Recovering system software situation from a earlier date
I have a problem with the Backup on Time Machine.
Already for some days I get the message that "Backup was not performed because an error occurred while copying files to the backup disk"
It is not unlikely that I removed by mistake, an essential system file when removing files in a recent clean up?
In Windows it was always possible to go back to a selected date and replace the system files with the situation as it was on that earlier date. Using this Windows-capability has solved for me some serious problems.
Time Machine informs me that the most recent Backup has been performed on July 4th.
So if I could go back to the system files situation before July 4th I might be able to solve this back up problem with Time Machine?
Can anybody help me in this matter?
Thank you on beforehand!
Harry
Hey Muizen
I would take a look at the following article for troubleshooting back up issues. There should be a link for the specific issue that you are having.

My HP laptop running Windows 7 had become infected. I'd backed up data files prior to reformating and reinstalling the original software. Can you tell me the name of the file and/or folder that the bookmark info. had been stored and how to access this and import the info. into the Firefox that I've downloaded onto my newly re-formatted computer? I back up with an external hard drive using time machine. I am trying to reload my iphoto library but it won't let me get back to a date that I need to. How do I do this?
Try Pondini's articles;
http://pondini.org/TM/15.html - scroll down to the pink box for iPhoto restoation.
Also http://pondini.org/TM/15A.html to clarify how to use the timeline. -
Please help...
I can't get in my phone and this is sooo frustratingtThe only way to get passed it is by entering the correct passcode. If you are unable to the you need to follow how to restore via recovery with the article you referenced. Once you restore to factory settings you will then be able to restore from back up.

I had to replace the hard drive in my old MacBook. I replaced it. Installed OSX10.6. Then using the system software I reinstalled data from my Time Machine backup. On completion it asked for my password. It is not accepted. I am locked out how I overcome this?
I was already using 10.7. But only had the disc for 10.6.Sorry I am new to this. Am I in the right area? I am using my iPhone to make contact. I am worried.

My system software has crashed, and I am hoping to use an apple certified data recovery specialist in Atlanta. Who can I use and still have my warranty coverage after attempting to recover the data?
Contact the nearest Apple store for a definitive answer. We are users like you and cannot provide you with an accurate answer.

I have never done this before, so can someone explain in detail how I reintall my system software and then restore from Time Machine please ?
Your profile indicates that you currently have an older version of Snow Leopard (10.6.2). In order to install Lion, a prerequisite is the latest version of Snow Leopard (10.6.8). Perhaps a few more details would be helpfull in solving your problem. ex. If all you want to do is to upgrade to Lion, a restoration of data is unneccessary. Download the latest version of Snow Leopard and then download (purchase) and install Lion. User data will remain intact.
If I am missing something, please elaborate.

I recently suffered a hard drive failure that managed to take months worth of valuable work when it failed. I replaced the hard disk drive in my laptop and completed a fresh install of Windows Vista and all the programs that were used on that system which included Firefox. After finding an exact match of the drive that failed I managed to get the drive running again by replacing the drives control board and I am now able access the data on the drive.I usually really anal about backing up all of my valuable data but I have been so busy with my current project my usual habits went to the wayside. I need to recover the Firefox bookmarks from the old drive and recover them to the new drive but I haven't been able to find the file that contains the bookmarks from the previous installation of Firefox. Could somebody please help me locate these valuable bookmark files

Hi!
I've just migrated my old system (PowerMac G5 running 10.5) to a new MacBook Air (11'' Mid 2013) using the migration assistant. I've had problems with crashing applications (as far as I can see only Apple software has been affected: Mail, Preview, Contacts, TextEdit) since I've completed the migration.
I've already done the following: reinstalled 10.9.1 update, repaired permissions and checked volume through recovery. Reset SMC, PRAM and done a safe boot. Rebuilt the Spotlight index. Nothing has helped thus far.
Console is flooded with the following, repeated messages:
12.02.14 09:25:00,727 com.apple.launchd[1]: (com.apple.dspluginhelperd) The following job tried to hijack the service "com.apple.system.DirectoryService.legacy" from this job: com.apple.DirectoryServices

I guess that migration assistant moved something over that interferes with the new systems. Do you have any ideas what to do? My next step would be to reinstall the system from recovery. Any other suggestions?
Thanks!Solved. Threw away the only Imap-Account (Folder [email protected]) and it worked;

Regards,
ChakriThis generally occurs when you change the data source or enhance the data source or the coonections to the datasoiurse are broken. To resdolve thius sort of errors just
1. Check for the coonect between the sourse & target systems
2 . Replicate the data sourcses.
3. Acivated TR,UR,& the rest of the flow But check in the source system if the structre is modified & is so do the changes in the IS , TR,UR correspondingly & the try to load .Hoppe it allows you to load .
Thanks ,
