Recovery Disk Problem - Receiving the correct disks.

Hardware: HP Envy Ultrabook 4-4043cl, 64 bit, OS Win 7
Problem:  Two months ago I had ordered and paid for the recovery disks for the above laptop computer. This order was made online.  Within five days, I received three disks which turned out to be the incorrect disks for my model of computer. Since then I have made four requests (phone calls) to HP Tech Support for appropriate disks. I supply the original order information and appropriate data about my laptop.  These requests take approximately twenty minutes to complete. Each time I have been told that the correct disks will be sent immediately.  However, I have yet to receive the recovery disks. During the last request, I asked for a confirmation number and a estimated date of delivery.  The support person stated that they do not supply that information.  However, the support person stated his supervisor would be informed and I would received a phone call from this supervisor. The call never came.
I have not been able to use my HP Envy for the last two months because of this problem. What must I do to get my recovery disks?

Sorry for walking you through steps you have already tried, that I was not aware of. It struck me odd that no Windows disk would boot and/or could see or read the hdd and I was hoping to get to a solution to that.
The fact that Recovery Disks state the drive  is unreadable is not the normal message you get when having wrong set..they usually give a message that the machine is not supported by the disks or something very similiar. I take it that you are still getting that message after prepping with Cyberlink utilty cd?
I have no immediate way of helping get another recovery set but have requested help from an internal source. You should be contacted via PM message here. To access your PM box you must be logged in and can then click the little  icon at top right of this page.
Good luck!

    Unfortunately, the answer from a local Support team already waiting more than two week, and I can not contact any other way.

  • Problems using the correct APN when tethering

    Hi,
    I'm trying to connect back to my corporate network by using tethering from my iPhone 4 running iOS 4.3.3. To do this I've created a configuration profile and I've added the specific APN, usename and password which connects me to my work network. The iPhone connects ok and from the phone I can access network resources. The problem is that when I try to access anything from another device Mac or PC via tethering (I have tethering enabled and I've tried bluetooth, USB and WiFi), I can't access anything from within my corporate network. From doing more testing I have confirmed that the iPhone send all traffic from the external device out to the default APN and not the one I've configured in the configuration profile. I've tried this from another iPhone 3GS and I get the same problem. Can anyone please help on this?

    If you tried with two different Sim card and still have the problem. I would advice you to simply reset the settings. That way you don't loose your medias.
    a. connect your iPhone to iTunes.
    b. Right click on it when it shows up on iTunes and choose back-up
    c. Right click on it and make sure you transfered all purchase items
    d. Take your iPhone, go on settings, general, reset all settings.
    e. follow the directions
    f. choose restore from back up when it ask you
    g. connect to iTunes
    h. right click on it and choose restore from backup.
    i. choose the back-up you had done earlier
    j. You should be good with your newly restored iPhone
    But honestly... I really doubt that the problem is the phone. You should try with the sim card of another carrier.

  • If I order items online will I receive the correct receipts to claim back the vat upon leaving the country?

    I am coming back to the UK next week, and I am going to update phone and computer. Last time when I bought a phone in the apple shop I was given a recipt to fill in so when I left the UK I could claim back the vat. I hold residence in an african country so this is possible.
    DO you know if I will receive the same documentation if I order said items on line?

    The HDMI would be better digital quality, the VGA is analog. The adapter you linked to would give you the analog output from the Mac, which you could then use with a standard VGA monitor cable into the TV. It is an Apple brand adapter, but you might prefer to use the mini-DVI to DVI adapter for the digital video output from the MacBook with a DVI-HDMI cable.
    Although you may have to experiment with the settings of the TV, and the System Preferences:Displays:Color: Calibration... settings on the MacBook to get the best color output. Sometimes you may get different results with the VGA compared to DVI for a particular TV.
    VGA is usually a single plug of 15 pins, RGB are individual RCA plugs for red-green-blue component video inputs, you might have these terms mixed up. Note that some DVI sources, like on a third party video card might contain both digital and analog signals so that you could just use a DVI-to-VGA adapter to pass through the analog signal. The Apple mini-DVI to DVI is only digital, so you can't chain that with a DVI-to-VGA adapter.

