Laptop has a Black screen 2 flashes at the caps key, tried all the suggestions on the forum nothing is working.
Sadly I dont have a recovery disc.
help needed please, where can I get one are they readily in stock?
    Thank you

    Hi there:
You can try Recovery using the built in Recovery partition present in HDD unless you've formatted or upgraded your laptop:
    http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01867418
The only other option left is to CLEAN INSTALL Windows 7 if your laptop came with Windows 7 pre installed & you can CLEARLY & LEGIBLY read all the 25 characters of product activation key printed in COA sticker on the back of the laptop:
    http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/219487-clean-reinstall-factory-oem-windows-7-a.html
    http://www.w7forums.com/threads/official-windows-7-sp1-iso-image-downloads.12325/
    From your specs: http://support.hp.com/gb-en/product/HP-G56-100-Notebook-PC-series/4247525/model/4315390/document/c02...
I could understand that it came with Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, so you can download the ISO from tutorial link given above and make bootable USB - which can be booted from and clean install done.
Additional drivers can be downloaded, copied to another usb and later on installed to system after clean install.

  • I need a new recovery disc for my MacBook help ASAP!!!

I need a new recovery disc for my MacBook so I can format and re-install the default operating system. I have lost the original recovery disc that came with my MacBook years ago. Can anybody tell me how and where I can order one from?
Also, I do have the original recorvery disc that came with my MacBook Pro, could I not just use this or would it not be compatible?
    Help ASAP please...
    Thank you!

For a fee, you could likely order a replacement install-restore DVD for your MacBook. To get the correct disc(s) and match the hardware to the system, you need to know and have the serial number of the product handy, and be able to answer some basic questions; and have a form of payment, such as credit card.
Call the Apple Store online (main US number, 1-800-MY-APPLE) or the main Apple Support number for US, 1-800-275-2273.
Or if you're in another country, you could try calling a Local in-country support number and ask, since they may have to redirect your call to another associate. See link below for Support phone numbers.
An operating systems specialist or other qualified person will be able to try & help obtain the correct disc or disc set; if the computer original gray-label set is no longer available, they may be able to check their extensive database against your product serial number to see if they may have another full install disc that can work.
This other option, if it happens, based on your MacBook serial number and build model identifier, could be slightly newer than the OS X version shipped with the MacBook, and not be gray-labeled.
A replacement install disc in retail version would not include any original MacBook applications, while a gray-label disc set should have most of them as part of a multiple DVD set, if available.

  • Need help on recovery discs

I have a Pavilion dv6-1360us and recently had to install a new hdd due to the old one failing. i ordered the recovery disc from hp and went to install it. when it asked for the second disc it wouldnt load. this is for windows 7 64bit. Now all it does when i turn it on is show the windpows is loading files screen. then the starting windows screen. from there it shows a grey screen and u can hear the cdrom drive reading the disc but it just goes back to the begin with the windows loading files screen. Any information would be awesome. thanks!

Can you read the 25 character Microsoft Windows 7 license key attached to bottom of laptop? If so you can download Windows 7 ISO files to burn to a DVD for the version of windows that came installed on your PC, and  listed on the Microsoft COA sticker.
You can use the Microsoft .iso to USB/DVD tool to create a bootable DVD or USB (requires a blank DVD or USB flash
Use the 25 character product key on the PC to activate the installation.
Then go to your  support and driver page to install the drivers you need.
Link to the W7 ISO file downloads is below.

  • HELP!! Making a copy of my RECOVERY DISCS...HELP!!

Hi and thanks for taking the time to help
Well, here is my scenario.  My friend and I both bought the same Toshiba Satellite L305D-S5893.  And of course they both brought recovery discs.
Anyhow, to make a long story short my recovery discs were thrown away by mistake.  And my question is how can I make a copy of his discs in case I need them in the future?
I want to replicate them so that if my system crashes I can use the copies and not have to bother him and plus that way if he looses his or I loose mine we'll have a back-up.
    Thanks for your help!
    Felix H.

Try running the Toshiba Recovery Disk Creator and make a set from your own system.
Go to "Start - All Programs - Toshiba - Recovery - Recovery Disk Creator".  Information about this normally begins about page 58 to 60 of your User's Guide for information on using the Hard Drive Based Recovery Process and creating the disks.  The User's Guide is found on your hard drive in Adobe Acrobat Format and can be downloaded from the Product Support Link at the top of this page.

