Recovery disk Creator & data partition won't work - Satellite L300

My niece asked me to re-install her Toshiba Satellite L300 laptop, because the windows installation is rather buggy. She didn't have a recovery disk. Using Toshiba's Recovery Disk Creator I tried creating a recovery disk.
However, the program wouldn't start. Checking the directory of the program, it would seem that the program simply isn't there. Afterwards, I checked the data partition of the laptop.
There was a map with HDD recovery. However when using Windows' advanced boot (F8 before Windows startup) there was no choice of repairing the notebook. They only choices were the standard windows options (Save mode, normal start, etc.).
In short, it seems impossible to re-install the notebook with the current information at hand.
What would be the next course of action? Is it possible to order a recovery CD from Toshiba?
Another niece has the same notebook, would it be possible to use that notebook to create a recovery disk?
I'll appreciate and look forward to your reactions.

Hi
It looks like something has been changed on the HDD
However, fact is youve no Recovery disk and you cannot use HDD recovery option.
This means you need to order a new Recovery disk from Toshiba.
You can do this here:

PS: one tip if you would use a search option of this forum, you would find the right answer too ;)

  • Satellite A300-1G5: Recovery Disk Creator doesnt work anymore

I have created my recovery disk after buying new Toshiba A300-1G5 model laptop. That recovery disk is damaged now.
I have tried to make 2nd set of recovery disk, but the application is not working.
error message comming "---- orisetenv/setenv.ini file missing.
Please anybody help how to resume the application's (Recovery Disk Creator) functionality?
Another question--- does not Toshiba have a online help facility apart from this forum? Forum is from user, can't we (Toshiba Users) get online help from Toshiba technical team directly?
If yes please send me the route to reach.

I also have a problem with the L500 Toshiba disk creation software.
I initially installed the 32 bit version of Windows 7. I created recovery disks. I then restored the 64 bit version of windows 7 from the partition.
Somehow I managed to break the Toshiba disk creation software: it starts, opens, lets me choose what option I would like, then the screen disappears and it seems like another screen will appear, but it doesnt. It is like a process tries to fire and then just gives up and dies. The same thing occurs when starting the Disk recovery creator.
So I re-restored the 64 bit version of W7 to see if that would fix my Toshiba Disk Creator disappearing after the first screen. And yes, that did fix the problem - until I opened the DVD drive drawer whilst the software tried to access the drive. Stupid, but true. So then I was back to square one.
So now I know how to re-create the error - by opening the DVD drive drawer mid-process, but I am not sure whether I feel like taking 3 hours to restore and re-install all my software to have this happen again.
I tried to uninstall (worked) and re-install (worked) the disk creation software (tc00091600g.exe) which seemed to work successfully, but nothing changed - the same problem persists.
It is as if not everything was uninstalled or there is some kind of corruption of a program or process not ending/starting when it should.
If I knew a re-restore would solve the problem permanantly, I would re-do it, but it seems there is something wrong with the software that cannot detect an open drive and cancel the current operation without corrupting the system.
I can read DVDs and CDs on the drive and will now try to install other software to burn disks, but my gripe is that I can no longer create restore disks.
If anybody has any quick fixes or suggestions, that would be appreciated. I feel like it is only a minor issue and would only take a slight tweak to fix it, but I just dont know what that is.

  • Recovery Disk Creator (Express Media Player)

    Hello,
This is my first visit to these forums.  I bought my Toshiba Satellite A105-S4284 laptop back in November 2006 from CompUSA.  Recently, I had to take my laptop to a local repair shop because I updated McAfee and the desktop froze-  this is just some previous info, this problem is fixed.  They just backed up my data, then reinstalled the operating system.
I'm trying to create a recovery disk using the pre-install software that came with the laptop.  It is called "Recovery Disk Creator (Express Media Player)".  I used this in the past many times before I had the problem explained above, but this is the first time I am using it since I pick my laptop up from the repair shop.  I get the following error message when I double click on the shortcut icon on the desktop: "Recovery Disc Creator-  No compatible Recordable or Rewritable devices could be found on your system."  Also, when I use Nero 9 Nero Express I just get failed attempts and the DVD/CD ejects.  Both of these worked fine before.
    My specs:
    Toshiba Satellite A105-S4284
Intel Centrino Duo T 2050 1.6 GHz, 1 GB RAM
Windows XP Media Center Edition Service Pack 2   (both worked before with SP2)
    Thank you

If you have used this in the past to create the disks just use one of the previous disks to restore the system.  The disk you made previously would be exactly the same as you would create now.

  • HDD recovery issues and recovery disk creator issues

    Hello there,
I have been trying for the life of me to use the HDD on my Satellite A205-S5804 lap top.It came preinstalled with vista
To no avail once selected it just starts the pc and never goes to the options. I have also tried to download the software needed to create my own and restore my pc to factory. Am I only left to purchase the recovery disks needed to restore my pc to factory condition.
I have also tried running as admin to make these changes and it keeps telling me to enter admin password that I never created.
Is there a download available to restore the HDD function or to complete the download so I can use the Hard drive recovery disk creator..
    Help please.
    Mary

Ohh, Im sorry miss..I do apologize..
So, you're saying that you were able to do the recovery without the discs before??
Did you do the recovery or did you do a system restore??
If you really did the recovery and it is not allowing you to continue, try doing this one..
Turn OFF the laptop, unplug the charger then remove the battery.
    Put them back together..
Turn ON the laptop, just as you press the power button, start tapping F2 keeps on tapping it until you see the BIOS set up utility screen. Hit F9 to load the BIOS to its default then choose yes. Hit F10 to save and exit then choose yes.
Wait for the laptop to boot then try doing the recovery again if it will not boot up.
If the recovery will not work, possible problem with the HDD since the recovery partition is saved on the HDD.

