Computer crashed and a new hard drive installed.

I totally agreed with you.  I called them to help me to start the recovery, and they said they have to charge me $35.    Just tell me which buttom to click a small step.  They do not supply with the procedure so that they can charge you everytime you need them.   I am not going to buy and Toshiba products.   I have a HP, even my warrant expired, they still helped me to start the recovery procedure.   Please spread this message.

  • [S210 Touch] One key recovery not working

I have a 1.25 year old S210 Ideapad Touch.  I made a 100GB partition with EaseUS and had no problem with onekey recovery.  I tried to merge that empty partition with my C drive using EaseUS software but it did not work saying there were errors.  After that attempt One Key did not work.  Tried to open One Key with compter turned off, error message said damaged partition. Next I used Control panel Administrative Tools: Disk Management to return C drive to almost its original size less 350 mb. one key still did not work.  I reinstalled one key from Lenovo website and still did not work. Still indicated damage partition.  What can I do now?

  • Command R Recovery Not Working

Dear All, I'm a little stuck.  There's something wrong with my OSX (Mavericks 10.9.5) that is stopping me from booting in the regular way ( I get stuck @ the grey screen), Booting and using Command R does nothing (tried many times for long periods), thankfully booting and holding just Option manages to get me in (via selecting my hard drive etc) and thus i've now been able to back everything up... good... So now i run Disc Utility / Verify and am told i have disc problems and i need to reboot / command R to get to the recovery centre... hmmmm nope as the command r step is the bit thats not working.... What please do i do ??  I read about internet recovery but that seems to be triggered from within command r... I really don't want to simply reformat my hard drive and "see what happens" when i then reboot as hoping i get redirected to internet recovery seems like a crazy option.... Any guidance please ???... Basically how do i get to the recovery area without rebooting using Command R ?

Genius !... Thank you Barney... Booted via the web, tried to repair, couldn't but let me erase my hard disc and reinstall a fresh version of OSX.... 8 minutes to go on the download then it will need a thorough update but looking good right now !... a painful day but many thanks !

  • Photoshop Recovery not working

Hello, I need SERIOUS HELP!!! My photoshop autosave IS NOT WORKING. Last time it crashed, when I re-opened photoshop, the 'recovered-digital painting' DID NOT LOAD! I tried uninstalling the program than re-downloading it immidiately afterwards but that did not solve the issue.
I know it did not solve the issue because when I created a test digital painting, waited 15 mins, than did more edits, waited another 5 mins than use taskmanager to shut down photoshop, than re-opened photoshop the test did not re-appear as 'test digital painting - recovered'.Autosave has been set to 5 minutes. Still does not work.
I NEED HELP PLEASEEE IM BEGGING YOU!!!! WHAT CAN I DO!!!!

When Photoshop CS6 and or CC is installed properly and  your user id Photoshop preference File handling has Automatically Save Recovery Information check
there should be a user id Photoshop recovery folder for each version of Photoshop autorecovery is enabled for.  The location varies for OS versions and Photoshop installation configurations.  You user ID also needs to have write rights to these folders.  Locate them and make sure you can write to them. These folders are empty normally. On My Windows 7 systems  I see mine are:
    "C:\Users\John J McAssey\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CC\AutoRecover" and
    "C:\Users\John J McAssey\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS6\AutoRecover"

  • Recovery not working, Windows now won't start

I have recently received a Yoga Thinkpad. I was testing the recovery process and the laptop will no longer boot.
The USB recovery drive I'm using was created on the same laptop, prior to this problem. I disabled secure boot, so that I can boot off it. The recovery process appears to work, but when the laptop reboots, it doesn't see Windows on the HDD and so boots from the recovery drive again. When resetting the PC, selecting "keep the existing partitions" doesn't work - Windows complains about a required drive partition being missing. However, diskpart is showing that the all the partitions are still there (Windows, Windows recovery environment, recovery partition, plus one called SYSTEM_DRV).
I tried installing a retail copy of Windows, but it won't install since the disk is GPT (and I'm not willing to try completely resetting the disk yet). I've tried restoring the factory keys in the BIOS. I *haven't* yet tried resetting to Setup Mode.
What else can I try to get the laptop going again?
I'm guessing if I delete all the the partitions on the disk, recovery might work, but I wanted to check in here first to see if anyone can advise. I've been using the Ultimate Boot CD to have a look around, but not make any changes, since I'm not sure if the tools support GPT disks. I guess dropping to the command-line and using diskpart will do the trick.

