Recovery disc error code: 0xe0ef000e

Back in December I started getting warning messages about my SMART Drive failing and was told to create recovery disks for my Pavilion dv-7 Notebook, which I did. A few weeks ago the hard drive crashed and I replaced it. When I went to recovery page my disks did not work and I received the following error code: 0xe0ef000e. I looked on HP support website and saw where I could order new recovery disks which I attempted to do and they are not available. So I have a 2 year old $1000 laptop for which I just bought a new $100 hard drive and it's unuseable. Any suggestions on what to do next?

Hi,
There are a couple of options.
1.  You could try the reliable 3rd party reseller Here.
2.  Here's an alternative ( and cost free ) option you could try.
Before trying the following, make sure you can still read the 25 Character Product Activation key on your Windows COA label ( 5 blocks of 5 alpha/numeric sets ).
An example of a COA Label can be seen Here.
You can create a Windows 7 installation disc yourself using another PC - just download the correct Disc Image ( this must be the same version that originally came with your notebook ) from the link below and use an application such as ImgBurn to burn the ISO correctly to a blank DVD - a guide on using ImgBurn to write an ISO to a disc is Here.  These Images are clean and from a well-respected source, however there are only limited versions available.
Windows 7 Images.
Use the disc to perform the installation, enter the Windows activation key found on the COA Label when requested and when the installation has completed, use the 'Phone Method' detailed in the link below to activate the OS - this method supported by Microsoft and is popular with people who just want a clean installation of Windows 7 without the additional software load normally bundled with OEM installations.
http://www.kodyaz.com/articles/how-to-activate-windows-7-by-phone.aspx
Any additional drivers and software you may need can be found by entering either your Model No. or Product No. Here.

  • HP recovery could not restore computer error code 0xe0ef000e

I bought a nice Solid State drive.  Unfortunately it is not possible to upgrade my system to new hard drive.  It fails every time with HP recovery could not restore computer error code 0xe0ef000e.  This is after removing everything...  graphics card, ram, cd drive...  nothing is plugged in except the keyboard, monitor and mouse.
Windows 8 strikes again.  Does anyone have any suggestions about how to actually use the recovery disks to reinstall windows 8 onto a new solid state drive.  I hate this computer and wish I would have never bought it actually.  It's been nothing but crap from day one.

It's the HP 500-023w desktop.  I ended up just buying a Winodws 8.1 OEM disk and installing that on the SSD.  The recovery tool is a bit useless.  Reading through various forum posts it seems I would have ended up spending hours trying to figure it out or else buying the recovery disks from HP.  Just paying $89 for an OEM disk is a good deal by comparison since at the very least the computer has no bloatware on it now.
What a hugely unnecessary hassle really.  Now if only I could get this heap of junk to boot with a PCI-e graphics card installed I might actually be able to use it with two monitors.  Good grief.

  • Error Code 0xe0ef000e - Please Help!

Sunday morning, my hard drive crashed and I tried to re-install the OS, trying both the recovery disks and loading it directly from the hard drive, only to have it "freeze" at the same point each time.
I ran a diagnostic on the hard drive and it told me I had to replace it.
After talking directly which HP regarding my make and model, they sent me a new drive. The tech said that the OS was already loaded on the new hard drive so I wouldn't need to use my recovery disks.
I received the new hard drive yesterday, put it in my laptop, but when I booted up my computer, I received the message "Boot manager missing". I ran the diagnostic on the hard drive and everything was okay with it.
The HP tech said it could be something with the connection between the hard drive and the motherboard, but I tried my old hard drive again and it was able to boot up (and begin installing the OS, only to freeze again).
With the new HD installed, I tried loading the OS directly from my recovery disks instead, and this is where I got the error code: 0xe0ef000e. I was about 65% done with the installation when this message popped up.
If someone could please offer some advice on what to do next I would really appreciate it!

    Hi,
I would definetely run the test Mumbodog suggested.  If your memory is ok, the process I mentioned will atleast mean you're starting the installation with a clean HDD.

  • Phone stuck in recovery mode error code 40 and would not restore

My Iphone 3GS stuck in recovery mode error code 40 and would not restore.I was with AT & T.Please help!

    Hi there...
Actually I was stuck with this situation yesterday. Here is what I did to overcome this issue: I hope it helps.
To start with, here are few things to you should make sure of:
1- You have the latest version of iTunes. You may try to uninstall and reinstall iTunes.
    2-Restart your Windows.
    If still no luck, try editing the Hosts file, here is how;
1- click on RUN then copy and paste the following:
    notepad c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts
    2- look for gs.apple.com
3- if there are numbers infront of it just delete them or just type # before the numbers.
4- Save the file and try restoring again.
Note: you should have administror access to edit the Hostes file.
put your iphone in DFU mode before restoring.
I hope this helps. It did for me

