Recovering my Windows 7 Serial

Basically I have no OS on there anymore, and the Proof of Authenticity sticker on the bottom is unreadable, is there any means by which I can prove ownership and retrieve my serial?

There is no actual way of retrieving the Product Key and HP will not have a record of it, however if you use your Recovery DVDs to reinstall the operating system you will not need this.
If you don't have your Recovery DVDs, you can order a replacement set using the link below.

Recovering lost Windows 7 64bit

Hello,
I received a HP Pavilion g6-1325sa Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit laptop for my birthday about 2-3 years ago now and a situation happened a while back which forced me to wipe my hard drive completely, removing the Windows operating system in the hard drive entirely and made me go to Ubuntu as I had no OS. I am now trying to recover my Windows 7 operating system and am having some issues trying to find the right place. I went to the Windows website and tried to download the right operating system and typed in my serial number for the licence that is still on the bottom of my laptop. Windows gave me an error saying that HP are the ones who I need to contact to get back my operating system. Looking through the website, all I get are tutorials on how to restore a laptop with Windows 7 already on it or irrelevant tutorials along those lines, but nothing that helps me. Am I missing the page where I type in my serial number and get back my OS or are HP going to try make me pay for a whole new OS, regardless of the fact that I still have the code for my old one?

What you need is recovery disks and the key (not serial) that is on the COA sticker on the bottom of the computer or maybe in the battery compartment.
If you did not create recovery disks when you got the computer then you will have to order them.
If you live in the USA/Canada, call HP at this number 1-800-334-5144, and see if you can still get a set of recovery disks. Otherwise the WorldWide site: http://welcome.hp.com/country/w1/en/support.html

I have had this problem before and had to reinstall an earlier version of firefox.
The error console has a long list of errors, many of them end with: does not implement nsIObserver. Is there a way to send the information on the error console to firefox support?
Redownloading Firefox 4.0 will fix my problem until I either close firefox or turn off my computer. The problem recurs when I open firefox again.

Delete the files sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox Profile Folder.

If you see files sessionstore-##.js with a number in the left part of the name like sessionstore-1.js then delete those as well. 
Deleting sessionstore.js will cause App Tabs and Tab Groups to get lost, so you will have to create them again (make a note).

Why doesn't pop-up window for serial number open?

My mother has bought the Lightroom 5 CD and is installing it but for some reason when she clicks ther installed Lr icon as told in your instruction, the serial number is not requested. The whole window with the empty boxes for serial number does not appear. I'm not sure what she has done earlier but she is saying she hasn't been able to give any serial number to her Mac (she has had earlier version in other MAc but is facing major problems with this new Mac and Lightroom, she has had trial version in this Mac). So, could the problem be that she has removed some Adobe Acrobat reader, Java, Adobe ActiveX or something and that's why the pop up window for serial number does not appear or has she managed to activate something which is blocking something or if she has already put serial number somewhere could that be blocking the process? How to change the serial number? Does Lightroom require some other sw like cloud or sth?

Try to set the Flash plug to click-to-play by setting the permissions for Flash to "Ask To Activate" in "Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Plugins".
That way you can activate the Flash plugin when you need it via the Lego block icon on the location bar.

how to recover my system and other application thats i got bundled with my laptop while purchasing ,i tried to press f11 but nothing happens i mean is there any way to get the process started through a bootable cd or dvd or any helpfull cmd commands that would help me to recover my windows.. i just cant figure it out ,alone doing it will take much time ..any suggestions would be great .....

There are Three options available to try and reinstall Windows - make sure to back-up any important files first.
1. Shut down the notebook. Tap away at the esc key as soon as you press the power button and see if this launches the Start-up Menu - if it does, try the f11 option here to see if this will start Recovery Manager.
2. If you can still boot in to Windows, hold down the Windows Key and press R. Into the Run Box type compmgmt.msc and hit enter. Click Disk Management in the left pane and when the partitions have loaded, right click the Recovery Partition and mark it as 'Active'. Close all open windows and then restart - if this has worked, the notebook will boot from the Recovery Partition upon restart.
3. You can order a replacement set of Recovery Discs using the link below.

Hello, all
I'm having all sorts of problems with my PC and I'm taking it to the shop. I'm afraid it may have to be reformatted. The problem is, I can't find my serial number, either on the cd case or in the computer. I'm at a loss here--how do i recover my serial number?

other than zigzag suggestion, if you have physical proof that you purchase your PC, maybe your reseller may help you to trace your serial number
Windows 7 always have sticker Windows on PC (if this is OEM PC), on the CD case (if you buy OS CD), or email (electronic proof) if you buy online. I suggest you also check at Microsoft activation center support to check whether this serial number is
valid after you got from method provided

I have lenovo g560 and bought it 3 years ago. A few days ago my hard disk stopped working and I had to replace it.
On my old hard drive I had win 7 home premium original, and the serial number that was on the back of the laptop was partly deleted. Please someone haw can I recover it??? (my old hard drive doesn't work)

Hi slavak87 and welcome to the community,
Once that serial number is gone, there's no way to recover it. You probably should have burned a set of recover discs when you first got your machine.
The only way to get your OS back on there is to get a set of restore discs from Lenovo Service or do a clean install with a new OS with a new key.

Need Windows 8 Serial number after crashed harddrive

I am using a Sleekbook 15-b129wm. My hardrive crashed. I had another hdd laying around so I wiped it, installed it, then used a windows 8 iso to get things moving along. Windows is now installed but when it asked for the serial number, I looked for it on the computer in sticker form but apparently this is no longer a thing. I also looked behind the battery and there is no sticker there either. I read somewhere that the windows serial number is now encoded in the bios but I do not see that in my bios. I cannot seem to get anything off of my old hard drive (which is only about 9 months old) and I do not feel like spending money for an HP customer care line if they just tell me I need to buy windows again. Maybe someone here can point me in the right direction. Thank you.

