Recovering damaged HDD of CE507

Hi,
We have a CE507 (version 2.x). Someone has tried to install Linux in the past over the CE507 SCSI drive. Looks like he succeeded. The issue is how to recover the situation back, so I can install the ACNS software on it.
1. Should I format the HDD and what kind of filesystem to put?
2. How to install the loader?

Hi,
indeed I have an older version of the CE507, and the situation is a bit different.
My CE BIOS version shows: BIOS Version:
"CE500 01.11"
And here is what happens:
ress any key to stop auto-boot...

0x20 - disable login security
0x40 - use bootp to get boot parameters
0x80 - use tftp to get boot image
0x100 - use proxy arp
I am changing the boot params for the CE507 to configure the ethernet interface and take its rescue image from a ftp server, but no luck:

The location is pretty correct, because via ethereal I see how the CE507 grabs the file from the ftp server.
I have tried to let the CE507 load many files,
but no luck.

  • How to recover my hdd

So my macbook pro late2010 crashed last week and I took it to the apple store on 5th ave.
Turns out the logic board was damaged so they sent it out for it to be fix.
I didnt get a chance to backup my macbook cause it wouldnt start. So I lost all my files data ect.
They replaced the logic board and wiped the macbook but...They kept the same hdd
Is there any way I can recover the files since its the same hdd ??

I've used Data Rescue 3 with good results - but, as far as I know, it won't be able to completely recover your apps, system files, etc. It works best on data files.
If you want to attempt to completely recover the entire disk, I don't know of a way that you can do it yourself - I don't even know that a forensics data recovery center could do that: if you're in NYC, you can always Google and find a forensics data recovery lab and ask them if they would be able to 'completely' recover a drive but I'm betting that the answer will be "no."
But it's worth looking it up and phoning, I suppose - it may be quite expensive.

  • T410s - Recovering Dead HDD

My T410s which had shutdown quite normally and didn't give any indication of problems died suddenly with a blue screen of death. I tried rebooting in different safe modes, The disk is cold dead and inaccessible even as a slave drive on another computer. My tech support person said he tried to "freeze" (as is low temperature) the HDD in the hope that it might jiggle the platters back to action. Didn't work either.
Any suggestions on recovering files from the disk since I have some files that I really need?
My tech support says that since data is encrypted, even a data recovery service will be unable to read the files. But I wonder whether such folks couldn't do a bit-level copy to another disk which I can then read off as a slave drive?

If you "recovered" your hard drive using the built in partition, I'm sorry to say, your files are gone.

  • How to recover damaged docx?

At around 1:20PM, i wrote up a report, and I only needed to add one graphic into it to complete it. So I saved and closed all my documents and windows, turned off the computer, and went to lunch. The docx was saved on a USB drive that I left plugged into my computer, which i bought less than two weeks ago.
I came back an hour later, turned on the computer, and opened the docx and a small window popped up with a list and said "convert file from."
so i made a copy of my docx, and tried opening with all the options available. the ones that did open were blank.
there is no tmp file, no autosave.
how do i recover this document, and what ever happened??

Sometimes faced with a situation where archiver refuses to unpack ZIP format tainted because of the internal structure.
Similar trouble happens for a variety of reasons: the incorrect delivery by e-mail archive, incomplete (partial) file
downloading from the Internet, copy data from corrupted media.
To repair a corrupt zip file you need a special zip repair tool, like
ZIP Recovery Toolbox. It read and extract files
from archive on HDD. Later you can re-create archive again from a saved files.

  • Help - Picking up the pieces of a damaged HDD

In summary, I put my eggs all in one basket for a brief period and have payed the price. My setup is/was as follows:
500GB SSD in my Mac Book Pro (as a scratch disk)      - Storing the Lightroom 5 catalogue
1TB Thunderbolt Lacie 'Rugged' HDD                              -With all my photographs
You can guess what's coming, two days ago I plugged my 'bolt drive' into my Mac and suddenly its displaying 999GB of free space; when I know there's 670GB of photos on there. Disk Utility shows the free space and also the reality of the used 670GB of used space. - Queue panic sweats! After taking a deep breath I opened up my 'Disk Drill' software and attempted a quick scan - I didn't touch the drive to write to it after discovering this fault, so I was hopeful. - Alas the quick scan failed, but the "deep scan" after 24hrs yielded results. Finding all my 670GB (plus some deleted files to) worth of photos. "Yay" you think?
Here (as I believe americans call it) is "The Kicker" ... All my recovered images are separated into their respective formats and titled 000001.jpg/cr2... ect through to 23,000. But not in date order, with their date created/modified altered to the past couple of days during the recovery process.
Since my LR5 catalogue is 'safe' on my laptop, opening up the software shows all my images in their respective folders, all sorted with metadata ect, with LR quizzically highlighting the fact it can't find the original file.
Is there any way to link to two? I know I could extract whatever previews LR saved onto my Laptop as JPEG format, but is there a 'quick/efficient' way to re-sync the catalogues and files together?
I'm not in need of a lecture, my 8TB raid hard drive has just arrived, to prevent future incidents like this. But if anybody is able to shed any light on how to quickly put things together I will be eternally grateful.

