Recovering clips from formated P2 card

By mistake I formated a P2 card full of clips. I downloaded the BYclouder P2 Card Data Recovery. I did manage to get some files back but when I try to open them in Premiere Pro, I get this message: "The importer reported a generic error". I got some some .mxf, .xml and some .bmp files but the little txt files was not there.
Did anybody worked with the BYclouder P2 Card Data Recovery software and had any success importing them in Premiere Pro? http://www.byclouder.com/products/recovery/card/p2-card-data-recovery.html
Any help would be appreciated!

As long as you have all the card dump folders loaded into the Log and Transfer window, FCP will stitch together spanned clips. So if your clip goes from one card to another, load both cards into L&T, then import.

There is no solution. If you formatted the card, the data is gone, purely and simply.
Sorry, but there is no solution. You'll have to think twice before formatting the card next time.

  • Any suggestions for a shareware utility to recover files from an SD card?

I accidentally deleted a set of files from a digital camera card (SD). Does anyone have suggestions for a good shareware utility to recover the files? The utilities I've tried find the files in the root folder -- no problem. But the files I need to recover are in a subfolder and the utilities are not looking in that folder for some reason.

Doesn't sound like you need a recovery utility. How can they be in a "subfolder" if you have deleted them?

  • Recovering clips from Trash - can't drag out

I recorded some clips using the built in camera, hadn't saved the project and it shut down on me. I reopened the project, and they were all in the trash. But I can't seem to get them out of the trash... can any one help or should I just empty the trash and start over?

Yeah I am having this issue today too. Not able to copy / paste or drag and drop anything - it's almost as if the file is suddenly protected and not letting me make changes.
I am scouring the HD board here to see if the question's already been answered.
I too am using Imovie HD on the MacBook.

  • Problems importing the same clips from diferents cards  IMAC and CS5

Hi, I'm having trouble importing my clips recorded in The ex1, I'm using CS5 with an imac, The problem is that when I import the same clips recorded in two cards, the second card comes exactly with what is inside the first card.  It does not have what was originally in it, it just copies what was on the first card or vice versa.  But the original folder in my drive is intact with the two cards intact. The problem is when I import it to CS5 on IMAC.  When i import the video the imac makes a long file with all the clips an puts them together except the clips from the previous card, it shows but with the same video that is in the begining of the second card or the last clip recorded in the second card .I tried to import the clip again from the first card and it comes with the same video from the second card again.

    1) Don't know why this is happening. It may have something to do with
I downloaded from iCloud the same library I was working with
I'm not clear what procedure you're using here. Using a cloud for storage might change some file tags. Generally users I think keep the library on the same drive as the media, keeping the library backups on the system. There is no real benefit in keeping the media in a separate location. Often users will keep the library in the same folder as the media. It makes backing up using tools like Carbon Copy Cloner very efficient.
1a) This can be difficult to find as there sometimes is no obvious indicator. It might be a missing element in a compound clip, a missing or altered layer in a graphics file, a missing font, a missing effect. These will show up inside the item involved, but may not be apparent in the browser. A missing transition for instance will not be seen until you skim over the project or try to export it.
    2) The 43 MB is a small amount of optimized media. This never prevents relinking. The library is always looking for original media, or proxy media if you're in proxy playback. It never looks for optimized media. If it has it, it uses it, if it doesn't, it uses the original media. If you are using original/optimized playback, you must have the original files. The optimized files are not enough.

  • Recovering photos from SD card

I lost some photos and was hoping to recover them from my SD card.  It's a long shot since I took more photos today, but I'd still like to try.  I downloaded some programs that scan your card to find the missing photos, but when I connect my camera to my computer, it only comes up in aperture and I can't get it to show up anywhere else.  Because of this, the scanning programs aren't "seeing" the card.  Anyone know how to make it come up on my desktop when I plug in my camera instead of coming up in aperture?

Use a card reader.  Cards in a card reader show as drives in Finder.
Short of that, you might be able to set your camera to a mode that will cause the computer to see it as a drive.  You'll have to consult your camera's manual to find out if, and how, you can do that.

  • My iPad doesn't recognise video files when I connect my sd card with the camera connection kit. It only recognises photos from the same card

My iPad will only recognise photos when I connect an Sd card with the camera connection kit. It doesn't recognise video clips from the same card?!

