Recovery of Photoshop?

My hard drive blew up.
Lost everything including photoshop 9.
No longer have the disk for photoshop, or the registration key or anything.
For some reason, photoshop wan't in my system backup.
How do I get the thing back without having to fork out a second time?

Even if you were willing to fork out you probably couldn't... Adobe doesn't sell old versions.
You should have an account with Adobe where you can go to acquire the serial number that you used to activate the software.
You can download the trial version of the software from the site linked below and then use your serial number to activate it.
Be sure to follow the steps outlined in the Note: Very Important Instructions section on the download pages at this site or else the download will not work properly.

Photoshop CC camera raw 8.5 where is the fill light and recovery buttons
Hi Teresa, you may have worked this out already? but i just downloaded Photoshop CC and I too used the recovery and fill light buttons and couldnt see them in the raw processing window... HOWEVER!! i did some research and they are available!! YAY, you can toggle between the latest and the older layout... and the recovery and fill optoins ARE  there... the link explains it... but when you open some raw files... on the right you should see a little camera - camera calibration button when you click on there the first drop down PROCESS - change to 2012 mode and then click back to the BASIC processing wheel and they will be there... cheers Danni

  • After Photoshop CC 2014 update - Photoshop is very slow (Windows 7)

After updating today to the latest photoshop cc2014 Version, Photoshop starts very slow and is not useable.
    I updated from V. 2014.1.0 to 2014.2.1 20141014.r.257.
Starting Photoshop Needs 6 minutes (before 1.5 minutes). The menue and button reactiontime is more than slow, you cant work with this Setup.
Is there a Problem with the new release?
And please Adobe, dont tell me, my System has a problem. Did only an update on the CC2014 Suite via creative cloud. Old PS Version (2014.1.0)runs great.
After testing a few time, I recovered my System back to Version 2014.1.0 with Windows recovery and Photoshop works good again.
So whats wrong with the new release?

The CC 2014 update  2014.2.1 is a month old and ACR 8.7 is two days old.  Something strange is happening to you.  First try resetting your Photoshop Preferences. This is a Adobe Photoshop User forum your not dealing with Adobe here. You seem to think you are and your attitude seems like you not open to to possibility that your system may have a problem. I think you may have one..

  • Exposure - Photoshop vs Lightroom

    Hi,
    I have the following problem:
On the right side I have a camera raw image opened in Lightroom and the only adjustment is the exposure which is raised by 2 stops.
On the left side the same image opened in Photoshop, using ACR, all settings default (so no adjustments at import, but the image is imported as 16 bits). Then, using the exposure adjustment (under Image menu) I raised the exposure by 2 stops, like in Lightroom.
The difference is that in Lightroom all the details in highlights are retained, whereas in Photoshop are clipped.
I was under the impression that if you import a raw image as 16 bits it will retain all the full dynamic range, or is something I'm doing wrong?
    Full res snapshot here:
    http://www.lightdimension.ro/poze/screenshot.jpg
    Original camera raw image here:
    http://www.lightdimension.ro/poze/Nori_Ranca.396.CR2

Lightrooom has more data available from RAW files, and does some highlight recovery.
Photoshop doesn't have the extra RAW data, and doesn't do highlight recovery.
Technically, what Lightroom does isn't just exposure adjustment - because it automatically includes highlight recovery.

  • .psd recovery software

Hello, my computer crashed while I was working on an important .psd file (PC CS5) and now the file is corrupt. The message says "is not compatible with this version of Photoshop". I've downloaded a few recovery software trials and some don't work at all, some do seem to work but I just can't tell with the amount of trial watermarking. The programs that seem like they might work are $100 and over, I can only afford a few dollars for a solution. I've also tried opening the file on another CS5 PC and a CS4 Mac, I get the same error message. Any solutions besides the obvious? I've been troubleshooting a bit over the past week, I have no back-up and being on Windows 7, there are no 'Previous Versions' of the file. If you have a recovery program that you feel confident with, please message me, I do use Paypal.
    Thanks for your time.

Thank you very much for recommending that plug-in, it did not work though.
Just to add some feedback for the thread, I basically downloaded again the programs I tried about a week ago to tell of my results.
Datanumen’s Advanced PSD recovery Trial = This program produced about 200 separate .psd files during the recovery, half have the ‘not compatible’ error when trying to open them. The other half of the files opened and were basically small slices of my .psd file, anything that had transparency was flattened to a colored background. This was bad for my file, didn’t work.
File Internals PSD Repair Trail = Lets me preview all the layers in my file before repairing. Many look great in the preview. After viewing all of the separate repaired layers which are heavily watermarked, most things with transparency are beat up. So I guess I’m losing hope. Simple pictures and block-like objects look fine (easy to recreate), but the stuff I put all my effort into, like Lasso and healing layers and so on… they are unusable. Costs $100.
PSDRecoveryFree = Shows me all of my layers in a preview. Instruction say, select options for recovery after analysis. The only option for this file is to Send File to Developers and it launches my email with my 60Mb .psd file attached… Kind of large for an attachment.
Office Recovery for Photoshop = This one seems the most promising. It outputs a layered .psd, not multiple files. It even knows what layers were turned off and on and stacks them in order. But there watermarking is so crazy, I can’t tell if the files will come out good or not. Standard License… $150.
At this point I give up. If someone comes along with an idea or low cost product, I’m still interested and will try it. But, I’m moving on. It's a bummer, a lot of work. Thanks for looking and to the ones who posted!

  • No CC launch after Windows 7 Kernel crash possible.