  • Satellite L650-12Q - Toshiba HDD Recovery not working

    Toshiba Satellite L650-12Q
    Windows 7 64bit
I am attempting to re-install Windows using the Toshiba HDD Recovery software on my hard disc in order to restore the computer to factory settings.
I followed the procedure to do this in System Recovery Options, but received the following message:
"The recovery of the operating system is impossible!
Could not find HDD Recovery folder on second drive of the first hard disk. There is no valid HDD Recovery environment on this computer."
    Further details:
Prior to doing the above, I backed up the system and files and folders using AOMEI Backupper. I then made the mistake of merging partitions C: D: and E:, E: contained the HDDR files.
After trying the above recovery and receiving the message above, I re-installed the system file I had backed up to an external hard disc, which resulted in a copy of C: drive and E: drive containing the HDDR files.
Unfortunately, when I tried to recover the OS, the same message appeared.
I then tried to use a System Restore disc I had created a few weeks ago, but found that for some reason that CD is blank.
The good news is that the computer still works - slowly - and the HDDR files appear to be still there but, for some reason, inaccessible.
What are my options? I want to go back to initial factory settings so that I can start afresh and re-install the programmes and files that I want. (I have backed up all my files and have installation discs for programmes.)
If the worst comes to the worst and I have to buy a Windows 7 disc (if that is still possible - I don't want Windows 8), would it be possible to install that on to this computer and would it give me a clean install without any of the rubbish that is presently cluttering up my computer?
Thank you for reading, and I should be grateful for any advice you can offer.

    Thanks for your help.
I have since found some recovery discs (3x DVD-R) that I created on 18 July 2010, when I first bought the laptop. For some reason, however, these do not work.
    I followed the published procedure:
    1. Load first recovery disc.
    2. Turn off computer's power.
    3. Whilst holding down F12, turn on computer.
    4. When "Toshiba leading innovations" appears, release F12.
    5. Use 'up' and 'down' cursor keys to select CD-ROM icon from menu.
    6. Follow menu.
After item 4, "Boot menu" appears, giving options HDD, eSATA, CD, etc. I selected "CD", but nothing further happens.
It looks to me like things are worse than I thought, but on the positive side the computer still works.
Is there anything more that I can do?

  • Toshiba HDD recovery not working

I want to do HDD recovery from Windows 10, I have put all my files on other partitions, I hoped to see & do "Recover without changing the hard drive partitions" but when I turned my PC on while holding 0, It didn't open any TOSHIBA hdd recovery software...This is how it looks and option  - system image recovery requests that I use windows installation DVD .... BTW I have recovery partition in this computer: I just got into Boot Menu while pressing F12 during start-up, clicked on HDD recovery, it asked YES/NO, I pressed Yes, but it just went to this screen again - http://www.mytoshiba.com.au/file/res...File_23358.jpg My PC is kind of ruined right now after restarting... my primary system boot partition is now as RAW file system, I don't know how this happened. But at least I still got my backup partition still on this HDD(I'm seeing this on advanced options>cmd>diskpart). Boot menu > HDD recovery just goes to that windows advanced Options page. If HDD recovery worked, everything would be ok, because it could recover only C partition. But now i can't even boot it into windows where i could make recovery dvd's, but I don't know if I could use them because toshiba recovery mode is not working.. Can anyone help? this is really important.

It didn't open any TOSHIBA hdd recovery software...
The Choose-an-option screen is the recovery environment for Windows 8/10. Get used to it.
I have put all my files on other partitions
Best to put them on external media, of course.

I'm just used this HP Pavilion x2 10 inch tablet only 4 DAYS then came out this problem. Now its windows crashed even i've done the recovery. I can't reinstall windows 8.1 pro on it due to can't boot from usb drive even though i've change the UEFI setting and disable the secure boot. This tablet really waste my time and money. Totally disappointed on this product.

  • Macbook Pro won't boot up, recovery not working

A few days ago my macbook pro crashed. it was being unresponsive for about 5 minutes so i turned it off and on again (ive done this a lot). except this time when i went to turn it back on i saw the grey folder with a question mark on it. i looked a lot into what to do but am currently stuck because i have tried everything ive seen and nothing has worked.
i went into internet recovery holding option when starting up because internet recovery was the only option it provided.
i have tried to install a new copy of OSX but when i get to the screen where it asks where i want to install it to, there are no locations for me to chose from.
i have tried going into disk utility but it doesnt give me the option to select my main disk, only the recovery one it just downloaded.
it seems that the computer is completely disconnected from the operating system.
I believe the problem might have something to do with me going a long time without updating software (i know it's stupid but i have a hatred for constant updates when the version i use works just fine)
I need to keep my files from this computer, it is absolutely crucial that my hard drive is not wiped.
is there a way to back up my files from this stage? i don't have a backup from before it crashed (sorry for not expecting my computer to just fail on me)
I have had this computer for less than a year.
so the main thing I need is to recover my files, even if it requires physically taking the hard drive out of the laptop to recover them on another computer.
    any help is appreciated, thanks.
(p.s. I forget exactly which OS it was on, but i believe it was Mavericks, not sure which version of it)

