Recovery Manager is working but...

Hi everybody
I can only find people asking about failure with the recovery manager but in my case all whent ok exept for some windows issues with the "windows update", Live mail and defender for now.
But my question is: now that I have my pc running i will like to recover my data from the recovery backup folder, everithing have been decompress and place in a folder on my hhd but what I suppose to do now?, copy and paste?, overwrite?
thanks for any help

Hi, Oscar:
You can copy your personal files and to the applicable folders in your new user profile.
You cannot copy installed program files to a new windows installation.
Check your back up for a folder named SWSetup. In that folder are sub-folders named spXXXXX, where XXXXX is the file number of the driver or program installation file.
You can click on all of those sub folders to see what program installation files are available.  Then you can run them and install many of the programs that came with your PC.
There is no need to copy the windows folder at all.
Hope this helps,
Paul

  • Recovery Manager not working correctly

I am checking my dad's laptop, a Compaq Presario F700 (F761US) and I cannot get the HP recovery working. I don't have the discs, so I select "System recovery" to its original factory condition, but it just restarts as if nothing.
    Any help would be appreciated.

Is the recovery drive visible in My Computer? Try creating a disc from the HP Recovery Manager and use that.

  • Replaced hard drive and used Recovery Manager via USB but now I don't have a D:recovery partition.

I replaced my bad hard drive on my G62 Notebook and used HP Recovery Manager on a USB stick. Afterwords I restored from a back up but couldn't restore the D:recovery portion because the new hard drive doesn't have this partition. How can I create this now and restore the recovery partion now?

    Hi,
When you reinstall the operating system using the USB recovery stick, it should create by default a recovery partation Drive D. Since you wont be able to create the partation manually. So if the HDD which you had replaced is not matching with the exact HDD which was shipped in the system, then it would have caused the issue. So try reinstalling the OS again.

  • G560 PXE error; OneKey Recovery seems to work, but then I get BSOD upon boot

I've got a 3-year old G560 and a few days ago, I ran into a PXE error out of the blue. I didn't really change anything about the computer's setup, and it may have been caused by commuting the laptop.
I already went through the whole F2 setup regimen of disabling network boot, changing over to compatible mode, trying every combination of boot order, etc.
When I was in compatibility mode, I was able to get the OneKey Recovery to work. There's no DVD involved, seems like it's stuck in that partition. I never set a restore point, but I didn't mind a factory reset. So I did the OneKey factory reset and it took about 15 minutes and it seemed to be okay, but then when I try to start the laptop, it will show the Windows logo, freeze there for a few seconds and then it flashes the blue screen of death for a split second (impossible to capture the error codes).
If I try it in safe mode, it shows the files that are being loaded, and it BSODs right after classpnp.sys
Now, I guess my main question is if OneKey will appear to work and yet maybe the HDD (hard drive) does not work. Could it be a matter of just replacing the hard drive? I did pull out the hard drive and re-mount it. Also the motherboard and re-mounted it. Is the OneKey function separate from the hard drive?
The laptop is so old that I wouldn't want to invest much money in its repair (warranty is past expiration date), but it's also been my daily computer, so I wouldn't mind if it was just a case of replacing a hard drive. With these problems, would it just be possible to make Ubuntu into my primary operating system by using an install disc?

    hi stophammertime,
    Welcome to the Forums.
It looks like you have some bad sectors on the HDD that's why the OKR didn't work or for some reason, OKR worked but the bad sectors corrupted the OS installation files. To verify this, you will need to run diagnostics on the HDD (try ultimatebootcd as it has diagnostic tools for ever brand of HDD's)
Also, the OneKey Recovery runs on a hidden partition on the HDD (usually the last few sectors of the drive). It's possible to trigger the OneKey Recovery if the partition structure isn't damage but if the target drive has bad sectors (i.e. Drive C:\), it may fail to image the drive or corrupt the installation files.
If verified that you have bad sectors on the HDD, you will need to replace the HDD and from here, you can:
    1. Use a recovery disc to restore the default OS (this is only psosible if you have created one using this method)
    2. If you can still read the COA product key at the bottom, you can burn an ISO copy on this website and use it to clean install Windows into your PC (if you get issues activating Windows, try to activate by phone).
    3. Scratch Windows and use Ubuntu as you're primary OS.
    Hope thish elps

  • Managed server working, but enterprise manager shows it is down.

    Hi,
I have installed weblogic 10.3.5 on a pair of Oracle Linux 5 vms.
On one server everything looks great and runs great. On the second server (seemingly set up the exact same way), the enterprise manager shows that my managed server is down, not the admin server, but a new one I have created. I can't seem to find any errors, and everything seems to function just fine, I am able to start and stop the server from em and the console.
    Any ideas where to look?

