Recovering lost pdf file

Is there any way to recover a lost file after a crash if one ALSO accidentally clicked 'no' to the promopt to open an unsaved file?  Are these stored somewhere and therefore recoverable?  Thank you

Not very likely, but you can try the temp folder, which is:
C:/Users/_USER NAME_/AppData/Local/Temp/Adobe/Acrobat/11.0

  • Please help me recover a lost PDF file from Adobe Reader XI

    Hi,
I was filling out a VA form 5655 in Adobe, and twice today, I lost my file and I just cannot type all of this stuff again, because I had to do so much math and typing and more math.  All of a sudden "bloop", it was gone.  When I try to go into file, then revert, revert is not highlighted.  I tried pulling up history and it said there was no history.  I just don't know what else to do, and I need this for the morning.  Please help?  Thanks

    Hi Pat,
I filled it out directly from the blank PDF online, and never got a chance
to save the whole document.  I did however save it about 1/2 way through,
but yet cannot find that 1/2 of the document either.  Thanks.

  • I cannot recover my pdf files from ibooks after upgrading to os 6

Does anyone know how to recover pdf files from ibooks after os 6 upgrade?

In your next-to-last post, you said: "... when I recovered the iBooks app, it was empty due to having a different owner of the app."
I'm suggesting you change the owner of the app and maybe then it won't be empty.
You can delete/remove the app and get your own from the app store and install it.  Maybe then you'll see your PDFs.

  • Lost pdf files after upgrading to Reader 9

I recently upgraded to Reader 9 and now notice that a bunch of pd
f files I had stored in verious folders in My Documents have disappered!
Running XP Home SP3. Any ideas what happened to my pdf files??
    Thanks

Thanks for the reply. I figured it was likely unrelated to the upgrade of Reader, but a couple of possibilities still lingered in my mind:
First, the Reader upgrade was done by my better half, and I believe she performed the upgrade in response to a sudden pop-up window prompting you for an upgrade - a commom tactic for spreading viruses. And secondly, the pdf files I lost were created by CutePDF (freeware), so the thought crossed my mind that Adobe would not mind pdf files created by competitive software to disappear...
At this point I think the probable cause was a virus.

Since the Reader 9 upgrade only affects the Reader 8 software and associated Windows Registry files, not documents,  it's 100% likely that this upgrade had nothing to do with the disappearing files.
It's like filling up your gas tank and suddenly noticing that one of your tires is flat. One has no way of causing the other.
It's cases like this that keep me telling people every day to be sure and back up important files to some external media (flash drive, CD-R, DVD-R or eve an external HD).

  • Can i recover lost PDFs stored in iBooks? They were lost upon upgrading to iOS7.

I lost all my PDF files stored in iBooks when upgrading to iOS7. Yes, I backed up my iPad first onto my iTunes account on my PC. No, I am not on the cloud as far as I know.

    Okay... try this...
Perform a Reset on the iPad (different from just restarting). Hold down on both the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears. When you see the Apple logo on the black screen, let go of the buttons.
After the restart, go to Settings -> iTunes & App Store -> Apple ID and sign out of your account. Then sign back in with your Apple ID. Go back to "Settings" and "iBooks" and confirm that "online content" and turn it on. Launch iBooks again.
If that doesn't work, go to Settings -> General -> Reset -> Reset All Settings. When done, turn your iPad off (hold the Sleep button down for several seconds. When the red slider appears, switch it off. Wait a few seconds and then press and hold the Sleep button for 1-2 seconds and let go). After the reboot you will need to reconnect your Wi-Fi, log back in to App Store, iBook Store, and iTunes. Try downloading iBooks content again.
    Hope this helps!

  • Lost PDF files

After doing a restart to resolve another issue I found all my PDF files in iBooks were deleted. This has happened before. Does anyone know why Apple hasn't resolved this issue?

