Recovery of Data - Flashback

Dear,
Yesterday(05/08/2010) i have mistakenly inserted duplicate values in the tables, every value is inserted 2 times in a table.
so upto my knowledge the data were correct upto 30/Jul/2010.
hence i need to recover the data from this 30th Jul date.
can you say me the query which will be useful for me.
Thanks in advance.
Stalin Ephraim

or remove the duplicate values from the table, using a DELETE statement.
something along the lines of
delete from tbl
where rowid in (select rid from
(select rowid, row_number() over (partition by <common_columns> order by null) rn
     from tbl
where rn > 1
);-- not tested

  • MaxDB Recovery - Table Data Recovery Failed

    Dear All,
I'm trying to simulate the backup and recovery functionality of MaxDB by using Database Studio.
This is what I've done so far,
    1) Create dummy table with data inside.
    2) Performed a complete backup.
    3) Performed log backup.
    4) Removed all the data within the dummy table.
    5) Performed a complete recovery of data and log backup.
However, the table is still empty after recovery.
Does this means that the recovery failed? Or the backup?
There is no error message or whatsoever during the backup and recovery.
I did some research and found some information about MaxDB recovery considerations, whereby it states that "recovering individual tables is not possible."
    Is that what causes it?
    Please advise further.
    Many thanks in-advance!

    > I did some research and found some information about MaxDB recovery considerations, whereby it states that "recovering individual tables is not possible."
    >
    > Is that what causes it?
Nope. Single table recovery is not supported by any relational database - at least not the way that you'd like it to.
The reason for that is not the technical implementation of data storage, but simple the way how relational databases have their data distributed over all the tables.
Due to normalization you usually have a huge number of dependencies between the rows of multiple tables.
Joined together these rows form your application information.
If you would restore just one table, the dependencies between this  table and all the other tables would be broken.
The database management software cannot repair it so you would have to manually ensure that the restored table still fits to the rest of the database.
THAT is the reason why you always restore databases and not tables.
If you're thinking now: Wait, what about things like Oracles table flashback/flashback query then?
Well, these features do produce the mentioned inconsistencies as well, if applied to only one of the tables.
And they are actually no recovery tools.
    Hope that clarifies your question.
Always try to get your database back to a consistent state!
    regards,
    Lars

I'm concerned about possibility of recovery personal data after applied "Erase All Content and Settings" option on an iPhone or iPad. Does Apple guarantee that no one can recover my personal data after I deleted & reset my old iPhone by the "Erase All Content and Settings" option ?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
You can safely delete the old back up now.

  • Recovery of data after ASM Disk fails

    OS : Sun Solaris
    DB: 10.2.0.3 RAC (2 Nodes)
Are there any steps to be followed for recovery of data after ASM Disk fails?
We are using a 2 Node RAC with ASM normal redundancy. Say if one disk of a diskgroup fails, then what steps we need to follow to make sure that Database is aware of the new disk ?

you said you are using NOrmal Redundancy, which is 2 way mirroring. So with that said, your data should be fine as one only disk has failed and got mirrored. So once you replace to disk, oracle should pick that up and move to data back into it....BUT NOT QUIET SURE, just an opinion.

  • Time Machine Recovery (after data recovery)

Several months ago, Disk2 and Disk3 in my 2007 MacPro 1,1 (OSX 10.7.5) became unreadable by the computer. To make matters worse, the Time Machine external backup became equally as unreadable. All at the same time! Drive 1, with the operating system, seems to be unaffected. The two unreadable drives showed up as "media" in disk utility, but didn't show up in Disk Warrior or any other similar programs (partition repairing) using the "terminal." I sent the Time Machine drive (WD Mybook Essential 3Tb) to DataRecovery.com and they found no phyical issues with the drive. There was, however,"Data Corruption in the file tables and data area" (according to the evaluation report). This was corrected and the TM drive was supposedly completely recovered.
Upon receiving the external drive (now replaced by a newer 3Tb Mybook), I replaced disk2 and disk3 with new 1TB drives (formatted with a single partition) and tried to perform a restore for these two drives. No such luck.....The drive was readable by the computer but would not actually enter into "Time Machine." I examined the actual drive and found an inordinate amount of Unix executable files, especially when going into the individual backups. The drive does show that they recovered 870Gb of information, but nothing seems to be readable much less recoverable.
I'm wondering if there is a workaround for any of this or whether I should contact the data recovery people to resolve this. I appreciate any help on this as it's become expensive and a bit deflating.......I still hold out some hope, though. Thanks. The drives were most likely corrupted by a generator that kicks on once a week (automatic maintenance) and temporarily cuts power long enough to turn the computer off...I've since gotten a UPS.

