Recovering Outlook 2013 from crashed disk

My Windows 7 Ultimate system recently crashed while installing updates during a power failure.
Can’t get the disk to boot, but it does come up as a secondary drive.
Got a new main disk and reloaded Office 2013.  I copied my old PST file to the new Outlook 2013 location and my e-mail is there.
I know the accounts are in OST files and I copied them, but the accounts are not listed and not recognized during an update all.
Is there any way to copy the accounts, and rules from my non-bootable old system drive to my new install of 2013?

Hi,
The accounts information of Outlook 2013 are stored in the following registry entry:
HKEY_CURRENT_USERS\Software\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Outlook\Profiles
I cannot find a method to extract such information from a non-bootable old system drive. You'll need to manually set up your emails again in the new system drive.

It's recommended to download and install
Configuration Analyzer Tool (OffCAT), which is developed by Microsoft Support teams. Once the tool is installed, you can run it at any time to scan for hundreds of known issues in Office

  • Outlook 2013 keeps crashing. (mso.dll Exception code: 0xc0000005)

Outlook 2013 is crashing for a lot of my users and myself included. Looking at the event viewer, it is crashing iwth mso.dll with Exception code: 0xc0000005. It usually happens overnight. I'd leave for the day and when I get in in the morning, outlook
has crashed. I have tried manually disabling all add-ins but that did not help. Then I ran outlook in safe mode but still the same crash. I have deleted the mso.dll to have outlook reinstall it but that didn't help. I see that other people have the same issue
but still no resolution (http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/office/en-US/eedc120d-de4b-4236-a114-2492f3041e04/ms-outlook-2013-keeps-crashing?forum=officeitpro and http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/office/en-US/0ee701d1-b341-4448-878a-1a26618262c1/microsoft-outlook-2013-has-stopped-working-and-crashes-everytime?forum=outlook )
    anyone have any new input?

    Hello again dom8925,
When all else is tried to no avail, can you do an offline virus scan on any of the problematic computers? Here's how:
    1. Check if the computer has a 32- or a 64-bit system. Right-click on Computer icon, choose Properties. System type reveals the bitness.
    2. Download the appropriate virus scanning version from http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows/what-is-windows-defender-offline
    Note: If you're on Windows 8.1: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/what-is-windows-defender-offline-beta
    3. Insert a USB stick with nothing important on. Observe the drive letter (F:, G: etc ...) assigned to it.
    4. Start the downloaded program and follow the instructions. Note: Choose the correct drive letter from 3 above.
    5. Restart your computer so it will boot from the USB stick. Depending on computer brand you can often press F12 to get a boot menu.
Sometimes you have to enter BIOS to tell the computer to boot from USB if present.
The quick scan starts. Abort it and select Full Scan. Let it run overnight or till finished.
    Best regards George
I've tried that with no success. Plus it can happen on a brand new freshly installed environment. Only thing that remedies the situation was disabling all Outlook GPOs on a test user and test pc.

    Hi,
since a few days Outlook 2013 keeps crashing repeatedly within the first minute after starting.
After a few restarts of Outlook, it then works.
This appears to be the same issue as described here: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/office/forum/office_2013_release-outlook/outlook-2013-multiple-crashes-upon-start-up/f2d6666c-8798-40a6-adad-1b486300d3ac

    Hi,
Did you installed any add-in for your Outlook? Please try to start Outlook in safe mode to check if the issue continues. To do this, press Windows key + R to open the Run command, type
    outlook.exe /safe and press Enter.
If the issue would be gone in safe mode, please go to File > Options > Add-ins and disable suspicious add-in to resolve the problem.
If this issue persists in safe mode, please try to navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\NetPhone Client and register the secman.dll to check the result. To do this, press Windows + R and type
cmd in the Run command, type
    regsvr32.exe C:\Program Files (x86)\NetPhone Client\secman.dll
Restart Outlook to check the result.
Please let me know the result.

