Recovering computer

My computer needs to be recovered because of problems with not being able to burn which just cannot be fixed. After I put in the recovery CD and it goes back to the original format like when I first bought it, how do I get all my songs and information back? Do I just have to install the itunes software again and sign in some how from there? I'm afraid to try because I do not want to lose all my songs. It might sound confusing, but if anyone can help me with this problem, Thanks.

Before proceeding, back up your music and anything else which you want to save, and deauthorize your machine if applicable.

  • Can't download Acrobat 9.3 after recovering computer.

Here's my problem.  I just had to recover my computer.  Before the problem that caused the recovery I had downloaded Acrobat 9.3 and it worked fine.  Now I can't download 9.3.  When I try to download 9.3 as soon and the down load manager downloads I get a message that Acrobat 9.3 can't be downloaded.  In Add/Delete on the control panel where the installed programs are listed 9.3 is listed and when I try to remove Windows Installer opens and I get a message that says, "The feature you are trying to use is on a network resourse that is not availablle" and I can't remove it.
How do I get Acrobat 9.3 downloaded.  Thanks.

You haven't mentioned your OS an important factor. If you are not running Windows 7, use the Microsoft Installer Cleanup tool to remove all references to Reader on your computer's registry. Download the Adobe Reader exe file from here:

    Then try installing again.
Sorry for the lack on info, I am learning and didn't think to give the OS information.  So here goes.  I have a HP dc7600 computer running Windows XP SP3.  It has a 3 GB processor and 3GB Ram,  with and 80 GB HD.
Michael, I went to the followng link{ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/win/9.x/9.3/enu/}that you sent me and ran AdbeRdr930_en_US.exe.   But when the download was finished it started, automatically, trying to download Adobe Reader 9.3.  At the ent of the download I received this message "The feature you are trying to use is on a network resourse that is not available".  I was not prompted to run anything after the download of the exe it simply starting downloading Adobe Reader 9.3 and at the end of the download the above message about "a network resourse" was displayed.  This is the same message I get when I try to delete Adobe Reader 9.2 from the Add/Delete on the Control Panel were the installed programs are displayed.
I know that there is nothing wrong with the computer, nor is there any conflict between my computer and the Adobe website, because since I posted my seed thread, I have been prompted by a site that I needed to download Abode Flashplayer 10 Active X and it downloaded with no problems.
I have also searched me harddrive and can find no Adobe files so why does it show up in Add/Delete as an installed  program.  I have looked at every file on the HD that I can find and none are Adobe files.
At this point all I know is I have been able to download everything for the Adobe site that I have tried to except the Adobe Reader 9.3.
I appreciate all that has been done to try to help with this problem, any other help would also be appreciated.

  • How do i retrieve old itunes library on recovered computer?

I had to run recovery disk on my computer and need to retrieve my itunes library

It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer.  Use your backup copy to put everything back.
If for some reason you failed to maintain a backup ( not good), then you can redownload some itunes purchases in some countries:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

  • Black Screen after recovery, then says failed to recover computer

I have an HP DM4t-1100 Pavilion Entertainment Laptop. This laptop uses switchable graphics, Intel HD and AMD ATI Radeon 5000. I upgraded my laptop a while back ago to Windows 8 and there were some graphical errors because HP didn't have any display drivers that supported windows 8 so I used a driver from Leshcat. A year later I accidentally updated my laptop to windows 8.1 and thats when the real problem started. I tried to reinstall Leshcat drivers and it would work momentarily but after a while my computer would crash everytime on startup. (I had to uninstall AMD Cataylst to install Leshcat drivers so that could be a reason.)
I was done trying to find a driver that supported windows 8,1 so I decided to reformat my computer using the HP Recovery disks that were given to me when I gotten my laptop. I know the recovery disks work because I reformated my computer many times using the disks when I had trouble installing windows 8 a while back ago. Now after installing all the disks and the supplement disk, the computer finshes reformating and begins to install my drivers. It shows that it's installing all the drivers and then it restarts the computer. Afterwards there's a black screen for about an hour. After an hour there is an error message saying that recovery has failed and it said I should retry. I have retried many times and it's still getting the same error.
I saved an SRD error log. Should I post it here?

