Recovering data from old iCloud backups of iPhone & iPad

Hello.  I had an iPad and iPhone stolen several months ago while traveling.  They had been backed up in iCloud, and appear as device backups in my "manage" page in iCloud viewed on my laptop.  Upon returning home I purchased a new iPad and iPhone, and started using them, assuming the old data lost.  My son pointed out that the old data is still available on iCloud.  But I don't want to erase my new iPad and & iPhone by restoring the old backups.  How do I just download my old photos & documents onto my laptop?

There is no way to do that if they are iCloud backups. If the backups are on your computer you use one of the many backup extractor programs that you can find with an Internet search. If you restore an older iCloud backup it will erase all of the content on your phone and replace it with the contents of the backup.

How to restore Data from past iCloud backup?
Is there a way where i can retrieve my spreadsheets from the past iCloud backup of numbers?

Your Numbers documents were synced with iCloud so they would be stored on the server rather than being included in the backup.  If you were signed into your iCloud account on a Mac that you were backing up with Time Machine, you could restore them from your Time Machine backup.

  • Trying to Recover Data From Old Backup Exec Tapes

I have been tasked with recovering data from an old Windows XP machine with an HP C1537A DDS3 tape drive.  The machine used Backup Exec to create the tapes.  In trying to recover the data I constantly get an error that says the data on the tape is inconsistent.  I tried to run the HP analysis utility but it said the error log of the drive was full and it would be necessary to do a firmware load to clear it.  I therefore loaded the lastest firmware.
I ran the HP analysis utilities using one of the tapes as a scratch tape (to write over):
Test 'DDS Drive Assessment Test' started on device 'HP C1537A' at address '6/0.0.0'

The tape that was used in the analysis was a maxlell HS-4/125s DDS3 tape -- the same type that was used to create the backup tapes.
Why does the drive think I am using "very old tapes not designed for this drive"?  The tapes were witten to by this drive.
    What is a "Non-MRS" tape?
The end results appears to be that "no problems were found" but Backup Exec reports that the tapes have inconsistent data.
Any suggestions on how to make the tapes readable by Backup Exec would be appreciated.
I am using Backup Exec 9.1 Rev 4691.  Please do not suggest using a later version as this is the latest version that (1) will run on a Windows XP Pro box and (2) that supports the tape drive.

    Saberman,
Have you tried the Enterprise/Business forum for this?  I doubt anyone here on the consumer section will be able to help you with Tape Storage.
Here is the link to the Tape section of the forum.

  • HT4910 i accidently deleted a note from my iphone 5 is there any way to recover it from an icloud backup?

I accidently deleted a note from my iphone 5 is there any way to recover it from icloud?

You have to start by erasing the phone so if there's any newer data on it that is not contained in your last backup, you'll need to save that first.  Then go to Settings>General>Reset, tap Erase All Content and Settings, go through the setup screens on the phone and when given the option, choose Restore from iCloud Backup.  Then sign into your iCloud account and choose your backup to restore from.
Be sure you phone is connected to wifi and your charger as this may take a while to finish.

  • Friend deleted app (my disk for iphone) and need to get back data from my icloud backup...need help!

I had this app called my disk (app store name is: Lock photo+video safe - secure folder manager to protect private photos vault & hide secret picture file privacy) This app lets me have two passwords with different pictures and videos in each of them. It's a really great app.
My friend deleted the app by "accident" and I need to get the app back with all my data. I have a backup of the app on my icloud backup that was taken place two months ago (around same time the app was deleted). It shows up in the cloud saying I have 4gb worth of that app in the cloud. I restore my phone back to that backup but the app data is not there. I wasn't sure if I had to wait till my iphone backs up everything (like music and pictures for example) for it to show up but as soon as the app downloaded I opened it hapilly knowing I have my data back but unfortunately it was not there. In the app itself, there's an option to backup from the cloud but it just brings up this window that says you can back up from the cloud (doesn't have a place to hit that says restore or anything).
Is there something I am doing wrong? Can anyone help me? I really need that app data back because I have pictures of memories with friends and family inside that app that I do not have anywhere else. Once i get the back back ill be sure to save the photos onto my computer just incase anything goes wrong again.
    Thanks everyone for the help!

It seems that in a case like this you'd need to reset the device to factory settings and then restore from iCloud backup.
Sadly the reset to factory settings could cause more trouble than its worth.
Apple's iCloud backup, could, but does not let the user restore one app or its data.
You'll also find that even though that App's data is in the cloud, you as its owner do not have access to it.
    Hope it helps/

  • Getting back my photos from old iCloud backup

Both my laptop and iPhone got stolen (life ***** )
It was iPhone 4 and I had it regullary backed up to iCloud.
Next I bought a new iPhone5 and started using it as new device (didn't restore the iPhone4 backup). It has it's own iCloud backup (so currently my iCloud got 3 backups: iPhone5, iPad and iPhone4 - which i don't have the device).
Also bought a new laptop... (meaning no old iTunes backup)
So, only place I have a backup of the last 3 years images+videos are inside my old iPhone4 backup on iCloud.
Question: how do I pull this backup out of iCloud without: A. formatting my iPhone5, B. buying some old iPhone4 on eBay just so I restore the old backup to it.
    Thanks!

You can't. iCloud backups are not viewable or editable. If you want the data, you'll have to restore it to an iOS device in order to get it.

  • TS4036 How do I restore from an iCloud backup into my iPad?

I'm trying to restore an app, which was accidentally deleted, how can I do that?

