Recovery Disks From Toshiba

I'm considering ordering a recovery disk from Toshiba for my Satellite L870D P/N PSKFQU-00D007 so that I can re-install Windows 8 clean.  I purchased my laptop from ToshibaDirect.  I can't make my own recovery disks because my hard drive has already been reformatted.  Does anyone have experience with this?  Will the disks I get from Toshiba have all the files and drivers I need for a complete reinstall of the OS?

When you restore the hard disk to its original out-of-the-box contents using Toshiba recovery media everything is restored. It's not like installing Windows.
For instructions, see the section Restoring from recovery media, which begins on p. 57 of the User's Guide.

  • How to get Vista Installation Disk from Toshiba?

I've been working with Microsoft support to resolve a security issue on my Satellite Pro A210, and have now been asked to use a Vista installation disk.
Microsoft says that I am entitled to an installation disk from the original supplier of my kit - Toshiba. But one did not arrive with my laptop - only a recovery disk was supplied.
How do I go about acquiring a Vista installation disk from Toshiba?
    Regards,
    Kevin C.

Mores is right. Toshiba doesnt offer installations CD with operating system only. you will get recovery image.
    Recovery image definition:
+Recovery Image is an exact copy of a computer's hard drive and contains the exact, byte-by-byte copy of a hard drive partition.+
+The copy includes all the partition information, boot sectors, the file allocation table, operating system installation and different application software.+
+Using Recovery installation CDs/DVDs, you can restore your system after heavy data loss caused by an operating system crash, virus attack or hardware failure complete.+
+Recovery image installation procedure allows the user easy and fast system installation. Unfortunately it is not possible to restore only certain files from a disk image.+
+Every recovery image is designed for one specific notebook model and it can not be used for any other notebook series.+

  • L305D-S5934 Has formatted hard drive, can I load recovery disk from a different machine?

    Hi,
I have an older L305D (can't remember the sub group model, but it does not have the web cam).  The LCD screen went out so I bought a L305D-S5934 with a formatted hard drive.  I swapped my old hard drive into the new computer, but it will not boot up.  It tried to recover, but that failed.  Can I make a recovery disk with my old computer to use in the new one, even though they are different sub models?  The new computer has a Windows license on it.  If I can't make a recovery disk with the old one that will work, can I get a copy of Vista Home and use the license on the new computer to install it or does the license only work with the recovery disks?  Once I have an operating system installed, I know I can get the right drivers from this website.  Any help/ideas would be appreciated!  I would rather not have to buy a recovery disk through Toshiba if I can avoid it.

    That won't work.

The OEM key won't work with a retail version of Windows. (And with the recovery discs it's unnecessary, because that one is pre-activated.)
The recovery media from Toshiba costs less than the product key for the retail installation DVD. And you don't need to mess around adding drivers and utilities.

  • USB recovery media from Toshiba for Windows 7 doesn´t work

    Hi,
Recently as my laptop Potégé was slow I reinstalled Windows without using Toshiba recovery disks. Now I can't activate Windows 7 (64 bits), so I ordered a USB recovery media from Toshiba. I tried to use it but it doesn't work. I turn off the laptop, turn it on again pressing F12, -with the USB plugged to the laptop- and when I press HDD recovery, the system just takes me to Windows as usual, without reinstalling. Any thoughts on how to reinstall?

    Hi,
Are you getting a boot option menu when you press f12?  Have you tried going into BIOS to check your boot order?  Usually f2 or DEL will get you to BIOS, or at the bottom of the boot option menu (which I assume is f12).  Once you are in BIOS, check that your USB drive is above the others in the boot order and save your configuration and reboot.  If you are still having a problem, you might check to see how many USB devices you have plugged in, or chained, and remove the ones that are not necessary because they could interfere with booting to your USB drive.  If you are using a USB hub, you might try putting the usb key into a different slot to give it priority over the other USB devices on boot up.  The highest priority slot on a USB hub might be the one closest to the USB cable that plugs in to your laptop's USB port.

  • When i insert my recovery disk from hp nothing comes up to start the recovery process

i just got the three windows 7 recovery disks from hp in mail(application and driver recovery dvd, and the two system recovery dvds) and when i put first system recovery disk in nothing comes up for me to start recovery what can i do

    Hi:
When you boot from the DVD drive with disk 1 in the DVD-ROM drive, nothing happens?
You need to restart the PC, and at the HP welcome screen, tap the F9 key to get the boot menu.  You then select the DVD-Rom to boot from and then follow the on screen prompts and instructions.

  • Is the Vista Upgrade Disk from Toshiba a Recovery Disk or a normal Vista Upgrade CD?

    Hello,
My status has now moved from COA Validated to POP Validated so I wondered how much longer it would take for the shipping. Also has anyone received the disk or know whether it is a Recovery Disk or a Upgrade Disk.
Surely they would have to lock it to Toshiba computers only? How exactly does it work?
If anyone knows please post :)
    Thanks,
    Stephen

Contacted Modus via phone today and my status has changed from COA to POP/COA they explained that means that all checks are ok and card details have been confirmed. They gave a possible delivery date sometime mid March and to just keep checking the site for the date as it will be posted. They said there is no need to do anything else. Hope this helps those waiting.