Most probably because your camera records videos into MTS files, which aren't cmpatible with iOS. Read http://www.iphonelife.com/blog/87/playing-back-1080p60i60p-non-mov-videos-right- your-camera for more info and the alternatives (preprocessing ("remuxing") on a desktop etc); don't forget to follow the iVI review link at the bottom if you have a Mac.

  • Working with only specific AVCHD clips from a large media card?

I have a 64GB SDHC card with lots of AVCHD clips on them. I brought some into Premiere CS6 through the Media Browser to edit together, though I'm not sure what I want to do with them long term. Since they all reside on the card within the folder structure.
    1. What is the best way to just copy specific files from the media card so I can work on them more later without having to copy over the entire 50-64GB folder of all the AVCHD files?
    2. Is there a way to bring just the clips that I want to work with in CS6, convert them over into another format (lossless) so I can just use those clips again later?
    Thanks.

Sometime you just got to try stuff.
ITs NLE (non destuctive) and you wont break it.
Spanned AVCHD clips are of a duration and file size that a single long continuous take may  require two or more files to record.  The AVCD folder structure has "bits" in it that facilitates this.
MOS = without sound.  Therefore the video does not need to link to any other part of the AVCHD Folder Structure

  • Broken clips from CF card and import question

I'm new to recording on a CF card and importing it into fcp. I shot an hour yoga session without stopping the camera the entire time. I recorded it in DV format. I'm using a Sony Z5 with a HVR-MRC1 card recorder. When I open the folder on the CF card I have 3 clips for that entire time of recording... each taking off from where the previous ended. Shouldn't it be just one clip since I didn't stop the camera from recording? they are avi files also.
Importing. I'm seeing discussions about using a free download from sony. Is this just for HD? or will this download help with my DV clip breakage problem I discussed above. Here's the link I followed...
    http://pro.sony.com/bbsc/ssr/cat-broadcastcameras/resource.solutions.bbsccms-ass ets-cat-cambroprod-solutions-HDVfinalcutproTC.shtml.
When I import DV I have been just copying the file from the CF card to a folder on my Raid Array and then importing it into fcp. BUT why do I need to render it? I get the red line when I drop it in the timeline.
SO slightly confused on if I need the download... and why I need to render. Any help appreciated.

It depends on your cam's specs. The Canon 7D I have for instance only records 12 minutes at a time. (it is CF card as well) I couldn't find the specs for your cam.
Usually a plug-in for importing into FC for example lets you convert the video to something more 'editable' and not compressed. If you drop something into your timeline and the redline appears, it means your timeline settings differ from the dropped in clip and that is why it needs to be rendered.

  • How do I recover photos deleted from the memory card?

If you don't have any sucess with the free programs available Sandisk Rescue Pro can be downloaded for a test & if it finds the missing / damaged files you can then pay the licensing fee & retrieve your photos. I have used Rescue Pro more than once with excellent results. (Bailed out friends & relatives who either pulled the cable out while downloading or who formatted in camera by accident). Rescue Pro found files burried from more than 1 in camera format & reuse. Lexar also has a very good program for this but I don't remember it's name.  .

You can try to google about how to recover deleted photos on your memory card:
Access a USB port to connect your camera to your computer and recover deleted pictures
on your memory card. Download a photo recovery program for memory cards. Run the program by double clicking on the downloaded executable file and clicking "Run". Choose the drive containing the deleted picture files from the available card reader drives or camera drives in the pull-down menu. Indicate the location on your computer where you want the recovered files to be stored. Begin the restoration process by clicking on "Start." Or you can use Photo Recovery to recover deleted photos.

  • HTC Rhyme crashed - trying to recover sms from sd card

Hello. HTC Rhyme crashed and I'm trying to recover SMS texts from the SD Card.  There is a folder on the SD card labeled "sms_backup".  WIthin that folder, there is an unidentifiable file that is 29KB.  In the type of file block, it simply says "File."  Can I restore these on the phone to a readable format - if so, how?  Tried to transfer to a PC just for historical purposes, but regardless of which program I use to open it, it comes up in some type of cryptic code.  Please help.

Jay1, I know it can be difficult to lose precious info on your phone! The phone does not automatically backup SMS. Do you remember previously downloading an SMS backup application? If you did, you can re-download that application to recover your SMS. Search for SMS backup applications in the PlayStore and give it a try.