  • X130e wireless problems: determining the correct driver, enabling the radio

    I just spent 5 days and many hours getting the wireless on my wife's x130e to work, so I thought I would share my experience in the hope that it may help somebody.
    First thing: delete all of Lenovo's supplemental software that attempts to in any way manage the wireless connection. It and Windows disagree on what to do, apparently. Windows would tell me the wireless radio was on, and the Lenovo software would tell me it was off -- which it was, but because Windows thought it was on, it wouldn't turn on. So get rid of the Lenovo stuff, and just use Windows to install and manage the wireless driver. The O/S is ultimately in charge, so deal directly with it and don't try to use a middleman.
    As far as choosing the right driver: Lenovo's driver matrix still leaves you with several choices of driver even after drilling down to the bottom. I finally opened the bottom of the computer (3 screws, it's easy, see online hardware manual) and looked at the wireless card. In really tiny print I eventually found "Realtek RTL8188CE." (See photo. Your card may not look like this, but you ought to find something helpful.) You can go to the Realtek site, search for that number, and eventually find a driver. I ended up using a driver from the Lenovo site, but I felt comfortable that it was the correct one when the Windows Device Manager identified the author of the driver as Realtek.
    So...when I finally was satisfied I had the correct driver, and I deleted all the Levono auxilliary software, and setup the wireless card with Windows, it worked.

    it's the same dhcp thing... shutting the daemon down should do a "dhcpcd -k" - but I have to look into it.. .as it doesn't work too well on my machine...
    try "dhcpcd -k eth0" then network start... that *should* work the first time, as it releases the dhcp lease...

  • The problem with the correct diagnosis sensitive when exporting PDF to RTF

    Welcome.
    I came across the following error when converting PDF files to RTF program "Adobe Acrobat XI Pro" - it happens that some files (unfortunately, they form the majority of those who support it) some letters for some reason are not properly converted - for example, instead of getting a word in capital letters word in which the first letter is small and the other large. This is just one of many examples - "POLICE" -> "pOLICE", etc.
    Can someone already encountered a similar problem?Is interesting to add that when I open this PDF in the "Adobe Reader" and choose "save as" -> "text" - the letters are incorrect.
    I apologize in advance for any spelling mistakes - the text is translated automatically :-)

    Unfortunately, this was afraid ... I understand that there is no way to get around this? I do not have any influence on how the PDF files are created - just get there already, and I bring them into a fully editable (RTF).

    hello i created a table "DM_ZEIT" and want to but data into it. (This is only an excerpt from tables).
    1. I created a sequence on ZEIT_ID

    2. created the table

  • I'm doing a recovery after I received the CD from HP and freezes at 49% and doesn't let the CD out ?

    I just recived the CD's from HP today and I finally started it and everything was fine until it frooze at 49% and it says 0minutes remaining and i waited for an a hour and it's steel frozeen, I tried to take the CD out but it won't open. The mouse still moves fine and everything.
    Any ideas of what's going on ??

    Not related to your issue at all, but just a general observation.
    My Recovery did NOT complete on a Pavilion dv7 Entertainment laptop and so I chose the option labeled, "Save Log" to an external Thumb Drive.  I thought it would contain something marginally useful for me to look at and possibly indicate which step of the Recovery failed, but guess what!  These files are PASSWORD protected!!
    Come on HP, seriously?!?!
    There are 3.37 MB of files and so it might seem like this information is of SOME use to the End User, rather than simply being something for upload to HP via a paid service request.  If the computer is out of warranty and the owner is reluctant to spend any further money on it AFTER already replacing the failed 640 GB hard drive, why protect these files?  Why would ANY company or product support advisory board of engineers think, 'Let's password protect this file because customers will never understand the information in it anyway.'
    Well, I am going to let the Minimized (Minimal) Recovery process run again and see if that moves the issue forward, but this is really discouraging.  I would expect something more from a Top-of-the-Line Entertainment laptop for which I am sure my client paid a very good price!

