Recovery disc(s) for Satellite A135-2266 - help? for laptop donation to kenya orphanage

Hi,
I am hoping someone can help me here, or maybe tell me how to do this myself? I have a Satellite A135-2266 that needs to have the HD replaced. This computer, if I can get the recovery discs, will be donated to an orphanage in Kenya that our church supports.  I will replace the HD myself, but I need the recovery discs (this was my son's laptop - he's in the navy and it died on him after only 6 mos, but he was not able to get it to land in time for warranty - and now he cannot locate the recovery disc.  This is my plea for help. If anyone has recovery discs for this model, is there any chance they could copy them for me - I'd pay for the discs and shipping, so that I can fix it and get it to the orphanage?  HELP? if anyone has any other suggestions, I'm all ears.  I will be calling Toshiba to see if they can help me out, but I have faith in the users here to maybe be my salvation.
Many thanks!

  • Re: I lost recovery disc 1 for Satellite P10

Hi there, my son has lost recovery disc 1 for his Satellite P10.
We have got disc 2 (drivers) but not disc 1.
Where can we obtain another recovery disc 1. and what will it cost approx .

    Hi
Usually you could order it from the ASP in your country but Im not quite sure if you will be able to order such disk because the P10 is an older notebook series and possibly the recovery disks are not more available for this model.
However, you should contact the ASP in your country to get a confirmation.
Maybe you are a lucky man and the CD is available.
    Good luck

  • Osx lion: available space on my HD has increased significantly since the iCloud and recovery disc updates for Mac.

osx lion: available space on my HD has increased significantly (doubled!) since the iCloud and recovery disc updates for Mac. I am guessing OSX Lion now recalculates what is 'available' as I have not deleted anything major. I have two MacBook Air's (1 core 2 duo and 1 i5), both with 256 drives. I am also running win 7 on Parallels 7. Any thoughts?

you can't necessarily download the Mountain Lion installer via the App Store since it came already installed on your computer.
Not true. You can go to the Mac App Store and download the installer
(from the link that WALTER-MILANO-ITALY posted above)
Install OS X Lion or OS X Mountain Lion
If you completed your installation of OS X, your installer may have been removed after your successful first login to OS X Lion or OS X Mountain Lion.  Mac App Store's Purchases page should show Install OS X as being "Installed", and disallow its download, when viewed from a computer running OS X.
To redownload the installer on a computer running OS X Lion or OS X Mountain Lion, press and hold the Option key while you click the Purchases tab. If the button to the right of the Install OS X Lion or OS X Mountain Lion item doesn't change to "Install" and allow you to download OS X, use Spotlight to search for "Install OS X Lion or OS X Mountain Lion" on your computer.

  • Toshiba recovery disc usage for Satellite A300-211

i bought my lap last april and after the crash of the system.
I used the recovery disc that i made from the image on the hard disc but it erased all the data in the two partitions.
My question: Is there a way to use the disc to format partition C only without erasing the data on the other partition?

    Hi
To start the HDD recovery procedure follow these steps:
    - press F8 after powering up the unit
    - choose option Repair my Computer
    - in new window choose Toshiba HDD recovery
Now HDD recovery should start up and you should follow the steps on the screen.
As mentioned by Paupau, the HDD recovery should format the C but should leave the D partition untouched.

  • Cannot use the recovery disc with my Satellite A100

I have Satellite Pro A100 Series, when I boot it up it tells me "Windows could not starte because the following file is missing or corrupt" \WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEM
I have tried to reboot with the recovery disc in and pressed F12 for the boot menu, selected CD/DVD and nothing happens.
Any help or ideas would be great,.

    Hi!
This is strange but if you have tested different disks on your notebook it seems that your CD/DVD drive is faulty and must be replaced.
How do you think about this?
If you have Windows Vista on your notebook you can use the HDD recovery function. Go in the advanced boot menu, select repair my computer and follow the screen instructions.
Anyway, I think you must replace the CD/DVD drive to solve the issue.
    Bye

  • Questions about recovery discs and partitioning Satellite A200-QH0

I bought a Satellite A200-QH0 model in Australia and due to lack of forums in our country I'd like to ask some questions here if that's ok.
The notebook contains 3 partitions - a 1.6GB "EISA Configuration" partition, the large OS partition, and the recovery partition. So I've made the recovery DVD??s using the Recovery Disc Creator tool as we aren't supplied with an actual disc. But I would like to know what these discs will do? My questions:
    1. Will they truly return the hard drive back to _exactly_ how it was including the partition layout and pre-installed software?
    2. Will the recovery DVDs work even if the drive has been repartioned? I would like to split the system partition to give space for data files etc. But will this extra partition stop the recovery procedure working properly?
Please understand that I'm not interested in reformatting the entire drive. I just want to split the OS partition. But in case I have to replace the drive in the future or something I'd like to know how close to "original" these discs will get me, no matter what I do to the drive?
    Thanks,
    Dave