If it was on your iPad when you last backed up to iCloud, you can recover it by restoring to the entire backup (assuming it's still in the app store).
Restoring to an iCloud backup has to be done in the initial setup process.  If you have any data on your iPad now that is not in the backup that you want to save you'll need to do that first.  Then go to Settings>General>Reset and tap Erase All Content and Settings.  You will then go through the setup screens and when given the option, choose Restore from iCloud Backup.  Be sure you are connected to wifi and your charger as this will take some time to finish.
Or, if you just want to get the app back and not the app data, just redownload it as a past purchase: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2519.

  • Restore to MBP from old iCloud backup

I have had 3 different iPhone 5s.  I had a backup in iCloud back in April from my original phone.  I have a Macbook Pro as well.  I would like to restore some of the information saved on that first backup to my MBP.  I had a lot of pictures on that first phone that I have never recovered.  Is it possible?
    Thank you
    Deborahlo

You cannot restore ios backups on icloud to a mac.  Macs do not back up to nor restore from icloud, that's only for iDevices.

  • Recovering data from stolen z10 backup to new Z10

How possible is it to update a new Z10 with settings etc from a back up from my stolen Z10 through BB Link?

Very possible, if the former Z10 backup was made to your PC using the Link software.
Connect your new Z10 to the PC, start Link.
You'll need to setup Link for the new device with the your BBID.
Backup/Restore > Restore, select the most recent back up of the former device and proceed.

  • Why cant I restore a new installation of iTunes from  an iCloud backup to my iPad

I recently had a virus and had to reinstall a new copy of Windows, in doing this I also had to reinstall iTunes, I always thought the idea of iCloud was that if you ended up with the situation that I was in then you could restore your equipment to the state of the last backup that you did, I have looked everywhere for a link that would allow me to obtain my last backup and there isn't one available this obviously tells me that the Apple iCloud qppearsto be a total waste of time and effort, I have also just downloaded and installed a fresh copy of iCloud manager logged in with my original iTunes ID and clicked on Sync nothing absolutely nothing came back from iCloud so perhaps someone out there can either tell me if I am doing something wrong, or is iCloud the waste of time I think it is.
    Regards
    Clive
    Using iPad with iOS 6.2

So why were the files moved this way?
Simply copy the ENTIRE iTunes folder from the old computer to the new computer.  Then launch iTunes and everything will be there.

  • How do i retrieve my text messages from an icloud backup?

I updated my phone to ios 6.1.3 6 days ago and last night i noticed when i looked at my phone all my text messages were erased. I had messages going back 3 years ago and ive lost it all. I noticed my Phone had updated to the Icloud in the morning and in the evening everything disappeared so im hoping i can still get it all back if i can restore from my Icloud. When i go to restore on Itunes it wants to restore from my computer which was 6 days ago. HOw do i switch it over to resotre from my Icloud backup?
    Thanks

You cannot retrive individual peices of data from an icloud backup. You will have to go to settings>general>reset>erase all content and settings. Then during the setup assistant, you will have to Restore the device from the Icloud backup.

  • Anyone knows if it's possible to transmit raw data through jack plug of an iPhone/iPad?

I have a dummy hardware that have a jack socket and a simple protocol. I want to send/receive serial data from this hardware on my iPhone/iPad, but I don't know if this is possible, because is a very low level protocol. I also have bluetooth, but is not supported by apple, so I decided to investigate this option, with the jack plug. I called Apple support but they couln'd help me and they told me to ask here. Thanks!

There are devices, like credit card readers, heart rate monitors and such that can do this.  I am no expert by any means, but those devices supposedly work as a Frequency Shift Keying modem, sending data at a pretty low baud rate to the software on the iOS device.
So it is doable, but my understanding it takes a combination of a hardware device to transmit the data via the headphone jack, and then a specific iOS app designed to capture and read that data.
    Definitely non-trivial.
P.S. the modem itself is commercially available, example -

  • How can I recover photos from old iphone icloud backup to new one?

Hello, I had an iPhone 4 which I lost and inside there were some great photos that I want now to recover. In the meanwhile I bought an iPhone5S and I just realized that inside the iCloud backup menu is saying that there is a backup of 3GB of my old iPhone. How can I see if in that backup the photos are there? I have connected my iPhoto App to iCloud but it only finds photos from my new iPhone and not the old one...
    Thanks for your time.

Hi, Tiago, maybe you can get help from data recovery software. Now things get easy now.
As far as I know, there are three ways to recover deleted contacts and photos from iPhone 5 with iPhone Data Recovery.
Way 1: Recover deleted photos from iPhone directly
Way 2: Using iTunes Backup to recover deleted photos
Way 3: Using iCloud Backup to recover deleted photos
You can refer the way 3 of how to recover deleted photos from iPhone to recover photos from  old iPhone iCloud backup.
    Good luck to you.

  • Recovering data from iphone backup?

    Hey guys,
I am busting my head over here trying to figure out how to do this.. to make a long story short, I've had a very unlucky past few weeks. My iphone (4g 32gb) fell into the ocean and all the data I had is lost. But then I rememberd I can still recover it from the itunes backup. Ordered a new phone.. the phone just came and before I could do a recovery from it we had a power outage and my laptop got fried. I've been told that the motherboard is fried and since it was an old laptop I didnt bother trying to fix it. (I switched to a MacBook Pro early this year - although the syncing was done on the windows laptop). So.. I took apart the laptop, took the hard disk and connected it to an external USB enclosure. I can access all the data from the hard disk. My question is, can I use this hard disk to do a recovery on the iphone? The old laptop was running on Windows 7. I have access to another laptop with windows 7 & windows xp & mac OSX Lion
-I've already tried booting from the hard disk, it wouldnt boot.. I keep getting the blue screen of death.
As long as I can get the contacts, sms's and photos on the new iphone im good.
Thank you in advance for your feed back!

I think its time to buy a samsung galaxy... and yes i know that if i would have manually backed up my photos then i wouldnt be in this prediciment, but it all went sound when the backup proceedure that apple build into their products failed.