  • Problems with the correct Customizing of the Support Desk Rule 13200137

    Hallo All,
    I have an issue with the rule 13200137. If I create the responsibility and assign a user, the Support Desk works well. The partner processing get the user of the created rule and fills the field "SupportDesk", with the assigned user. I tried to create a organisation with the SAP Standard and assign it in tab "Responsibility", after that the rule doesn't work. The "Support Desk"-field stays clear, also the field "Message Processor". I do all the steps like in the different "HowTo's", but it doesn't work. Does anybody have an idea?
    Solution Manager 4.0.
    Best regards
    Marc

    Hello All,
    the assignment between the field "Support Desk" and the organisation-modell works now. But the field "Message Processor" stays clear.
    Here the steps I have done:
    1 Create BP as employee and assign the user-id of a system user (In that case my user-id)
    2. In the change view of the organisation-modell I did assign the created BP of step 1. to to a organisation-unit. For the test scenario i used the SAP standard-units for "Service Desk".
    3. Modify the rule 13200137 for SAP-Components
    4. Assign the organisation-unit to the rule.
    Has anybody an idea what is wrong? Why stays the field "Messages Processor" clear?
    Best regards
    Marc

  • My Revolution Not Receiving The Whole Text Message

    Hello, lately I have been having a problem receiving the whole text message. People with smart phones text sometimes page length texts. I have no problem sending out page length text, but when someone sends me one, from many different companies and phone types, I only receive what the phone recognizes as the first part of the text message.
    An Example is:
    "Hello, I was wondering what you are doing later. I was thinking we could go to the shopping later at the mall. Do you ha"
    I primary text people so when I do not receive the whole text it is very frustrating.

    It's lies that you haven't received any other complaints on this issue.  1) because I have called repeatedly on this exact issue among many others with this phone and 2) here are some of about a dozen posts on this:
    https://community.verizonwireless.com/message/876695#876695
    and another:
    https://community.verizonwireless.com/message/875860#875860
    and another:
    https://community.verizonwireless.com/message/875820#875820
    granted some are recent, but if you search your forums you will see plenty.
    You used to and still state that you never hear of any of the many issues with this phone, including when it would randomly reboot.  Same phrase, "we have yet to hear of other cases with this device."  Bull...
    I too will be heavily considering leaving Verizon after over 10 years of being a customer not due to an LG phone sucking this bad, but your company's repeated refusal to acknowledge our concerns and treat us like we are ******.
    Like your master reset phrase above.  So you think that computing devices need a fresh start anytime something goes wrong is just not correct.  If that were the case every time I have fragments between nodes in a clustered server environment I'm supposed to factory reset them?!  NO, you debug it and get it working correctly!  This issue is fragmenting withing your sms/mms delivery system, so fix it!  As a sysadmin for a scientific super computing institute I guarantee I know more about computing devices than you ever will, and I can say your workarounds are asinine and only prolong your customer's issues with a clearly defective device.
    As with this, although not your manufactured device, it is something you sell and therefore you debug these issues across your network or give those of us that can the ability to do so, but alas another locked boot loader and if we were to root the device to mitigate these issues then we screw our self by trying to help our self.  It's always our fault, as we must have done something wrong.

  • How do I ensure a Map key maps to the correct data type?

