Recovering Windows password from fingerprint reader

Hello,
I have used fingerprint reader for a long time and forgotten my windows password. However, I need it now.
I'm running Windows 8 on Lenovo E530 with Fingerprint reader 6.0.200.75.
Is it possible to reveal your windows password in the same way than website passwords? And if it is, how?
Googling didn't produce results and the previous topic here referred to fingerprint reader 5.9.x with different settings page, where it was possible.
Thank you for assistance.

An account that old is not likely to be accessible, but try http://iforgot.apple.com and see if you can get to it.  If you know the Apple ID for the account you can also see if you will get anywhere with http://appleid.apple.com

To backup or restore passwords in Firefox you need these two files:
    * key3.db (encryption key; [http://kb.mozillazine.org/key3.db])
    * signons.sqlite (encrypted names and passwords)

  • How do I remove Windows password from cmd?

    Hi all,
How do I remove the login password from another operating system on my computer using the command prompt?
I have four operating systems that were recovered  from the installation cd due to me having forgotten my password on the original one and that one has all of my music and stuff on there.
So how do I reset the password on an operating system from another operating system? I tried using command prompt from the recovery cd but that didn't do the trick.

You can reset Windows passwords using these.

Wouldn't it be easier to remove the drive, put it in a USB enclosure, and access it from another computer?

  • Password and Fingerprint reader

    Hi Guys -
I have been happily using my Fingerprint reader to power on and sign in for some time and I have totally forgotten my password (and my Hint was obviously a poor choice and failed me).
When I recently upgraded to Windows 8.1 and the computer was restarted I was asked for my password in a dialog box but had no idea.
I got around it by turning the power off and restarting but it occurs to me if my fingerprint reader fails I will need to know my password --
Once i power on and log in via the fingerprint reader - how can I find out my password?
Thanks for any help - Stephen

    Hi,
ISTR that this feature isn't available any more.  Something about Apple buying the reader manufacturer - and their patents - and refusing to supply the rest of the industry.  Readers available to Lenovo just can't do a power on.
Is T440s unable to power up with the fingerprint reader anymore?

The cause for electric shocks from the body/exposed metal like notebooks and other appliances can often be traced back to faulty wiring (lack of proper earth/ground) in the electric mains.
It seems you have already ruled that out by plugging out from the mains, and then checked if the electric shocks persist.
Try this again, If shocks persist, get to Lenovo service, otherwise a call to your electrician is in offing.

  • Windows 7 RTM fingerprint reader and webcam driver status for TX2

I read somewhere on HP's site that windows 7 drivers for this TX2 - 1027CA won't be available until October 2009. Still I am using it now, and the main system is running fine. There is an issue around the fingerprint reader, and possibly the webcam for me at this stage. Until HP delivers updated drivers, I wondered if there might be beta versions of drivers for the TX2 I might try. I'm willing to keep using windows 7, but I'd like to try to install updated drivers asap. That's possibly two months away, and one month into the OS availability to MSDN subscribers (many businesses and developers). I'm guessing there are some other people reading this list who have found what is and isn't possible on the TX2 today under 7. Would you mind giving us a brief run down on what drivers are working or not working? Fingerprint reader and webcam are of high interest for starters. My goal is to get working what can be working.

  • Power-on password and fingerprint reader

Hello! I am trying to enable power-on fingerprint authentication on T420, set everything everywhere like I did on my T61, but still every time after this
    I got this
and prompt for password right after. What am I missing?

    Hi tasafoni,
My TVT fingerprint settings and am able to login without entering password in BIOS. Note that the screenshot is taken from T410.
Check and see if you have the same.

  • I'm unable to recover Windows 8 from recovery media.

I am trying to do a system factory restore and have been unable to do so and am getting frustrated.
By the way I'm using the Thinkpad Twist s230u with Windows 8.0
Here is what I have done so far...
    1) Created recovery disk on a USB drive (I don't have any CD/DVD on this laptop).
    2) Rebooted and pressed F-11 to start recovery mode
    3) Chose my language and keyboard
    4) Selected "Troubleshoot" and "Reset PC"
    5) Selected "Target - Windows 8"
At this point, I get the message "Insert Windows Install or recovery media."
    I insert the USB disk.
I get the message "Media inserted is not valid."
    6) So I backtrack to "Troubleshoot".  Instead of "Reset PC" I choose "Advanced Options"
    7) I choose "System Image Recovery"
Now I get the message "Windows cannot find system image"
WTH?  I am sure that the USB media was created correctly and the recovery partition is intact on HDD 2 (Windows Disk Management shows the recovery partiation as "Hard Drive 2").  I try to browse for an image and it' asking me for a driver that has system info?  I can't get it to find the recovery partition, and it doesn't look like the USB disk has enough information to restore an entire OS.

I believe I have solved this problem by using a partition manager, making a copy of the recovery partition to the primary drive. Then "reset pc" seemed to recognize it.

  • T500: Fingerprint reader works only unreliable in Windows 7 64-bit

A few month ago I was running Windows 7 64-bit on my T500 and was using the fingerprint software version 3.3.0.50 which was working fine. When I ran system update it installed the newest version 3.3.2.27 and shortly after this the fingerprint reader began to make problems.
The problem is that when I boot the system the message "Please wait" stays there forever and I can not login using the fingerprint reader. I usually have to reboot several times before the fingerprint reader starts working again. When I login with the Windows password the fingerprint reader is not avaible in Windows.
At first this problem occured only seldomly however it becomes more frequent over time and after a few weeks the fingerprint reader becomes unuseable. Also there never was any error message and the Thinkvantage Toolbox claimes that everything is working as it should.
Because of this error I returned to Vista 32-bit where everything was working perfect. Last Thursday I installed Windows 7 64-bit again and the problem is showing up again.
Does anybody else have this problem?
Does anybody know a solution for this problem?
And does anybody know where I can get an older version the Windows 7 driver for the fingerprint reader which didn't have this problem on my system.

I bought my T500 last october and had it working fine for months with windows 7 upgrade untill there was an automatic software update.  Since then, I had 70 percent or more failures when trying to log in.  I have noticed this is worse under very dark conditions.  On top of that, it seems the installation did not completely remove the previous version and I assume this was causing a conflict.  To fix the problem, I went in program manager and unistalled the lenovo fingerprint softwares both of them and rebooted.   I was very surprised to see that there was still a fingerprint software installed (seemed to me a generic software not from lenovo).  I gave it a trial and It worked amazingly great since then...   so I am not planning to change anything to it!
    good luck

  • Fingerprint Reader question

How do you tell Think Vantage to sync up with any windows password changes?  I thought there was a setting to tell TV to use automatically use new Windows password with Fingerprint Reader without having to Re-Enroll the password in the Fingerprint Reader.
Thanks and I look forward to your reply.