A general look at backup files......

  • Data Recovery of data from laptop hard drives

This hard drive is from a T60 laptop - please read below, thanks
    1. Working laptop with a working hard Download drive ( I know this is the case as if you insert the drive into the laptop , power it on, it loads windows xp, you can use the laptop as per normal without any errors / issues etc )
We have an external hard drive kit ( again which I know that works as I use it to connect a multitude of other hard drives via USB to a desktop PC ) and I have another hard drive kit different to the first USB to SATA hard drive recovery kit and it does the same when trying to access the data off of the laptops hard drive
If I connect the laptop hard drive to my desktop PC it refuses to show up in my computer yet if you right click my computer --> Manage --> Disk Management
The drive shows up in here as un-initialised and if you attempt to initialise the drive it fails stating it has CRC error(s) and it will not assign it a drive letter.
Is there a quick way to access the data on the drive ?
As far as I am aware the drives are not encrypted as when loading after the POST from bios you do not get any blue / purple progress bars loading, these are Windows XP SP 3 so not using bit locker or anything like that.
What do I need to do to get access to the data as quick as possible without doing too many steps or waiting for utils to recover data etc.
Also what do Lenovo do to the hard drives that cause this many head aches ??

Disabled this option in regards to the hard drive password, saved this by pressing F10 and exited the bios until it prompted me for the startup bios password. Powered the laptop off, took the hard drive out and connected it to the desktop pc and it mounted the drive straight off the bat.
What I would like to know then is what does it change on the hard drive to stop you from mounting or accessing the data
I haven't played with the build in security of lenovo for a few years, too much trouble. Basically I think the security chip build into each lenovo will modify certain fields on the harddisk chip. Hence the data are soft 'encrpted' this way. There is an official lenovo software that you can install on the desktop to simulate the security chip, so I guess the data is not hard 'encrpted', just scrambled. When you removed the user password, it probably reset those fields so there is no more scrambling when connected to the desktop
If you turn on security chip, lenovo client security solution, adminstrator password, master password and all those junk, then it will be a different story.
Glad that your problem is solved B-)

  • Recovery of Data Without Backup on Itunes

M iPad froze today showing the USB and ITunes icon on the screen. I restored it and in so doing, did not click back up. I have now lost all my data since the last backup. Can I retrieve this lost data?I have tried recovery  programmes and syncing the device but they recover data from the last backup and nothing after that. Please offer help!I would greatly appreciate it. Really stressed!

It was in recovery mode. Once in recovery mode, there is nothing left on the device to back up, so yes, you lost everything since the last backup. And no, you can not recover lost data that was not backed up. It's gone.

  • Recovery and data preservation

I have a hp pavilion dv 8000. Had a operating system crash. Goes to windows xp prof sTar up screen then asks for safe mode, safe mode with networking etc. selecting any will cause system to reboot and start process over in a perpetual loop. It has two physicla drives. Hitachi. When it was operating ok it had a c drive for software exe. And d drive for data. When I use an adapter to see each drive after removing them, all I see is a f drive for my data on one physical drive and f disk and recovery g disk on the other. Files on recovery seem to be hidden. The operating system xp is corrupt so I should see the c drive, but don,t I want to get some pst files out of c drive. How do it do it Also i made recovery disks about 3 yrs ago. If I use them wil I lose all pst on c drive and data on d drive? NEED HELP!

    Jim,
Thanks for chiming in on a topic where I didn't expect to get many replies. All of your comments are well appreciated. I was basically asking because I was under the impression that unless your master is in RAW format, making adjustments to exposure, contrast and even recovery and black point would not do much and could even be detrimental to things such as skin tone, etc. I like to shoot in RAW for the reason of being able to have more fine control to adjustments, but for everyday shots and portraits I don't always go to RAW format since a lot of the time I have trouble getting the shot right with the manual controls. I also don't want the large RAW files for every shot that I take. Still, a lot of JPEG's need adjustments, even if just minor tweaks. The tweaks I make look fine on the screen, but I wasn't sure if they would look okay when printed out and I didn't want to spend countless hours making adjustments and spend (waste) money on prints that weren't going to come out good.
Anyway, that is the background to my thinking in making this post. Thanks again for chiming in.