What do you mean by 'restart' ? If you restored to a backup then PDFs are not included in a backup, neither iCloud nor iTunes. Have you got copies of them in the Books part of computer's iTunes library, or if using a Mac with Mavericks or Yosemite on it in its iBooks app so that you can sync them back ?
When you have PDFs and/or epubs in the iBooks app on your iPad, then even though they aren't iTunes purchases doing File > Devices > Transfer Purchases should copy them over to your computer's iTunes library (and if using a Mac with iBooks on it then do File > Move Books From iTunes in its iBooks app) so that you have a backup copy of them and can resync them back to a device.

  • Is it possible to recover lost video files from a backup gone wrong?

Hi, my brother in-law was backing up his Macbook (OS X 10.7.5) videos to a seagate eternal hard drive and I managed to accidentally knock it and disconnect it during the process.  Some of the videos were still on the computer but some got deleted. is there any way to recover these files??
    Thanks

It sounds like the files are gone. In the future if something is important, have it backed up in more than one place.
If you don't have a clone backup it's time to start. Just like a seat belt and an air bag protect you in different ways when driving, you need both Time Machine and a clone for full protection.
Storing files "in the Cloud" is also helpful. I like DropBox, but there are other services like Microsoft's OneDrive, box.com etc that are helpful. I like DropBox because it allows you to upload files larger than 2GB.

  • How to recover lost video files after restoring from back up

I recently had to restore my ipad completely one day in order to update it and I was in a rush. So I took my iPad before I could restore it from a back up. So I set up the iPad as a "new" iPad and just started using it. I bought iMovie with my iTunes account on the "new" iPad and started filming from the iPad for a school project. So I edited the footage in iMovie and had a finished project. Then I went home that night and decided to just upload my most recent back up from my old iPad. In doing so I lost ALL my footage. iMovie still has everything in the correct place and says that my project is just missing some files. Is there ANYWAY I can get this footage back? Isn't it still on the iPad somewhere? Please someone help me out!

If their on your iTunes on your computer, try plugging in your iPod and dragging the files from the iTunes Library on your computer to the library on your iPod.  Hope it helps(:

  • How to recover lost video files after iOS 5 upgrade?

I upgraded iTunes today to iOS 5, and lost all my video files from my iPod touch.  When I checked iTune on my laptop, I could still see some of the video file listed under the device name and library.  However, I see nothing on my iPOD.  when I tried to sync them back to iPod, I got nothing either.  when I tried to reload some of the video files, I could see the number of video files (movies) added up.  However, I still cannot find any of the files from my iPod touch.  it's very frustrating just to go through with all the attempts.  please help.  thanks.

  • Recovering Lost Capture Files

    Hello
I was claening up my video scratch disc, and deleted an old project. I didn;t realize within that project, i had two capture files from another project. I quickly did a search with DataRescue2 and recovered all the deleted files. However, all the final cut files appear as FCP Project files, not the video files (they are around 6GB, or half an hour, each) Does anyone have any tips how i could make these files usable again - FCP says 'unable to open project file' or 'unrecognzed'.
I tried adding .mov to the end, but it doesn't work either - any tips or suggestions on how I can get these capture files back in FCP again?

If they do not open within QuickTime Player (cmd-opt drag them into the player to force it to try), they may not have been accurately recovered, thus are corrupted. If that is the case, no amount of tinkering will resurrect them, sorry to say...

  • Recovering lost music files after itunes 7 upgrade

Newbe here; I recently downloaded and installed ITUNES7.0.1(25.7MB)UPGRADE and was horrified to discover my ENTIRE music library disappeared(or deleted!)-how did this happen? More importantly, how do i recover the files- i performed every type of search there was on the computer but no luck- please help- many of these file were rare pieces I place on the Computer when changing computers from ibm to mac.

No it looks like I tunes deleted all my mp3s also. When I first ran 7 it crashed and I had to reboot. When I looked at my mp3 directory all files are gone and on this new system they can't be found anywhere else. Even undeletion software hasn't been able to find them.