    Hello hploverkt,
I see that you're having an issue with doing a system recovery for your notebook, that you're getting an error saying it has failed. I will try to help you with this.
I'd recommend taking a look at this document: HP PCs - Troubleshooting System Recovery Problems (Windows 8). It is a long document that links to several sub documents. I'd recommend taking your time as you go through the steps to see if this can resolve the issue.
If you complete this and are still having issues. I'd recommend contacting support at that point for further assistance.

  • How to use Drive D to recover computer original set up

HP a1110N , XP, virus can't deleted by NORTON. How to run recovery Drive D1 Thanks

    TmmyLaw,
Before you go that far, try a more simple approach.
    1) Turn off computer
    2) Re-start, pressing F8 until selection panel opens, then Safe mode with Networking
    3) download Malwarebytes free version and install:http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free
    4) Update Malwarebytes (at top)
    5) Run full scan (45 minutes +/-)
    6)  remove trojan.
If the infected computer will not allow the download, use another computer and put the file on a thumb drive. Go back into Safe mode with networking,  Then install from the thumb drive Then followed steps 4-6.

  • G62 notebook won't boot from boot disk

Need to recover computer.  I ordered a boot disk from HP.  The disk arrived and my G62 notebook will not book from boot disk.  I checked the bios and it is set to boot from CD.  I also started in safemode and can't locate an autorun exe when I launch explorer.
Basically my computer was hijacked with a nasty virus that has completely taken over my PC.  If I boot normally all I see is an empty desktop and an start menu, can't even get a run prompt.  The virus is disguised as anti virus software and is trying to get me to pay for their $90 software suite to "correct" the problem.
If I hit F11 at start up, the recovery stalls and I get an eternal blank screen.
    Any suggestions?
    This question was solved.

    Hi, Courtney:
Try the free Kaspersky rescue CD.
That disk will get rid of viruses like those and the good thing is you don't need to be in Windows to run it.
It is a bootable CD (which you make from the download file) and using the graphic user interface (GUI) you can scan your PC for viruses and remove them.
    Link and instructions below:
    http://support.kaspersky.com/viruses/rescuedisk
Rather than changing the boot order, just start the notebook and at the beginning of the HP welcome screen, tap the F9 key to launch the one time boot menu.  Select the DVD Rom drive and hit the enter key.
You should then see a message displayed on your screen that states in substance:  "Attempting to boot from DVD...Press any key to boot from DVD..."
Press any key and the DVD or CD should boot up.

  • Bios/HDD error

I am working with a HP ENVY dv7-7254er Notebook PC with Windows 8 with 2 HDD disks.  Recently I faced a problem which prevents me from starting Windows: Black screen at the system start (F1,F2,F9,F10 working as intented, F11 gives no response). When I'm trying to run F2 diagnostics of hard disk I see this:
    SMART check: Passed
    Short DST: Failed
    Failure ID: Q0E07G-69V7AL-QFPPKOK-60W903
    Long DST: Failed
    Failure ID: Q0E07G-69V7AL-QFPKOK-61EH03
Even tho I have 2 disks I can check only one.
After few manipulations I made a loading USB flash-drive with win8,  to try system recovery, but when i try to recover the system it says:
Disk with Windows in locked, unlock it and try again (Bios checked - Security mode - disabled)
Automatic recovery gives no result, saying: Recovery tool was unable to recover computer.
Well (f*** that), after all of this, I was trying to install win8 on my other HDD, but when I try to do it from USB flash-drive It  seems like my computer hasn't any HDDs even tho my bios sees both of them
    1.  Anyone know what these failure codes mean?  Is my hard drive DOA?
    2.  Any suggestions for recovery?  I think the notebook is out of warantee.
    3.  How to recover my system or at least make it operating?
    Thanks!

