Recovering contacts from an .NBU file

We found a great site with a tool that extracts contacts from an NBU backup file into a set of VCARD files:
http://www.tienhuis.nl/nokia-pc-suite-empty-contact-list-fix
I have tested this with an N82 backup made on PC Suite 7.1 and it worked fine for me!

Great share!

  • Lost phone - how to recover contacts from Nokia PC...

Regrettably I recently lost my Nokia 6303 along with all my contacts. I did however sync and backup my 6303 with Nokia PC Suite. I have since bought a replacement - a Nokia 5800 - and am trying to import my old contacts (from the lost 6303) to my new replacement (the 5800) - but I can't see how to do this within Nokia PC Suite.
    Any thoughts very welcome!

If you'd backup the phone memory as a .nbu file, you can restore it using content copier.
If the content copier fails to restore, you can try to open/extract the content from the .nbu file via Noki which is a Nokia backup file explorer and extractor. For details, please check the Noki data recovery guide.

  • How can i import contacts from a csv file to "iCloud Contacts"?

How can I import contacts from a csv file to "iCloud Contacts"?

The only way I know of to import cells from a csv file is by creating a new file.  But then you can select the desired cells and copy them to the other file.  I just did it to be sure it works.
    1. Create the new spreadsheet file via the upload command.
    2. Select the cells (table) that you want to move to the other file and press command+C (copy).
    3. Close the new file and open the existing file.
    4. Select the top/right cell of the area to receive the copied "table" and press commant+V (paste).
I hope this is what you're trying to do!

  • How can I import contacts into my icloud contacts from an excel file?

I need to add contacts to my icloud contact data base.  Can I import from an Excel file?
    Thanks,

Not directly, export from Excel to a .csv file, then convert the .csv file to a .vcf (vCard) file. Then iCloud can import the vCard file.
Here is a free csv to vcard conversion utility.

  • Recovering Data from an odb file found on a Dell X51 mobile device.

I have had a db get over written that wasn't getting backed up and now all I have to recover from is an Ora 10g LIte R2 odb file recovered from a Dell Axim X51. I am wondering what is the best way to recover this data from the odb file.
    Thank you.

If you have all your odb files + conscli.odb + polite.txt files recovered, you could try to sync the databases from another device. just install oracle lite on some other device, copy all the *.odb + polite.txt into \orace directory on the device and setup odbc.txt file according to your databases (you can use odbc.txt from the crashed device if you also restored it). Then you can try to sync the device - the modified data should be send to server.
If you wasn't able to restore the conscli.odb file, you'll probably have to write some custom application which will export the data you need...

  • How to recover contacts from nokia 3230 memory?

I have Nokia 3230 mobile, it is now having problem in getting powered on. I contacted the nearby Nokia care center, they told they can reset the phone, but all sms and contacts will be erased. But I need to recover all my contacts from the phone.
I bought a memory card reader & using which I have managed to read the memory card of the phone, but it only recovers images and videos. This does not shows the sms and contacts.
Where are my contacts and sms stored(they are not in SIM memory as I tried inserting SIM in different mobile phone)?
How can I recover my contact list and sms messages from the phone memory?
    Pls help.

Don't think thats possible, unless the phone switches ON.
A lesson learnt is..Always back-up your data at regular intervals especially after you make changes...
BTW, does the phone need a Reset ? If its just some electronic problem they can rectify it without loss of any data. Only if its some Software related issue then they need to Reset the device... and hope you have confirmed that its not the Battery that is the cause of the dead phone..

  • Importing Contacts From An Excel File for Z10's

    Good Day,
I know there is a way to do this using older versions of the Desktop Software. The main problem is that with the Z10's and our OS 10 devices that it isn't recognized. What we want to do in our office is that when we hand out our mobile phones, that we are able to place a company directory of sorts for all those who have mobile phones distributed to us. We already have this information in an excel file. I want to know if there is a way to do this, so that the contacts can be placed on the new device and merged or synced with the contacts from their older phones or exchange account. Sincerely appreciate any assistance that I can get.