  • Dead Drive: Data Recovery?

The hard drive on my MacBook died--my last back up was about 2 months ago (I know, not wise on my part.) I took the machine to the apple store today where they confirmed the drive was dead. I'm under apple care still so they will replace the drive. However, they said that they could not give me back my original drive to take to a data recovery specialist.
They said that if I wanted to do that, I would need to take the drive for data recovery before getting the hard drive replaced by apple or replace the hard drive at my own cost. I need a working machine quickly as it is my sole computer for work/persnal use (right now I am borrowing a super old PC laptop that is not adequate for work) so I can't wait to get my machine fixed until after I try to recovery my data. But, since I'm under apple care, I don't want to have to buy a drive myself just ot keep my old one, which I may or may not even be able to recover data from.
Given these options, I left my computer at the store this afternoon for them to replace the drive. But, now I am having second thoughts and wondering whether I should try to get my data back. They said it would be 3-5 days before they can replace the drive (which they will do on-site), so I think I could likely get the machine back before they replace the drive tomorrow.
My questions are: (1) does anyone know of a way to get the apple store to give me my original drive back after they replace the old one (e.g., talking to a manager, etc.)? I'm a life-long Mac user, but am honeslty a little surprised and annoyed that they have this policy, which puts people with dead drives in the position of either postponing repair or having to pay fo their own repair even when they are under apple care. It's especially annoying as I don't see the benefit to them of keeping a drive if it is truly dead and only potentially useful for the chance of recovering data.
    (2) What would be my options for data recovery if I kept the drive? The data I will lose if I lose the drive (or if it can't be recovered) is moderately important (ie, would be very frustrating to lose but not devistating.) Given this, I don't know if I would even pay the $300 plus it would cost to go to a data recovery place. Is there software out there that is known to be good at data recovery that I could get for less (say $100 or less.) I'm hesitant to go back to the store and ask for my machine back if the only result is that I have to put off getting my drive replaced by a week only to spend $300 plus and possilbly not even get any of my data back.
Any thoughs, advice, suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I apologize for the long post, but am stumped about what to do (and still pretty upset that Apple is making this situation more difficult by iisting on keeping my original dead drive after a repair.)

Thanks so much for the reply. I guess I can see why apple would want to keep the drive maybe to refurbish it, but still it seems odd they don't have an option to pay some fee to keep the old drive. Requiring people to do all data recovery efforts before getting a drive replaced through apple care, with no option to get the original drive back, seems to make already difficult data loss situations even tougher IMO.
If the drive has crashed, it's way beyond any economic sense to try and refurbish it. I would guess that Apple's bulk purchase price on a 5400RPM 160GB drive is probably somewhere in the $50 range. Besides that, I can find several places that sell 160GB for $75-90. When I said that it might cost upwards of $1000+ to recover data if the head has detached, that's because it would have to be taken apart and a new head attached in a "clean room" similar to wafer processing facilities. This wouldn't be the heavily automated procedure (i.e lower cost) used for most production units.
It's just standard operating procedure for the manufacturer/seller to keep warranty replaced parts in exchange for the repair. In many cases, they'll want it to perform failure analysis, especially if it's a warranty replacement from the drive manufacturer.
Even though data recovery costs a lot (and I may not ultimately do it), I am going to get the machine back and replace the dead drive on my own with a new larger one. My original drive was small (160 gigs) and it has been in the back of my mind to upgrade to a larger drive anyway, so after thinking about it, this seems like the best solution. (On that note, if anyone has suggestions for good/affordable internal drives for the MacBook in the 250-320 gig range, please don't hesitate to pass them along.)
Best Buy seems to have a 250GB 5400 RPM Hitachi Travelstar drive on sale this week. I don't know if it would be in stock in a store near you, but you could check.
    http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8699492&type=product&id=1199494484 147
Good luck with the data recovery efforts. Let us know how it turns out.