DST: failed means  the hard drive has failed and will need to be replaced. If you are still in warranty HP will send a replacement. If not a retail laptop SATA hard drive can be used. Just be sure to get one of at least equal capacity as the original 1TB hdd  in order to use Recovery Media.
Maintenance & Service Guide HERE will help in replacing the hdd.

  • Restore Backup made with Backup and Restore W7 x64

    Hi ....
Im really looking for some help here...
I had my laptop stolen and my now trying to recover a 2013 Backup Image made with a Windows tool called Backup and Restore.
The backup was made with a W7 SP1 64bit using Windows own Backup/Restore utility to create a system image on an external HDD connected by USB port.
The application saved the image into a folder called WindowsImageBackup. Inside this folders there are 2 *.VHD file
So as my laptop was Stolen, im trying to recover this old Backup and save my files again.
I would like to restore that previous Image. These are the steps I took:
    1) Plugged in the HDD.
    2) I went to Control Panel->Backup and Restore.
    3) I selected 'Select another backup to restore files from'.
    4) In the Restore Files (Advanced) dialogue, my backup isn't showing into the box, because its on my external drive, so i choose browse network location
    5) I clicked 'browse network location' button, and it takes me to another restore files (advanced) dialogue that asks for network folder path.  I tried to locate my external HD, without success. So i tried Search Network. As i also have a copy of my
backup on my NAS, i tried to inform the network IP path, but it didnt locate the backup either. I get the error that windows was not able to find any backup sets in that directory.
    6) As the step 5 resulted in nothing, i tried the option: Recover system settings or Computer. And then Advanced recovery methods. And finally use previously system image to recover computer. And then Windows asks to reboot the computer and once rebooted
it starts on recovery mode where it cant find my backup image either.
So, how can i recover my backup?
I saw that the Backup created 2 VHD files and also tried to mount the VHD using Disk Management and attaching the VHD. The VHD mounted as drive and i could finally see my files, but most of them are corrupted. So i dont know if im doing something wrong when
    attaching the VHD.
Can anyone help me please? I dont know what else to try.
    Thanks a lot
    Flavio.

  • Restoring FileVault user from TimeMachine

My MBP is just past 3 years (about 1 month out of AppleCare). The machine will not boot from original MBP HD, but the original MBP HD will mount if started from other drive and all data appears to be there. I have tried TechTools and DiskUtility on original MBP drive. Both report problems, claim they fixed the drive, but MBP will not boot from the original HD.
I have one user on the original MPB Drive that is protected via FileVault. I also have recent Time Machine backup of that user. I need to recover that data (106GB). I have a new HD and 10.5 install disk and external box to put either HD. I have tried the restore function of the installer, but the user I need cannot log in - others not protected by filevault can log in. Further, when I log in as different user and look at the user whose data is protected by filevault, it does not look like the data has been restored (just identity).
So, what is the procedure to recover the user that is protected via filevault?

    djk_norman wrote:
I was able to see all of the files of that user as root and as that user - very odd - it appears as though those files were backup unencrypted?
Were they in a sparse bundle? If so, OSX was decrypting them "on the fly."
I just copied the data into the user account, logged in as that user, and all files appear to be there. Only issue now is Disk Utility fails on verify saying there is an incorrect file count. Probably need to do fresh install, then use migration agent.
    Try +*Repair Disk.+*
FileVaultDrive -> Backups.backupdb -> Name of Backed up Computer -> List of backups by date
[and now for the oddity, at the same hierarchical level]
    |-> User folder of user I want to recover
    |-> Computer HD name -> Users [and other folders] -> All users EXCEPT the one I wanted
I'm not sure I follow. In the sample in my last post, +*My Main User Account+* and TestAccount are both in the Users folder.
The only thing inside the TestAccount folder is the sparse bundle, containing the FileVault encrypted sparse bundle of the home folder. I've never looked in the structure as root, either.
I don't use File Vault myself -- I've used it on a test account to test and experiment, but that's about it.
Very strange? But I have my files, that's all that matter now! Thanks!
    Yup, that's the main thing!
Glad it's sorted out, and thanks for the feedback.

