Recovery Disk needed for HP Touchsmart 1150

The link for ordering recovery Discs was there just a few weeks ago when I was broke.  Now it's not there and when  I call I continuously get routed to Gupta in India who tells me in broken english that it's not available and that because my PC was built in 2010 that they no longer "Support it" and the parts I need to fix it (Recovery Disks) are no longer available. This is entirely ludicrous.    I hate HP for tricking me into spending money on their products and then they just drop you after the product has exceeded the life they determine is acceptable.  I will never buy HP again.

I agree that there are no recovery disks for that model, and there aren't any from any other vendor.
However, you can make your own plain Windows installation disk and use the W7 product key on your PC to activate the installation.
Here is the link to download windows 7 home premium 64 bit ISO file.  Download the one from the SP1 Media Refresh section.
http://forums.mydigitallife.info/threads/14709-Windows-7-Digital-River-direct-links-Multiple-Languag...
Then use this tool to transfer the ISO file to a DVD or 4 GB usb flash drive.

After you install W7, install the drivers you need from your PC's support and driver page.

  • Is Recovery Disk Needed for Early 2011 MacBook Pro (A1278)

    Early 2011 MacBook Pro (A1278)
I'm planning on putting in a new hard-drive (SSD) after a little scare with my factory hard-drive and the mounting bracket coming loose.
The plan was to open it up, install the hard drive, restart with Command-R held down, enter OS X Recovery, and finally restore from my Time Machine back-up.
However... I've heard that my model may not have the ability to enter OS X Recovery without a DVD that was shipped with the hardware. First, is this true? When I had issues with the current hard drive, I was able to use Command-R to enter OS X Recovery. It even appeared to have me connect to the internet and looked like it downloaded the application. Does that indicate that I should be able to do that again? Or did that get pulled from the hard-drive somehow? Second, if I need a disk - I did NOT get a disk from Apple when I purchased my device from the store. I do NOT throw things away (I have all the little inserts and everything still in the box, even the receipt). Can I obtain this disk from Apple for free?

The Early 2011 MacBook Pro supports 16 GB of RAM, although Apple says it only supports 8 GB of RAM.
You can buy more RAM at OWC or Crucial > http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/memory/Apple_MacBook_MacBook_Pro/Upgrade/DDR3_133 3MHz_SDRAM You can find memory compatible with Macs in other sites, but I recommend those two sites because you can be sure that the RAM will be compatible.

So I used Window 7 I bought for my other laptop to restore my computer and now I have an issue with not having a valid key for my laptop.... I called Microsoft tech support and they told me to delete Window 7 from my laptop...
I take online classes and travel a lot due to my work. My laptop is my lifeline... Apparently no one at Toshiba or Microsoft give a crap about it... I being told to sit on my bottom with my thumb up you know where... Apparently this does not also qualify for me to take my laptop to authorize repair center... go figure...
If Toshiba have written code to give an option to restore to factory default under system restore like HP Laptops I would have never be in this predicament...
    PS.... I have 3 months old A505-36992
They do have an onboard recovery system similar to HP's.  If you had taken the time to read your User's Guide that came on your hard drive in Adobe Acrobat Format you would have known how to make your recovery disks as well as how to run the recovery process directly from the hard drive. All of that information begins on page 60.   Once you used the other Windows 7 disk to install Windows you lost the ability to do so.  Since you failed to do so the problem you are currently experiencing is self inflicted.
You can try downloading a Win 7 ISO from here and see if it will allow you ro use your product key from the bottom of the laptop.  It has worked for several people, but I don'g guarantee it.
If you don't post your COMPLETE model number it's very difficult to assist you. Please try to post in complete sentences with punctuation, capitals, and correct spelling. Toshiba does NOT provide any direct support in these forums. All support is User to User in their spare time.

  • Purchased recovery disk Vista for Satellite A205S4607 install freezes after files are copied

I purchased the recovery disks for Vista for Satellite A205S4607.  I had XP professional installed, but I could not find the drivers needed so I decided just to buy the disks.
I insert the disk, hold down C as it is booting.  The cd runs, and copies over the files, but once it gets to the status bar, the install freezes.  I let it "run" all night and it never came to an install screen.
    Any suggestions?

It sounds like it's likely a hardware failure in the laptop itself. Were you having problems previously?

    Hi,
Shutdown the notebook.  Tap away at f10 as you start the notebook to enter the bios menu.  Under the Advanced or Diagnostic tab you should find the facility to run tests on both the Hard Drive and Memory.  Post back with the details of any error messages.

  • Equium L10-300 recovery disk needed

ive had my laptop for 5mnths and i need to recover my toshiba laptop but the dealer, pc world in UK, i bought it from gave me a copy of the recovery disk and not the original but nothing is on it. so how can i download or obtain a Toshiba L10-300 recovery disk. or should i use my Windows Xp home edition disk and then install the necessary driver from Toshiba tools and utilities disk? please help or email me on [email protected]

    Hello Mo,
Yes you can install Windows XP HE or Pro and then download all the drivers from Toshiba. But the place you bought the Computer from is supposed to furnish the Recovery CD's that came with the machine. If you go back and ask them they should be more then happy to oblige your request, since after all it is not your fault you do not have the CD's. Either way, for now if you want you could install windows normally and download the drivers, and wait for your recovery CD from the store, or you can go to the store, request your Recovery CD, and install it that way once they give you the CD's. Hope this clears up your problems.

