying to access those messages.
You can delete them however using Outlook itself.  In outlook select a mailbox (Drafts, Sent Items, Deleted Items, etc.) by clicking on the mailbox on the left.  It will show you the messages in that mailbox.  You can now select all or selected items in that mailbox.  The click the Edit menu and select Delete.  You will get a dialog asking if you really want to delete the selections.  Answer "Delete" and the messages will get deleted.
The olk14_message's you are seeing are the actual messages shown the Outlook mail boxes.  When you actually delete them the way I just described the corresponding olk14_message files will also be deleted.
Note Outlook's Deleted Items mailbox is where all deleted messages go when you click the Delete tool in the Outlook toolbar.   Thus using the Delete tool from the toolbar does not permanently delete the messages.  So if you been using that for months or years you are going to have a very large Deleted Items mailbox.  And every one of those items in there is going to have a corresponding olk14_message file for that message.
So if those olk14_message files you are seeing are from the Deleted Items mailbox you can get rid of all those corresponding olk14_message files by selecting all the messages in Deleted Items and using the Edit menu's Delete.
Alternative ways to the Edit/Delete to do the permanent delete is select (all) the messages to delete and control (right) click to bring up the Outlook contextual menu and select Delete from it.
Finally if you use the Delete tool in the toolbar for messages selected in the Deleted Items mailbox you will be able to permanently delete those too.  It's an exception since using the tool on the Deleted Items means there's no place to put those messages except to "oblivion".
So, in summary, using the Delete tool in the toolbar on messages in every mailbox except the Deleted Items mailbox just moves messages to the Deleted Items mailbox.  But using the Delete tool on items in them Deleted Items mailbox permanently deletes the selected items in there.  And only permanently deleting items removes the corresponding actual ...olk14_message files.

  • Can't Delete Empty Folder in Deleted Items

Running Outlook 2013 on a Windows 8.1 machine. Exchange 2010 on SBS 2011 platform.
I have an empty folder within the deleted items folder. I can manually delete all messages within the deleted items but I cannot get that empty sub folder deleted. My permissions are set to "owner". I'm getting a message that says, "outlook
is synchronizing local changes made to items in this folder. You cannot remove this folder until the synchronization with the server is complete". I've done shift+F9 in both the deleted items and the sub folder and that hasn't helped.
    Please advise.

    Hello,
I recommend you check if owa has the issue. If the issue doesn't occur on owa, the issue may be related to outlook.

  • Hide Folder from Shared Maibox

    Hi Team,
i hope the way i explain is not too complicated. i'm not that good technical guy.
    1. My Company is having some emails missing issue. user misplaced, accidental delete, and follow up email missing.
    2. Each user in my company uses at least 3-5 Shared Mailbox. and its set as mailbox in each user outlook profile.
    2. therefore to tackle the issue, IT decided to create a folder call back up, create a rule, so that any incoming emails will get duplicated and stored in to the backup folder.
    3. The real issue is, all the user had given full mailbox view access and send as access via the exchange server.
    4. This had made the back up folder visible. and thus the chances of the folder get access by user is high.
    5. is there any way setting or any way to restrict user from accessing the folder.
    Thanks

Why do you need an extra copy in a folder, Exchange keeps deleted items in dumpster based on the retention period that you sed on individual mailbox or on entire database. Hard deleted mails are not visiable to end users but admin can recover it using eDiscovery...
