Recovery Disks sent by Toshiba do not work.

So about two months ago my hard drive started failing, and my Winsdows 7 partition stopped working. So I ordered Toshiba Recovery Discs using my serial and part number given on the bottom of my computer. When I follow the instructions that came with the discs (hold "C" until the Toshiba logo is shown then release) I get a message saying "No Bootable Decive Recognized". So I tried pressing F12 and booting from the CD drive, and same message. Well I got a new hard drive, thinking maybe it was the failure of the old one. But it has the same exact error message. When I researched further I read same reports but those people ordered a new set and it worked fine. So I did that but to no avail, same exact error. I recently booted into a Linux OS system and the discs aren't even recognized, while every other disc I put in is recognized. I'm not sure if they keep sending me faulty discs or the problem is on my end, but I would appreciate any feedback.
I use a Toshiba Satellite L650D
Windows 7 64 Bit Home Edition.
I also have a Windows Repair disc which actually gets me into Startup Repair.

    Hi,
Here's one option you could try as it will give a good indication whether there is a hardware problem with the optical drive itself.
    Create a bootable Ubuntu CD
The Ubuntu CD you create should run as you boot the notebook ( as should your Recovery Discs ) , so if this will not run, the problem is almost certainly a Hardware issue with the DVD drive or the sata controller.
On another PC, follow the procedure on the link below to create a bootable Ubuntu CD and follow the steps in Part 3 to 'Try it' to see if your noteboo will run this OS from the CD.  The 'try it' option does not need to install on the Hard Drive, it just runs from the CD.
    http://www.ubuntu.com/desktop/get-ubuntu/download
Let me know if this will run.

  • Recovery disk Creator & data partition won't work - Satellite L300

My niece asked me to re-install her Toshiba Satellite L300 laptop, because the windows installation is rather buggy. She didn't have a recovery disk. Using Toshiba's Recovery Disk Creator I tried creating a recovery disk.
However, the program wouldn't start. Checking the directory of the program, it would seem that the program simply isn't there. Afterwards, I checked the data partition of the laptop.
There was a map with HDD recovery. However when using Windows' advanced boot (F8 before Windows startup) there was no choice of repairing the notebook. They only choices were the standard windows options (Save mode, normal start, etc.).
In short, it seems impossible to re-install the notebook with the current information at hand.
What would be the next course of action? Is it possible to order a recovery CD from Toshiba?
Another niece has the same notebook, would it be possible to use that notebook to create a recovery disk?
I'll appreciate and look forward to your reactions.

    Hi
It looks like something has been changed on the HDD
However, fact is youve no Recovery disk and you cannot use HDD recovery option.
This means you need to order a new Recovery disk from Toshiba.
    You can do this here:

PS: one tip if you would use a search option of this forum, you would find the right answer too ;)

  • 7.1.2 update failed. Now my iPhone 5 is in recovery mode and hard resetting does not work for me. iTunes also will not detect my phone now

I did my 7.1.2 update via iTunes. Half way through it stopped working saying it does not detect my phone. Now my iPhone 5 is in recovery mode and hard resetting does not work for me. iTunes also will not detect my phone now

Thank you SO very much for posting this. I had the exact issue with my iPad Mini after the same upgrade. Hard reset failed, computer would not recognize iPad. I had read all the other instructions and nothing worked.... YOUR SOLUTION WORKED FOR ME - with a slight variation.
I followed your lead and connected my iPad Mini to another computer, fired up iTunes, it saw the iPad Mini in Restore Mode and allowed me to go into Restore (yes, it wiped all of the data but I have a back up on the other computer that would not see it after the failed update). It installed the latest iOS 7.1.2 as well. I then disconnected it from that computer, reconnected it to the computer that would not see it prior and it then saw it as a new iPad and allowed me to Restore my backup and now it's all good!
I detailed my steps only because you downloaded the previous version - 7.1.1 whereas I downloaded the latest version (7.1.2) and then restored my back up.