  • Recovery help needed for Equium A300D-13X

    Hi all,
After experiencing too many problems to list with my Equium A 300D 13X, both hardware and software, I decided to go ahead with a complete restoration to factory settings.
My first step was to create 2 dvd recovery discs, using the Toshiba recovery disc creator.
As far as I can tell, both recovery disc's were successfully created, insofar as the recovery disc creator said as such.
Not knowing what step to take next, I started the laptop with the fist of the two recovery disc within the disc drive, thinking this would reset the laptop to it's factory settings, however it did not.
    Now when I start up the laptop I get the following message;
    BOOTMGR is missing
    Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart
which restarts the laptop again displaying the above message.
Pressing F8 on start up does nothing.
    Pressing F12, multi boot selection, brings up a Boot Menu with 3 options;
    HDD1: TOSHIBA MK2046GSX-(S1)
    CD/DVD: MAT****ADVD-RAM UJ-850S-(PM)
    LAN: Marvell Yukon 88E8040T
    If I select the CD/DVD option, a black screen with the text ;
    Windows is loading files
is shown. I'am guessing this is the correct path to recovery,
however after the following recovery utility screens regarding language selection etc, a text filled dialogue box
    X:\windows\systems32\cmd.exe
runs through, but ultimately becomes static at the line:
    Copying F:\06948XSP.swm to V:\HDDRecovery\SWImg 1/6
without successfully finishing the recovery process.
Any help in resolving this problem would be greatly appreciated.
    Kind regards,
    Kev.

What to say buddy you have done everything correctly.
The recover disk has been created successfully (did you see a message saying this??).
Booting from recovery disk should start the recovery procedure and you should follow the installation on the screen.
    Usually this should function.
The error; BOOTMGR is missing says that boot manager on HDD has been deleted and its not possible to boot from HDD.
You should boot from CD as you did; pressing F12 choosing CD/DVD drive
Try to format the HDD again using another Windows CD.
In such case you will need to set SATA mode to compatible in BIOS and then you could boot from WinXP CD.
After that try the recovery disk again

  • Recovery disk assistant for Maverick

I installed Maverick without a hitch.  I have Time Machine working.  I want to create a Recovery Disk on a USB.  I had previously done this under Mountain Lion using the Recovery Disk Assistant.  When I open this program to create a new Recovery Disk (for Maverick) the program says
"The Recovery Disk Assistant creates a disk that you can use to recover your Mac OSX Lion system".
Since I no longer have OS X Lion, will this program still work?
    Thanks

  • My z60m needs your help! Please anyone? (Recovery disks needed)

I accidentally modified my MBR with a Ubuntu Karmic Koala install.  It changed the MBR and now the R&R partition will not restore to factory defaults.  Thinkpad told me the only solution is to run the recovery disks.
I did not make these, and now I am suffering.  Please, someone with their thinkpad winXP image on their z60m can you help?  It is possible to make recovery CDs inside the thinkpad tools on windows xp.  Could someone please make them and ship them to me?  (If you have some, can you loan them to me?)  I can pay you for your time and effort.  I have paypal and can pay for shipping, discs, time, etc... Please just name your price.

  • Windows wont start, Recovery Disk asking for another disk, only can with 2

My son was surfing the web when IE stopped responding.  Window would not close so he held the power button until the laptop shut off.  When he tried to start laptop again, could only get as far as the windows loading bar, but it would not load.  After unsuccessfully trying a StartUp Repair we used the Recovery & Application Disk, holding down the C. After it appeared to run succesfully we got a boot manager missing error.  So we tried the Recovery Disk again.  Now it just continues to ask for additional disk but the Recovery Disk set is only two disk set.  This is a L305-s5875 Satellite that we have had for about 11 months.  If anyone has any suggestions we would greatly appreciate it.

Try cleaning disk with alcohol, with soft tissue paper. That is what i did to get disk to work.
Also try and hit start and F12 and then change boot menue to Cd/Dvd insted of hardrive
and then hold down c or try without holding down ckey.As a last try start cimputer and hold
gown the statr buton and 0 (ie zero)  together for 1 min and see what happens.

  • One recovery disk needed?

Just curious.  I made two sets of recovery media on my new S70-A out of the box and each set took four disks.  I decided to start over and do a recovery of my Win 7 pro and it went fine, I think.  Thing is, it only used one disk and never propted me for #2 disk

"Hi!  I decided to start over and do a recovery of my Win 7 pro and it went fine, I think.  Thing is, it only used one disk and never propted me for #2 disk"
I doubt very seriously if it worked, but maybe that's all it needed if the OS was in tact and working. I really don't know??

There should have been one with the initial puchase time period.  You also have the ability to make recovery disc by using Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator or use ww.toshiba.com customer rep and order the discs, or call(800) 457-7777.  Another consideration on boot is to press '0' several times to enter a repair aspect.  Also, insure you have a quality virus protection on for future reference.

    Hi there:
You can try Recovery using the built in Recovery partition present in HDD unless you've formatted or upgraded your laptop:
    http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01867418
The only other option left is to CLEAN INSTALL Windows 7 if your laptop came with Windows 7 pre installed & you can CLEARLY & LEGIBLY read all the 25 characters of product activation key printed in COA sticker on the back of the laptop:
    http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/219487-clean-reinstall-factory-oem-windows-7-a.html

    From your specs: http://support.hp.com/gb-en/product/HP-G56-100-Notebook-PC-series/4247525/model/4315390/document/c02...
I could understand that it came with Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, so you can download the ISO from tutorial link given above and make bootable USB - which can be booted from and clean install done.
Additional drivers can be downloaded, copied to another usb and later on installed to system after clean install.

  • Recovery Disks / Drive for HP 15 / Windows 10

Hi folks. Recently purchased the very basic HP 15 Laptop.  Just upgraded to Windows 10 and now wish to create a recovery flash drive. During recovery creation will Windows 10 be included or the factory build Windows 8.1?  I believe when I was researching creating the recovery drive, one article I read stated to not exceed a 16gb flash drive. Or that might have been for creating a backup for Windows 10. Either way, why is that? Thank you.
