Recovering new photos deleted during back up restore
So I have a problem, and it's someone elses phone.
I done a back up on the phone in September as my friend was sending her iPhone 4 to be updated, there was a software issue.
We only got round to getting together to put the back up back on the phone now and she had since taken photos etc. I dont the back up restore and now all the photos, text messages and whatever else that took place since the back up have dissappeared! Please help!

if I backed up with a newer version of iOS than the phone I am trying to backup to.. Is there any way to bypass the setup assistant in order to download the new iOS on the new phone then go back and restore from my old phone?
Try deleting your last backup by turning off iCloud Backup in Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backup, then tap Manage Storage, swipe across your backup and tap Delete, then go back and turn iCloud Backup back on again. If it still won't back up, you may have an app that is preventing the backup from succeeding. To locate which one, go to Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backup>Manage Storage, tap the name of your device under Backups, under Backup Options tap Show All Apps, then turn them all to Off (including camera roll) and try backing up again. If it succeeds, then the camera roll and/or one of your apps is preventing the backup and you'll have to located by process of elimination. Turn the camera roll On and try backing up again. If it succeeds, turn some of your apps to On and try backing up again. If it succeeds again, turn some more apps to On then try again; repeat this process until it fails. Eventually you'll be able to locate the problem app and exclude it from your backup.

How do I delete the new Photos and go back to iPhoto?
I really don't care for the weak editing ability in the new Photos app. But when I tried to go back to iPhoto, it was grayed out and no longer available. How can I get my iPhoto back. I'm on Yosemite 10.10.3.
You're version of iPhoto is out-of-date
Go to the App Store and check out the Purchases List. If iPhoto is there then it will be v9.6.1
If it is there, then drag your existing iPhoto app (not the library, just the app) to the trash
Install the App from the App Store.
Sometimes iPhoto is not visible on the Purchases List. it may be hidden. See this article for details on how to unhide it.

One question often asked: Will I lose my Photos if I reinstall?
iPhoto the application and the iPhoto Library are two different parts of the iPhoto programme. So, reinstalling the app should not affect the Library. BUT you should always have a back up before doing this kind of work. Always. -
Recover New Photos after Back Up
I got an iphone 5s, I took a bunch of pictures this weekend and was unable to back them up. I hooked my phone up to itunes this morning and restored a back up from my old phone and it wiped out all my new pictures, how do I recover the new pictures?

Is it possible to store data in new installed iTunes during back up iPhone?

I have installed new Windows 7 in my laptop. I lost iTunes data and forgot to keep back up copy. I installed new iTunes. I tried to sync iPhone 3GS with itunes, i got message that your iPhone data will erase and new data will copy.
Question is that how can I save my iPhone data while syncing? Is it possible that I back up my iPhone with new iTunes, so I can get iPhone data to iTunes and I save my data. Please help me out in this situation.Good morning K
A couple of things.
1. Anything you buy from itunes can be stored on the icloud free. It doesn't count against storage.
2. Music not from itunes can be stored in the cloud free up to the storage limit.
3. If you use and pay for itunes match (25$ a year) it will match as much of your music against the Apple library and then only store your non-matched music in the cloud. This is great for large libraries.
4. When you request a song from the cloud it needs to be connected to the net to download it so you can play it. It then is stored on your iphone. You may eventually want to delete it from the iphone but it will be available in the icloud for future download.
Just don't agree to "delete from icloud also.

Can't edit pictures in new Photos update bring back iPhoto !!
My pictures display fine but when I go to edit them they don't show up in the edit window and the tool bar
is barely visible. These are simple jpegs not RAW files.There is a significant difference in the features between Pages '09 and Pages 5 with so many features removed that Pages 5 is not converting the older format well:

Pages '09 should still be in Applications/iWork.
Trash or archive Pages 5 and wait for Apple to sort it out. You can also rate/review it in the App Store.

When I first plugged my new iphone into itunes and tried restoring from my old device it said I couldn't becauas my old device's software was too old. I then updates my old device. I plugged in my new phone and accidently chose to treat it as 'new' as apposed to restore up from old device. I do I now restore all my apps and what not from my old phone?
Aa long as your Backup file is still the Backup from your earlier iPhone you will have no problem in Restoring your iPhone from that earlier Backup. There are many reasons that owners would choose to Restore to Factory Settings (as New) and then go back and Restore their Backup content. If you connect your iPhone to iTunes use the iTunes pulldown menus at the top left of the iTunes Screen looking for your Device and then the available Backup Files will show and you can select the one that relates to the date of the Backup you want.
You will NOT need to Erase any content to do this.