You may want to post this question in the WebLogic Server forum, the problem may not be specific to WebCenter Portal.

  • HP recovery manager and windows update

    Hi,
    I am having two problems:
    1.  I have been having problem with my Recovery Manager, everytime I try to start it, it gives an error window "HP recovery manager has stopped working" and then it shuts the Recovery Manager down.  Please advise.
    2.  In the past I would run the Windows update through the Recovery Manager, but since the Recovery Manager was down, I would just go run the Windows update from the Control Panel.  But now even the Windows update cannot be started too.  It will just get stuck at the icon without further action when I double click on it.  Please help.

    Hi @yawbus ,
Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have looked into your issue about your HP ENVY TouchSmart 15 Notebook and issues with the HP Recovery manager not working correctly.  Here is a link to the HP Support Assistant if you need it. Just download and run the application and it will help with the software and drivers on your system at the time of purchase that might need updating.
If that does not fix the issue you might have to install the Recovery manager from here.
You can do a system restore. System restore will help if something automatically updated and did not go well on the Notebook.
When performing a System restore please note remove any and all USB devices. Disconnect all non-essential devices as they can cause issues.
I would be happy to assist if needed. How Do I Find My Model Number or Product Number?
    Please let me know.
    Thanks.

  • Restoring a Data Backup Made With HP Recovery Manager - Recovery Manager has Since Been Removed

My system (Pavilion dm4 notebook, Win 7 Home Premium x64)) is working fine but I would like to restore a data backup made with HP Recovery Manager. HP Recovery Manager has since been removed from the system and I do not have a recovery disk. I tried installing sp45415 which supposedly runs a silent installer for Recovery Manager, but it silently fails on my system. The accompanying notes say it is applicable to Windows 7 computers and to Pavilion dm1 and dm3. There is no mention of the dm4. Is there some trick to getting sp45415 to run correctly? Is there somewhere I can download an installation package for HP Recovery Manager that works on the Pavilion dm4? Is there any other tool that can restore the backup made by HP Recovery Manager?  Thanks!

If you uninstalled Recovery Manager it likely removed the recovery files in the recovery partition. When those files are removed-no download of Recovery Manager is going to install. You will need Recovery Media to boot from to restore the recovery partition and files. If you did not make Recovery Media you will have to order from HP. As for the files you are trying to restore- If this was a backup of personal files, photos, etc to external hard drive or dvds there should be one .exe file inside those files-probably Restore.exe or Recover.exe. Double clicking the .exe will extract the files to a folder on the hard drive of your laptop.

  • Dowload HP Recovery Manager

I have an HP G72-262NR. I would like to do a complete factory reset, but cannot locate HP Recovery Manager anywhere on my machine.
I have attempted the press-and-hold F10 and F11, but it only takes me to the Microsoft restore screen. I do not have have restore disks, but my original HP Restore partition is perfect and untouched. I just cannot access it without the HP System Recovery application.
I did manage to find the application or versions of it on the HP website, but none of them do anything and most do not even install correctly.
Where can I find the version of HP Recovery Manager that works with my system?

You need Recovery Media. You can order it from your support page in the list of drivers/software. Scroll down the list to see order option.

Had the C partition been split/shrunk to form a new partition previously?
Does disk management show the HDD as basic or dynamic? (Start>Right-click Computer>Manage>disk management on the left).
If it has been switched to dynamic (Windows does this automatically when more than 4 partitions are present on the disk), then the F11 recovery partition won't function until it is restored to basic, but I would like to confirm that is the scenario before providing those steps.
The Disk management shows that my HDD as Dynamic, what should i do then if this is the case and the possible solution to my problem?
please help me & Thank you for your time,

If you have more than 4 partitions you will need to delete the extra partition/partitions, then convert the hdd back to Basic.
Older versions of Partiton Wizard Free work:

  • My Acer Recovery Management is not working. How do I get a disc of factory settings?

I've tried to do a restore point on my computer after downloading software that it didn't like. Then when that failed to work, I was going to restore the computer do default setting. There is an bug in the namescript of the Acer Recovery Manger. I tried to download the Acer Recovery Manager online and there was an error. I even tried from the Acer Recovery Manger itself but it didn't want to do that either. I don't think that I have the discs for recovery (if I do they're in a box somewhere as I'm in the middle of moving). Is there some place online that I can create recovery discs?

Have you tried ALT+F10 at boot? by the way, if you want the original installation media:Acer recovery media
if you are in the US you can buy it:
