Go to Control Panel --> System and Security --> Administrative Tools --> Computer Management --> Storage --> Disk Management.
From this window you can view and modify partitions of almost any storage device attached to your computer. There isn't a lot that you can do with the currently mounted hard drive besides formatting (which erases all the partitions) and modifying the sizes of the partitions. If you take the hard drive out of your laptop though and plug it in to another computer (like your desktop) with another bootable hard drive, you can use these steps and should have more freedom to modify the partitions on the hard drive.

Tried a hard reset and None of the function keys work. I'm still going to Windows Error Recovery. As before, when I launch startup recovery it shows a bar that windows is loading files then it goes to a blank screen with a light beam design then stops. If I select Start windows normally it starts loading windows then hangs up and goes back to the Windows error Recovery.

    Hi @A133 ,
Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. Futoji asked me to take a look at your issue. I would try going into safe mode and undoing the last 3 updates. Something has not gone well. If not you will have to try a system restore again.
Please note remove any and all USB devices. Disconnect all non-essential devices.
Try to turn on the computer you start to press F11 repeatedly till the menu opens. You can do a system restore. System restore will help if something automatically updated and did not go well on the Notebook.
Please let me know what happens.
    Thanks.

  • HP Pavilion dv6-6c14nr Entertainment Notebook PC -- No webcam detected

    My name is Sarah.
I have a HP Pavilion dv6-6c14nr Entertainment Notebook PC
    Model: A6Y00UA
Operating System: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
I first realized I had a webcam problem today when I tried video chatting on Skype. I do have a built-in webcam, as there is a lens above my screen with the words "HP TrueVision HD" beside it.
I opened CyberLink YouCam (it came standard with my laptop) and received this message:
From here, I found the Webcam Troubleshooting (Windows 7) help page via Google. I followed "Reinstalling the original webcam program that came with your computer in Windows 7," but got no results. I followed "Can't find the webcam or webcam software," but got no results. I then followed "Video does not appear in your webcam software (such as YouCam, Skype, Messenger, etc.)," but got no results.
Next, I found the Testing a Webcam Using YouCam help page via search on the HP website. I followed the instructions until step 2 "Verify the webcam hardware is recognized in Device Manager" when I had to stop here:
I returned to the Webcam Troubleshooting (Windows 7) help page and followed the instructions for "Webcam is not listed in Device Manager (Windows 7)," but again got no results.
I did not use Microsoft System Restore because 1) I don't know exactly when my webcam went from working to not working, and 2) I am unsure what a system restore will do in terms of me losing any data or programs.
If anyone has any advice or knows exactly what I need to do, I appreciate the feedback.

I would guess one of two things-either the webcam has failed or the cable that runs from the webcam is unplugged from the motherboard.

  • Win 7 64bit OS Re-install (HP Pavilion dv6-7003xx Entertainment Notebook PC)

    Product name:
HP Pavilion dv6-7003xx Entertainment Notebook PC
Hi, my computers hard drive failed. So I went out, bought a new hard drive and tryed installing windows 7 64bit Home premium again. When the windows disk is about to finish, it give me this message.
"Windows could not complete the installation. To install Windows on this computer, restart the installation."
I have tryed re-installing windows, but this problem continues to arise.
I did some searching and found a forum that said the, "Intel(R) Moblie Express Chipset SATA RAID controller" needs to be installed using the windows disk, the "Load dirves" option. But this still doesn't work.
Any help would be much appreciated.

    Hi,
There are two posts on the first page of this Microsoft forums thread that I think may help you.
"Windows could not complete the installation. To install Windows on theis compuiter, restart the ins..."
One is by MarkBeacom, the other is by Para Normal. Both suggestions worked for others. You would have to see if either are able to help you.

    Hi,
Just so that I'm certain, do you mean you want to remove the Recovery Partition?
If that's correct, see the HP document on the following link.

  • HP Pavilion dv6-7010us Entertainment Notebook PC

My motheroarbd went out on my DV6 7010.
I had to wait awhile before I could get another MB so used the HD from it for another computer (HPG-60)
Now I am putting it back in my DV6 7010US.
The problem is it seems that the windows from my other computer is on this.
I am on it writing this (DV6 7010us) so can get online etc, but I wanted to re-install the oporiginal software that came with this computer.
I can't do a recover due to the stuff from the other puter being on the HD now.
I have a recovery disc set but thinks its for the other computer.
I have tried Windows and HP Updates, but still doesnt seem to reload.
I tried to get the website to auto detect and it said it couldnt detect this computer.
So no sure what to do. Am I going to have to order another set of discs, or do the discs I have work for almost all the HP laptops? The driver disc also, is it specific to a model or just general drivers?
I am downloading and installing all the drivers I can from HP driver download, but it still is not going back to the way it was.
    What can I do?

I understand that you are looking to setup your notebook using the original operating system that first came with it, and I would be happy to help you!
Provided that all of the original hardware is installed in your HP Pavilion DV6-7010us computer, you can recover the original operating system using a set of recovery discs. • HP Pavilion dv7-1020ea Entertainment Notebook PC

My HP Pavilion dv7-1020ea Entertainment Notebook PC is not working properly, can anyone help please?
problem description : After traveling with my laptop I started it without a power supply. It worked ok, but then when I plugged in the power the next day the power light came on on the side of the laptop but the battery power did not stop going down and the computer did not register the presence of a power supply. Once the battery power ran out the computer did not start up again.
Now when I start it the laptop sounds like it is booting up for about 5 seconds before it sounds like it powers down. The lights on the keyboard light up and stay lit, and the caps lock light flashes but nothing happens on the screen.
troubleshooting : I took the computer to PC World and the tech guys plugged it into a monitor and it didn't produce a signal. Also a tried removing battery and power supply and pressing the power button for 30 seconds and it did not work.
Can anyone give any advice please?
    Thanks very much,

