Internet research produced evidence of a virus. Article described symptoms as prevents users and installed programs from accessing popular and security websites required for normal function, which belong to several antivirus companies, prevents programs
whose window title contains various text strings from being run, disables numerous computer functions, hides folders, makes antivirus programs inaccessible, and obtains information from the computer, such as IP address, name, geographical area, etc. Two items
specifically listed were found in the registry
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ SOFTWARE\ Microsoft\ Active Setup\DisableRepair = dword:00000001
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ SOFTWARE\ Microsoft\ Active Setup\JITSetupPage = file://%windir%\\web\\iejit.htm Phase =dword:00000006
Those entries were deleted. All items identified in the article where checked on computer. The following entries are questioned and advice is sought.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run\Amigo Disabled\hkcmds.exe (Graphics adapter)
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run\Amigo Disabled\igfxpers.exe (Graphics adapter)

Advice would be helpful.

Hi,
If you want to reset or refresh your Windows, then I'd like to share this link with you:
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-IN/windows-8/restore-refresh-reset-pc
the reason why I share it with you is that the reset and refresh situations are different depending on the system installed in your machine.
if the system does have a recovery partition, then it might be corrupted, I'm afraid that you eill need to contact the PC manufactiure for a DVD disk.
By the way, Windows 8\8.1 also has some built-in advanced recovery options, you can boot your PC into recovery console to perform some troubleshooting steps.

  • Can't create a recovery drive: "Some required files are missing"

    Hi guys,
Didn't have much luck in MS forums, maybe somebody here knows?
Whenever I try to create a recovery drive I find that "We can't create a recovery drive on this PC. Some required files are missing. To troubleshoot problems when your PC can't start, use your Windows installation disc or media."
    Uh?
Is a fresh Windows 8 x64 (RTM) installation. Only thing that I can think of is it has UEFI and Secure Boot enabled.
If I helped you, please give me some kudos! ^^

    Hey there dann,
What version of Windows 8 are you using? It appears you may need to the Window 8 disc to be able to create the recovery drive because it needs files that are not on your system. I found those part numbers for the Windows 8 recovery media for you.
    04T7196 - Win 8 64 Bit US
    04T7223 - Win 8 Pro 64 Bit US
Additional part numbers can be found here for all system parts and recovery media for you the Twist (s230u). If you contact service back they should be able to get the media sent to you. Good Luck.

  • Windows XP could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt - message

Hi there and apologies in advance if this is a daft or very frequently asked question.
Upon trying to boot up this Toshiba mini NB200 device last night we got this message:
Windows XP could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt: \WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEM.  it then asked me to press r at the forst screen to start a repair if I have the original set up cd.
The device had to be forced to shutdown previously as it hung when shutting down.
Now multiple reboots (including uncoupling/recoupling the battery) and resetting the settings from start up menu result in the same error message.
The device has no cd drive installed but previously Jerry Lippey (in 2011) saved the day by recommending purchase of a product recovery disc (R10804EN) after a 'flashing cursor issue' at logon.
Has anyone far more clever than I any thoughts (if we're able to borrow a portable cd drive) whether this disc may work again?
Windows XP was/is preinstalled on the PC (we havent the disc) and we've subsequently added MS Works. A total wipe of the device (as long as XP remains?) wont be too much hassle as we havent any data that we're too bothered about on it.
    Many, many thanks in advance

Windows XP could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt: \WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEM
Bad news. It means the System hive, which is the most important branch of the registry, is corrupt. Unless you have made provisions for this (we always do on XP systems), the fix is too complex for you to handle (KB307545).
I'm afraid you'll need to restore the hard disk to its original out-of-the-box contents using Toshiba recovery media as you did before. Do you have important files to rescue?

  • FAQ: My files are missing from the Library, or How to reconnect your images?