  • Help: Lenovo N500 will not start, product recovery disc won't run

Hi. I am a bit of a laptop dunce so excuse me. My Lenovo N500 has been shutting itself down and not always restarting and the last time I tried a reinstall through the on board system but after a day and a half it was stuck and not changing so I turned it off. Clearly a mistake.
Now when I try to turn it on I get a black screen
    File:\Boot\NCR
    Status 0xc000000f
Info An error occurred while attempting to read the boot configuration data
It says to insert Windows installation disc and restart but that just circles back to same screen. I have tried the 2 supplied disks. One called "product recovery CD for lenovo N500 Type 4233" (which is the right one I think) and one called "Rescue and recovery disc for use with Microsoft Windows XP" (pretty sure I have Vista and this disc was supplied for people who wanted to get back to XP.
I have tried pressing F8 and F11 to no avail (makes a nasty loud hissing sound).
    Any ideas?

    hi Cj75,
Can you try if the computer have the WinRE Active
Keep on tapping the F8 key once you power on the system. Then select the Repair your computer option from the boot menu that appears.
    WinRE photo (http://media.bestofmicro.com/win,B-8-177956-13.jpg)
If You were able to boot to WinRE
    >In the System Recovery Options dialog box, Try running system restore first to a known good Date where your system state was fine.
    If system restore fails.
    >Try to do this to manually rebuild the BCD
In the System Recovery Options dialog box, click Command Prompt.
Type BOOTREC /FIXMBR, and then press ENTER.
Type BOOTREC /FIXBOOT, and then press ENTER.
Type BOOTREC /REBUILDBCD, and then press ENTER.
If this still failed I believe you really have to Reinstall Windows on this

I purchased a HP Pavilion dv6000 notebook about 7 or 8 years ago, and it recently crashed on me. I seem to have lost my recovery and drivers disc and now, I need help acquiring another recovery disc.
The model of my notebook is:

    Windows XP
    s/n: {Removed for privacy}
    p/n: RG253UA#ABA
I need a recovery disc with the OS and drivers for my notebook. I am aware I will probably have to pay for one. Any help out there? Thanks in advance forum!

    Hi:
You have a HP Pavilion dv6105us Notebook PC.
You can try calling HP at one of these 2 numbers to see if you can get a set of recovery disks from them.
    800-474-6836 or 888-999-4747.
If you can't get them from HP anymore, you can get them from this 3rd party vendor for $27 + shipping.

  • Help Please! Dumb Mistake. Made No Recovery Disc

I have a Toshiba Satellite A355D-S6922 and unfortunately did not ccreate a recovery disc.  I purchased the laptop in 2008 or 2009 and this morning it would not start. I repeatedly got a message that the problem could not be repaired automatically.  I guess I made a dumb move and went straight to restoring/recovery. I got passed the red and black warning screen. I chose Restore to Default Factory Software and after that option I tried the other 2-3 options available, seperate times and I keep getting the same error message: 10-FC12-045D.
Do I have to send it back to have it fixed? Would a local Toshiba repair shop have the discs available? Or can I order a recovery disc for my model? I have access to another Toashiba Satellite L555 - could I create a recovery disc from that other computer and use it on mines? could there be a bigger problem with my computer?
please help. I need this resolved as soon as possible. Unemployed and have to do job searches all day.
    thank you so much.

I'm going through the same problems with different error message.   My was working almost fine UNTIL I ran Toshiba Recovery discs and lost the whole system.   Search the related forum posts for other options    I have a A355 series as well.   Try some local computer repair guys first if you are past warrenty and see if any of them  have recovery discs..   Cheaper and faster.  Judging from the posts Toshiba is about useless for support.  Have you tried  pressing and keeping down the  Zero key while powering up yet.  That worked for me a while back.  Good luck.

There was some issue with the hard disk of the notebook, which has now been changed at a service centre and during the servicing, I was informed that the Hp India Customer care will provide me with the recovery disc. The drivers and all need to be installed for which recovery disc is required.  Now the customer support in India is not providing the recovery disc and they say it needs to be ordered from the country of Laptop purchase. The laptop is in warranty. Please help.

  • HELP: Recovery Discs questions

hello, i visited the a Best Buy branch today and was hoping to buy 2 laptops. I was speaking with a sales associate when he mentioned I'd need to buy a recovery discs to bring my system to its factory settings in the future if I wanted to. He said it was for $59.
    My questions:
What is the recovery CD for? Say, if I don't purchase the CD, and then my PC crashes because of a virus and I want to reinstall Windows 7, I won't be able to without this CD? Would this mean that I'd have to buy a new microsoft windows 7 to install Windows again? Would I be able to buy one CD for both computers?
Sorry, I'm not that good with computers and hope someone could help.
    Thank you.

This is true onebadatitude, for some cases.  Mainly when you are looking at upgrading your HDD, or if you suspect the HDD may be going out and is still operable.  But if the drive is no longer operable and has to be replaced, or the OS is corrupted, or some virus has taken over the OS, then MigrateEasy won't quite cut it.  You should always have a set of recovery discs for your computer.  You can order them from the manufacturer (which most people won't do), or you can make them yourself if you know how (it's easy, but many people don't know how), or you can have Geek Squad burn them for you.
Whichever method you choose, make sure to get a set of those Recovery Discs.  Odds are you'll never need them, but I wear my seatbelt even though I don't expect to be in a car crash.
I DO NOT work for Best Buy. I used to be a Geek Squad Agent for 2 years and this is why I am well versed on their policies and procedures, but I do not work for them anymore. My posts are my own opinions and do not represent any opinions of Best Buy. If you do not like my posts, and want to report me, you can do so by clicking this link and reporting me to the moderators.