  • Recovery Disks sent by Toshiba do not work.

So about two months ago my hard drive started failing, and my Winsdows 7 partition stopped working. So I ordered Toshiba Recovery Discs using my serial and part number given on the bottom of my computer. When I follow the instructions that came with the discs (hold "C" until the Toshiba logo is shown then release) I get a message saying "No Bootable Decive Recognized". So I tried pressing F12 and booting from the CD drive, and same message. Well I got a new hard drive, thinking maybe it was the failure of the old one. But it has the same exact error message. When I researched further I read same reports but those people ordered a new set and it worked fine. So I did that but to no avail, same exact error. I recently booted into a Linux OS system and the discs aren't even recognized, while every other disc I put in is recognized. I'm not sure if they keep sending me faulty discs or the problem is on my end, but I would appreciate any feedback.
    I use a Toshiba Satellite L650D
Windows 7 64 Bit Home Edition.
I also have a Windows Repair disc which actually gets me into Startup Repair.

  • How to install Vista off Recovery disk without setting partitions?

    Hi,
I have my recovery disk and I installed a new 320gb HHD.
When I installed the recovery disk, it re done the partitions 160gb in each (2 partitions plus 1 recovery partition)...
But I want to dual boot with XP pro due to software issues and I prefer it sometimes...
    I have redone my partitions, 1st- 51gb for XP pro(32bit), 2nd- 51gb for vista(32gb) and the 3rd- 210gb is for storage
How do I install with Toshiba vista O/S and stuff that comes with it on the recovery disk, just on to the 2nd partition without touching how I have set the hard drive up....
I already have about 100gb of pics, music and cam vids on the storage, with nowhere to put them so I cant risk them as some are only copies (so it might be a good idea to let me know how do I back up whats on my storage partition to DVD's please)
If I cant, then can some1 please tell me how I get my OEM Toshiba vista off this recovery disk or link one to me?
Hope all this makes sense lol... thanks
    Shane

If you have so many important material best back up is to buy external HDD and copy all this stuff there. I recommend you to buy small 2,5 external HDD and when necessary you can take it with you and connect to any computer if you want to show or copy this file. External HDDs can be connected to other computers with delivered USB cable.
    Back to your partitions.
When you use original Toshiba recovery installations DVD you will have 3 partitions.
-WinRE partition and it belongs to Vista OS. This partition is not visible and this is not a kind of Toshiba recovery partition
    -partition C for Vista
-partition D/or/E for DATA. On this partition is saved recovery image in folder called HDDRecovery
I don't know which notebook model do you have but this configuration is on all new Toshiba notebooks delivered WITHOUT recovery media.
Using Toshiba recovery media you will be able to get exact mentioned partitions structure. Using recovery installations media you WILL NOT be able to install Vista on second partition.
So if you want to have dual boot with WXP you can do follow:
-At first you will install Vista with recovery media and on second partition you will install your WXP version
-At first you will install WXP and then you can install Vista on second partition but you must use Microsoft installations disc. Recovery media cannot be used.
That's all I can say from my experience with this stuff.

  • Downloading the recovery disk creator

Laptop hard drive died, well the first two partitions are corrupted, tons of bad sectors. I was able to backup the recovery partition which I wanted to copy to the replacement drive. How can I create recovery disks now with just the recovery partition? Is there a place to download the disk creator?

Recovery disks will restore the hard disk to its original out-of-the-box contents shown in the spec above.

  • Creating Recovery Disks when Windows 7 won't Boot

My sister's hard drive is in imminent failure on HP G60-535DX Notebook. Windows 7 won't boot. I need to make recovery disks. I have been able to back up info going into System Recovery Manager, but I don't see an option to create recovery disks to install the system on a replacement hard drive. Is it possible to create the disks or order them?

  • Satellite A300 - I can't find the recovery disk creator

    Hi everybody!
Need some help with my Satellite A300. I lost the optical recovery disc I burned when the laptop was new. Now when I'm trying to burn a new recovery disc I can't find the Recovery Disc Creator - not on the desktop or in the Start meny. I still have the folder with all the recovery files left - a folder named HDDRecovery with size 4.5 GB. The problem is to find out how to burn the disc.
    Can anyone help?
    //iMate, Sweden

    Hello
F8 will works just if you didnt change anything with first partition and if you still use factory settings.
"Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator" cannot be gone for no reason. Either you have removed it from the system or you have installed own Vista OS.
I don't want to speculate why you cannot use F8 anymore but fact is that for new Vista installation you need recovery DVD.
You can order one under https://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/landing.aspx

  • Re: Satellite L500 - Error appears if I start recovery disk creator

Hi all, just tried to launch recovery media creator on the Toshiba board and the following ERROR CODE: 0d00f6-49-00000015 appears.
This goes after a few clicks on the mouse and the program starts.
Any ideas how to mend this?
Operating system is Windows 7 64bit my new shinny laptop.
    any help would be great.

Do you use this tool for the first time?
This tool will work with factory settings only and nothing should be changed (preinstalled tools or partitions structure).
I am 100% sure it will work properly if you make recovery installations again. The principle how it works is the same on all new Toshiba notebooks and if this works on my brand new Satellite P500-127 and I don't see any reason why it should not works on your Satellite L500. At first start up I have installed Win7 64bit and later successfully created recovery DVDs.
As I wrote before, if possible install OS again using HDD recovery procedure as described in http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/HTD9102IR0000R01.htm
When installation is finished and you start OS for the first time start "Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator".