    What is the Lightroom Library?
The Library module of Lightroom can be used to arrange, codify, systemize, group, and classify your media. When you import your images and video into the Library, you are adding information about your files to a catalog. Your files remain on your hard drive where they were, unless you are importing them from a camera, in which case the files are copied to your hard drive to a location of your choosing.
    What is a Lightroom catalog?
The catalog is a database that stores information about the files you've imported into Lightroom. When importing a file, the first thing Lightroom does is collect the file's name and location on the hard drive. If the file has any attached compatible metadata, such as keyword tags, these are imported as well. You can use multiple catalogs and your catalogs can be carried forward from version to version.
Why does Lightroom say my files are missing?
Since the catalog database only stores information about your file, and not the file itself, if any of that information is changed outside of Lightroom, the connection to the file is lost. There are three ways this can happen: the file name is changed, the file location is changed, or the file has been deleted. If you need to rename, move, or delete a file, you can do so within the Library module, and then the connection is not lost.
    What is Reconnecting?
When a file has been renamed, moved, or deleted, the catalog database needs to be updated with that new information. The Reconnection process allows you to point out a file's new name, it's new location, or to delete the database entry on your file if the file no longer exists on your hard drive.

    Dude! Where are my photos?

Similar happened to me when i moved my iTunes library from XP to Win 8.1. Apps were in iTunes but would not sync to iPhone - could not find oritinal file. Win Xp and 8.1 have different file paths for My Documents and My Music. Locate the folder within iTunes called Mobile Applications. It should have a file with an IPA extension for each application. Add that folder to library. That will refresh the iTunes database so that it knows where to find the apps. I had to do that to my entire library (music, podcasts, etc)

  • Itunes cannot run because some of the required files are missing?

This morning when I turned on my computer my itunes was suddenly not working. When I double click the desktop icon to open it up, I get an error message that reads:
iTunes cannot run because some of the required files are missing. Please reinstall iTunes.
I searched the FAQ archive and still cannot find an answer to my problem.
THe last part of the error message says to reinstall itunes, but I cannot even get the corrupt version off. Is there anyway to save the music I have on here? Another user and I have separate iTUnes music, so a great deal of music will be lost, including things recently purchased.

Thank you so very much. I don't know why I didn't think of that but it is up and running fine now

  • I'm getting a message that says itunes cannot run b/c some required files are missing.  Please reinstall itunes.  I'm scared to, I don't want it to replace my current itunes and lose all my music!

Reinstalling iTunes simply replaces the application.  It shouldn't affect your media.  You do have backups, right?

  • Tried loading the latest version of itunes but the download would not complete. Now when I connect my phone to a usb i get an error stating required files are missing, reinstall itunes. I tried that but the reinstall keeps timing out?

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
The further information area has direct links to the current and recent builds in case you have problems downloading, need to revert to an older version or want to try the iTunes for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) release as a workaround for performance issues or compatibility with QuickTime or third party software.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there are also links to backup and recovery advice should it be needed.

  • FAQ: My files are missing from Elements Organizer, or How to reconnect your images?

    What is Elements Organizer?
The Elements Organizer can be used to arrange, codify, systemize, group, and classify your media. When you import your images and video into the Orgnizer, you are adding information about your files to a catalog. Your files remain on your hard drive where they were, unless you are importing them from a camera, in which case the files are copied to your hard drive to a location of your choosing.
What is an Elements Organizer catalog?
The catalog is a database that stores information about the files you've imported into Elements Organizer. If the file has any attached compatible metadata, such as keyword tags, these are imported as well. You can use multiple catalogs and yourr catalogs can be carried forward from version to version.
Why does Elements Organizer say my files are missing?

Anything besides reconnecting all the files, such as switching the drive letter  (if that is even possible)?
The easiest way to fix this is to change the drive letter. Here are instructions for Windows 7: http://pcsupport.about.com/od/windows7/ht/change-drive-letters-windows-7.htm
To prevent this from happening again, you can change the drive to some very high letter, like X:, and then it should remain constant. In Lightroom, right-click on the top level folder ,and select Find Missing Folder, and then point it to your X: drive.
I know I can "Import---Add to catalog"  all the photos from my external hard drive back into the catalog but I do have a question:
I won't address your question specifically, since re-importing is a very bad idea. A very bad idea. You will lose information that is not in the sidecar files, such as collection members, edit history, flags, virtual copies, stacks and a few other things. Just don't go there. Change the drive letters, as I explained.