  • Recovery not working, system not supported

I have an x205-s9800 and after upgrading from vista to windows 7, I decided to go back to vista cause there seems to be no fix to the nvlddmkm blue screen.
Now I get this error when I run the system recovery discs that came with the laptop when I purchased it,
    Error: 03-FFFF-0000
    This Model is not supported.
The discs I have hadn't even been open before, they are practically new.
I replaced the ram from 3gb to 4gb ocz ram and the HD to a seagate momentus 500gb, is this why its telling me the model is not supported?
I was also getting this error when I tried to run the Toshiba Software installer when I upgraded to windows 7.
If someone can help me how to make the recovery discs that came with this laptop work, I'd really appreciated it, Thanks in advance.

The restore discs should work despite those system changes.

  • Recovery not working due to new hd

i replaced my HP pavilion dv6-3150se notebook computer's 640 GB hard drive with a 500GB hard drive due to a SMART error.
when i am trying to recover my system using the disks, i get a message saying "THE HARD DISK IS SMALLER THAN THE FACTORY HARD DISK, HENCE FACTORY RESTORE CANNOT BE DONE"..
i downgraded to a smaller HD since i don't use much space on my laptop and hence considered it a waste of money buying a larger hard disk.
    pls help..

    Hi,
Try the following method to reinstall Windows as it will get around the problem of your Recovery Discs not liking the smaller HDD.
If you have ( or can borrow ) a retail Windows 7 installation disc that is exactly the same version as your OEM installation - ie if your notebook came with Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit this is the exact retail version you would need.
If you don't have access to a retail disc, you can create an installation disc yourself - just download the correct Disc Image from the link below and use an application such as ImgBurn to burn the ISO correctly to a blank DVD CD - a guide on using ImgBurn to write an ISO to a disc is Here.  These Images are clean and from a well-respected source, however there are only limited versions available.
    Windows-7 sp1-iso-official-32-bit-and-64-bit
Use the disc to perform the installation, enter the Windows activation key found on the underside of your notebook when requested and when the installation has completed, use the 'Phone Method' detailed in the link below to activate the OS - this method supported by Microsoft and is popular with people who just want a clean installation of Windows 7 without the additional software load normally bundled with OEM installations.

Any additional drivers you may need can be found Here.

  • Need to wipe hard drive, Lion Recovery not working

I've been having problems with this mac and want to completely wipe my hard drive and only put on the Lion operating system, my itunes music, iphoto folders, and a few folders that are already backed up on an external hardrive. My cd-rom drive doesn't work, so I need to use the online Lion Recovery to safely reinstall lion after I clear my hard drive. When I restart and hold down CMD-R, it doesn't bring me to the Lion Recovery/Disk Utility window. It only shuts down after a while. I've tried this many times and I'm not sure why I can't get into the partition so I can reinstall Lion without using a disk. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also, if you could tell me exactly how to put on the select items above (not an entire system backup) that would be great. I just need a complete computer makeover because it's a 2008 macbook pro and its been slowing down a lot. Thanks!

...it's a 2008 macbook pro and its been slowing down a lot.
Well by the sounds of it you have a hardware problem of some sort, perhaps not.
Your going to need a friends Lion Mac and Admin access to do this trick to copy thier Recovery HD to a USB thumb drive
    http://osxdaily.com/2011/08/08/lion-recovery-disk-assistant-tool-makes-external- lion-boot-recovery-drives/
    https://support.apple.com/kb/dl1433
Once you have that you can option boot off the Recovery USB and wipe your entire drive (use the Disk Utiilty > Erase and one selection from the right to securely erase and map off failiing sectors, takes longer but better for your drive and data), then install Lion from Apple's servers with your Apple ID and password.
Setup with the same User name (different password ok) if you want to preserve your iTunes playlists, next hook up your storage drive and return files into their old Music, Pictures etc folders.
No settings will be transfered or anythng else, you set up everything fresh and new again, aka "Erase and Fresh install method" of #20 here
Step by Step to fix your Mac
Later you should be looking at making a option key bootable clone with Carbon Copy Cloner to another blank external drive, this way you can boot off of it and reverse clone in case of problems.

