Updated 4.0, stuck on "slide for emergency"

Everything updated pretty quick, and I went to turn it on and now I get this "slide for emergency" message, anyone know what to do?
iTunes won't recognize it, I get this error message:
"iTunes could not connect to this iPhone because an unknown error occurred (0xE8000065)."
So I can't restore to the backup I did before I updated.
Tried restarting iTunes. And no this isn't a jailbroke phone. It's straight from Apple/AT&T.
I've tried restarting the phone by holding both home button and power button. Still frozen.
Please help!

To put the iPhone into DFU or recovery mode:
1. Connect your iPhone to your PC.
2. Open the iTunes application.
3. Hold down the top button on your iPhone and the circle home button at the same time for at least 10 seconds.
4. After exactly 10 seconds release the Sleep/Wake button. Continue holding the home button until you iTunes pops up a message telling you that it has detected an iPhone in recovery mode.:
"iTunes has detected an iPhone in recovery mode. You must restore this iPhone before it can be used with iTunes"
5. Just click OK. Your iPhone screen will be black as well.

I had problems with poor reception and people telling me that I kept cutting in and out, or that I sounded like I was talking underwater. Happened only after I upgraded my 16g 2g from 1.1.4 to 2.1. Husband has a 3g on 2.1 and has no problems, so area and external factors were not the cause. I took it in to an Apple Genius. He extracted the software, which he believed was somehow corrupted, and reinstalled it. I set it up as a new phone and have not had that problem since.
Only problem I am still having is that every once in a while when I turn my phone off, when I turn it back on I get the planet & USB cord with the chilling screen that my phone will work for emergency use only. A hard reset will return it to a normally functioning phone. Anyone else out there experiencing this? (This happened even after the Apple Genius extracted & reinstalled 2.1.) Anyone know what causes this?

Are you using the iPhone with any accessories? Does this seem to happen after being used with the accessory?
When the iPhone was restored, was it restored from backup or setup as a new iPhone? You can try restoring the iPhone and setting it up as a new phone, if you haven't already. From there you can test it without any accessories.
If it was already restored and setup as a new phone and is not being used with any accessories, the iPhone may need hardware repair. Just call AppleCare or make another reservation to have a Genius at a local Apple store take a look at it.

IPhone Message "Slide For Emergency" - Please HELP

I got my new iPhone the other day!! It was working fine until I updated it...
When i updated it, i turned the phone on and how it is saying "Slide For Emergency" in different languages!!! It wont let me do anything exept from dialing an emergency number.....

Your iPhone has updated and is waiting for you to validate the AT&T account it is supposed to be registered with.
If you hacked it to work with other networks, then you modified the software in violation of the license agreement for your iphone.
One of the downsides to hacking an iphone is you can't update it the normal way afterwards.

In Mail, one mailbox for Recovered Message (AOL) keeps showing 1 very large message that I cannot delete. How can I get rid of this recurring problem, please?

In Mail on iMac, successfully running OS X Lion, one mailbox on My Mac for "Recovered Messages (from AOL)" keeps showing 1 very large message (more than 20 Mb) that I just cannot seem to delete. Each time I go into my In Box, the "loading" symbol spins and the message appears in the "Recovered Messages" mailbox. How can I get rid of this recurrent file, please?
At the same time, I'm not receviving any new mails in my In Box, although, if I look at the same account on my MacBook Pro, I can indeed see the incoming mails (but on that machine I do not have the "recovery" problem).
The help of a clear-thinking Apple fan would be greatly appreciated.

I worked it out.
Unhide your hidden files ( I used a widget from http://www.apple.com/downloads/dashboard/developer/hiddenfiles.html)
Go to your HD.
Go to Users.
Go to your House (home)
there should be a hidden Library folder there (it will be transparent)
Go to Mail in this folder
The next folder ( for me ) is V2
Click on that and the next one will be a whole list of your mail servers, and one folder called Mailboxes
Click on that and there should be a folder called recovered messages (server) . mbox
Click on that there a random numbered/lettered folder -> data
In that data folder is a list of random numbered folders (i.e a folder called 2, one called 9 etc) and in EACH of these, another numbered folder, and then a folder called messages.
In the messages folder delete all of the ebmx (I think that's what they were from memory, sorry I forgot as I already deleted my trash after my golden moment).
This was GOLDEN for me. Reason being, when I went to delete my "recovered file" in mail, it would give me an error message " cannot delete 2500 files". I knew it was only 1 file so this was weird. Why 2500 files? Because if you click on the ebmx files like I did, hey presto, it turned out that they were ALL THE SAME MESSAGE = 2500 times. In each of those folders in the random numbers, in their related message folder.
Now remember - DONT delete the folder, make sure you have gone to the message folder, found all those pesky ebmx files and deleted THOSE, not the folder.
It worked for me. No restarting or anything. And recovered file. GONE.
Started receiving and syncing mail again. Woohoo.