A way that I was able to move contacts was to do this from Hotmail.
Create a Hotmail account for each phone. If you want them all identical, then create one account and sync asw many phones as you want. Sync the Z10's to the hot mail account. Hotmail can be synced to MS Outlook. Outlook can get the addresses or contacts from Excel as an import. You will have to look up how to do this, but it can be done.
Import the Excel contacts in to Outlook. Sync Outlook to Hotmail. Sync the Z10 or Q10 to Hotmail. You will have to leave the phones synced. The phones will be active to Hotmail. This is a good way to operate because the Hotmail account will become a cloud backup for the contacts.
To sync Outlook to Hotmail, you will have to install the Outlook Hotmail Tool from Microsoft. It is called the Hotmail Outlook Connector.

What I like is when I make a change to the contracts in any of our Z10 phones, or Outlook, or Hotmail, everything follows the change. For us it has been working very well. The phone can theoretically be anywhere on the planet, and as long as it has proper internet access it will be updated.

  • Recovering material from Microsoft Works files.

I created several documents using Microsoft Works on an older Windows XP PC. They were saved on a zip drive. I opened those files on my new iMac, and it recognized that they were not in any program that my Mac had, so it used some kind of program or option to recover the words from the Works files. They were somewhat out of order, but for the most part, what I had typed was still there, and all I had to do was copy and paste and edit into Microsoft Word for Mac. But, I've recently tried again to get the rest of the material that I had not copied and pasted, and now my Mac won't do the magic it did before. Can anyone help? Thanks!

Hi jon28127: You might want to try an office suite called NeoOffice. It lists MS Works files as one of its file types. You can then save the files as another file type. It is free and available here: http://www.neooffice.org/neojava/en/download.php#download
    Hope this helps

  • How do I restore Contacts from an archived file?

I have found that my Contacts have been corrupted by a program that was designed to find duplicates.  Many missing contact listing, text data removed from many more.
I have an archived copy of the data from the program that precedes the problem, and I have Time Machine backups that go back before this occurred.
I cannot find information on how to restore from either the archived contact list file, or how to restore just the contacts from the Time Machine backup
I am using OSX Mountain Lion, 10.8.4.
    Any help appreciated....

Delete the contacts in Contacts, double click on the archive (.abbu) file.
    Or
Open Contacts, enter Time Machine, scroll back to the time when the contacts were fine, restore from there.

  • Recovering contacts from iCloud

    Hello,
I have iPhone 5 and I purchased iPhone 6 so I gave my old iPhone to my sister and she deleted all my contacts using an app called multi delete. Now my new iPhone have no contacts. Both phones have the same iCloud account. How can I recover my contact.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
To restore from a back up made through iTunes, follow these instructions.
To restore from a back up made through iCloud, try the following:
The difficulty in restoring iCloud data from a back up is that the back up is older than the current version on iCloud and anything that is restored gets removed again when an iCloud sync occurs.
Ensure the device is connected to your local network.
Start the restore from iCloud back up.
Allow the devices settings to restore (watch for the confirmation of completion).
As the apps begin to restore pull the connection to your router WAN port (the one that goes to the telephone point).
Wait for the time out confirmation.
Navigate to settings > iCloud and turn off contact syncing (keep contacts when prompted).
Reconnect the router to the internet and let the restore process complete.
Delete any iCloud contacts from iCloud.com on a computer.
Navigate to settings > iCloud and turn on contact syncing (merge contacts when prompted).
May I suggest that you carry out a back up to iTunes before you try anything, that way should things become even worse, you can at least restore back to where you are now.

  • ¿how to recover gb from lost music files?

i delete all the music from itunes, and from the folder of music, but in the system information says that i have 32 gb of audio, and i dont know where is all that music, i want to know if there is a hidden folder with all the music or what?
    please help =D

I guess the thread didnt help, if you are asking...
Btw, photos is one of the things I havent recovered yet. And I think in my case they were not in the backup, but this is either because photos are not stored there, or because I have overwrited the backup somehow.
I am a PC user and in my case the backup extractor couldnt read the backup either, because these files were missing. I simply copied these files from another backup (I have the latest iTunes 10 and iOs 5, and have multiple backups now, before the update I had only 1 backup - I think I was with iTunes 9 or earlier and definitely iOs4) in the folder of the corrupted backup (you have the backup location for PC in my thread linked above).
The second step is to open each of these 4 files, but I think the key file is the info.plist and maybe the manifest.plist with Notes and Find (ctrl+f) and replace the folder's name and eventual date/time with the one these files are now - the corrupted backup folder. I think the date and time were contained actually in the folder's name. You may Find in Notes the folder's name by looking for the year of the backup you have copied from the .plist files.
Now, the backup extractor program should be able to read the corrupted backup.
    Hopes this helps.