Thank you for responding but I figured it out. The computer did not come with a disk and it is nice that windows 8 now encrypts the serial key in the bios. You can recover the key by using a program called wpkey. There is a box you check that will give you that key that is within the bios. I added that key to windows and it recognized it.

From Windows 7 to Windows 8 serial number does't work anymore. Adobe say no to tech help for CS4 can anyone help?

T61 - how do I find my Windows XP Serial on a reformatted machine?

Hi Guys,
I've totally reformatted my T61 due to being hit with malware/spyware that pretty much rendered my laptop useless. This was the second time I've installed Windows using a legit XP disc I had for my desktop, but I used the serial number for that one and not the one on the recovery partition (which I've since wiped).
The good news is that I have copied the recovery partition over to my USB drive and should have all of the tools needed to rip a DVD.
All I really need to do is find out my WindowsXP serial number so I can input it and be done. I don't want to bother with reformatting for a 3rd time (long story) since getting my laptop just over a month ago! The current version I have is an OEM verison and appears to have restrictions on it with the number of times it can be installed.
Anyone have any suggestions? Will Lenovo have this on record? I have a gut feeling that calling up Microsoft will be useless.

The factory install used a volume license number that is used on many thinkpads. You will have to have an OEM XP cd to use that number or the one on the bottom of your thinkpad. A retail cd probably won't accept the number.

HP MediaSmart Home Server EX 490 won't boot up and can't recover - running Windows XP

Recently my Home Server launched successfully and I had it available on my new home network. I played a video on .api format via ethernet cable to my tv and I could see the server in my network directory.
A few days ago I tried to access the server with a brand new MacBook through a wireless browse. I couldn't access as a guest so I decided to try to launch it with a direct ethernet connection from the old PC which I used to set up the server in 2010 (running Windows XP 2002 edition SP3).
The server did not boot up properly and i have had a flashing red light since in the status light (far right) on the front of the server.
I have attemped a recovery using the disks that came with the server and following instructions from HP support when I needed to recover it once before (while it was still under warrantly and supported by HP). The recovery process looked like it was working until it reached an "Unidentified Error" at Stage 4.
Has anyone got any advice about how I could resintall the OS on the Server in this state while making best endeavour to not lose the data? Is the OS on the SYS drive and is that the lowest drive? Can I take the other drives out and rebuild the OS then put them back in and access the data? HP have had me chasing wild geese for hours over the phone and I'm ready to explode.

Recover from Windows 7 back to Vista

I have installed Windows 7 over my Vista implementation. Now I want to recover to Vista again and want to make use of my recovery partition on the harddisk. However, the Lenovo button in combination with F11 does not work and always logs me on to Windows 7. I did not create the recovery CD's. Is it still possible to recover to Vista and how should I do that?

If you boot to the recovery cd's it will remove 7 and reinstall Vista. Backup all you data first as it will all be gone.

How do I recover a window that has gone off the screen ?

The upper and right hand sides of my "Adobe Elements Organizer" application window have gone permanently off my Imac screen and try as I might, I can't drag or minimize this window to centre it on my desktop as a much smaller size and thereby recover control of it.    The missing window top contains some commands I can't access and so does the missing right hand side of the application window. Have tried junking app prefs, turning off Spaces, starting and restarting the computer.   Problem does not occur in other accounts using the same app - so something is screwed up with this app's window size defaults or settings or prefs in my user account only.

Deleting all the "com.adobe.elements organizer.plist" files does NOT cure my problem.   I suspect it has something to do with Mavericks' poorly tested 'multiple displays' feature -- that likely has some bugs in it.   This app window seems to think it's on a much bigger monitor than my 21.5" Imac.'   short of removing and reinstalling the app itself or getting a windows machine, I can think of nothing else to do.

Not sure I follow what you mean: When I open Mission Control, the entire troubled application window is then (hurrah !!!) visible on the Mission Control "Overview" screen - but when I c\olick in that app and I am returned to the normal operating screen, it's all cut off again. It will not let me click and hold and then drag on its lower black border; I can only resize it in the direction that pushes it further off the screen.
This app's main window remains stubbornly frozen in position - up at, and extending right off of, the top right of my screen and it does not respond to normal dragging - normal attempts to pull it down and see the lower right corner so I can resize the window by dragging its corner inward diagonally.
Can you describe what you want me to try in different words. By invoking I assume you mean opening mission control.   That I am doing and that's the only way I can see the whole window looming quite normal.   But it won;t render for me that normal way on a normal operating screen.

How do i open a new window? serial communication problem

I am trying to make a serial communication interface, with changeable settings,
but i wanted it to be that the settings to be openend in a new window, how am i able to do that.
I tried to make a separate subvi, but unable to do that, here is my explanation in images and the vi files.

SubVI's can be created by selecting the part that you want in the subVI and than select "create subVI" from the "Edit" menu.
Or cut the selected part and open a new VI and paste in the code. Then you have to connect all the controls and indicators to your connector pane. To do this right click the icon in the upper right corner and "Show connector". Select a pattern that has enough connectors, my personal favorite is the 4x4x4. Select the wire tool and select a connector and then the control or indicator you want to connect. Try to keep controls to the left and indicator to the right.
Now you have to figure out when you want to show the settings window. Is it necessary that the communication goes on during manipulation of the settings?
