Recovery Not Completely Deleting All Files

I wanted to have a clean start but after two recovery tries I am unsuccessful.  The first time I tried to use the recovery from my hard drive but programs I had installed are still showing up and even files such as pictures and music are still there.  I decided to try the recovery from the DVDs I created but came out with the same result.
How can I do a complete wipe and have a clean start?
Qosmio X505-880 with Windows 7 64-bit
Thanks!

I followed the process exactly as specified in the user manual (only very slight variances between exactly what it said & what was on the screen).
The first time from the internal drive:
- Press and hold the 0 (zero) key on your keyboard while powering on the computer.
- A warning screen appears, stating that when the recovery is executed all data will be deleted and rewritten. Click Yes to continue.
- When the Toshiba Recovery Wizard opens and the Selecting a process screen displays, select Recovery of Factory Default Software and then click Next.
- The Recovery of Factory Default Software screen appears. Select Recover to out-of-box state.
- Click Next. A confirmation message displays reminding you that all data will be lost during the recovery process. Be sure to save your work to external media before proceeding.
- Click Next to begin the recovery. When the process is complete, a message displays indicating that the internal storage drive has been recovered.
The second time from the recovery DVDs:
- Insert the first recovery DVD into your optical drive and power on the computer.
- When the initial screen displays, press F12. The boot menu appears.
- Using the arrow keys, select the DVD option and press Enter.
- The Selecting a Process screen appears. Select Toshiba Recovery Wizard and then click Next.
- A warning screen appears, stating that when the recovery is executed all data will be deleted and rewritten. Click Yes to continue.
- When the Toshiba Recovery Wizard opens and the Selecting a Process screen displays, select Recovery of Factory Default Software and then click Next.
- Selected "Recover to out-of-box state—If you want to recover the original factory image (returning the computer to its out-of-box state)."
- Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the recovery process.
- When the process is complete, a message displays, indicating that the drive has been recovered.
Apparently Toshiba can't figure it out either... Been waiting since this morning for a senior technician to call me back as their first line of "tech support" is completely useless...  Very disappointed with the customer support- or lack there of- I've received so far!

  • I Can Not Completely Delete A File In iTunes,Even After Complete Search

I need to completely clean out iTunes and all Album pictures. Some where there is a folder or file, that keeps putting back exactly what I have erased. I need to make my Itunes and all songs new, but the artwork always comes back, even when Ii erased the pictures. What file do I need to take out of the system or my home folder. Do not tell me the album artwork folder. Thats been done 50 times.
I have deleted all of Itunes files, preferences,(All). When I re install iTunes and put my music back in all the music artwork comes back. I deleted back up,
I want to restart fresh and no album artwork.

    Thanks ! but
No,because the images are from me. somewheres in the library in home folder or in the system library is a hitten file or a prerence, that keeps building my iTunes as it was before. I have completely deleted all and turned off all for the Apple Store. I have deleted iTunes and all related to it about 51 times now. I always find folders after in the artwork folder with many folders and a lot of numbers.
I sure hate to erase the whole hard drive. That file is not saying anything about iTunes either. I deleted the pictures for the albumns. Then I reinstall iTunes, went off line and still that crap comes up. It wont let me do a new iTunes.

    Dear all,
We have just undeployed all 5.2 components in order to install version 5.3 (SP5). When deploying the new SCA files we get errors and it ends that just one out of four gets files deployed (AE), JSPM alterts that some objects already exists:

The easiest soluiton is probably to re-install NW. But is there any way completly delete all old 5.2 content?
    Thx,

    Vit,
Unless you just really want a completely clean system to start on, reinstalling Netweaver is unnecessary.  You just need to follow these steps to clear out all 5.2 data:
    1) Undeploy all GRC 5.2 applications using the SDM tool
    2) Remove any remaining GRC applications from the Visual Administrator tool --> Server Node --> Deploy --> Applications --> Remove button
    3) Use the following database cleaning script:

  • Photoshop CC has completely deleted my file?

I have been working on a file for the last few weeks and save on a very regular basis and also have the autosvae option selected in preferences but Photoshop has crashed and completely deleted the file off the face of the earth???
I am working on a very important project and have a design session very soon and am now left with no .psd file to work with? I have looked for it everywhere and there isn't anything?
    C:\Users\Name\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CC\AutoRecover\FOLDER IS EMPTY!!
ALL I HAVE BEEN LEFT WITH IS THE psED89.tmp file!
Very disapointed about this, is there anything that can be done?

    sishamDSS wrote:
I do have a backup strategy in place but have lost a mornings work, I don't know anyone who saves their files in 2 places every 5 mins??
This won't help you now, but I use Shadow Protect which records incremental backups every 15 minutes, so you would be able to retrieve the last saved version of the file further back than the last Shadow Protect backup.   In fact you might have something like that in place.
We see a lot of unhappy people here who had things happen like a system crash part way through a save, which trashed the file being saved at that time.  It figures that a big project is more likely to crash the system as well.  So I never go more than an hour without saving to a new file name.  I can't say that this has ever saved me grief, but knowing it is possible is way too scary to take a chance.
I also hadn't thought about mounting my Shadow Protect backup to access old data before your post, so I thank you for starting the thought process that got me there.
This link is not really relavent as it refers to mounting an image file, but it would get you on the right track if anyone felt like researching it.