    Hello,
I wrote a detailed article on my blog on this problem. The basic idea is:
    1. Rename all your recovered files to some unique name based on exif data. I suggest something like: 20140725-101324. This can be done with exiftool.
    2. Export all filenames and needed exif data from the Lightroom into a text files (csv). This can be done with a sql statement or the "List View" plugin.
    3. Use some tool to create a script file that renames and moves the recovered files to the original Lightroom names and location. This can be done with text processing languages as awk or sed. On my blog I show to to use OpenOffice for this.
I was able to reassign files to the entries in the Lightroom catalog using these tree steps.

  • How to recover damaged library?

I have been using iTunes since 4.8 and now using 5.0. Occasionally my library would corrupt for no reason. I wonder what is the best way to recover the damaged library, so I won't have to reload my iPod shuffle again and again. Thanks!

I had this happen to me yesterday. I had my iTunes 5 running for a few days without a restart. I rebooted the computer, then started iTunes. I have a very large library, and so the "Importing songs" progress box came up and was reimporting all my songs for some reason. When it got to the end, I got the Windows XP there was an error would you like to send a report to Microsoft screen. I said no. Then an iTunes error that said the library was corrupt and backed up to a file called ituneslibrary(damaged).itl. I don't know if that helps. This is the first time this has happened to me. I don't know why iTunes tried to reimport my entire library again. Peculiar.
    Todd.

  • HOW CAN I RECOVER DAMAGED SESSIONS.

I recently installed V8 in my computer, (I upgraded from 7.2). When I first started working performance seemed a little slow in the beginning but after a while I started having constant crashes. I decided to go back to V7 because I was working on a really important project. I did a fresh reinstallation but now I can´t open any of my sessions because LOGIC says that the files "might be damaged" or that they are not in a LOGIC "recognizable format",(which is not the case). I really need to recover those sessions and get back to work ASAP. PLEASE HELP.

Thank you for your response. I only created one song with LOGIC 8, (that is when LOGIC began crashing). I never opened any other sessions. Once I had this big crash with this one song I went back to completely remove LOGIC 8 and did a fresh reinstallation of LOGIC 7. I have not gone back to LOGIC 8 ever since but I can’t load or play anything now with LOGIC 7. WHAT CAN I DO?

  • Recovering from HDD crash - Netboot Images

    Howdy's,
Essentially, I have a G4 (866mhz) Quicksilver tower as a server here. Its an older machine but does its job. Until such time as I started to lose the HDD.
All of the LDAP/WGM configs I've been able to recreate. No problem there.
However, /Library/Netboot/NetbootSP0 has a few Netboot images that are used for imaging here.
Because of the HDD starting to fail, I've had to recreate the server. I would have expected that just copying from the original drives, to a share, and then back again would have it work.
    Not so.
When copying back and starting the NetBoot service, it's picked up the images, and the configs (joy!) that were their previously.
However, if I try to Netboot a G3, G4 or Intel (which all worked 3 weeks ago) they crash during the boot process. The crash is pretty random and basically results in a corrupted screen display.
Given that one of the images has had about 3 years worth of development in it that has ZERO documentation about it.. I'd like to recover, not reproduce
Where should I be looking for more information? Does anyone have any guides/howto's I should be looking at?
    Cheers,
    Jason

    Somewhat solved.
I have no idea why this failed originally, but... I didn't have enough space on any Mac machine to copy (scp/cp/finder copy and paste) the images to when the machine was still running.
    So I copied them to a Win2k3R2 SMB/CIFS share.
That seems to have been the problem.
Got hold of a Firewire caddy, pulled the data off the old drive (after 10 attempts, that's one sick drive and tried again. Success.
There must be some meta-data or the like associated with the files themselves that caused this.
Even with HIGH logging on the Netboot server, there is no difference in the previous logs to the current one. The current attempts just boot..

  • How to recover damaged files

This is the scenario that i have at the moment:
my hd failed; almost dead...rush in the emergency room using stellar software to recover data! but the app is lost somewhere, so get diskwarrior and try to rebuild the disk....good! now move all these video files (QT and AVI, some m4p).
After throwing away the disk (that died after the stress of the data recovery), i checked the files....and many of them do not play!
Now, is there any way on earth to save these clips or recover part of them? is sad to see that 3/4 of my past 14 years are basically gone....
Tried to play with itunes, QT, VLC player and DIvx Player with no luck; same when i tried with WMP on an XP machine running on parallels (tried also a windows software that was claiming to be able to repair the files,,,no success)
I know that this issue is more generic than QT itself, but i hope that the experts that visit this forum could have some hints, before deleting 123 GB of movies that i cannot see//open/modify.
    Thanks!