HT1338 I have unsuccessfully tried for a month to fix phone is disabled I have tried everything I have 2 iPhones with 2 separate phone numbers my tablet and 1st phone works perfectly this other phone is totally disabled only screen says for emergency call

Every thing I have seen or heard to fix this unable to non disable phone can't get in except for emergency calls in order to get to go to try anything. Please advise what to. I am not a computer geru but I can generally fix problems this I can't. THANKYOU to anyone with any simple solution. DR site : MBX,Hub&CAS -- 1No --> Physical
               Edge   --- 1no --> physical
we enabled the DAG for our Mail box server and its replicating through a point to point link between our main site with DR site.
Now we are interested to enable   our DR (disaster recovery) in MS cloud. Please let me know the process to go further .
how will the DAG or DB replicate to DR Site in cloud?. how its works?

Try to restore your iphone via iTunes or update to ios6.1.2.
If itunes gives an error with restoring (DFU/Recovery or just normal)
try this:
open your computer and search on windows; C://windows/system32/drivers/etc/hosts
open up the hosts file in note pad you will see IP adresses and more add another line and put in this:
#74.208.10.249 gs.apple.com
this is a by-pass to the cydia/saurik restore server, it has nothing to do with jailbreaking over voiding apple's warranty

DMM 5.4 Emergency Message Feature

I have been struggling with the Emergency Message feature to trigger an emergency presentation. To avoid having to create a presentation of any and all potential emergencies, my concept was to display a URL that uses PHP to automatically populate the emergency message from our Emergency Notification System. I have been successful with creating this message and triggering my DMPs using the 'Go to URL' Advanced Task. This successfully directs the DMP to display the URL but does allow for any audio capability since I cannot find any way to embedd an audible alert within the webpage because the DMP does not support Flash audio.
My second option was to create an emergency presentation that would show the URL along with a MP3 audio alert message looping in the background. I then tried creating a deployment package by pre-positioning the emergency presentation on the DMP by using the 'File Transfer to DMP or Server' Advanced Task and then triggering the emergency presentation when needed. This works fine with some URLs but not with one using PHP. With my limited HTML and PHP knowledge, I can only assume that this does not work because the DMP is playing the file directly from the local flash card and not within it's internal browser which would explain why the URl cannot access the web server to pull the PHP content.
Are my assumptions correct? Does anyone know of a better was to use a dynamic URL with audio for an emergency message?

You should be able to create a swf file with your audio running in the background, and then feed the message into the flash module using an XML source. You can output the data as XML instead of HTML and then have your flash module consume that.

Slide for emergency

My iphone is stuck at slide for emergency though it was working till date. I bought this Officially unlocked iphone from UK and I am in India for last one year. It was working fine and today it stopped working.
Error message displayed:
There is a problem with your IPhone
We are sorry the iphone you connected is not recognized and cannot be activated for services. We recommend you visit your nearest Apple Store for more information.
I have tried DFU 3-4 times but of no use.
Can you please guide me as phone is bricked.

You say you bought 'Officially unlocked iphone from UK'.
Where did you buy it and who unlocked it ? I ask as we have about one person a day here saying they have an officially unlocked iPhone bought in the UK which turns out not to be from the UK at all.
Its probably awaiting a valid SIM card from the original country and being activated with account details, which you would not get unless you had it on its original network.

Emergency Message to Cisco Phones/Devices

Does anyone know if it is possible to send an emergency message that will display on the screens of phones without the need for a third party application. Can it be done from an XML file?
For example I would like our IT Desk to broadcast a message to all users that a service is down, and if possible that email send message to the phone screens

For those interested I have managed to find a way to achieve this by pushing xml to the phone using the web interface on the phones - http://<ipaddressofphone>/cgi/Execute

From this you can create an .exe that will push the notification and play a chosen sound from the cisco defaults, alerting the user to the message. If you wanted an emergency sound you could justy add to call manager and edit the ringlist.xml (?).
To get around the authentication issue per user (As our users are linked to LDAP) I created an application user and added the devices (Not UDP unfortunately) to the application user. This way you can Auth to all phones using the one username and password.

Emergency message during presentation

Is there a way to display an emergency message during a presentation? We use Keynote to run Presentations at our Church and need a way to display messages without interrupting the presentation during a sermon? Is there a stand alone program or feature I can use to overlay an emergency message?

When I first read this I thought "why not use one of those red LED scrolling signs". But wow, those are expensive!
So I tend to agree with the other thread. The cheapest and simplest way to do this is to use a second projector. They are really cheap these days - especially as you don't need very good quality for an occasional text message.