  • Old external Toshiba HDD not working with Windows 7

I feel as if this problem is going to affect more and more people. Having searched the internet without luck, I felt the need to address the issue here!
I have an external 320GB Toshiba HDD, model: PX1267E-1G32 which Windows 7 (64Bit Professional) does not recognise. It does not show up in my computer and states the device is not working properly. Troubleshooting does not help, and it suggests i have the latest driver for it (version 6.1.7600.16385)
I can not find any support for this device. I have read some people trying to tackle the password protection it comes with (a separate partition with this function) but this is not an issue for me as i never use it. There are drivers on that partition as well which have no affect on windows when i have transferred them via a flash stick.
On my laptop Windows XP is installed and it finds the HDD without any problems. This has lead me to believe there is a fault with compatibility within the newer windows systems. I have tried formatting the drive, reinstalling drivers and searching for a solution. I really can not believe this has not been resolved somewhere and fear with it being an older discontinued product (Mid 2006) there will be little support for it.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    hi urbancoffy,
    boah what a hell....
let's look if there is a cure.....
this device is recognized under every other system than yours, right?
if so maybe your software is misconfigured or your usb connection is bad....
    how to determine?
try other devices like an usb-stick
check bios if legacy usb support is on
check device manager (device plugged in) if it shows any information like a //dev_xxxx
if your usb port is ok
goto device manager and remove all usb devices (show hidden devices)
reboot and let the system determine the hub etc
plug in usb-hdd and see if it will be detected - keep in mind: you dont have to load a driver for a usb storage device by yourself
if the usb ports are ok and your hdd is recognized by other systems maybe it's time for a recovery of your system....

  • Using the Dvd recovery disks results in "operating system not found"

I recently bought the DVD recovery disks for Windows 8 from HP. After following the procedure using the 3 recovery disks plus the supplemental "Application and Driver recovery" disk. Immediately after installing the supplemental disk I receive a message that says "contact HP support and "in most cases recovering the hard drive will fix the problem".
When I try to reboot another message appears saying "the operating system is missing". I repeated the procedure several times (also skipping the supplemental disk) and the message is the same.

    Hi:
I can't help you with that problem but if you want to try making your own plain W8 installation media, you can use this file and it should work with the embedded product key in your notebook's BIOS.
    https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B0W9PBigPy94aVJWSndyTFNFMzg/edit?pli=1
Then use this tool to transfer the file to a 4 GB USB flash drive or DVD.
The tool will also make the media bootable.
    http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/windows-usb-dvd-download-tool
Then go to the g6z-2200 download page and get the drivers and available software you need.
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/product?cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&product=5328122
You will also need to install the AMD Chipset Drivers from the link below.
    http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/chipset?os=Windows%208%20-%2064
If it works, see if you can get your money refunded from HP for the disks.

  • Lenovo OneKey Recovery for Windows 7 64bit does not work

Does anyone have a patch or new release link for Lenovo OneKey Recovery? I recently bought a G450 and Win 7 Ultimate-64bit separately, there is no link available in the support and download page under this model yet. I tried installing the Vista 64 bit version and still does not work as well. I did a clean install downloaded the drivers from the Lenovo support page.
    Solved!

You haven't provided a link to the page you are trying to download from. On top and at the right of most download pages there should be a red loud speaker next to the print page button, just click on it in order to report a faulty download or possible other problems with the page.

  • Re: After System-Recovery the Secondary Display (Beamer) will not work

    Hello,
i had a problem with my Thosiba Notebook ! (Detail of System Name follows ... later)
First i saw that the Yahama Sound Chip was diabled (disapper) caused by Windows Update and i
found no way to recover / install the correct driver.
So i decided to ... give up with timewasting and Started the System Recover Process.
So after the Recover finish ... the sound was back and during the (Windows) Updating routine
... it' was disabled again, but this time i could install the new correct driver.
After i take back my installed notebock back to work (sound still working) i connect a beamer
to the secondary vga connection ... and what a suprise
the beamer shows NOTHING ... before this it still works
Has anyone a idea what could be the error reason ?
My System runs XP Home (recoverd and update to SP3)
The VAG is a GeForce G 400 (installed the driver from CD-Rom)
... i could not download the newest vga driver .. because it had an temp. problem with the Webaccess
... ... i look for the rigt ip-setup (just for info you)
If you need more details please ask ... i'll answer so good i can
Thanks to all how read this (and hopeful help me out)
This post comes from Germany ... you could replay in english !

The reason why i post the model name later , is that i'm now at home , the notebook is at work.
Yes, i do the monitor selection by pressing FN + F5 ... this what make me confuse
before the recovery it works , that display switch correct between int. LCD, CRT (Beamer) or LCD+CRT.
but now the toggle did not work, but the vga driver should almost the same as before (i see no different)
... for understanding .. when i do toggle i see on LCD the option windows wich monitor i want (i mean the pop-up)
but the beamer does not start correctly the display.
I'll try to put a new driver (form the support download site) on the system .... but i believe it should already works with
the driver it has now , the new driver will give me just a bit better performance , right !?
Another thing i forgot (but is a secondary problem) is that when i want to see a DVD at the laptop
and i'll show it with the beamer it works only when i switch to CRT (Beamer) only , if i do not
the DVD shows only on LCD correct if both are active i see on CRT only a black display window where
the DVD should appear ... i can live with that, but it seems not normal ... the manual or FAQ's don't say anything about it ..