  • Info.plist, Manifest.mbdb, Manifest.plist, Status.plist files are missing in backup folder

I restored my iphone 5 to the default setting.
Before restoring, I backed up the data in iphone but backup files have been corrupted.
I found that Info.plist, Manifest.mbdb, Manifest.plist, Status.plist files are missing in the folder where the back up files are located.
    (C:\user\user name\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup)
I copied these files from another backup in the folder of the corrupted backup, but it did not work on either itunes or third party software.
I even opened each of 4 files and modified the date, but still does not work.
I know I can change extension of each file in the corrupted backup folder, but there are more than 8000 files in that folder.
Is there any way to create the 4 files for the corrupted backup file?

  • Media file is missing or has the wrong timecode extents

PP CC (7.1) exporting timeline using XML. Import into Resolve 10.0.2 and ⅔ of the clips give the error "media file is missing or has the wrong timecode extents". Tried the same with AAF and luckily every video clip imported. However most the audio clips gave the same error.
The AAF audio clip error is a real problem too as ProTools can't import PP CC AAF. Have to use OMF with ProTools imports.
Any help or solutions would be greatly appreciated. I have read on another forum that this is believed to be an Adobe problem and that they are aware of it.

  • I changed drives and consolidated my library, but many files are missing

I recently changed my the hard drive on which my iTunes media were stored. I followed instructions on this page:
iTunes for Mac: Moving your iTunes Media folder
However, after consolidation I discovered that quite a lot of folders and files are missing from the new created file. The missing songs are still in my library, and when I try to play them, I get the exclamation mark and have to direct iTunes to the original files on the old hard drive.
I've restarted everything and tried to consolidate again and again, but the files remain missing.
    What should I do?
    All advice gratefully received.

I am not doing it in ITunes, but i did down load the song from ITunes.  I loaded the song on to my Nano, but in my menu selections it doesn't show the song or the artist in any search format.  However, when i plug in my nano to my PC I see the Nano library on my PC drive listings and that song and artist are there.  I can click on the song and it will play in Windows media on my work PC.  I did notice that the format for most all the songs in my library on my Nano are MPEG - 4 audio Files.
    Thanks for your help, Mel

  • "Clip's Media Files are Not Currently Available" Alert Message

I am making an video project for school and so I put the video clips (JPEG) into my iPhoto Library and I put them together as a project. A few days later I went back to work on the project and I'm getting an alert symbol on the video clips that says "This clips media files are not currently available" when I hover over it. Does anyone know why?
Also, I need to export the project as an AVI or MPEG file and when I click 'Export Using Quicktime' an error message pops up that says "Missing Media... The following Event used in this project is not currently available: iPhoto Videos - English Video Poetry Project - The portions of the project which reference this Event will show black frames." Is this because of the alert that says my media files are not available?
    Thank you!

This happens if you either delete your original films or rename the event in iPhoto. If you deleted the original film, you're stuck. If you just renamed it in iPhoto, the fix is simple: quit iMovie, rename the album in iPhoto back to whatever it was (whatever it says in the error message - in your case "English Video Poetry Project") then open iMovie. It should now be ok, and while iMovie is open, you can rename your album (in iPhoto) to whatever you like.
Note: if you rename your album, iMovie will cope but won't automatically save the change, so it will break next time you load it. To fix that, make some small change to the movie. Exporting it might work, haven't tried.

  • Tried to delete an FM book, but won't delete; however files are missing

I'm using RH7 in TCS1 in Windows Explorer.
I imported FM book files by reference into my project. I had forgotten to check abook file prior to import and didn't notice that the book file did not have the necessary graphics.  So I fixed the file, then tried to update the book file in RH7.  The graphics did not import into RH, so I thought I would start over from scratch and delete the book file in RH.  It will not delete and causes RH to crash.  The delete option is available, but it doesn't delete them.
So I went into Windows Explorer and deleted the files from there.  Then I get a message that says files are missing, and that I need to delete them from Project Manager which is what I was trying to do in the first place.
Can someone please help me delete these files?

Just an update to this posting.  I did not have the latest RoboHelp patches installed.  For some reason, RH wouldn't let me install
them.  So I had to have a complete uninstall of RH, then reinstall it.  Once I did
that I installed all of the patches and my book files were deleted.
