When requesting assistance, please provide the complete model name and product number of the HP computer in question. HP/Compaq makes thousands of models of computers. Without this information it may be difficult or impossible to assist you in resolving your issue.
The above requested information can be found on the bottom of your computer, inside the battery compartment, or on the BIOS startup/setup screen. Please do not include your serial number. Please enter the model/product information into HP's Online Consumer Support page and post it here for our review.
The HP Recovery Disc set is typically 3 or more DVDs and possibily an optional CD or DVD. Almost any external USB 2.0 or 3.0 DVD drive will do the job. This DVD drive can be strictly a reader or it can also be a writer. If it was mine, I would go with something like an "External USB Super Multi 8X DVD+/-RW w/Double Layer" drive for flexibility.

    Hello Ramakrishna,
Try to see on which kind of objects, the issue is ocurring. I mean try to see if you migrate only universes if it works. Then Crystal reports,...
We have a bug ADAPT01588140 which gives a similar error message (FWM 04011) and that should be fix in SP02 Patch 9 (should be release very soon)
This bug is about migrating reports that contains instances in xls or pdf format.
So might be worth to install the fix when it's out to see if it solves the issue for you also.

Computer locks up, so I want to reinstall the OS. I had upgraded to Snow Leopard.
Tried to do an archive and install from the DVD that came with the computer, but that failed.
Tried to do an erase and install, but the install stops somewhere near the end, 13 minutes to go. Tried several times, same result.
Can't reboot from the install disk, it just ejects the disk and I get the flashing question mark.
    Any suggestions will be appreciated.

I think my hard drive is toast.  When I boot in single user mode, I get the following text:
CSRHID Transition Driver: start booting in single user... will wait for window server
Then the following text appears, repeating itself over and over, except that the numbers (indicated by "xxxxxxx")

Does this indicate a bad hard drive?

  • Post "archive and install" recovery

I just did an "archive and install" on my iMac G5 (at the direction of my Apple Support Specialist). Now, I need to figure out how to recover some basic things, such as Address Book contacts, Safari bookmarks, etc.
For that matter, I'd like to know for sure whether I need to reinstall some applications that are no longer easily available on my desktop.

You should have been instructed to check "preserve user settings and preferences". There is a new folder called Previous System in your hard drive listing , look in there for missing applications and data. If you are lucky enough to have an external clone, you can use that.

  • Problem with Archive and Install - Second disc won't complete

I'm trying to run an archive and install for my iMac, OS 10.4.11. I get through the first disc fine, but after I put in the 2nd install disc, it gets all the way to the "finishing installation" and then won't move past "running GarageBand Demo Songs Installer Script". it says less than a minute remaining, and the downloading bar is swirling, but there is nothing happening and it hangs here for hours. I've tried reinstalling, but it will only ask me to load the 2nd disk again, and the same thing happens over and over. I even tried a different install disc 2, and the same thing happened. Is there a way to push past this, or start the entire archive and install again? when i reboot to the disc drive with the 1st install disk, it ask me to put in the 2nd disc.
This all started because iTunes was acting up after I got an ipod touch, no prior problems with the computer. Can anyone help?

I've seen this reported before. What some have had some success with is to do a custom install so the second disk is not needed. See BDAqua's tip to someone with the same issue in the Tiger forum.

  • CAN bus off fast recovery and slow recovery modes

    Hello,
I know that the busoff recovery procedure consists of monitoring the CAN bus until 128 sequences of 11 consecutive recessive bits have been observed.
But I want to know what is fast bus of recovery and slow bus of recovery.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Sagar Joshi

Where are you seeing the terms "fast bus off recovery" and "slow bus off recovery". As far as I know, the CAN spec defines just a single bus off recovery.

  • Booting from disc vs erase and install from disc

I need to erase and install.
I need the cleanest installation. I was thing about "erase and install" from the disc.
I know some people like to boot from the disc.
    What is best?
    Thanks.

To do an erase & install, you'll have to boot from the disc.

  • How can I get my apps back after recovery and installing ios 8?

I have updated my phone a couple of hours ago. Luckily all my photos, contacts, notes, messages... they are all here. But I don't have any of my old apps. Where can I restore them? Please don't tell me I have to download one by one again Most of them were free anyway, except for Whatsapp. And I tried going to app store, then clicking purchased and i don't find any apps there either. Please help?

Open iTunes. Connect your phone. Select your phone when you see it under Devices heading in iTunes' sidebar. In the main window select the Apps tab. All the apps you have stored in iTunes will be displayed. You will also have a list of the installed and uninstalled apps showing in a scrollable list. Scroll through the list and select all those you want installed. Then sync your phone using the Sync button.

  • Please Help! Can't move forward.Portfolio Recovery and Stellar Recovery. WHAT'S NEXT?