    Dear Photoshop community,
After a kernel crash of windows 7, I am no longer able to launch Photoshop CC 64 bit. After launching, the error message "Adobe Photoshop CC does not function any more" appears and CC must be closed. I tried many things, Reinstallation of CC, Reset of Preferences files in Appdata/Roaming and Appdata/local, deletion of temp files und Windows System recovery but photoshop cc still cannot be started. Before the Kernel Crash of Windows7 I was able to launch CC.
P.S. Still searching for any Launch log on my PC that give me some more details about the launch error....any idea where ?
Please help, my customers waiting für pictures and the Product Support will be available first on Mondays....
    Thanks in advance.

I found an interim solution - deinstalled CC, run a Adobe cleaner, created new administrative windows user und installed CC again. Now CC launches - but not long, after re-configuration of some applications under the new user, the same launch error occurs again. Very annoying....

  • Not a valid photoshop document after time machine recovery and reinstall of photoshop

After a time machine recovery most of my photoshop documents recovered fine, however there are a select few (and my most recent work unfortuantely) that seem corrupt. It isn't all of my documents. Trying to recover them again from back-up doesn't seem to be working. I did have to reinstall photoshop CS4 after the recovery.
I have seen similar questions on here but none of the solutions have worked. I've tried opening with other programs, I've tried changing the file extentions etc. If the files were just corrupt recovering them from time machine should fix the problem. Many thanks if you can assist.

    SaveChaos wrote:
…but it doesn't feel like corrupt files are the problem…
If it's only a few selected files that are misbehaving but others do open without problems, then you do have file corruption in each of those files.
Go back in time machine to the earliest possible date after each file was created and restore only that particular version of the file.
If that doesn't work, then considered the files irretrievably lost.  What kind of error message do they return when you try to open them?
In any event, it's imperative that you check the SMART status of your drive and Repair Drive (or at least Verify Drive) to check for a failing drive.
As an aside, taking a belt-and-suspender approach, it's my practice to supplement Time Machine with a clone of my working drive and daily backups of my files.  For some reason, I've had three Time Machine disks fail on three different Macs and locations in the last six months or so.
I had Time Machine disabled on all my Macs until I decided to give it one more test run on a 65-lb Mac Pro recently.  I'm not convinced one way or another yet, so all other Macs still have TM disabled for now. Time Machine is very intrusive, and the external TM drives run much, much hotter than external storage files—always a troubling sign in my book.

  • How to make photoshop file recovery?

Today Accidentally my photoshop has closed at that time I am working on my demo template work from last 2 months, so again I open my .psd file error prompt “could not complete your request because the file is not compatible with this version of photoshop”.
Several times I tried but it can’t open my .psd file. If anyone faces this type problem or has any solution to solve this I will be very thankful to you, of course its my two months hard work.

You could try this: http://www.photoshop.recoverytoolbox.com/... Recovery Toolbox for Photoshop I haven't tried myself, yet, but you could give the free trial a spin and see what happens. I'd be curious to see the before and after if you do.
    or
If you are using time machine it does a backup every couple hours, so you can get previous versions that way.
As a habit I save my file with a different name every couple hours, just in case a file gets corrupted.

  • How do I disable auto-recovery files from opening every time I open Photoshop?

Hi! I have read several forums about how to disable the auto-recovery feature. However, I don't want to disable the auto-recovery because I like that it saves my work in case of crash. It's just annoying that everytime I open photoshop all those previous files auto open. Is there anyway to make it stop? I read that there is a file that you delete, but will that stop the auto-recovery feature? Thanks in advance for your help!
Oh! It's Photoshop CS 6 and the os is Mountain Lion. Thanks!

On Windows, if Photoshop crashes, the autorecovery files are not cleared. On next launch, Photoshop sees those autorecovery files and reopens them.
When Photoshop closes successfully, it deletes these autorecovery files, and thus on the next launch no recovery files should be opened.
So if your files are continually opening, then Photoshop is in essence crashing every time you close it (assuming you are trying to close Photoshop each time).
May need to look at doing things like recreating the preference files or running Photoshop in a new user.

  • I've lost come photoshop cs 8.0 files and have been told by a recovery company that they can't be saved. Is this true?

I've lost some Photoshop cs 8.0 files and have been told by a recovery company that they can't be saved. I've attached a screen shot of what seems to remain of one of the files.  You will see it has 3 different icons that correspond to it. One a 'thumbnail'; one a 'meta' and one an 'exec' file. I have no idea what this means and whether or not someone more experienced in recovery can tell me if these kinds of files are salvageable.  Any kind of input would be great. I'm not well versed in the language that's probably involved in describing this...

This is where the icons that appear are located - not the original files.
The icons are straggler files.  No your original files would not be located there.  The original files (.app files) would be located inside the Application folder.
In fact - I really don't even know why these icons are still on the computer.
It's because when the files were deleted, you did not use an uninstaller.  I do not use Photoshop, but if it comes with an uninstaller, when using same, the uninstaller gets rid of all the straggler files that are attached to the application.  3rd party uninstallers also get rid of straggler files.
I have no idea what they mean or what their function is.
To know what they do, you should post over in the Adobe Forums: Forum: Adobe Photoshop forum area.  It's where all the Mac Photoshop users hang out.  These users will be able to explain to you which files you can safely remove associated with your "lost" files.

  • Photoshop 7.0 After System Recovery

My computer started this Compaq System Recovery, and every programs I had were deleted and lost. Thank God I still had most of my files. Anyway, as I turned on Photoshop again, it said "Could not complete your request because of missing or invalid personalization information."

  • Photoshop Elements 6 won't work after recovery

After a system recovery on my HP, the Photoshop Elements 6 program will not reinstall.  All other programs are up and running.  The install from the disk appears to be successful, but I don't get the window to enter the serial number.  When I click on the icon, nothing happens.  Uninstall and reinstall results in same situation.  I have Windows Vista 2007.  Adobe gave it a case #184059543, but will not support it due to it being an "old" program.  Please advise.