  • Satellite A45-S250 : How to use Recovery CD if DVD Drive is not working

    Hi all ,
    First , appologize for my english , i'm a french guy :)
So my problem is that i would like to re-install everything on a A45-S250 by using the recovery CD.
But the main problem is that the internal DVD drive is not running anymore.
I've try by plugging an external DVD drive, but the laptop don't want to boot on it.
I've seen that it can boot through a floppy drive, lan, or SD card. But with theses possibilities , how to be able to reinstall everything include in the recovery CD ?
I may have a usb floppy drive, so i'll be able to boot on a disk boot. but then how to start the recovery CD procedure ?
I'll prefer to use the recovery CD as a WinXP home standart, cause i know that the OEM serial won't work to a Original version of WinXP ...
    Thanks for your help !
    Kubs

    Hi
If you want to use the Recovery CD then you would need a bootable CD/DVD drive.
Fact is that you would be not able to boot from a USB CD/DVD drive or its not possible to copy the whole stuff on the SD card and then to boot
You need an internal CD/DVD drive or external CD/DVD drive which could be connected to the PCMCIA port
For me only these two possibilities could work!

  • Rescue and Recovery 4.21 problem: Restore System not working

    Hi,
I've got the following problem: on Vista Business x64 I run RnR frequently to ensure a proper and recent backup in case my HD dies. Now I have a 2nd HD at home and wanted to try if the system restoration process is working like I expect it should - it doesn't!
I save the Backup on a USB HD...
I inserted the new, empty disk into the pc (removed the normal one) and booted with the usb hd connected. No problems starting RnR with the thinkvantage button and beginning the restoration. After quite some time it was finished and I was prompted to restart, which I did. Nothing happened apart from the PC claiming "NTLDR missing" or something. When I watched the content in Windows with the HD connected with a usb cable, it was partitioned in 2 partitions (as it should) but the content wasn't even remotely the same! I read in the forums that maybe the problem was due to a version upgrade from 3 to 4 and made a complete new basic backup and restarted the process. This time with even less success, there isn't even a "NTLDR" error message or similar and the HD is in a single "EISA Partitio". I don't even know what that is...
So, how do I restore my System to another HD? It's really important that this works reliable as this is my computer for work and it would be terrible if data was lost!
Is it even possible to back up the system reliable with RnR?
    Regards,
    Daniel

I looked into my Event Viewer and got a hint. Also, knowing that my anti-virus program,
BitDefender, has a feature that prevents modification to the registry without permission from
me, and I hadn't been asked for such, I decided to turn that feature off and try again.
That worked, and I now have the latest version of Rescue and Recovery installed.

  • I was updating to mountain lion when it stopped the installation and marked an error in the disk, now the computer does not work....what can i do?!

Also the computer does not find the HD since it marked the error.
I need a way to either reinstall OS Lion or to complete the installation of Mountain Lion successfully.

Depending on what OS the computer had on it, either boot into the Recovery Volume using command - R or by holding down the option key and selecting the Recovery Volume. If the computer was using pre-Lion OS, boot from the disks that came with the computer.
Run Disk Utility and see if you can repair the hard drive. Also try Repairing Permissions. If successful, try a normal restart.

  • Startup disk App in System preferences not working in one partition

Using the Startup disk App, I cannot reboot from my Mac OS X drive to another; but when I am in another of the drives/partitions, the Startup disk App. works. Checking the console, system.log, I found this statement repeated many times, after I filtered it with "Startup disk":
Mar 29 10:26:21 xxx-xxxxxxx's-powermacg3series /usr/sbin/update: FIXME: IOUnserialize has detected a string that is not valid UTF-8, " ˇˇˇˇˇˇˇˇˇˇˇˇˇˇˇ". I am not sure that this is pertinent, however.
How can I solve this problem without an archive and install on my primary drive?

The G3 is the Blue & White model, 450 MHz, 896 MB RAM. I have 3 HDrives, one with two partitions; all the drives/partitions have Mac OS 10.4.11, except for one which has 9.2.2. The problem has been going on for many months. As I stated, when I am in my primary drive, I cannot get the Startup Disk application in the System Preferences application to boot to any other of the drives/partitions. However, when I am booted in any of those other drives/partitions, I can boot wherever I want to. I suspect that the original installation had a gliche that caused this problem; installations sometimes don't work the first time, but I want to avoid a new archive and install on my primary drive, if I can locate the problem and correct it more directly. Any help you can give I will really appreciate.