I have the same story most have heard 100x. When I went away to college I racked up debt and made poor financial decisons because I didn't have a good concept of money and Credit. Credit like most teens was this invisible forever giving gift and if I paid the minimums I would be ok'. Suprisingly, my minimum wage retail job didn't provide a stable income and my balances grew. I got overwhelemed really quickly and instead of dealing with the issue. I did a out of sight out of mind. Fast forward to present and I am cleaning up all the mess I made at 18-21 Y.O.  From this site I have made a some nice leaps to the right direction. Last year around this time I was at a 420 now I am at a 612! Recently got engaged and me and my Fiancee are looking to purchase a home by the end of this year/ begining of next year. My income is stable, my career is stable, I have a little savings. The only thing holding me back is CS. I thought my best way to move CS faster is to get my 2 Collections deleted. One is from Stellar Recovery for 152 (old comcast bill/cable) from 2013 and the other is from Portfolio Recovery for 676 (I think old BestBuy cc) from 2012.  I sent Stellar Recover a DV letter it arrived today. I sent the letter because I have heard a lot of positive things about Stellar. That they delete a lot of accounts and they do so quickly. Also, with such a low balance, I am hoping they feel it's not worth the man hours to even try to look for the information. In terms of Portfolio Recovery I sent a DV letter but the address was wrong (got the alert today) so I called Fedex and asked them to return it. I think that might have been a great mishap. I have read many articles and PR and they seem to be known as the Sharks of the Debt Collectors and sometimes sending DV is a death sentence. I recently read article that you may not even be on their radar but when you send a DV you are letting them know you are a person who is conscience about his/her debt and wants to fix it; it's like blood in the water. They will now pursue you without abandon and possibly sue. My question is, should I send the letter or leave it be? I'm just worried since I am in SOL for both I don't want to draw unnessary attention but I also feel like a waiting duck and desperately want to move forward in my life.

In the same article the repoter was talking to some of the Employees. A staff memeber is quoted as yelling out "We got one" it was a man who had some really large medical expenses and had been unemployed for a very long time. As soon as he got his first paycheck they started in on garnishing his check. They are ruthless. I understand thay "we" owe debt and I understand it should be paid. But sometimes I think we forget about the hummanity of it all.  Your post was really helpful. I can learn from what you went through and avoid PR NightmareCthulhunoodle wrote:
They absolutely do. They informed me they had another debt under my name. From 1997. Well past the statute of limitations on that one, but I'm sure it won't stop them. Thank goodness I'm smart enough to hang out on this forum and seek sound advice. And the kicker... at the end of the phone call in which I'd paid my years long debt, they asked me why I'd defaulted in the first place. "Pregnant, lost my job and had to move into my mother-in-law's house. Bad time all around." She asked if I was employed now. I answered in the affirmative. Who's your employer, came next. My answer: "I'd prefer not to say." I'm sure if I'd replied it would be logged in a database somewhere, waiting to be used.

I have downloaded the iso image of the Solaris 10 10/08 companion DVD.

  • Distribute Flash Projector on CD/DVD and install on local pc?

    Hi,
does anybody know if its possible to distribute a Flash project as a Projector on CD/DVD, and install the CD/DVD (i.e. the Flash project) on the local computer? After installation the user should be able to start the Flash application via the Programs Menu (windows).
The Flash Projector will have external (relative) files for video, mp3, assets, data etc.
(I know AIR is an easy solution, but that probably isnt an option as there's no AIR knowledge present)
Thanks a lot in advance for any tips or sugestions.

I search in google but dont get satisfactory answer ... ...Crash recovery is performed whenever their is instance failure (single instance or RAC)
Crash recovery is done in two phase 1) Cache recovery 2) Transaction Recovery.
So crash recovery includes cache recovery.
Cache recovery means to apply redo log from log cache to the datafiles which may contain uncommitted transaction also.
These uncommitted transactions should be rolled back during crash recovery, and hence in transaction recovery it applied undo for all such uncommitted transaction.

  • Archive and install: can't seem to do it

Mail 2.1.3, for incomprehensible reasons, has stopped download new emails from my hosting service. Nothing has changed, except for the get mail_ problem.
I decided to reinstall my system, so that I could get a clean copy of Mail. When I used the original 10.4 install disc and chose Archive and Install, the disc went through all the motions, including the creation of a Previous Systems folder. After restarting, however, the machine booted off a different hard drive, and the re-installed disk still had 10.4.11.
What happened, and how can I force this re-installation?
    Thanks.

    How to Archive & Install:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107120
This document explains how to correctly reinstall a prior version of Mac OS X in the event that other troubleshooting does not resolve an issue:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=25404
BUT: Don't install older versions of Mac OS than what comes with your computer:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=25497
But before you do all that, check your settings in System Preferences/Network, as well as your account settings in Mail.

  • Installing iLife 08 (DVD) on G4 Cube (500MHz)

    Seemingly simple issue:
Install some components of iLife08 on my older Cube desktop; specifically iPhoto 7.
No DVD player in the Cube, but have both a Macbook Pro and Macbook Air w/ DVD players (and yes, I did try to connect the USB DVD drive for my Air to the Cube and it doesn't work = sigh).
In the past, I have simply connected the Cube to another Mac, booted it with command Z so it boots as a drive off the other laptop and installed off a DVD that way.
But the iLife DVD seems to prohibit this.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
It is just the iPhoto application I am looking to update from v6 to the newer v7 to work on some projects.
