Recovery Manger backup not restoring user documents only public

I had a problem after a Windows Update on 14/02/15 - my laptop refuse to reboot, instead it sat with "Restarting Windows" for about 8 hours before I resorted to power down and restart.
It got worse from then on in...the laptop then refused to boot, kept going to to the Recovery Manager, but every option resultedin returning to the same page. Tried to use MS System Restore from within recovery manager bu it told me there were no system restore points.
I tried everything, but always vame back to Recovery has encountered an error, or no changes can be made, and still couldn't boot. So I used the Reset my files option and created a backup data set to a USB drive.
The reset option didn't work either - it only got me as far as the Windows logon screen and only listed administrator as a user, not my normal user accont.
Clicking on the administrator account and entering a password or even no password resulted in the message your administrator account has been disabled contact system admin.
I googled account recovery info, tried to enable the admin account using cmd but still no good - So I did I full recovery fresh install and proceeded to install all HP and Windows updates (except the 14/02/15 one)
I created my user accont using my MS credentials as before, then once everything was setup proceeded to use the Restore file from the USB backup. I had expected the backup to restore the items to their original locations, however this wasn't the case they are restored to new folder, but still in a directory tree so not too bad.
I was then horrified to find that whilst the backup file list showed all of the documents, images etc in my user account the files that are restored do not include the documents and images from my user account, only the public documents.
In the found file list of the backup, it lists my user account folder as found.000\my documents etc. when you explore the individual swm backup files - within them are the original files, unnamed and no file extensions so restoring them and adding file extensions manually for over 10,000 documents would be a nightmare.
Has anyone experienced the same issue - all I wanted was my document files to be restored and thought that using the Recovery Manager software to create what it told me was a successful backup would have achieved this. Especially as the found file list shows the docs I need.
So in a nutshell I have an apparently successful backup archive, that doesn't want to restore named user account documents...any ideas would be appreciated.

Moderator note: subject line adjusted for clarity.

    Hi,
not sure, what exactly the description should tell me, but I guess, that your scenario is like this:
    - you captured some RnR backup
    - made some changes to the system
    - restored the backup
and now the changes, that you have mde afte the backup was captured are gone.
If this is your case, then this is a correct situation.
The backup will restore the whole system back to the stage, as you selected, while it will remove/modify the packages, that have been changed/created  after the time, when the backup was captured.
In the stage, where you have restored the system, you had the chance to save some files, but as it looks, this did not happened.
Please correct me if I understod it wrongly.
    Cheers

Recovery Manager could not restore your computer.

    Hi:
You will either need to see if you can get a set of recovery disks for your PC by reading the info at the link below, or make your own W7 DVD.
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=bph07143&tmp_task=solveCategory&cc=us&dlc=en&lan...
    Here's how:
If you can read the 25 character Microsoft windows 7 product key, you can download plain Windows 7 ISO files to burn to a DVD for the version of windows that came installed on your PC, and that is listed on the Microsoft COA sticker on your PC's case.
Burn the ISO using the Burn as ISO option on your DVD burning program and burn at the slowest possible speed your program will allow. This will create a bootable DVD.
Use the 25 character product key on the PC to activate the installation.
The key will activate either a 32 or 64 bit installation.
Then go to the PC's support and driver page to install the drivers you need.
Link to the W7 ISO file downloads is below.

    Hello crossurmind.
What sorts of issues led up to the computer originally not booting? Were you getting a lot of blue screen errors?
The two items you posted from the error log seem to indicate that it is having trouble reading the hard drive and possibly the memory. After trying the restore it seems that it failed causing the boot section of the install to "not be found."
I think you should begin by using the built in tests for the hard drive and memory located in the BIOS. Follow this document to perform the hard drive test. All you'll have to do is repeat the process and select "memory" in order to perform the memory test. Make sure to post the result of both of these tests.
I will await the results; have a great day!