    Hi,
    I have a simple event processing interface, where an Action class processes an event, and optionally generates a response event. I want to store a map of all registered actions, and then select the one matching an incoming event at run time:
    // the basic types
    public abstract class Event {
      protected String type;
      protected String data;
      public String getType()  { return type; }
      @Override
      public String toString() { return data; }
    // an action processes a request event and optionally returns a response event
    public interface Action<ReqE extends Event, ResE extends Event> {
      public ResE process(ReqE request);
    // two simple events
    public class Event1 extends Event {
      public Event1(String data) { this.type = "ev1"; this.data = data; }
    public class Event2 extends Event {
      public Event2(String data) { this.type = "ev2"; this.data = data; }
    // simple test class
    public class Test {
      Map<String, Action<? extends Event, ? extends Event>> actions
        = new HashMap<String, Action<? extends Event, ? extends Event>>();
      public void run() {
        // source event
        Event1 request = new Event1("hello");
        // register an action - takes an Event1 and returns an Event2
        actions.put(request.getType(), new Action<Event1, Event2>() {
          @Override
          public Event2 process(Event1 req) {
            return new Event2(req.data);
        // run it
        Action<Event, Event> action = getAction(request.getType());
        Event response = action == null ? null : action.process(request);
        System.out.println("Response=" + String.valueOf(response));
      public Action<Event, Event> getAction(String type) {
        return (Action<Event, Event>)actions.get(type);
      public static void main(String[] args) {
        new Test().run();
    }This all works, but the problem is obviously the cast in the getAction() method. I can see what the problem is: there is nothing to stop me registering a handler with the wrong event types:
      // register an action - this will fail at runtime as request is an Event1
      actions.put(request.getType(), new Action<Event3, Event4>() {
        @Override
        public Event4 process(Event3 req) {
          return new Event4(req.data);
      });So that leads to the map declaration. What I think I need to do is change the key of the map from String to... well, I'm not sure what! Some kind of parameterised EventType class that ties in to the event types of the parameterised Action class, so when I call:
      Map<????, Action<? extends Event, ? extends Event>> actions = ...
      actions.put(????, new Action<Event1, Event2>() {...});the key type ties in to Event1/Event2 so that it ensures the eventual call to "process" will receive the correct types. But this is really getting beyond my knowledge of generics!
    So if anybody has any useful pointers on where to go from here I'd be realy grateful.
    Cheers,
    Barney

    The obvious choice for the key would be the type of the request event instead of a plain String.
    Thus, declare the map like this:
    Map<Class<? extends Event>, Action<?,?>>Below, I've modified your code so that it is typesafe, provided you use the public methods "registerAction" and "getAction".
    import java.util.HashMap;
    import java.util.Map;
    abstract class Event {
           protected String type;
           protected String data;
           public String getType()  { return type; }
           @Override
           public String toString() { return data; }
         // an action processes a request event and optionally returns a response event
          interface Action<ReqE extends Event, ResE extends Event> {
           public ResE process(ReqE request);
         // two simple events
          class Event1 extends Event {
           public Event1(String data) { this.type = "ev1"; this.data = data; }
          class Event2 extends Event {
           public Event2(String data) { this.type = "ev2"; this.data = data; }
         // simple test class
         public class EventTest {
           Map<Class<? extends Event>, Action<?,?>> actions
             = new HashMap<Class<? extends Event>, Action<?,?>>();
           public void run() {
             // source event
             Event1 request = new Event1("hello");
             // register an action - takes an Event1 and returns an Event2
             registerAction(Event1.class, new Action<Event1, Event2>() {
               public Event2 process(Event1 req) {
                 return new Event2(req.data);
             // run it
             Action<? super Event1,?> action = getAction(Event1.class);
             Event response = action == null ? null : action.process(request);
             System.out.println("Response=" + String.valueOf(response));
           @SuppressWarnings("unchecked")
         public <E extends Event> Action<? super E,?> getAction(Class<E> type) {
             return (Action<? super E,?>)actions.get(type);
           public <E extends Event> void registerAction(Class<E> type, Action<? super E,?> action) {

  • Mini Calendar does not show the correct date

    Hi there ,
    in iCal on the bottom left side of the window is the mini Calendar, when I switch between months in this mini Cal,it does not show the correct month anymore and even the button "Today" can not revert the day back ( for example we are now in September, when I open iCal it shows it correctly but after going to next or previous months using the triangles on this mini Cal, the problem comes up ! )

    Maybe it wasn't receiving the correct info from your carrier. You're supposed to turn your phone off once in a while so the carrier can update stuff. I had originally heard that you should do it once a day but I never did that.

  • IOS Calendar not displaying recurring appointment on the correct date

    I have a recurring appointment set up in Microsoft Outlook, with the following settings:
    In Microsoft Outlook, this appointment is correctly displayed on 2 May 2013 at 8:30am.
    But, in iOS Calendar, this appointment appears on 8 May 2013 at 8:30am.
    In June 2013, Outlook correctly shows this on the 4 June, but iOS Calendar shows this on the 10 June.
    Pretty sure this is a bug in iOS Calendar, but maybe I'm doing something wrong.