    Hi
Im not 100% sure how the recovery works on the Toshiba Australian notebooks but I presume the Recovery CD contains the Toshiba image with the Windows OS, drivers, tools and utilities.
I think if you would use the Recovery CD then the whole HDD will be formatted and all partitions will be erased.
I think the recovery partition will be not created using the recovery CD because the recovery CD was already created so the recovery partition is not necessary anymore

  • Recovery Disc need for

Laptop has a Black screen 2 flashes at the caps key, tried all the suggestions on the forum nothing is working.
Sadly I dont have a recovery disc.
help needed please, where can I get one are they readily in stock?
    Thank you

    Hi there:
You can try Recovery using the built in Recovery partition present in HDD unless you've formatted or upgraded your laptop:
    http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01867418
The only other option left is to CLEAN INSTALL Windows 7 if your laptop came with Windows 7 pre installed & you can CLEARLY & LEGIBLY read all the 25 characters of product activation key printed in COA sticker on the back of the laptop:
    http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/219487-clean-reinstall-factory-oem-windows-7-a.html
    http://www.w7forums.com/threads/official-windows-7-sp1-iso-image-downloads.12325/
    From your specs: http://support.hp.com/gb-en/product/HP-G56-100-Notebook-PC-series/4247525/model/4315390/document/c02...
I could understand that it came with Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, so you can download the ISO from tutorial link given above and make bootable USB - which can be booted from and clean install done.
Additional drivers can be downloaded, copied to another usb and later on installed to system after clean install.

I have tried to create my recovery discs on my new L300 laptop. Whilst creating the disc i get the following error:

  • Are Recovery Discs bootable? - Satellite A300

    Hi,
I'm having some issues making the Recovery Disc (see http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=38328&tstart=0 ), but as the main file burned to the discs is a 1+ GB *".exe"* one, I am starting to wonder if the discs are really expected to be bootable... after all you'd +usually+ require a windows envionment to execute such a file.
Or maybe the files required to "run" that .exe are supposed to be in the bootable part of the disc?
    Thanks in advance.

Fedora DVD burned in the laptop booted just fine.
These are the contents of the Recovery Disc the system is creating

  • I can't finde the recovery disc from my Satellite A100-163

My A100 will not load - can't find the recovery disc. Can I use my A60 recovery disc on my A100 - 163 laptop?

Sorry, but you cant use the recovery disk from the A60. It will not work.
You can order a new recovery disk from Toshiba:
    https://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/
Or you go to an ASP (authorized service provider) to get a new one:
    http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com => Support & Downloads => Find an ASP
You can also use an original Microsoft disk, but there you must install all drivers manual and this takes a lot of time.

  • Recovery disc wont start - Satellite L10

Trying to use the recovery disc on my L10. The manual says to put the disc in and start the computer while downpressing "C"...nothing happends and when i release "C" it goes into normal windows mode...Anyone ?

    Hi
By pressing the C button the unit should automatically boot from the CD/DVD drive. But if doesnt work so you can try to change the BIOS booting order (CD drive at the first place).
Put the Recovery CD into the drive and start the unit again

  • Can I use a recovery disc of a differnt serial number in my laptop?

I had a issue with the recovery disc which I got from HP, the first disc stops at 24% and further it does nothing. So I have ordered another recovery disc, when I ordered by mistake I have entered my product number correctly but entered serial number (wrong#) 2CXXXXXXRE instead of (correct #) 2CXXXXXXRF and booked the recovery disc. I dont have an option to cancel the order in the site. So can I use this recovery DVD to recover my laptop?
    Laptop Model: HP Pavilion dv6
    Current OS: Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit + SP1
    Recovery OS: Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit + SP1

You will have to contact HP to get an answer on that question.
We are owners of HP printers, PCs and notebooks just like yourself.

  • Recovery disc download for Toshiba NP250-108

    Hello All
I have a NB250 and have forgotten the password, I cannot get into safe mode there is not admin and I don't have a recovery disk for it. I have been messed about with cracks and software bit nothing works. Can you download a recovery disk or can I use a disk from another laptop to recover my notepad.
    pit

    >Can you download a recovery disk or can I use a disk from another laptop to recover my notepad.
Generally speaking yes, you can do this but you need to use recovery image for 100% identical machine with the same part number.
With other words both machines must have 100% identical hardware inside.
Other way, you must order original recovery installation disc or install own OS version (Microsoft installation disc.

  • Recovery disc for Equium M70 needed

I have tried to recover my Equium M70-337 using the product recovery cd that was shipped with it, but this is corrupt and I now have a blank laptop.
Where can I get a new recovery disc from? The laptop is too old for me to be able to order one from Toshiba.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

This notebook model is too old and you will probably not be able to order new recovery disc.
What you can try is to contact nearest Toshiba service and ask if they have one that can borrow you for testing purposes.
You can also use Microsoft WXP installation disc for OS installation. All necessary drivers you can find on Toshiba download page so you don't need recovery disc.
If you need some help about it let me know.