  • IPhone Backup not restoring correctly

Before I updated to iOS 7 I've created a backup in iTunes and restored my iPhone 4 to iOS 7 (because I had not enough space for an Over-the-Air Update)
after this I restored with an iTunes Backup after few hours it stops, all Photos were synchronized but 5 Apps and 70% of my Music Library weren't synchronized
If I unplug my iPhone and plug it again it will try to continue the Backup Synchronization but will fail at the same point
on my iPhone I cannot download Apps or Updates
I've already tried to restore it again
In the iTunes Log Files I've found in the "MDCrashReportTool.exe begins" bracket something that is maybe interesting:

Your backup is obviously corrupted or your internet connection is bad. Regardless, something is definitely wrong...your phone is not going to restore. Eject your phone, then:
See if you can force the phone into recovery mode:
Leave the USB cable connected to your computer, but NOT your phone, itunes running, press & hold the home button while connecting the USB cable to your dock connector, continue holding the home button until you see “Connect to iTunes” on the screen. You may now release the home button. iTunes should now display that it has detected your phone in recovery mode, if not quit and reopen iTunes. If you still don’t see the recovery message repeat these steps again. iTunes will give you the option to restore from a backup or set up as new. In your case, select setup as "new".

  • Officejet Pro 8620 will not print old documents, only newly created ones

When I use the driver designed for the printer I can only print documents (Word, Excel, and Publish 2007) that are new, as long as I have not copied and pasted or inserted sheets from previously created documents.  It will not print any Outlook 2007 emails but it prints PDF's fine. Also, the printer works fine with driver for deskjet 990c but limits my options on page size and the margin on the right side won't change and are way to big for most of my documents.  Any thoughts?

DBCC execution completed. If DBCC printed error messages, contact a user with
    System Administrator (SA) role.
how to restore mydb for this case? Help please.

Why did you restore the master database?  [This is not a normal step to take in recovering a user database.]
I've got no idea what you mean by 'system data is very slow' ... ???
The mydb database was probably marked suspect as a result of your restoration of the master database (eg, you used a wrong, or old/out-of-date, master db dump file), but to know for sure would require going back through the dataserver errorlog to look for details at the point where the mydb database was marked as suspect.
As for what to do to recover your mydb database ... it's probably easiest to just follow the same instructions provided in one of your earlier threads where this same topic was discussed/resolved.

  • HT201263 my iphone 4 went into recovery mode & will not restore. Unknown error 21 comes up on iTunes. Please can someone offer any ideas for a solution?

I have an iphone 4 nearly 2 yrs old. It has worked perfectly for that time. On Friday last (whilst away on holiday) I took the phone out of my pocket & it was lifeless. I tried switching it on, no joy, I tried the power/home button reset no joy. I plugged it into a mains charger & it came on but had a banner across the screen saying "verification required". I removed the charger & decided I would try again when I got home so I could connect to my PC & iTunes.
At home I went through the whole above process again but when I plugged it into the mains again it just had the Apple logo going on/off repeatedly. I plugged the phone into my PC & the apple logo appeared followed by the "connect to iTunes". In iTunes I get the banner "iTunes has detected an iPhone in recovery mode. You must restore this iPhone before it can be used with iTunes". So I click on "OK" the "Restore" then a banner asking if I'm sure I want to restopre the iPhone appears, press "Restore & Update". iTunes starts to remove the software, veryfies it with Apple & then another flag "The iPhone could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (21) which appears to be a security issue.
I thought the above problem was something to do with O2 because I picked up my new iPhone 4S last Tuesday but was unable to set it up until I got back from my holiday, O2 say it isn't anything they've done.
My question is has it happened to anyone & can anybody offer a solution, is it a hardware or software issue?

  • Iphone 3gs stuck in recovery mode, will not restore or update error 36

As the title states, I have a 3gs stuck in recovery mode.  Sort of worked earlier today, been having trouble with the battery draining fast/not holding charge goes into recovery mode on its own at times.  Have been able to force it out of recovery in the past but now it is just showing a USB cable going into an iTunes logo.  I can't get it to restore/update and before it got stuck it would not update or restore either.  Before you ask, I have no idea what iOS I have, this **** thing didn't start messing up until I plugged it into my computer.

Update:  I have uninstalled and re-downloaded iTunes, Tried with a different computer, tried with a different iTunes account.  None of these did anything for me.  I have no idea what to do next, nearest apple store is more than an hour away.