  • Outlook 2013 is crashing almost immediately upon opening it, on multiple computers.

So, I've got this client.  He's a lawyer, he runs a small law office with four employees to help him in his day-to-day work.  I'm his IT guy, and I recommended that he purchase Office 365.
I am beginning to regret making that recommendation.
Now, obviously, in a small law office, e-mail is a pretty essential part of the office workflow.  The lead guy usually corresponds with his office from his home office 45 miles away.  He does so via e-mail.  He's not exactly a stellar typist,
either, so much to my chagrin, he's more-or-less stuck with Outlook.  If he wasn't so dead-set on using handwriting and ink, I would have him using Mozilla Thunderbird in a heartbeat, because my experience with Outlook tonight has been unbelievable.
Thunderbird downloaded, and displays 10,000+ e-mails without skipping a beat, and it's free.  Your product costs $100/year, and is crashing on EVERY SINGLE MACHINE.
Each employee has their own IMAP e-mail account from our webhost, InMotionHosting.  My client has three IMAP e-mail accounts -- his main, public-facing account, his internal private correspondence account, and an account to which all newsletters and
such are going to.  Each employee has everyone else's e-mail account on each of their machines, so they can all easily correspond with eachother and keep track of eachother's progress on one matter or another.
    The problem:
I fire up Outlook, at which point, it begins to Send/Receive from all accounts.  This lasts about a minute, before I am informed that "Microsoft Outlook has stopped working."  If I try to click on ANY other inbox, again, Outlook crashes.
I have tried outlook.exe /safe.  I have tried outlook.exe /cleanviews.  I have ensured that I have the latest Windows updates.  I have ensured that I have the latest Office updates.  I have tried the ScanPST.exe utility.  I have tried
deleting my client's profile, and manually re-adding each and every e-mail account.  I have tried a repair install of Outlook.
Nothing.  Works.  Eventually, it gets to a point where Outlook just crashes, and will not stop crashing whenever I open it.  I can only hope that this is happening to millions of other users, and the woeful lack of action on Microsoft's part
will lead to someone, ANYONE, presenting a valid alternative to Outlook.  Your monopoly on office productivity software is obvious to anyone who uses these.

Hi, in case the antivirus software conflicts with Outlook, please disable your security AVG/Firewall, especially the mail scanner module to check whether it would happen again.
For the further steps, please perform a clean boot to troubleshoot the problem:

  • Adobe Contribute Plug-In Causes Outlook 2013 to crash, close and reopen

I have Adobe Contribute 5 running on a Windows 7 Professional laptop system with Office 2013. Whenever I reboot, and open Outlook 213, after a while Outlook 2013 closes and has to reopen, and then disables the Contribute plug-in, which appears to be the culprit. I'd like to simply disable the Contribute plug-in on Outlook permanently, but can't figure out how to do so, it always tries to reactiviate each time I reboot (which happens often since this is a laptop). Anyone have this probblem and solve it? Thanks.

    Hello,
    Welcome to Adobe Forums.
To disable the Contribute plugin from Microsoft Outlook 2013 you need to click on File menu then choose options from it.
    FIle>Options>Add-Ins>
Then Click on Go button from Manage com Add-ins .
Highlight the Contribute plugin from the list and remove it .
Please see the screenshot as mentioned below.

  • How to fix acrobat/pagemaker plug-in for Outlook 2013 from disabling on restart?

I have an issue with one of my customers where they have to go in and manually enable the Adobe Acrobat plug-in for Outlook 2013 every time they close and re-open Outlook or restart their computer.  When I go into Add-Ins in Outlook the plug-in isn't in the disabled COM add-ins, but in  the Inactive Application Add-ins section and the user needs to click on Go and then check the box to enable it.  This happens everytime Outlook is restarted or the computer is restarted.  Anyone seen this issue and have a fix?  it's a Windows 7 pro machine running Adobe Acrobat X and Office 2013 (cloud install).  Office and Windows are all patched and up to date.  Running "check for updates" within Acrobat says it's up to date also.  Thanks for any input or help in advance.

