Recovering Document

I was working on a document doing Track Changes when Microsoft Word crashed. Word recovered my document and I began working on that document doing Track Changes. I saved it several times, hitting "replace." I then exited out when I finished.
I cannot find the document now--the only document I can find is the one that only contains the edits up until Word crashed. How can I recover or find the completed document? Thanks!

Does the recovered document still show up in Word's recent-file list? If so, which version opens from there?
Note that, if you had opened the document from an email attachment, it won't show up in the recent file list and gets saved to a temporary folder that gets deleted when you exit the email program. If you haven't exited the email program, opening another
copy of the attachment and using File|Save As (without saving) will show you where the file is. You can then use Windows Explorer to navigate to that location and retrieve the file.
Other than that, you could try searching Word's 'AutoRecover' folder for files ending with the .asd extension. You can find where that is via File|Options|Advanced>File Locations>AutoRecover Files>Modify (the latter to see the full path).

  • How can I recover documents that were stores in the pages app?

I have an original iPad. This evening, as I was using it, I got a message that an update was available for pages. I selected "update". It attempted to install the new pages and froze. I connect to iTunes to try to get it back to old version of pages (the new versions won't work on the original iPad) by restoring to back-up. That resulted in deleting the pages app.
Ahhhh!!!! I need my documents! They had been backed up to iTunes and it was recently backed up to iCloud.
Someone please help me figure out how to find my docs!!!
    THANK YOU

    Basics of File Recovery
    Files in Trash
If you simply put files in the Trash you can restore them by opening the Trash (left-click on the Trash icon) and drag the files from the Trash to your Desktop or other desired location.  OS X also provides a short-cut to undo the last item moved to the Trash -press COMMAND-Z.
If you empty the Trash the files are gone. If a program does an immediate delete rather than moving files to the Trash, then the files are gone.  Recovery is possible but you must not allow any additional writes to the hard drive - shut it down. When files are deleted only the directory entries, not the files themselves, is modified. The space occupied by the files has been returned to the system as available for storage, but the files are still on the drive. Writing to the drive will then eventually overwrite the space once occupied by the deleted files in which case the files are lost permanently. Also if you save a file over an existing file of the same name, then the old file is overwritten and cannot be recovered.
    General File Recovery
If you stop using the drive it's possible to recover deleted files that have not been overwritten by using recovery software such as Data Rescue II, File Salvage or TechTool Pro.  Each of the preceding come on bootable CDs to enable usage without risk of writing more data to the hard drive.  Two free alternatives are Disk Drill and TestDisk.  Look for them and demos at MacUpdate or CNET Downloads.
The longer the hard drive remains in use and data are written to it, the greater the risk your deleted files will be overwritten.

  • Help - need to recover documents!

I had to restore my iPad about 2 months ago, and the only things showing up on my iCloud are those I have created since the restore. Is there anyway to recover Pages documents from before my restore?

Try holding down the Option key at power on.
You should get a solid blue screen 2 buttons, one containing a circular arrow and the other with an arrow pointing to the right. The mouse cursor should be a spinning watch.
After some time, the pointer should turn back to the usual arrow, and you should see a hard drive icon with the old OS X logo (a blue X in a white circle.) You may also get another HD icon with the OS9 logo.
click the OSX icon, then the arrow that points to the right.
This should boot to OS X. Once there, go to the system disk control pane and set the default boot folder to OS X.
If you get no icons, click the circular arrow and wait for the system to rescan the drives for bootable systems.

  • Recovering documents in Pages for iPad after iCloud account change

I changed iCloud accounts on my iPad, and when I did all documents in Pages were deleted.  Is there anyway to recover those documents?  The old iCloud account had the user name changed, so several documents were created on the iPad without being sync'd to any iCloud account.

Try and retrieve them with a computer; log on to www.icloud.com

  • Recovering Document Password

I protected a document with a password and can not open it now. I believe I am close to remembering the correct password, but have worked most of today trying to open it and it keeps saying that the password is incorrect. Is there a way to recover the password?