  • 5c in recovery mode will not restore or update - iTunes is current version - Completely lost and very frustrated :o(

My phone lately has been searching for service constantly, I would say that 80%of my day my phone is searching for service. There was a software update for I think 8.1.2, my phone didn't have enough storage, so I tried to do it through iTunes, when I did that, I got the connect to iTunes screen and couldn't get past it. So now I have put my phone into recovery mode and have run into nothing but issues. One iTunes will not let me update the software, secondly I can't restore it, I get a pop up saying something that my device isn't recognized. I'm completely lost and frustrated Need some suggestions...

    Hello sarmath,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
From your post I understand that your iPhone is in recovery mode, and while trying to restore it in iTunes you are receiving an error message.  While certainly a frustrating experience, there is troubleshooting you can do to get your iPhone back up in running order.  Without a specific error message, the article below is where you can start.  If possible, please provide the exact error message you receive when trying to restore your iPhone so I can give you some more in depth help.

  • Backup Not Restoring

I just bought a new iMac (17") to replace my old 2001 iMac. Before I went to the Apple store, I backed up my home folder to an external LaCie D2 hard drive using the Apple back up program.
I plugged everything in to the new machine and it seemed to work fine. However, when I open the Backup program and attempt to restore, the new computer crashes badly--spinning beach ball of death forever and ever, while an error message occasionally pops up telling me that this file or that can't be restored.
I've tried this several times and even just walked away for two hours to see if anything would happen (i.e., I was just being impatient). But no dice. The old data isn't that large, and is mostly music files (that of course I want to keep). It's only about 2 gigabytes worth of stuff altogether, so there's seems no reason for it to take so long.
Can anyone give me a clue of how to make this work?
    Thanks,
    Jeff
    iMac   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

    Hello again,
Perhaps this is a permissions issue. connect the external firewire drive. When the icon mounts on the Desktop, select it and press Command + I A "Get Info" window will appear. Look down where it says: Ownership & Permissions. Click the triangle at the left. If necessary click the lock icon. It will ask for your admin password. Make sure under Ownership & Permissions You can: Read & Write
Maybe it will acknowledge your Home folder now....

  • Black Screen, unable to come out of recovery mode, will not restore. Uhh...

Okay. So my phone has a completely black screen, and will not turn on or off. When I connect it to iTunes, it says it has detected an iPhone in recovery mode, and it must be restored. I attempt to restore it, and it goes through the entire restoration process (all the while with a totally black screen), and a window pops up that says that it was successfully restored, and to leave it plugged in, this message will close in 3,2,1.... and as soon as the window disappears, the process starts all over, with iTunes exclaiming that it noticed an iPhone in recovery mode, would I like to restore it?
I've tried basically everything there is to try, about eighteen thousand times a piece. This is really the worst possible time for my phone to break down, as I'm in the middle of a really important internship (which necessitates use of my phone), and I can't really get to an apple store.
    HELLLLLLPPPPP MEEEEEEEE.

Did you check your security software settings, to allow iTunes to contact Apple during the process?
Restore loop (being prompted to restore again after a restore successfully completes): This issue is typically caused by out-of-date or incorrectly configured third-party security software. Please followTroubleshooting security software issues if USB troubleshooting does not resolve this issue.

  • ICloud Backup not Restoring!

I got a new iPhone 6 and am trying to restore it with a backup of my iPhone 5S (iOS8) but every time I try it, it gets about a quarter of the way and fails with an error regarding losing internet connection. I have tried 3 different networks, including a fast one but this just caused the error to come up sooner, it gets to the same position on the status bar every time. I have even tried putting the phones mac address on the highest priority on my modems QoS list, kept tapping the screen to keep it awake and kept it connected to power. I really need to be able to restore this phone, has anyone else had this issue? How do you resolve such an issue?
    Thanks, Ajay

just because it's from the store and you got it today, doesn't mean it's up-to-date. It takes a while for iPhone to ship from China to the store where you purchased it and there has been an update about two weeks ago.
I'd recommend connecting the iPhone to iTunes on a computer and see if it prompts you to update