  • Windows 8 Recovery failed; Error code: 0xc000000f

    Hi,
I am having some trouble with my HP Envy m6 laptop.
I was using Windows 8 pro for almost a year without having any problem. After installing Win8.1 Pro, I had trouble booting and called in HP support and conducted a System Recovery. Everything was good but system was slower.
So, I backed up all data and then proceeded to do a Factory Reset (with HP Recovery Manager) with my HP Recovery DVDs which I have burned earlier. Everything seems to be working fine however the restoration failed (Incomplete restoration)! Tried couple of times but same problem.
While conducting some self-tests, 'Memory Test' (under Run-In Test) failed with "FAILURE ID: RGCD5F-6G56SV-XV7X0K-406803".
At the end, got following error:
    "Recovery
Your PC needs to be repaired
A required device isn't connected or can't be accessed.
    Error code: 0xc000000f
You'll need to use the recovery tools on your installation media. If you don't have any installation media (like a disc or USB device), contact your system administrator or PC manufacture."
I tried to reach HP Support since still have warrenty but unfortunately I just wasted my time talking to them. I purchased my laptop from Canada but currently living in Australia which made it really difficult to communicate with them.
Can anyone please give me some idea what I needed to do to resolve this issue? I went through several articles in here but failed to get the correct ones. Most of them are for Windows 7 and there are many differences in Windows 8!
I am urgently requesting some assistance from a HP expert who has experience dealing similar issues.
    Thank you.
    Best Regards,
    Suranjit

The failure ID that you have provided for the memory test means that the Checksum has failed. This means that it is not finding a part that should be available, but is not showing. After taking a look into the issue of the memory test failing, the most likely cause of the failure is one memory modules has failed. I have included a link to another HP Forum thread here. Please follow the steps that DavidPK has outlined.
For the recovery error message that you are getting, this means that an integral component used during startup can not be found. This error should resolve itself once the memory Checksum error is resolved.
If your notebook has two memory modules, you should be able to boot from the one memory module until the other one is replaced.
Please let me know the outcome of the troubleshooting, thank you.

I started over went to settings and changed this and began recovery process again. First error 0xe0f00013  during disk 2 searched forums and couldnt find anything. Hi
There are few important things that you need to check please find the steps given below.
    1) Please go to Bios page and run the Hard drive & Memory test and check if both the test passes. Incase any test fails then you need to replace the part.

  • Unable to make recovery disk-Error code:020123

I just recently bought Satellite P755-S5265  and I am having trouble creating recovery discs.
When using the Recovery Media Creator program, I can create Discs 1 to 3, but am having trouble on disc 4.
About halfway during the downloading sequence this error pops up:
    Failure to open file
    D:\DATA.INI
    (Error Code:020123-F1-0000000)
I have gone through several DVD-R discs each having the same error.
I've also tried using the Hard Disk Recovery utility to restore the computer to manufactory settings, but the same error pops up again.
Could someone please help me out?
I appreciate an help I can get.
    Thank you in advance

If you're getting the error both when creating recovery media and when recovering the computer using the recovery partition, it sounds like there's a problem with the data on the recovery partition itself.
    I'd contact support at (800) 457-7777.

Hi ! Iuse memorex DVD-R. What I would do is buy a usb and create your recovery on it. That is if your machine will boot to a USB. I have a 16GB USB with my recovery on it. It would be a lot easier to use it than all those discs You can check boot sequence to see if your machine will boot from USB

  • RECOVERY LOOP: (Error Code:0xc0000185) PC doesn't load my operating system windows 8.

    Hello,
About 3 weeks ago my just over a year new laptop took a fall onto the carpet from 4 feet above... my screen was cracked so I ordered a new one and put it in yesterday. Now, I am having problems. I start up my laptop, the HP logo with a timer circle is spinning below it, then it says " your Pc ran into a problem and needs to restart", it restarts and then it says, " Recovery- Your PC couldn't start properly. A required device isn't connected or can't be accessed. Error Code: 0xc0000185." With a bunch of other stuff written below it.. I have tried all the prompts possible. I did do a HP PC HARDWARE DIAGNOSTIC UEFI test, both the short and extended one. It says FAILED - Failure ID: GLXS3H-6MF76S-MFPWWJ-60S603, with the Product ID: C5E40UA#ABA then right below HARD DRIVE 1.
My lap top will not go into the windows screen now at all. I am guessing the fall my lap top took did some damage to the hard drive and that is the internal problem now. I did look at a video on how to take the hard drive out and I did unplug, remove battery, and take it out and took the controller board off, check to make sure nothing was lose or broken, and put back together and reinserted it into my laptop and I am still having the same loop as above happening.
    INFO about my laptop:

    -Windows 8
    -750 GB Hard Drive
If you need any other information let me know and I will send it your way. I appreciate any help you give in advance.

    Hi,
One factor that can cause this error is replacing the original HDD with a drive of smaller capacity - if this is the case, recovery discs almost always fail to work correctly, however there isAssuming this is an alternative option you could try.

  • Burn Disc Error Code 0x8020063

I've been trying to burn photo files onto a disc for the past 4 days. Initially I was attempting to burn raw photos to a disc and ended up converting the images to JPEG. I've tried using Finder, iPhoto and Apeture and all three programs give me the same error message "This disc could not be verified and might be unrediable. Try again using a new, blank disc. (Error Code 0x80020063)" - I've gone through 8 or 9 blanks discs so far on two separate computers. Any suggestions

Have you tried a different brand of discs? Have you tried cleaning the drive's lens?

    Hi seewill,
This is interesting so can you give us more details please? I mean what notebook model you have and when you get this error message exactly.
Of course, in worst case the recovery disk is faulty but maybe the DMI informations are not set as Akuma wrote you had only to format the HDD before.