I wiped my hard drive and installed Ubuntu. Now I need Vista back to use some testing software for my state bar exam. Rescue and Recovery discs as well as f11 system restore keep giving me a startup error. Is Vista gone for good? Lenovo wants to charge me $45 to send discs that will work. Can get an an .iso for this version (Vista Business 64 SP1, I think) somewhere and use my product activation key on the bottom of the PC? • HDD Recovery not working

I purchased a NB205-N312/BL with XP back in January 2010. Ever since then I've had MAJOR issues with it, to the point where I'm going to just throw the whole thing in the trash!!! It started with programs not responding constantly and crashing, then when I turn it on, it immediately goes to the start windows in safe mode (and the other options) screen. Now, when turned on, it goes into a screen that states use "earlier version of windows" or "windows setup". Thats it all I get. If I chose either one, it tells me a file is missing or corrupt.
I looked at the owners manual (from a computer that actually works) about HDD recovery. It states to press and hold "0" when powering on; I should get a HDD recovery screen, which I never do. When I release the "0" or press any key, the bottom of the screen flashes "HDD Recovery mode" and goes right back into the "earlier version of windows" or Windows setup" option.
Am I doing something wrong? I bought this thing just to tune my vehicle (it has to use XP and I didnt even get the chance to hook it up) and surf the net. The only downloaded program was iTunes for my iPhone.

    Hi
The HDD recover partition is not hidden
In my case the image files where placed on the second partition in Toshiba HDD folder.
However, fact is that the HDD recover could be started pressing F8 button, then choosing option called Repair my Computer and in new window the option HDD Recovery should be chosen.
If this is not possible, then you will need to recover the notebook using the Recover disk.
I assume such disk has not been created in the past. Right? You could create the disk using recover disk creator which is preinstalled on all Toshiba notebooks.
If this is not possible then you have to order the disk here:

  • ICal Service Data Recovery not working.

    Hi,
After upgrading to 10.5.4 (not sure yet if this is the cause), my iCal service stopped working, with CPU on the Xserve getting maxed out whenever it ran, as per the earlier post in this forum. Following suggestions in that thread, I used a Time Machine backup I have of the server HD to recover the most recent copy of the Library/Calendar/Documents folder using the following command,so as to preserve permissions and ownerships etc:
    sudo ditto -V -rsrc <source directory> <destination dir>
The data copied across fine, and when I point the iCal service to use the new data location and start up the service, all the data is there, but no new events can be created, as the client app (mail 3.0) reports...
Request for "New Event" in "James Glendinning" in account "James Glendinning" failed.
    The server responded with
    "HTTP/1.1 500 Internal Server Error"
Looking at the error log for the iCal service, it's full of stuff I don't understand, which is logged as soon as the service is started whilst pointing to the new data location:

I'm particularly perplexed by the last line, which indicates that ....principals/ _uids__ location does not exist, when I can clearly see it from within finder, and it appears to have all the permissions intact.
Is there a way I can get the iCal service to keep all the calender entry data it has, and rebuild any of the other bits it needs on the fly? Or any other ideas at all?

OK, great, I tried that on the busted data location, and it still didn't work, I think there's some corrupt dblite files of something. In any case, I've given up, instead I've created a new store, and set the permissions as you've described, and am rebuilding each calendar individually, which is a pain, but I needed it working asap.
I'll see how the new data location holds up with this new data and post results.
    Thanks for your help....

  • HP Pavilion DV7-6190ED Windows 7 64-Bit Recovery not working

    Hello,
I just bought a new (used as showmodel) laptop at a local store.
But I'm having a problem with the recovery now.
    What happened:
When I first booted my laptop and after it started windows, I saw some flickering pixels on the screen. I did some research on that and looked at the computer, and found out that the drivers were conflicting with eachother. After that problem I tried a factory restore and removing and installing some drivers, this didn't work. After that I tried restoring with a minimalistic image (sorry if I misspelled), but when the restoring was complete it said that the restoring wasn't finished. My problem now is that it won't boot Windows anymore, but directly boots into recovery manager. I'm sure that the recovery partition exists and I don't have a recovery DVD.
I would be happy if someone is able to help me.

    Hi:
From what you wrote it appears you will either have to purchase a recovery DVD set by reading the info at the link below.
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=bph07143&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en
Or....make your own plain Windows 7 installation disk by following the instructions below (or do it temporarily until your recovery disks arrive).
If you can read the 25 character Microsoft windows 7 product key, you can download plain Windows 7 ISO files to burn to a DVD for the version of windows that came installed on your PC, and that is listed on the Microsoft COA sticker on your PC's case.
Burn the ISO using the Burn ISO option on your DVD burning program and burn at the slowest possible speed your program will allow. This will create a bootable DVD.
Use the 25 character product key on the PC to activate the installation.
The key will activate either a 32 or 64 bit installation.
Then go to the PC's support and driver page to install the drivers you need.
Link to the W7 ISO file downloads is below.
