Recovering trial version of Norton antivirus

I lost my trial  version of Norton antivirus, which i got on purchase of T61. Please tell me the way using which i can recover it.

Not trying to be a smart-alec, but why would you want that back? It is terrible.
Go get one of the free anti virus programs out there. They are much easier on your system and catch more viruses than Norton Antivirus (not to be confused with Symantec Corporate antivirus which doesn't suck)
Edit: If you want a trial version of something get Nod32. It is worth paying for.

  • How do I remove Norton Antivirus?

I have a full version of Norton Antivirus. I had my suspicions last year when my MacBook acted funny and it caught a virus from 2 files that came from my PC. Well, I had OS X Tiger then and installed Norton Antivirus. Now I have Leopard and no longer want Norton Antivirus. My question is how do I remove Norton fully from my MacBook? I don't want any applications or any apps running in the background from Norton. Please help! Thanks

  • Incompatible software - Norton Antivirus 11

    Hi,
Is the latest version of Norton Antivirus compatible with Snow Leopard? As of November 2009, according to the Apple Support website, the answer is no. But, on the Norton website, Norton says the latest version of Norton Antivirus (released in early 2010) works with SL.
Has anyone been able to use the latest Norton software with Snow Leopard? If not, is there any antivirus software that works with SL?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

It should be. There are problems with Mac Pro.

    Ignore the lecturing.
The biggest problem I see is that you have to install NAV and then use Live Update. There is a new Norton Internet Security 4 ($79, seems awful high).
    http://www.symantec.com/norton/macintosh/internet-security
If you need something or want to, there is Intego but it feels "heavy" on system (not sure if v6 is lighter), and now Kaspersky ($39 AV only)

  • Norton AntiVirus version 10

    Mac G5 2 GHz version 10.4.4
Everytime I restart or start up Norton AntiVirus's Liveupdate screen box appears. How can I turn this off before restart and start up. Please advise me.

There should be a pref, either in your menu bar extra or in System Preferences that will allow you to de-activate it. Here is what the Symantec support site has, I see you can uninstall the feature... I didn't check all the articles.

I have tried installing it in the simplifed mode, with my firewall AND virus turned off, contacting Adobe, HP and Microsoft for support but nothing works. also tried the Adobe Support Advisor, but I can't even get it to run. If anyone has any help, I would appreciate it.
You can e-mail me personally at [email protected]
    Thank you.

    Ben,
I don't have Webshots installed. I have ran my AdAware and Spybot, and my Norton's Antivirus. I've also defragged and ran disk cleanup on my C drive. I've ran the Malicious Software Removal from Microsoft, and ran Disk Error Checking. I've done everything I can think of, and I still can't install either one.
I was thinking it was Windows Vista, but surely CS4 is compatible with Windows Vista. I thought maybe it might be the Service Pack 1 and thought about uninstalling that update, trying to install them, then reinstall Service Pack 1. What do you think? Think it might help?

    Hi,
    Check the following:
    - In the SAP Management Console, is the system running(green).
    - Have you installed the Loopback adapter
    - Disabled Windows firewall via Control Panel -> System and security -> Firewall
    - Also Norton might have its own firewall and blocking the SAP ports. Disable and retry.

  • RoboHelp 10 trial version installation gets to 65% and stops

I have been trying to install Robohelp 10 trial version on my Win7 Dell Laptop for about 4 hours now and it always stops at about the 65% complete mark (Currently Installing AdobeHelp).  I have tried at least 4 times and it stops in the same place every time.
    (1) I am running the program as Administrator
    (2) My system is Win7 (64-bit)
Any suggestions on how to fix this?
    Thanks in advance

    Hi inasall,
This might be caused due to the interference of some program running at the background.

  • Trial version, windows 7 user account control box comes up

Downloaded trial version of InDesign CS4 on Windows 7 64 bit OS system. I've also downloaded the most current update. Initial problem during installation of the program was that it wouldn't allow me to dowload all components, I think when I followed the technical link, it said something about having to edit the registry and something to do with ICC profiles.  I skipped that for now, didn't really want to go in and edit the registry until I played with the program a bit.
The question I have right now is, that while I can eventually get in the program and run it, when I click to start it, a Windows 7 User Account Control box pops up asking if I want to allow this program to make changes to my computer.  When I click details, it appears the Adobe certificate for this probram is not Windows 7 certified?? Does this happen to anyone else operating on Windows 7??  How do you get rid of that pop up box??  I know I can change my user account settings to not notify me, but that would leave my computer very vunerable so I rather not do that.
Only other program I had bring up that pop up on Windows 7 was Netscape 7, and that pop up box got pretty annoying so I had to go to another browser (yes I know Netscape was out dated, but I loved the email program vs. IE Outlook. I thought maybe it had something to do with my Norton antivirus and called their tech support and they told me no, it was a problem between Windows 7 and the program compatibility.