  • How to recover contacts from a stolen iphone

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
If they were in iCloud, just log onto your account on another device or access them at iCloud.com on a computer.

  • Recovering contacts from encrypted back up

I stupidly managed to lose my iPhone; luckily I have it insured and a back up on my PC so it’s not too big a deal.
Until I get my replacement iPhone through is there a way I can view the encrypted back I have on my PC so I can get all my contacts from it?

Contacts should be available on your computer with or without an iPhone or any cell phone which can be lost or stolen, fail due to a hardware problem, or be damaged beyond repair or for access due to accidental damage.
When you get your iPhone replacement, the iPhone is designed to sync contacts with a supported address book application on your computer. With Windoze this can be with Outlook 2003, 2007, or 2010 along with syncing calendar events and notes, or with the address book application used by Outlook Express with XP and used by Windows Mail with Vista and Windows 7 called Windows Contacts for syncing contacts only.
After transferring your encrypted iPhone backup to your iPhone replacement, before the first sync with a supported address book application on your computer that is empty - doesn't include any contacts, enter one contact in the address book app on your computer. This will provide a merge prompt with the first sync for this data which you want to select. Syncing contacts with a supported address book application on your computer is selected under the Info tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes.

  • Import emails and contacts from a .pst file

my computer crashed and I was using old microsoft outlook. I have a carbonite .pst file ready to import into Thunderbird but I cannot figure out how to do it because I do not have microsft outlook on this new computer. Only the carbonite file.

It is not at all difficult to have mutiple mail accounts in Outlook (though you may only have a single Exchange account).  The OST file is only for offline sync of a mailbox ("Cached Exchange Mode") and should only exist on portable machines that need to access existing mail without having access to the Exchange server (eg, read and reply to mail on an airplane).
As to why he has outside email synced to the computer, he's the CEO.  You wanna tell him no?  I would love to, but such a thing would get me fired.
It does make sense that the sync of calendars and contacts doesn't affect mail, but it's not completely correct.  The default data file chosen for mail delivery is the data file iTunes chooses to sync contacts with; thus, it absolutely does affect mail delivery.
Please stop referring to the OST file as a mail destination - it is not, and cannot be.  The default mail delivery destination is currently the PST file, which allows him to sync his contacts and calendars from that same PST file but removes mail from the Exchange server and deposits it in the PST.  If I change the default delivery location back to his Exchange mailbox, his mail goes to the correct place, but he loses access to the PST's contacts and calendar from his phone.

  • Recovering mailbox from offline EDB file

We went from Exchange 2003 to 2007 on a totally separate box.  During migration, some users were shown as legacy mailboxes.  They are pointing to the old server.  This old server (Windows SBS 2003) has been decommissioned and exchange has
been completely removed from the server.  I was able to look through the files and find a large EDB file which I believe houses these legacy mailboxes.    This EDB file is not mounted at all.  They reside in an archived folder which may
have been created from another administrator for backup purposes.  How can I go about pointing these users to this file or possible exporting the contents of the EDB file.  I'm not trying to spend any money on 3rd party software.  I figured
there must be a way to point to this file and/or mount it to our existing exchange server.

I've followed these steps and other found online with no luck.  I am using the Microsoft Exchange Troubleshooting Assistant.  I made sure DB was in a clean state.  Moved the DB to RSG folder and tried mounting.
I tried renaming the database to "Mailbox Database".  If I do not, when I try mounting, it does not show the actual DB name that I copied into the RSG folder.  When attempting to mount im presented with the following error: Received
the following error: Error code: MapiExceptionCallFailed: Unable to mount database. (hr=0x80004005, ec=-1213)
When creating a new RSG, it mentions "only databases from the linked storage group can be mounted in the recovery storage group".  SO I decided to move the DB's to the First Storage Group directory, thinking I would be able to pull the correct database.
Upon creation, it asks for Transaction log folder, system folder and database folder.  I tried several times to point to the recovered database file, all failing on me.  For example:
Under "Database folders and file names" shows Mailbox Database.  The Database path is pointing to the First Storage Groups Mailbox Database and the Recovery database path is pointing to the RSG folder.  However, when I try to change this to point
to the ACTUAL DB that I copied over, it wont let me create the RSG.  Only way around is the keep everything defaulted. I then copy the DB files to the RSG folder, try to mount and presented with the above error....