  • Recovering Lost Pages Files

Hi! I recently got a new MacBook Air that's running OS 10.9.4. I created a document using Pages and uploaded the document (I thought) to my Gmail account. I then deleted the file from my Air and emptied the Trash.
This morning, I went into my Gmail account and tried to open the Pages document. To my dismay, the document wouldn't open. Upon further examination, it does not appear to be the complete file - it's only 272 bytes.
I ran a file recovery program (Disk Drill) and it didn't turn up any Pages files. I'm hoping there is some way to recover this document, as I spent a lot of time on it. If you have any tips, I'd be very grateful. Thanks!

Do you know the name of your letter? Search for it with Spotlight, the magnifying glass on the top right of your menu. Spotlight will find keywords or names inside the document.
    Also look under:
Pages > Menu > File > Open Recent
Or did you save it as 'Unnamed'?
You may have saved it into your System folder where Spotlight does not search.
EasyFind [free] whilst slow is thorough and will look everywhere.

  • How to recover lost pages files after iPad update?

My friend lost all his pages and numbers documents that were on his iPad after updating yesterday. anyone know how to get them back? they weren't saved anywhere but the iPad. are the pages and numbers files stored during the device backup?

    lindsayward wrote:
Thanks. If it does an automatic backup when you connect it, which it seems this iPad does, then there will never be an older backup to restore from, is that right?
    Is there any other way..?
Yes - it will backup automatically. You can prevent iTunes from syncing automatically - which in turn prevents iTunes from backing up automatically as well - but when you do initiate the sync - it will always backup the iPad.
However, I have read that if you watch the progress bar at the top of the iPad when the sync process begins - you can click on the X in the progress bar to stop it from backing up and it will move to the next step in the sync process. I have never tried that myself. I would only use that method if the sync was hanging up from a bad backup and that would be another problem in itself - so you really don't want to do that.
What you can do is create a manual backup and then copy  that backup (don't remove it) into another folder on your hard drive. But you have to turn off auto sync so you can control the backup process.
I do not sync automatically - never have. If you want to turn off auto sync - Launch iTunes on your computer - go to Edit>Preferences>Devices>Prevent iPods, iPhones and iPads from syncing automatically.
Then when you connect the iPad and iTunes starts up, you can right click on the iPad name on the left and select backup. If you want to keep that backup that you just created - don't sync. Eject the iPad and quit iTunes and find the backup and copy it to another folder on your hard drive.
Read this article for more information on where you can find the backup folder.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4946
To finally answer your specific question about having older backups - I do have 4 older backups of my iPad. I can't remember if they were created when I've restored my iPad - which I have done several times - or when the iOS was updated. Like I said - I did restore after the recent iOS update - to a backup that I created prior to the update. It was dated two days prior.
I hope I have given you some useful information - and not confused you further. I wish someone else would jump in on this thread and clarify the backup question that even I have - where did they all come from ...

  • Recovering lost GarageBand files from failed external backup hard disk

For years, I've used SuperDuper's "Back-up - All files" function to regularly backup my computer's hard disk to an external firewire hard disk. On the day I initialized my computer's hard disk to install Leopard, wouldn't you just know, my external hard disk failed. I immediately stopped using it. I've used Data Rescue II on this external hard disk but can't find my GarageBand files. These were in a hard disk subfolder, not in the GarageBand folder or in the User > Music folder. I'm trying to find eight "projects" (some are GarageBand 2 files, others are GarageBand 2008 files), each of which including a voice recording (found a few of those, .aiff files) and software instrument tracks (some imports from Band-in-a-Box, which also can't be found -- but that's for a different forum). First off, what am I looking for, what would those files look like? Data Rescue II's Fast Scan doesn't see any .band file. Searching by name, using a part of the song's name, doesn't bring up anything. This doesn't seem entirely trustworthy as lyrics files using the same name (.doc files) were later found. I've only found two threads related to this on the Web, and they seem to indicate that DRII would be unable to rescue "packaged" files, which my guru husband says is nonsense. So I'm back to the original question: what is it I should be looking for on the external hard disk? Any suggestion gratefully received.

This is for people who would come to this thread searching an answer for the same kind of problem. I had much better success with FileSalvage. I was able to find the majority of my GarageBand files, with MIDI tracks. Audio tracks were not always included but could be found among .aif files. I have not yet searched for the Band-in-a-Box files.