If the catch is defective, take it back to Wal-Mart.
If there is a program or some back-ground task that's causing the problem, then re-installing the OS with the recovery partition may solve the problem.
Take it to a computer repair store and ask them if they have another drive around that you could try.  At least that would tell you if it's a hardware problem.
Most drives come out with one screw.
Also try doing a hard reset. Unplug everything from the laptop and remove the battery.
Hold the power button down for 60 seconds.  Only plug the adapter back in (do not install the battery at this point)
Boot up and the next time you shut right down, install the battery. Do not install the battery in sleep or hibernation mode.
I'm thinking a hard reset may stop what ever weird function or program that's causing the problem _ assuming that is the problem.

  • HP integrated bluetooth module in Pavilion dv7-2173cl Entertainment Notebook PC support A2DP?

Is my 2009 internal bluetooth module out of date?  Can I upgrade?
I can connect an external bluetooth speaker, but windows is unable to find drivers.  According to HP.com, the drivers are up to date.  The icon for the speaker shows up in Devices and Printers window, but with a yellow error triangle.  It seems pairing is successful up to a point; I just can't use the bluetooth peripheral.  I know I can buy an external usb dongle that may or may not work, but I want don't want to have another external usb dongle as I have one for a mouse.

    SillyBilly1,
Sorry for not replying to the second part of your post.
I didn't notice it until after I hit post and then I had to do some research and there is not much documentation which devices are A2DP.
From talking to people, your laptop Bluetooth will support the A2DP.
The device that you are trying to connect the laptop will be what has the restriction on it.
Let me know how everything goes.

  • Upon running Norton Security Suite Diagnostic Report on my HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook PC on a Windows 7 Home Premium platform, it shows 2 (hidden) devices not working: Antilog32, and AODDriver4.1--Code 24.

On the General tab for device status it says: "This device is not present, is not working properly, or does not have all its drivers installed. (Code 24)" The only option available when I click
on properties of both devices is Start. When I click on Start for Antilog32, this message shows: "The system encountered the following error when it attempted to start the service: The system cannot find the file specified." For AODDriver4.1, the
message when you click Start on Driver tab is: "The system encountered the following error when it attempted to start the service: The system cannot find the path specified." I do not know how to proceed or
how to fix this, or where to find a solution. Please help!

    Hello pds48478480,
Do you mean you got the error code 24 in Norton Security Suite Diagnostic Report?
Please share us a screenshot for better analyzation.
Please take a look at the following thread about the AODDriver4.3.
    http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows8_1-performance/the-aoddriver43-service-failed-to-start-due-to-the/cb6b7f03-922b-4b82-972f-e92ef9919964
AODDriver 4.3 is used by AMD OverDrive which tune parameters to help system stability, optimize performance, and control cooling/acoustic characteristics.
With the issue description it seems the driver and the service is either stopped or not working correctly.
Refer to the link below and install the latest version of AMD OverDrive.

  • Rolling screen HP Pavilion dv4 1540us - 64 bit 4GB Windows 7 Home Premium

The screen on my laptop has started rolling intermittently. It rolls more when I first turn it on or after I have closed it and open it back up. Most of the time it goes from constant rolling, to slower rolling and eventually it stops. What can be done for this?

If you want to fix this problem the simplest thing to do is buy a Dell.  Seriously though it probably isn't the computer at all.  It might be your home\office power.  We are seeing this same issue.  Our troubleshooting shows that if the end user is using a 3 prong power cable they have this problem if they are using a 2 prong power cable they are not.
It's odd because normally the power brick will even out the issues with surges but for some reason it is not.
You can try removing the drivers and letting them reinstall but chances are it won't resolve this problem.  Atleast it didn't resolve it for our employees.

  • HP Pavilion A1429.UK - No Sound On Windows 7 Home Premium

Hey folks, got a wee problem.
I have recently put Windows 7 Home Premium onto my computer.  The install worked perfectly but every time I install the drivers for the X-120 speakers that came with the computer, after a few hours it disable itself and no sound plays.  And I have to Re-Install the drivers each time this happens.
What can I do to stop this happening and to stop me installing the driver each time the computer disables the driver?

Your PC has not been certified by HP for Windows 7 or VISTA.  Putting that aside,  I suspect the sound driver needs an update. Go to www.realtek.com and look for a newer driver.  Why do you need speaker drivers since the on board audio should do the job?
Go to Device Manager and look for yellow exclamation points, yellow question marks or red Xs.
    Try this procedure:
Unplug the PC and open it up. Clean out all the dust. Carefully remove and replace all the cables going to the motherboard one at a time. Do the same for the memory dimms and the video and sound cards if you have any. Plug your PC back in a give it a go.

  • HP Pavilion dv2700 CTO Entertainment Notebook PC with Windows Vista - Problem with DVD/CD Player

Have only played maybe 5 movies with this laptop system and than it stopped working all together. Have asked for support while under warranty with no success. Don't understand why the unit is still fairly new but will not play any cd's or dvd movies.

Windows Media Player and Windows Media Center will play music cd's. Inserted DVD Movie and went to computer and double clicked E Drive and it did not display any files.
Inserted a DVD movie and went to Windows Media Cenetr and clicked play DVD and it said the following " WMC cannot detect a video DVD in the DVD-ROM Drive". I ejected the DVD and than reinserted same and can hear something running and clicking but still will not play a DVD.
I believe I've played maybe 5 DVD Movies since purchased this unit new and then it stopped playing any DVD's.