    Welcome to Apple Discussions
No, there isn't a way to recover the password, but you probably can open the document. AppleWorks passwords only prevent AppleWorks from opening the file. If it's an AppleWorks word processing document, try Pages, Word or icWord. If it's a spreadsheet, try Numbers or icExcel. You can download the iWork '08 trial to use Pages or Numbers. icWord & icExcel are shareware from Panergy Software & you can download a fully-functional trial from their web site.

  • Is there a way to recover documents removed from trash bin

Is there a way to recover word documents etc that have been removed from the trash bin? They must still be on the hard drive somewhere. Thanks for any help!

The problem is that your system no longer knows about the files - it has removed the pointer that tells it that those files exist, and where they start and end.
However, it may be possible to recover the files using a utility like Data Rescue. The less you've used the computer since you emptied the trash, the higher the likelihood of recovery. And I don't just mean reading/writing user files, since the system is constantly using "available" hard drive space as storage (for temp and log files).
    Good luck!

  • How to Recover Document from Alias?

Just searched a couple of important documents (extension .cwk) that were created a little over two years ago and all I can find are the aliases -- same is true when I search my backup external drives.
Any ideas on how I can recover these documents?
Thanks so much for your help!

Thanks but when I press "control" and click, the only options I get are the ones below; is there something else I should be doing to get the Show Original option?
    Open
    Open With
    Open Enclosing Folder
    Move to Trash
    Get Info
Quick Look "Document Title is here.cwk"
    Copy "Document Title is here.cwk"
Label: (graphic of different colored squares)

  • Recovering Documents

    Hello all,
We are in the process of designing DMS and a question came up regarding document recovery. We are using SAPDB and our system is 4.6c (Kernel D) on a Windows Server platform.
If a document gets completely deleted form the system, how do we recover this? I noticed the backup/recovery options within the SAPDB DB Manager, but does the recover the entire database and are you able to pull out a single document for recovery instead of restoring the whole database?
    Thanks much for any input,
    Jason

    Hi Jason,
I am also experiencing the same sort of problem. Our portal is running on Unix AIX system (EP 7.0 sp 10). Plse share with me if you have explored any thing.
My requirement is that i have provide some sort of tracking (at least the information that so and so file is deleted etc..) for the deleted KM documents.

  • Recover documents to new iPad

Hi, I saved some Pages documents to iTunes before restoring my iPad (due to corruption impacting my 3G service). Now I have restored it and set it up as a new iPad it has fixed the issue but I can't see the pages files to restore them to the iPad, is there a way to recover them without having to restore to the old backup?
    Thanks

saving to itunes from teh app, doesnt do anything but copy the documents to a folder that itunes can see. If you did not use itunes the desktop program to save those documents back to the desktop, then you never truly backed them up and they are gone.
    Sorry for the bad news,
    Jason

  • Pages - recover document

I saved a document the other day in Pages and have now gone back to further edit.  I can see the document when I open pages but when I open it only a few sentences appear.
I have closed all apps and have done a hard shutdown;  I have gone into iWorks and can see the whole document but when I open it there are only a few sentences;  and I have emailed it in various formats to other computers and when I open them the same few sentences exist.
But when I am looking at it when it is compressed clearly the page is full of my writing.
Any suggestions on how to recover the document?

Tried backing it up from itunes, no luck. Too bad there wasn't a "Trash" feature on the I OS. Bummer. Thanks for the response-much appreciated.

  • Photoshop CC crashes on every startup trying to recover documents.

    Hello everyone,
I was working on a CMYK file when Photoshop suddenly blocked. I closed it by CTRL+ALT+DEL and every time I try to reopen the program it tries to recover the file and blocks again.
I reinstalled the software again (without unistalling it first) but no luck.
How can I stop Photoshop from trying to recover, or what should I do?

    later edit:
I have solved the problem. I searched the computer for "*.psb" and I deleted the files found.
    Have a nice day!