  • HELP!!!!!! Need to create recovery disc for hdx laptop in Vista

I have been told by HP that I can create a recovery disc right from my computer.  Really ...... please someone tell me where and how.  Right now there is nothing wrong with my PC but I have been stupid and forgot to create it previously.
As an added note, so I can vent, my service pak ran out last month, which HP did not remind me of with an email like they alwasy do, and the guy I spoke to was no help with that.  He said there was nothing I could purchase now.  Also, I was told by more than one person that I had lifetime chat support online ...... well that's a lie too I found out.  So, they will not help me at all now!!!!!!!!!  The guy also told me the reason I did not probably get an email was becasue the support for this laptop ended in August and it will become obsolete this coming August.  That is probably the reason he said.  Wow why did I buy a HP computer and not a Dell.  When I had my Dell I called like more than 10 years after buying the computer and received phone based technical help on it still and no I did not have an extended warranty at the time.  They gave lifetime technical assistant via phone.  Looks like I may have to switch back.  Sorry HP but my experience has been less than good.

This document should help with the how to part of making the recovery disks.
I have raised your post to the appropriate team for review. Someone should contact you via private message within two days.

Are you able to start in Recovery mode ?.   OS X: About OS X Recovery
If so, then after the language choice screen, click Utilities at the top of the screen & choose Terminal.
Once Terminal opens, type resetpassword  then press the enter key.
Choose your user from the list & follow the prompts to create a new password. Then restart the computer normally.
This won't allow you to update app store apps which the previous owner bought, but will let you install new software.
Ideally, you'd erase the HD & reinstall OS X yourself : you may be able to do that from Internet Recovery, but may need original install DVDs,
which Apple will usually supply for a small charge, if you call them with the serial number.

  • Help Needed! Getting the files off the recovery disc and onto the computer. How?!?

Okay, I shut down my computer a few hours ago like normal and I restarted it again when I wanted to go on it which was later this evening. A screen popped up that said press enter to continue and a bunch of code, so I did just pressed 'Enter' like it asked. Then another screen came up that said,  "Your computer could not start up, we are finding and fixing the problems, ect ect." And then there was a percentage at the bottom of how much was completed.
So after it was finished, my computer started to totally restart, like I just bought the computer. It had me remake everything. And when it was all done EVERYTHING except for the programs that came with the computer where gone. I noticed a recovery disc and how it was almost full, and it said it has all my programs on it and to not delete it. Well okay if it has all my programs....
How in the world do I get everything from the recovery disc back onto my computer?
Please comment on any information that can help!

The recovery partition on the hard drive does not have your programs/files. It holds the files to reinstall Windows and all original software/drivers that came on the laptop. In other words, it does exactly what just occurred.

  • Recovery disc(s) for Satellite A135-2266 - help? for laptop donation to kenya orphanage

    Hi,
I am hoping someone can help me here, or maybe tell me how to do this myself? I have a Satellite A135-2266 that needs to have the HD replaced. This computer, if I can get the recovery discs, will be donated to an orphanage in Kenya that our church supports.  I will replace the HD myself, but I need the recovery discs (this was my son's laptop - he's in the navy and it died on him after only 6 mos, but he was not able to get it to land in time for warranty - and now he cannot locate the recovery disc.  This is my plea for help. If anyone has recovery discs for this model, is there any chance they could copy them for me - I'd pay for the discs and shipping, so that I can fix it and get it to the orphanage?  HELP? if anyone has any other suggestions, I'm all ears.  I will be calling Toshiba to see if they can help me out, but I have faith in the users here to maybe be my salvation.
    Many thanks!

"DVD recovery media can be ordered from Toshiba Customer Service at 1-800-457-7777.  There is no charge for the software itself, and as of 11/30/09 the shipping and handling charges for delivery of recovery media in the US is $24.95." Quote from Jim.

  • Recovery disc starts then stalls?? Please help. satellite L305-S5865

I have a satellite L305-S5865 that has never had a visrus or been misused. It has just been driving me crazy beacause every time I restart it I have a 50/50 chance of having to roll back my sound drivers. So I decided to buy the recovery disc to restore to out of box and what do you know,
it freezes after about the first 20 mins. I have left it like this for hours. To test this and it is the same, no matter how long I let it set. Waste of $30? At this point I think so. On top of the $ I spent on the laptop and the other laptop I bought that is satellight that overheats so bad it can burn your legs.
Will take to real computer tech and have fixed.
    Help, ideas welcome.
    Money back?
    We will see come Monday.

Have you tried just starting the recovery procedure again?