It's a brand new HP desktop PC with Windows 7 Professional factory insta
lled.  Yes, I'm the ony User, have Admin rights.
I looked at the certificate details when the pop up comes up and it lookes like the certificate is outdate, expired 12/10/09. I wonder if I'm getting an expired certificate because it's only a Trial version of InDesign CS4.
I went into the Windows User Account and tried to figure out the certificate manager, but I just don't understand it and can't figure out how to get it to allow this certificate so I don't get this annoying pop up window asking me if I want to allow this program to make changes to my computer everytime I start the program.

  • Tiger and Norton Antivirus

I am posting here as I haven't yet had a fix from Norton. The AV application has disappeared from the Norton Solutions folder leaving aliases and readmes. I have tried reinstalling using Update, my disk and from the redownload link in my saved order confirmation form. Still no App. Is Tiger treating it as a virus?

I would add that it not viruses that are the problem, but Trojans and malware.
No viruses that can attack OS X have so far been detected 'in the wild', i.e. in anything other than laboratory conditions.
It is possible, however, to pass on a Windows virus to another Windows user, for example through an email attachment. To prevent this all you need is the free anti-virus utility ClamXav, which you can download from:
    http://www.clamxav.com/
However, the appearance of Trojans and other malware that can possibly infect a Mac seems to be growing, but is a completely different issue to viruses.
If you allow a Trojan to be installed, the user's DNS records can be modified, redirecting incoming internet traffic through the attacker's servers, where it can be hijacked and injected with malicious websites and pornographic advertisements. The trojan also installs a watchdog process that ensures the victim's (that's you!) DNS records stay modified on a minute-by-minute basis.
You can read more about how, for example, the OSX/DNSChanger Trojan works here:
    http://www.f-secure.com/v-descs/trojanosxdnschanger.shtml
SecureMac has introduced a free Trojan Detection Tool for Mac OS X. It's available here:
    http://macscan.securemac.com/
The DNSChanger Removal Tool detects and removes spyware targeting Mac OS X and allows users to check to see if the trojan has been installed on their computer; if it has, the software helps to identify and remove the offending file. After a system reboot, the users' DNS records will be repaired.
(Note that a 30 day trial version of MacScan can be downloaded free of charge from:
    http://macscan.securemac.com/buy/
and this can perform a complete scan of your entire hard disk. After 30 days free trial the cost is $29.99. The full version permits you to scan selected files and folders only, as well as the entire hard disk. It will detect (and delete if you ask it to) all 'tracker cookies' that switch you to web sites you did not want to go to.)
A white paper has recently been published on the subject of Trojans by SubRosaSoft, available here:
    http://www.macforensicslab.com/ProductsAndServices/index.php?mainpage=document_general_info&cPath=11&productsid=174
    Also, beware of MacSweeper:
MacSweeper is malware that misleads users by exaggerating reports about spyware, adware or viruses on their computer. It is the first known "rogue" application for the Mac OS X operating system. The software was discovered by F-Secure, a Finland based computer security software company on January 17, 2008
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MacSweeper
On June 23, 2008 this news reached Mac users:
    http://www.theregister.co.uk/2008/06/23/mac_trojan/
More information on Mac security can be found here:
    http://macscan.securemac.com/
The MacScan application can be downloaded from here:
    http://macscan.securemac.com/buy/
You can download a 30 day trail copy which enables you to do a full scan of your hard disk. After that it costs $29.95.
More on Trojans on the Mac here:
    http://www.technewsworld.com/story/63574.html?welcome=1214487119
This was published on July 25, 2008:
Attack code that exploits flaws in the net's addressing system are starting to circulate online, say security experts.
The code could be a boon to phishing gangs who redirect web users to fake bank sites and steal login details.
In light of the news net firms are being urged to apply a fix for the loop-hole before attacks by hi-tech criminals become widespread.
Net security groups say there is anecdotal evidence that small scale attacks are already happening.
    Further details here: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/technology/7525206.stm
A further development was the Koobface malware that can be picked up from Facebook (already a notorious site for malware, like many other 'social networking' sites), as reported here on December 9, 2008:
    http://news.bbc.co.uk/newsbeat/hi/technology/newsid_7773000/7773340.stm
You can keep up to date, particularly about malware present in some downloadable pirated software, at the Securemac site:
    http://www.securemac.com/
There may be other ways of guarding against Trojans, viruses and general malware affecting the Mac, and alternatives will probably appear in the future. In the meantime the advice is: be careful where you go on the web and what you download!
If you think you may have acquired a Trojan, and you know its name, you can also locate it via the Terminal:
    http://theappleblog.com/2009/04/24/mac-botnet-how-to-ensure-you-are-not-part-of- the-problem/
As to the recent 'Conficker furore' affecting Intel-powered computers, MacWorld recently had this to say:
    http://www.macworld.co.uk/news/index.cfm?email&NewsID=25613
Although any content that you download has the possibility of containing malicious software, practising a bit of care will generally keep you free from the consequences of anything like the DNSChanger trojan.
    1. Avoid going to suspect and untrusted Web sites, especially *********** sites.
    2. Check out what you are downloading. Mac OS X asks you for you administrator password to install applications for a reason! Only download media and applications from well-known and trusted Web sites. If you think you may have downloaded suspicious files, read the installer packages and make sure they are legit. If you cannot determine if the program you downloaded is infected, do a quick Internet search and see if any other users reported issues after installing a particular program.
    3. Use an antivirus program like ClamXav. If you are in the habit of downloading a lot of media and other files, it may be well worth your while to run those files through an AV application.
    4. Use Mac OS X's built-in Firewalls and other security features.
    5. Stop using LimeWire. LimeWire (and other peer-to-peer sharing applications) are hotbeds of potential software issues waiting to happen to your Mac. Everything from changing permissions to downloading trojans and other malicious software can be acquired from using these applications.
    6. Resist the temptation to download pirated software. After the release of iWork '09 earlier this year, a Trojan was discovered circulating in pirated copies of Apple's productivity suite of applications (as well as pirated copies of Adobe's Photoshop CS4). Security professionals now believe that the botnet (from iServices) has become active. Although the potential damage range is projected to be minimal, an estimated 20,000 copies of the Trojan have been downloaded. SecureMac offer a simple and free tool for the removal of the iBotNet Trojan available here:

  • My trial version of dreamweaver won't open... Please help as the people from customer service refuse to! :(

I downloaded a trial version of dreamweaver. It worked for a
few days, then stopped working. When I click on the desktop icon it
loads and asks me if I want to continue with my trial (29 days
left) or enter serial number. When I click continue with trial a
"Dreamweaver 8" banner comes up (indicating it is loading) then it
closes. I phoned technical support and wasn't able to get through
several times. When I finally did (after 45 minutes) the conclusion
they gave me was that THEY COULD NOT HELP ME FOR "FREE" because it
was a trial version. I really want to learn this program and would
really appreciate any help. I also checked out the dreamweaver
download trouble-shooting page and tried a few things which did not
seem to help. My computer is fairly new and has more than enough
    memory (160G or so?).
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ANY HELP!

I'll try. What are your machine specs. You say 160G of
    memory? I am
assuming you mean a 160 gb hard drive. That is not memory.
    How much RAM do
you have? What operating system are you running?
Did you download the trial from the Adobe site? Do you have
    antivirus or
firewall software that might be blocking the program?

  • Installing SAP NetWeaver 7.0 - ABAP Trial Version on laptop

    Hi Experts,
Can any one help me to Explain the step by step procedure to install SAP NetWeaver 7.0 - ABAP Trial Version
    on my laptop?
    Regards
    Sarath S

    Hello Sarath,
here are some points you should keep in mind:
    1. Download both parts of the trail version from SAP --> link to it
    2. Each of both should have a size of about 1.4GB
    3. Save both files in the same directory
    4. Extract part1 with a zip-program like WinZip or WinRAR
    5. Check that you have about 15 or 20GB of free space
    6. Check that your hostname isn't longer than 13 characters
    7. Verify that your computer is ping-able by the ip-adress and the hostname
    8. Your user account has to be in the administrator-group of the computer
    9. Deactivate the installed antivirus- and firewall-program while installing
    10. If you had an older trail version already installed please check the steps in the first part of the following site to clean up your computer --> link to it ("Error code = 200...")
    11. Stop all running programs, go to the extracted folder, start the start.htm, click on the entry Installation in the right navigation and finally start the Installer
    12. Lean back for about an hour and cross the fingers that it will work
Also please don't use Vista - it isn't supported at the moment.
    Hope it helps.
    Good luck.