  • HP DV5 HDD crash - recovery disk not correctingg the problem

    The HDD crashed on my DV5-1235dx and will not boot up past the system diagnostics screen. The recovery disks I created a week before the HDD crash are not correcting the problem. The current OS is Vista Home 64 bit, which was installed at the factory. I have no Vista OS disks to reload.
    When using the recovery disk 1 on the crashed HDD, at the HP Recovery Manager prompt, I select format the HDD to recover data, then after the computer seaches the HDD for several minutes, I get an "Error 100" message (not connecting to wireless network). The wireless network on/off touch switch above the keyboard (top, right) is off and will not function as an on/off switch as before the HDD crash.
    With a new Crucial 512Gb SSD installed and using the recovery disk , HP's recovery manager software give a 'files missing' message.
    Apparently, Microsoft no longer offers a Vista Home 64 bit download even with a valid Product Key and, as far as I can tell, and HP no longer offers a recovery disk for the DV5 loaded with Vista Home 64 bit.
    If anyone can offer a good solution for me to breath new life into my DV5 with the old HDD or preferably the new Crucial SSD, I would be very grateful.
    Question:  Is it possible to purchase a Vista to Windows 7 upgrade and load Win 7 on the new SSD using the Vista product key number on the bottom of my laptop?
    Thanks in advance........

    Have you tried performing a System Test just to check if there is a hardware issue?
    Thank you.

  • Vista has left the building...and the Recovery Disks do not work correctly.

    I've spent over a month and a half trying to fix my non-booting Satellite A215-S5818 running Vista.  Sometime mid-March (ah, the Ides of March!) I think I downloaded an automatic update and I remember the next time it booted my desktop was black; icons but no background picture.  Then I noticed on the bottom right it was saying my copy of Vista was not genuine.  I know that it is, because it is pre-installed.  So I ran check disk from the Properties page of C: in Windows Explorer. After it ran, I got BSOD.  At first I just booted into SafeMode and tried to disable whatever hardware/uninstall whatever software was causing the problem.  I think I got it to boot in SafeMode once or twice, then no more.  For a while I kept getting IRQL-NOT-LESS-OR-EQUAL, but I somehow stopped that through the command prompt(forum advice?).  Startup Repair could not fix it,  System Restore would not work on ANY restore points, even before March. The new BSOD error was:
    "STOP: c000021a {Fatal System Error}-
    The initial session process or system process terminated unexpectedly with a status of 0x00000000 (0xc0000221 0x00100594)"
    From then on I could only get a command prompt through the Repair Console.  So I xcopy-ed my Users directory to an external hard drive and grudgingly booted from the Toshiba CD, knowing it would obliterate everything, but I was desperate.  I got the 03-EEEE-0000 error.  Now I have a plethora of useless(?) CDs and DVDs I have burned ISO images on of any Freeware I thought could fix it, downloaded from the Internet using my husband's Windows 7 desktop computer.  I followed these instructions to the letter and it worked (I guess; it started immediately, no DOS objection), but when it rebooted I got a window (!) saying something about the type of hardware.  I haven't added or changed any hardware, but I have updated the BIOS recently.  So I clicked OK (no other choice), and now every boot up I get a window saying "Windows could not complete the installation.  To install Windows on this computer, restart the installation".  Startup Repair does not find any problems.  Could it be the BIOS?  I have re-flashed it twice, no difference.

    Oops! Sorry that was stupid on my part.
    From the command prompt you could type in   systeminfo   , and hit the 'Enter' key, it will take a little while to run, when it finishes, scroll back up to the top and you'll see OS Version and Service Pack you've got loaded. But, if you're booting off the recovery disk, that's the system info you'll get.
    If you can't get to the command prompt from the Advanced Boot Options menu, by trying to boot off the hard drive, and pressing F8, I'm not sure how you can find what Service Pack you have loaded.
    By using the Recovery Boot Disk, have you exhausted all the recovery options that Jerry linked before?
    What are the system recovery options in Windows Vista?
    How to use the Bootrec.exe tool in the Windows Recovery Environment to troubleshoot and repair start...