  • New windows 8 recovery disks from HP installed but won't work

I installed a new hard drive in a friends Dell G6-2249WM. She didn't make recovery disks so I ordered them from HP.
They seem to install fine, I click "Finish" and the notebook shuts down. When I start it I get:
    Boot device not found
Please install an operating system on your hard disk
    Hard disk (3F0)
    F2  System diagonstics
    for information, please visit: www.hp.com\go\techcenter\startup
I've run Hard drive diagonstics, it passes.
I've reset the bios to default.
I've hit Esc at start up, then hit F11 - the notebook then just goes back to the above "Boot device not found" screen.
I've removed all formating on the drive (on another computer). Reinstalled the Recovery disks and still have the same problem.
I received 3 Windows 8 Recovery disks and 1 Application and Recovery DVD from HP.

Sorry, your right, the one I'm working on is a HP G6-2249WM. MY laptop is a Dell. I did reseat the drive after the first install try. The hard drive test says it passes. I just tryed reinstalling the disks without the 4th "Application and driver disk".  still didn't work. It formats and loads all the files on the disks but then won't start the recovery after shut down.  I took the drive out and connected it to my desk top computer. I has 2 partitions, one with 18.9 gb with one boot.sdi, one boot.wim a seperate RM folder containing several base.swm files and one bild.wim file. The other partition is empty. Is there a way to force the recovery partition to unpack and start?

  • System recovery disk failure Toshiba C655-S5300

I tried using the FACTORY system recovery disks on my son's Toshiba C655-S5300 laptop.  During the installation of the first disk, the installation appears to bog down and stop. The disk drive begins "chugging", and will keep doing so. I terminated the recovery and made the mistake of reformatting the HDD.  Therefore, I cannot perform a system recovery form the HDD.  A subsequent try at recovery resulted in the exact same thing at the same time in the recovery process.
I thought that maybe the HDD was bad, so I tried it on a spare HDD of identical specs.  It does the same thing on that HDD!  Both HDDs appear to be still functioning well, so something else is wrong.
Does this mean that the factory recovery disks are bad?  What other things can cause this?  What other options do I have to restore my son's computer?
Thanks for any help you can give me.
    Dave

It does sound like the most likely cause is bad recovery discs. However, there could also be a hardware failure in the laptop such as the optical drive although this is less common.

  • Creating Recovery Disk from another Windows

Hello everyone, my laptop is HP Pavilion dv6 7040-tx and Product NumberB8N04PA#ACJ. It came with Windows 7 Home Premium which is also, in the recovery partition. I removed Windows 7 Home Premium and installed Windows 7 Ultimate. Now I want to create recovery disks for the Windows 7 Home Premium from the Recovery Partition. But I don't have HP Backup and Recovery Manager installed in Windows 7 Ultimate. Can any one tell me how to do this without doing recovery or removing my current Windows 7 Ultimate installation??

You must burn the Recovery Disks before installing another OS. You can call HP to order a set.Choose your country here>> Contact HP

  • Getting New Hard disk from Toshiba for E45t-A4100 . Do I still need recovery media

    Hi,
My hard drive crashed and after the online troubleshooting was directed to go for a new hard drive which I did as the laptop is in warranty.
However I am asked to get a recovery media too(as I do not have one created earlier).
My query is will the new hard drive not come with windows preinstalled. What extra will the recovery media have to help me. (Sorry if the questions sound dumb)
    Thanks

New hard drive is blank, recovery media is needed.
If the drive you have will load in safe mode you could try to burn your own recovery media, if not you will have to order recovery media.

  • NB200-10Z: Can't make recovery disk using TOSHIBA Recovery Disc Creator

    Hi Folks,
I finally got round to buying a USB DVD drive in order to create recovery discs for my NB200-10Z. I got the following:
    * Samsung SE-S084C, External USB 2.0 Slimline 8X DVD Writer, Black
I have twice tried to create a recovery disc and am now left with two trashed DVDs. The error codes in the error window are:
    Error Code: 0E01B5-26-2A040803
    Error code: 02016F-3C-00000000
The first time the burning was stopped, the second time the verify failed.
Can anyone shed light on this?

    *Short version:*
Thank you to everybody who replied.
I decided to try out the USB DVD drive on another laptop to perform a HDD backup operation...and it failed as well. Grrrr. Same DVD media (I just hadn't got round to getting new media to try).
I think I shall discount the possiblility of the NB200 being at fault, and therefore shall consider this question answered on this forum.
    *Long version:*
Well, I ended up using Virtual CD to "burn" an ISO file to HDD, and then copied that to another laptop to burn to DVD (not using the USB DVD drive, but the same DVD media type). Being the curious type I decided to perform a restore using the USB DVD drive. It got part way through installation then informs me that a CRC check had failed...argggg.
So, to cut a long story even shorter, I ended up slipstreaming the Intel storage drivers into a Win XP ISO (created from a Win XP CD I had from another previous laptop) and creating a bootable USB drive. Now I have a clean install with all the NB200 driver installed. Phew.
Actually, to think a bit more about it, I could have attempted to put the Toshiba recovery ISO onto the bootable USB drive, but I've done the clean install now anyway.
For whatever reason, I had such trouble getting the NB200 BIOS to recognise the USB DVD drive in order to change the boot order (it wasn't in the option list). This was with the DVD in the tray, and without the DVD in the tray. Some investigation required on my part, I think, to determine exactly what is going on.