I just lost some photos stored on my iphone by saying "yes" to restoring my phone to the latest back up (this is a new phone having had the previous phone stolen). I (stupidly) didn't realise this would delete photos I had taken since the last back up. Does anyone know if I can recover these photos?
Unfortunately, if these photos had not been transferred off the phone in some way, before restoring from the previous backup, they are now gone.
Did you have iCloud's Photostream feature setup? If so, they may have been uploaded to that. -
Can I recover my photos after deleting iphotos library but restoring it back?
I deleted iphotos by mistake and then restored it back in trash, i still have not recovered my photos. I have two iphotos libraries now: one opens and is empty, the other does not open (its icon is different, it's kind of a white file). we know nothing except what you tell us so details are critical - including versions of iPhoto and the OS - your exact workflow (general statement that things don't work with no detail like the one referenced above are no help - to determine why something does not work we need to know eactly what you did and how)

ITunes restore deleting new photos
I accidentally restored from iTunes backup, and deleted new (unbackedup) photos in my iPhone5. The data recovery tools I've tried (tenorshare and anymp4) are only able to recover from what was restored. Is there any other way to recover ?
Possibly if you had iCloud automatic backup turned on. The following has restore instructions: iCloud: Restore your iOS device from iCloud
Note that restoring from that will also delete any photos taken since it last backed up. If you have new photos you can transfer them to a computer before doing the restore: iOS: Import personal photos and videos from iOS devices to your computer
Another possibility would be if you had Photo Stream turned on and the photos were transferred to another device. iCloud: My Photo Stream FAQ -
My iphone storage is full due to my large photo library. As I want to go on taking more photos, if I back up my phone to icloud, can I then delete all my photos from my iphone to make room for new photos? Or will the next time I back up lose all those previously backed up as it is a 'new' set of data?

As you are clearly aware, it is important for you to have backups of your important data, including all of these photos you are currently keeping on your iPhone. While it is possible to use iTunes or iCloud to do backups of your iPhone, the problem becomes how to access those backups if you have deleted the photos from your iPhone. Once you have done the backup and then removed the photos from the iPhone, the only way to access the photos is by restoring the backups to the phone. Ok so how can i just back up the newer photos to my iPhoto library on my EHD? If it overwrites the backed up library it will delete the older photos that I backed up and then deleted from my iMac HD.
Do you want to back up only your photos and not your current library? Then you will not get a backup of your albums, books, calendars, ..
A lot ofyour organizational work will not be backed up, if you only save the newer photos.
To find the new photos create a smart album:
From Photo's main menu bar: File > New > Smart album
and add a rule: Date is after .... ; enter the date of your last backup.
Then export the photos from this album to a folder on your backup drive.
File > Export > Original
But it would be much better simply to copy the iPhoto library to the external drive, after renaming the older library, so that it will not be overwritten.

You might consider to let TimeMachine do the work and keep track of changed versions.
Use Time Machine to backup the library regularly, so you always can restore a current version aand can find older photos that have been deleted, and make occisiona snapshots of the whole library on a second backup drive. -

It was tele tech. I couldn't open my Page Numbers etc. Frist tech chat idiot - following dumping few things in bin, asked me yo upgrade to Yosemite. But the problem still persists. This morning I was asked to do it via telephone and like yesterday, after wasting 20 min, I was put to this apparent Tech Queen ( my foot!). She eventually decided to reinstall Yosemite asked me to connect my external drive while I connected to her. She was moving cursor asking me to move files and delete and I followed her like a dummy. It took 3/4 hours and she called me 3 times once the lengthy process was completed. I suspected from the beginng for the fact that why should be asking me to click all my backup from the very beginning! Eventually she said I deleted... Or someone else or may be my children ! It was a blatant lie. I run my small business from home and I was simply staying in front of the Mac whole day! Children were at school. Then she said I must have used another computer! I only have laptop and the iPad. I will talk to their manager first thing in the morning. In the mean time please let me know as to how can I transfer photos, music etc back to my laptop from my Iphone and IPad .? I am will connect to laptop as I am worried the new BLANK iPhoto may supersede iphone/iPad stuff? Will it? Please let me know. I am not a very tech savvy person. My son who could help me, is in Manchester Uni and Inam in London.

I took some photos with my new 4s. Then, when I connected Iphone on PC asked if I wanted to start as a new phone or old. I choose my old account. I would like to know if there is any, any chance that I can recover the photos took before sync back.
I did not use ICloud or any storage and did not make any sync before.
Is there any Trash Can in Iphone in order to find them? I am dumb and I did not think about save them before connect to PC.Your photos are gone. They were wiped when you restored your phone. There is no "trash can".
You obviously don't understand how to use the iPhone properly. Attached is a link to the iPhone User guide. I suggest you read through it to avoid data loss in the future.
