2 or 3 months ago I restored my PC and then reinstalled Itunes. Plugged up my Ipod and it wiped off everything except 3 (out of 5) podcasts that I currently had. how do I get the songs backs?

The music you purchased with the old iTunes account is tied to that account. You need to obtain the ID and password for that account. The following provides instructions.

You calendar info should also be mirrored on your computer. Use the option to replace all events on the iPod with the info on your computer during the next sync. You can find this option in the info pane, Advanced section.

you are responsible for reinstalling any apps. It is not Apples responsibility as outline the the service agreement. Do you have the product key?

All of your apps should be in iTunes on the computer, simply sync them back.
If they are not, go into the purchase history and download them again.

No. Anything that was created after your last backup will be gone.
Use iCloud to automatically backup your device, usually once every 24 hours.

Thanks, but I checked iCloud and it has none of them.
If it backed up to my laptop, that died and I just got the new computer. The one that's crashed won't even boot, so there's no way to even tell if it was syncing the contacts along with all the phone photos. Literally happened at the same time - it was because I had the new computer that I was finally able to pull the photos off the phone and make room for the upgrade. It had refused to upgrade for lack of space for some time.
I had thought it was set to sync to iCloud but it vanished from BOTH my phone and the cloud. That's why I'm so angry about it.

The iPhone doesn't store any information on the SIM at all. Updating the phone should not have affected anthing on the SIM. Are you sure you're not talking about contacts stored somewhere else?
Did you try re-importing the contacts from the SIM if that's where they came from?

I restored my iPhone trying to get rid of 10.53GB of OTHER hogging my phone, and I restore a back up and all my apps are gone...
Most of these apps were paid for, so I'm wondering:
1- How do I get my apps back?
Or, if I can't get them back,
2- Can I download paid for apps without paying a second time?

If for some reason you failed to transfer them to your computer (File>Devices>Trnsfer Purchases), then you would have to redownload them:

The backup that itunes performs does not include any itunes content.