Sounds like the Security settings in the registry for Outlook 2013/Office 2013 are stuck and not letting you permantly change/the setting.  This has more to do with Office than it does with Acrobat so you may want to go to the MS website to see where these settings live in the Windows registry.

  • How to recover Deleted file from HARD DISK

By mistake my entire AVCHD file of 90 Mts  duration was deleted from my Hard Disk, this  I realised after a week., in the meantime I have not added or deleted any file from this hard Disk. I had given my this hard disk to my service engineer to recover the video., he has tried and recover some 40 mb file., but I cant open this recovered video file in Premiere or any other video convertor programme., also I cant get any information about Video.
Can anybody in the forum help me and suggest how to recover my deleted Video from the Hard disk

Hi, hard disk data loss is actually a hard task for many users 'cause most of them think this kind of problems is a complicated situation. Here are some tips you need to know after data loss happened.
    1. If you meet the file loss situation, keep calm and stop using your computer to do any read or write operation until you find the way to recover the lost files because any wrong operation.
    2. If you've lost a file, time is of the essence. As new files saved to Mac hard drive or storage devices, the original files gets overwritten. So do not use the drive or disk which your deleted files are stored before at all, until you have completed the scanning and recovery process.
    3. The system crashed or the files loss situation happens occasionally, so remember build a backup for the files periodically is strongly needed.
    4. If you meet the file loss situation again, stop using the Mac or storage device right now, use another computer to process the files recovery.
    5. Remember this, no matter at the normal time or after files recovery, build a backup for the files periodically is the best method to protect your files from data loss situation.

  • Recovering photo's from crashed HP desk top hard drive on to my Toshiba Satellite A505-S6980?

I recently had my HP desk top crash. The HP says it cannot find any operating system but powers up and I do not have any kind of recovery disc for it. Is there any way to connect the hard drive to my Toshiba to recover the documents and photos? I'm not to computer savy but, with guidance I can probably figure it out. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

In that case you'll need to see if one of these recovery tools provides a self booting disk option to recover the data or take the hard drive out of the HP, put it in a usb external enclosure for that type of drive (not sure if it is SATA or EIDE), connect it to your Toshiba, and run the recovery software from the Toshiba.

  • Recovering aperture files from crashed hard drive?

    Hi,
I'm trying to recover Aperture photos which weren't backed up externally (I know) from the hard drive of my MBP in an external mount, I can navigate to the library but cannot find files to backup the master images.  Do I need to just copy the library or do I need to look somewhere else.  I cannot search using aperture as that isn't installed on the computer I'm using.  Would be grateful for any thoughts!
    Cheers

    Hello,
if you want to recover data from a drive after it crashed, don't do  anything to that drive that writes data to it. You might try recovery software like Disk Drill to access files, see e.g. this post: https://discussions.apple.com/message/16641843#16641843
But I do not understand from you post, how your Aperture library is organized, please explain a little bit more:
Do you have a managed or a referenced library?
Did the system drive of your MBP crash or an external drive, and which parts of your Aperture Library and master files were on the drive that crashed?
If you library is managed, then all your master image files should be contained inside the Aperture library package. This package can be copied using the Finder by dragging it to a new location. If you want to reassure yourself, that it contains all your master image files, ctrl-click the package and select "Show Package Contents" from the pop-up menu. You should see a folder "Masters" inside, and their you should find all the master image files, grouped by year and month.

  • Recover iSight video from crashed iMovie

I recently set up to capture video from iSight in iMovie to record all day (in order to catch my landlord snooping!) but in the middle of the day iMovie crashed!
When I came home it just said it encountered an error and quit, and gave options to relaunch, etc. I found the error log and it said that it crashed at 1 PM.
I can't seem to find any video, not even in the trash, even though when I first started capturing it said 1900 minutes, and now it says about 1500 minutes, and since I started recording at about 7 AM, it's consistent with the time that it crashed...
Anyone have ideas where it could be??? Thanks!