  • My Pages document will no longer show up on my iPad. It shows up on iCloud and i tried to download the document on to my computer. It only gives me an error and tells me to try again. Is there some way I could recover my document?

The other day I tried to open a document on my Pages app on my iPad. I soon notice I could no longer see it anywhere is my documents. I opened my laptop and went to iCloud.com to search for it there. On iCloud.com I am able to see the document but I can not do anything with it. I tried downloading it to my computer as a pdf. file but it just says error and to try again. I was able to copy the document but it does not allow me to download the copied document either. Is there some way I can recover the document or a pervious version of the document?

How are you seeing your document on iCloud from your laptop? Web browser, or OS X Pages open dialog?
If you have MS Word or .pages formatted files parked on iCloud, the web interface will not permit their download as PDF, and in fact, PDF is an inactive option in that download menu for these word processing files. There is no copy facility available, but duplicate functionality exists from the iWork category within the iCloud web presence.
If you have Pages v4.2 or later installed on your (assumption: Mac) laptop, launch Pages and in the open file dialog, select iCloud on the dialog toolbar. Now, press and hold the option key as you drag and drop a copy of our document from iCloud to your desktop. The reverse works also.
See if you can open that document on your laptop now.

  • I lost all of my Itunes music because of an infection that required them to wipe my computer.  I am trying to get the music back from multiple sources.  What I have recovered is a mess. Albums are mixed or songs not grouped as album. Help?

My computer got infected with some terrible virus.  I contacted the manufacturer and they said the only thing to do was wipe the whole thing. I could not back it up bec this mess?ause it would include the infection. I have been trying to recover the lost music from several different places.  A friend tried to help me by putting all of his music on my computer from his external hard drive. That was very nice of him but now it is a terrible mess. The recovered songs are not grouped into albums correctly.  Some albums are mixed - every other song is from the other album.  Some songs are listed separately and not grouped as an album.  I tried to ask iTunes to find album art work and it has been running that for over 48 hours. Is that possible?  When I try to stop it I get a message that says I will lose all the data.  I admit that I am not very tech. savvy and I really don't know what I am doing.  It took me more than 20 years to make that collection and I am heart broken. Do you have any ideas about how I start to fix

Unfortunately you've discovered too late how important it is to maintain an up-to-date backup of your iTunes library (and all other data of value).  You could, before wiping the drive, have considered making use of a commercial data recovery service that could (albeit at considerable cost) have extracted your library from the hard disk, even if virus infected.
In the absence of that option, you will need to restore the content of your library from its original sources:
Depending on your location, you may be able to re-download any iTunes Store purchases that are still available on the Store
Likewise, most digital purchases from Amazon (including auto-rip copies of purchased CDs) should be available from the Amazon Cloud and via the Amazon Music application - the same may be true of other commercial sources for digital downloads
Content imported from your CDs will have to imported again
The specific situation that you describe regarding the music imported from your friend's external HDD suggests that either the source is badly organized and/or originates from a source other than iTunes (other media players may use alternative tags for information like artist, title, album, etc. that are not wholly consistent with how iTunes handle these).  Without details of the issues you're seeing it is difficult to suggest a remedy other than going through the media album-by-album, track-by-track, and correcting the inconsistencies.
In the absence of a backup or access to the original library data there is no option other than painstakingly recreating your library as described above.  As you do so, you'll now realize how important creating and maintaining backups are - in my case I have at all times three separate duplicates of my library, in two different locations, where none is ever more than a week old compared to the content of my master library.