    Rick,
Sadly my vids does not even play from the start... and i do not have the will to learn QT format and code by myself an utility that can get partial stream from the damaged movies; same goes for WMV files and AVI files (and also because i think that i am not the only one to have a problem like that, so other people smarter than me would either make a software or find a way to fix the clips)
Your idea is not correct...14 years of video didn't survived for so long without backup (and countless drives lost during the way, when tapes were the uber format, and dvd-r were in our wildest dream, since too expensive); now we need to analyze why this happened to me:
i had a drive and a mirror of the drive...sadly when the blocks went bad, there was no check on the data blocks, but only on the data format and integrity on the size (both things that were OK), so my mirrored drive got happily the data that came from the mirrored drive...getting the corrupted data too.
So i have on one drive the original material with bad blocks, and on my mirrored drive (with good block but corrupted data files) i have all my files, but few of them plays, since the data is corrupted.
Software on the market (stellar and others) either on pc or mac, were not able to recover the data, so after that the original drive died i decided that maybe was worth the try to extract as much as possible from the corrupted files.....
This is my story I am not victim of my own stupidity to not back up, but a victim of a faulty software (veritas) that sadly do not recognize that something is wrong if the datablocks starts to fail
Maybe should i have a backup of the backup? who knows....

  • How to recover damaged windows that have installed oracle 9i?

    Hi.
Now I got oracle 9i server on windows XP for develop purpose.

I'm sure that oracle server doesn't have any problem. I want to recovery them.
Here're what I want to ask.
    1. Re-install windows and oracle. and copy or migrate that can be possible way database data file to recovery procedures and packages. Is it possible?
    2. Can I recovery with those database data file? Unfortunately I didn't export or backup file. T.T
    3. What command should I use when I recovery them.
    4. What files should I move to new oracle location(new data folder)? or Can I assign those data files when I re-install oracle software?
    Thanks in advance

Are you able to boot the Windows XP computer in safe mode (press the F8 key several times immediately after the computer's post screen disappears after turning the computer on).
Do you have a second computer with a spare hard drive connector? If so, you could install the drive in that computer (as D;, E;, etc.) and copy the database related files off the drive, if the drive itself is not damaged. If the Oracle files are still in good condition (not corrupt), you could reinstall the exact same Oracle Database version on a new computer, use ORADIM to create a new service (for the database instance) with the same name, shut down the service, copy over the files that were salvaged, and then start up the service. If all of the files are there in the expected locations, including the control files, online redo logs, datafiles, spfile, etc. and all expected directories are present, there is a good chance that the database will open when the ORADIM created service is started.

  • Qosmio F50 - How to recover from hdd?

    Hello,
I got a very big problem.
I made some changes with my Vista regs and then I was unable to start it up again.
So, I started recovery program (second HDD), backed-up my files and selected whole HDD recovery.
Well, now problem - everything looked fine, but when I got into Vista set-up I had to shut the computer down.
Now, when I start the pc and load Vista I get message that I should reinstall my computer again.
Well, but they say nothing about how to load recovery file, because I get no option to do that - only Emergency mode, Emergency with network support, etc. but no recovery. By the way, when I select Emergency mode, I cannot load Vista either - it says that I have to run configuration in normal mode, which says to re-install. Yep, -_- circle.
    Model: Qosmio F50
Do u think that when I delete whole Vista disk manually - e.g. with linux and then start the computer up, I get option to load second part of the disk to start installation?
Thanks in advance since I am really despair

There has NEVER been an option to use F8 (or when am I supposed to push F8?). I could always enter recovery mode ONLY when Windows did not load successfully (in the past I could not start emergency mode). I guess I do not have to order it since I started ubuntu, and copied entier HDDRecovery folder onto my external drive, so I guess I gotta buy DVD which has ~6GB and burn content of the folder (not folder itself?). and then it will boot from the DVD? (like windows when u install it).
By the way, I guess there is no way to start recovery from ext. hdd (yea a silly bios).
I know I should back it up myself, but Toshiba could give one cd with the notebook. However, it is probably their policy. How many people burn recovery? well, they need to make some money ....
If you have any other recommandations, please let me know :)

  • HT203167 How to recover damaged songs bought on itunes

I have damaged songs on a album i purchased on itunes can anyone help???

If your country's iTunes Store allows you to redownload purchased tracks, I'd delete your current copies of the tracks and try redownloading fresh copies. For instructions, see the following document:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
Otherwise, I'd report the problem to the iTunes Store.
Log in to the Store. Click on "Account" in your Quick Links. When you're in your Account information screen, go down to Purchase History and click "See all".
Find the items that are not playing properly. If you can't see "Report a Problem" next to the items, click the "Report a problem" button. Now click the "Report a Problem" links next to the items.

  • Partition Recover, damaged from bootcamp

I was trying to install Ubuntu Fiesty on the 2nd drive, and managed to delete the wrong hard drive (partition is gone).
I have deleted the partition, but never initiated so far. Is there any way I can recreate/recover the partition so I can restore all the data that I lost?
I have tried some commercial data recovery software, but it doesn't seem to recover the files even though it sees the files after 1-2 hours of scan.
any help is greatly appreciated. If this is not the right forum to post this, let me know where.
    Thanks in advance.

Would re-creating the partition using fdisk work?
    i.a.) fdisk -e /dev/rdisk1
then create the partition which uses entire disk ( think that's what it was).
Would this recreating partition recovers all the data in the hd disk?
any one had this type of issue before?