    Hello nrmayhew
If you really recorded 400 minutes, you have store approximately 87 GB somewhere on your hard disk. Because video files take up a lot of space on hard disks, finding or recovering that space is important.
My first guess is that your clip is written to disk but may not have been saved with a file name due to the crash error. If the clip was saved, you should be able to find it with Spotlight. It may have a file names like clip-2008-05-06 10;22;04.mov where the numbers are the date and time of the recording. You can search for "clip-" or all ".mov" files, although, depending on what you have stored on your disk, the latter may return an unmanageably large number of hits.
If you cannot find it in Spotlight, look manually in your Movies / iMovie Events / Event Name 5-6-08 folder where the numbers are the month, day, and year of the event you created.
Alternatively, you might be able to find and open the project in the Movies / iMovie Projects folder. If you can open it, you can see the file names iMovie is using for the long clip. That may make finding the project event folder or clips simpler. If you chose other than default names for your project or events, substitute the name you used in the folder names above. If you do find the clip, review the saved info to see how much, if any, you want to keep.
If you cannot find the captured video anywhere, I suggest that you repair the disk that you use to store iMovie files you are capturing. Repairing the disk may free up the unidentified file space.
After you have your disk space accounted for and/or repaired, you may want to reconsider which application you use for security monitoring. If one of the following applications meets your needs it might be preferable to iMovie because these are developed specifically for their security monitoring features. Moreover, they do not capture such huge DV (digital video) files during extended monitoring as iMovie does.
    • EvoCam
    • SecuritySpy
    • KeyCamX
    • Periscope by Freeverse
Check the specifications of each application for the features you need, compatibility with your equipment, and system requirements.
Of course, if iMovie is the app you need, use it. However, be sure you have plenty of free space on the hard disk you use to store the 13 GB of file space that DV generates each hour you record.

  • Recover & use files from crashed TM harddrive

    Hi all,
    Here's the case.
    I switched from a 24" iMac with 10.6 to a 27" iMac with 10.6
During this switch, my only source of backup was a 500GB WD with TimeMachine.
When i plugged this drive into the new iMac, it said the disk was "unformatted", even though I used it the day before to do the final backup.
So here I stand with everything I own datawise lost. I can see the partition containing folders using AppleXsoft File Recovery.
The question: Can I somehow recover these files in their folders, and rebuild them to a hardrive so that the computer will recognise it as a TM-backup?
    Any help appreciated!
    Alex

V.K. ("the guru" here) is, of course, correct.
Time Machine does incremental backups of new and changed items since the previous backup, but each backup is, in effect, a full one.
This "magic" is done by linking to the backups of the items that did not change with "hard links." An item that was present on your Mac for two or more backups will have multiple hard links to it's backup copies. This structure is used not only at the file level, but also at the directory level.
Prior to Leopard, even OSX did not support doing this at the directory level; and even the Leopard Finder couldn't copy good backups properly, much less corrupted or partial ones.
A data recovery app may be able to recover some of the backup files; but not the structure of links. At best, you're going to get a whole passel of "loose" files, with no structure whatever.

    Hi
My mac stopped working soon after i did the latest iTunes update, i was unable to repair the disk using disk utility so in the end i swapped the HD for a new one and recovered what data i had backed-up to that new drive.  Problem i have is that my back-up processes were somewhat slack!  I have none of my photos backed up...
I have tried to view the contents of my old HD by connecting it up via USB.  It looked like it was going to work; i could see the drive, navigate through the folders etc then it just disappeared.  I can no longer see it in Finder.  I can still see it in disk utility and have tried to repair it again with no joy.
All I want to do is recover the photos, there's nothing else on there that i need
