Recovery loop

ok first off, the computer or itunes wouldnt recognize ipod, but it would charge. so to fix that, i did the 5Rs, which meant updating itunes to 7 and ipod to whatever, and then restoring the ipod. now its in that recovery mode loop. i read the last post, but i cant find my ipod in 'my computer'to change the drive letter[and how do u do that?], but it shows up in itunes, hence the recovery/restore loop.
now the question, what do i do?

  • Touch restore error 28 - permanent recovery loop with LOG

    http://pastebin.com/m3d0f3b06
there's the log. I tried all the apple steps (incl. "proper" dfu mode etc) so please don't suggest that. ipod touch 2g (late 2009) stuck in recovery. Error 28 every time I restore on multiple mac and PC machines. 3.1.2 was on it, that's the attempted restore.
The log is posted above, can some genius please suggest what to do?
I have also tried irecovery and a few other things, but I can't get it to work. It restored once but as soon as I put music on it - it went back to recovery loop.

I'm having the exact same problem, right down to it going back in the recovery loop when you start to download music. Did you find a solution or do I now have a nice paperweight? Tryed to restore many, many times on different computers. If you have any suggestions, they would be appreciated.

  • IPod 5 stuck in recovery loop after updating to iOS 8

I own a 5th Generation 32GB iPod Touch. The other day, I tried to update it to iOS 8. Shortly after the installation process began, it went into recovery mode. I believe it's in a recovery loop because I tried using tinyumbrella to exit recovery mode, and the screen went black, the Apple logo came up like it was trying to boot up, but instead went right back into recovery mode. Does anyone know any way I can fix this?
Another note, if I can get it out of the loop, I believe I can get it out of recovery mode. So even if you only know how to get it out of the loop, that info would be very appreciated. Thank you.
EDIT: I do have a backup on iCloud, but it's from about nine months ago. I'd really like to be able to save all those photos and videos I've taken since then. I can get my apps back easily, but there's a lot of data that won't be as easy to get back.

Try the following. I expect you will have to let the battery fully drain.
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Recovery loop iPhone 5

My iPhone 5 is suck in recovery loop after  an update  is there anyway method to get it out of recovery loop.   I have tried reiboot it doesn't work and I have tried shs tiny umbrella.

Has the phone been jailbroken before the update? if yes, the loop could be a result of modifying the software and jail braking made the phone useless.
DFU mode might be the last chance to restore the phone again.

  • HT1414 Mine keeps on saying that the device could not be restored, "an unknown error has occurred (2001)"!! Guess it's stuck in that dreaded "iPhone Recovery Mode" loop. The question is, which way out??? How do I get it out of the recovery loop??

A quick Google search for Error 2001 would indicate that this occurs when you have a jailbroken phone or were trying to downgrade iOS. Is that true for you?

  • Endless Recovery mode (Recovery loop) IOS 8.0.2

Hey, guys! Do you know how to exit from recovery loop without erasing all my data? I tried to update ios 8.0 to ios 8.0.2 and it failed. I don't have any backups on iCloud or on my PC. I've read many forums, a lot of people have that problem with 8.0.2 and they can solve that problem too.
    Do you have any suggestions?

If your phone is in recovery mode, then there are no data on the phone.
If you don't have an icloud or iTunes backup, then your data is gone.  There is no place for you to restore your data back without a backup.

My Iphone 4s never restarted after installing the latest upgrade. I understand this is called the recovery loop. It will not restart after going through the recovery process in itunes. What do I do as the phone is completely dead to all intents and purposes. What on earth do I do???

Try and put it DFU mode and do a manual install, as outlined in the link below.

  • Recovery loop only on one PC

Whenever I connect either of my two iPods or new iPhone to iTunes, I get in a recovery loop. This only happens on my laptop, not my desktop. Any ideas?

It's possible the USB port on the laptop is not supplying enough power to run the device while it is connected.
If you happen to have a self-powered USB hub (the type that comes with its own power supply), try connecting the iPods and iPhone through the hub, instead of directly to a USB port.
NOTE:  If you happen to be using a USB hub right now, then remove the hub and try connecting one of the devices directly to the laptop's USB port.  It's possible the HUB is not supplying sufficient power.

  • Please help. Nano recovery loop

It's a 5th gen nano with the click wheel. It died a few days ago and it would not revive when I connected to iTunes on my PC. I tried it on a mac and it came back and I restored the ipod, and it worked for about half a day after that. Now it goes into the recovery loop on both the mac and the pc. I've updated iTunes on both systems, I changed the drive letter on Windows, I formated the ipod on the mac and on the pc. Still getting the loop. Is this done? Is there any other fix?

I forgot, and when I get to the "waiting for ipod" the ipod's screen goes black and will not come onagain until itunes starts the recovery loop again. If it is unplugged it will not come on. I've tried all the click wheel commands.

  • Ipod nano in recovery loop

    Hi All,
My old ipod Nano is in recovery loop.
    1. First it was stuck at "do not disconnect", i did the reset (menu + select), that worked, but it did get in recovery.
    2. Itunes recognizes the ipod  as (Ipod Nano software version 1.1.3) and asks to recover
    3.  When i recover it, it ws succuesful according to Itunes
    4. The ipod reboots, displaying the msg "recover with itunes" in 3 languages.
    5.  Then step 2 to 4 keeps repeating itself.
Windows askes me to format the drive, but when i do click yes, it can acces the drive.
In the drive manager the ipod is displayed as "unallocated space". I can create a partition as it is protected.
I already tried to change the drive letter, reinstall i tunes.
Anybody got an idea? Or is it ready to dump.

I can create a partition as it is protected.
    must be
I can't create a partition as it is protected. ;-)

  • HELP. Recovery loop of Death.

So my iPod Nano 7th Generation has been stuck in a recovery mode loop for some time now. And restoring it finishes with the computer saying detecting ipod in recovery mode, please Restore. And this loops over and over. My most annoying problem is that upon using another computer besides my Crappy 328 dollar Acer, it restores perfectly, HOWEVER when i go back to using it on my computer it says its syncing music, but when i unplug it shows no content whatsoever on it. Plug it back in and it goes into recovery loop after saying Cannot read contents of iPod. So i started trying to sync music using my family's computer, BUT the music is freakign skippy and every liek 2 to 3 seconds of audio i get a loud breaking shrieking sound. So my music is ****** up as well. This is 600+ songs i dont want to lose by giving up my **** computer. Transfering the files to another results in the skippy audio. Ive also changed drive letters and use various tools trying to fix the **** thing. Did i mention that i had the 6th gen nano and it did the same thing? So its my computer... Ive run virus scans and the whole lot. Plz help...

    o.k. here is an update.
The basic test did finish. It took 2:37 secs.
    "No trouble found"
Should I run the extended test and wait it out?
The applecare C.D. has some kind of test I think as well...Should I run that?
Not really sure what to do?
Don't want to pull the ram and send it back if that isn't the problem.
Not sure if it might be heat related or ram or software.
I have nothing really on the MacBook yet.
Just iWork08 and firstclass (email program for work). No widgets or anything like that.
I did try and use the loops in GarageBand. It asked me to download them or install the C.D. I picked download but nothing happened. Could that be part of the problem.
Thanks for any help. I would love to solve it myself but I am thinking the applecare might be coming in handy soon!
    Tig