  • Rescue and Recovery Crashes While Deleting Backup Files

I've seen many threads in regards to Rescue and Recovery crashing while deleting backup files, but no solutions were ever mentioned!  I have a T400 (Vista SP2, Intel T9400, 4GB RAM, 300 GB HD) and was quickly running out of disk space.  After finding mention of Rescue and Recovery I was able to delete some of the backups but not all.  For example I have one from 2008 (18GB) but it won't seem to delete.  I let it sit for quite a while (over night) but it still didn't delete.  Does anybody have a solution for how to get R&R to delete this files?  Or how to delete these files manually?  Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
in this situation I assume, you are using the GUI for the deletiong of the RnR Backups.
What I always prefer is the rrcmd.exe which you can use with the "delete" whicht so that the backups that you want to will be deleted.
    Cheers

  • Can I delete all files and users (including admin account) without re-installing SL?

I have a 1st generation Macbook Air, running Snow Leopard 10.6.8.  Just bought myself a new MBA, want to sell the old one (privately, not soliciting here).
The original install disks were Leopard.  I bought a family pack SL and upgraded the MBA at that point.  Earlier this year I sold my old Mac Mini (when I upgraded) and included the SL install disks with that sale (stupid of me).
Now I want to sell the old MBA.  Ideally, I'd have a clean install on SL on it, minus all previous files and accounts.  I've done that before when selling old computers, reformatted / erased the HD, then reinstalled the OS.  But I don't have the SL disk anymore, and I don't really want to pay for it just to prep this notebook for sale.
    AFAICT, my options are:
wipe the HD and reinstall Leopard (the only OSX disks I have).  Whoever buys it from me would need to upgrade to SL themselves, and from there to Lion if they want.
somehow try to delete all files and users without touching the current install of SL.  I'm not terribly worried about security of what little information is on the MBA (nothing important to me), so I don't mind trashing files and then emptying trash instead of wiping the HD block by block.
Any ideas for how to do #2?  I can trash all files/folders under /user, uninstall all applications and delete their folders from Library, uninstall all browsers except Safari and wipe the history from that...
Is there other stuff I should be deleting?  plist files, maybe?  I'm leery of messing around too much and disrupting the install of the underlying OS.
Can I also delete the admin account (or rename it "admin" with a generic default password?)?
    Any other suggestions?  Thanks.

Trashing files you have created is relatively easy. Getting rid of an account is a bit harder. Trashing the .plist files, etc., that may contain personal info is a lot harder, and there is always the risk that you will miss something.
Best, and easiest, and customary, is to do option #1 - wipe the drive and re-install the original OS from the original disk set. The receiver of the machine can then decide which OS they want to upgrade it to, and purchse accordingly.
The original disk set for that machine should be included with it when it is sold.

This article contains the only thing that worked for me.  I also had to sign out of iCloud and uninstall it.  Then I had to delete all files and folders from all of those applications that were under Program Files, Program Files x86, Program Data and Users.  My iPhone 4 will now sync with iTunes both in its USB-connected  mini dock and over Wi-Fi.  It's unfortunate (negligent programming on the part of Apple?) that the upgrade to iTunes 11 did not remove all of those files as part of the upgrade process.

I am having the same issue....Same address for years - same as USPS - I tried 5 times (3 macs and 2 iPhones) and now i have 5 CHARGES for 1.00 each on my credit card. I took the credit card info off so they don't charge me anymore. How can they charge me yet still not allow me to download free updates and say I have an invalid address? I'm sure I will spend weeks or months trying to get a credit out of these incompetent idiots.

I do not recommend reformatting your harddrive and reloading your software.  This is a Windows thing. On an older mac it may be difficult to find all your software again.
Best to have greater than 2gig of free space.  Many posters to these forums state that you need much more free space: 5 gig to 10 gig or 10 percent of you hd size.

Be careful when deleting files. A lot of people have trashed their system when deleting things. Place things in trash. Reboot & run your applications. Empty trash.
Go after large files that you have created & know what they are.  Do not delete small files that are in a folder you do not know what the folder is for. Anything that is less than a megabyte is a small file these days.

For a PPC computer, I recommend a firewire drive.
    Has everything interface:
    FireWire 800/400 + USB2, + eSATA 'Quad Interface'
    save a little money interface:
    FireWire 400 + USB 2.0

Install or Reinstall Mavericks or Mountain Lion from Scratch
Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
OS X Mavericks- Erase and reinstall OS X
OS X Mountain Lion- Erase and reinstall OS X
OS X Lion- Erase and reinstall Mac OS X
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible
because it is three times faster than wireless.
