Recovery of recording

I was recording an interview using my 5th Gen iPod touch when it suddenly shut down. When I connected it to my iTunes, my recording file isn't there. When I accessed my recording directly in the iPod, it's there but it doesn't play.
What can I do to recover the recording file? I tried using Wondershare Dr. Fone (trial) but it's also not there.
Please help me!

Since Dr Phone cant get it I deem it is gone except maybe  data recovery company can help.

  • Rescue and Recovery 4 DOES NOT RESCUE/COPY LARGE FILES?!

    Hello all,
Thank you in advanced for helping me out/any helpful advice you may have.
    System:
    Windows XP Professional
    T61
    4 GB RAM
2.50 Ghz Dual Core Intel Processor
    120 GB Hard Drive
140m nVidia Quadro video card (256 MB available memory I believe)
    Problem Summary:
I ran into the unlucky computer problem of having a Microsoft.net framework addon for Firefox 3.5.3 result in a fatal interaction leaving me unable to boot up in both safe and normal mode. If you do have this addon, please uninstall it NOW, so that it does not happen to you. There is no current fix or patch for it as far as I know. Luckily, I have the (formerly) fantastic Rescue and Recovery 4 to backup my files and fix things.
So in sequence of what I did:
Tried several different attempts to fix problem to no avail (via google searches on the Rescue and Recovery Browser)
Decided that it would be best to just reformat the drive and start a clean install.
I had not done a real back up recently (several months due to my own carelessness and being busy).
I chose to do a full factory restore using the 'Rescue My Files' option, since I had never done a backup using the included Lenovo Software, I usually just ran my own manual ones in Windows.
To be on the safe side, I just decided to transfer my entire hard drive directory 'C:' to my 500 GB External Western Digital Hard Drive. I know I didn't really NEED all the files (like program files I would just need to reinstall anyway). I just wanted to return my computer to how it was as fast as possible.
Rescue and Recovery registered as copying all my data (rougly 50-60 GB) of data to my external USB Hard Drive.
I then unplugged my External USB Drive From the computer once it said it was complete. Rescue and Recovery proceeds with the factory restore.
Things are going well, factory restore is successful, no problems yet.
Once Windows was functional again and I had remade my usernames and settings just as it was before the crash, I plugged in my External HD again to restore my files.
Every file that I copied was there EXCEPT FOR MY MOST IMPORTANT ONES. It appears the directory, 'C:\Documents and Settings\Justin\My Documents'
    AND
    'C:\Documents and Settings\Justin\Desktop'
DID NOT COPY. I DID A DOUBLE CHECK, and the program said that all files had transferred successfully and I saw the directories on the USB Hard Drive in the Rescue and Recovery View. (I did not do a double check on another windows computer with my USB Hard Drive, however as I did not have access to one at the time and I was trusting in the Lenovo software, which did actually manage to rescue all the files, except for my most important ones.)
    Is there anyway way that:
That because these files were so large (probably account for 50% of all data copied to my external USB Drive or 10-15 GB a piece), that the Rescue and Recovery file simply "passed over them"? The other files appeared to copy perfectly fine.
There was an error with the program, like a file size limit cap that Rescue and Recovery cannot surpass so they were just skipped over?
My own carelessness? Are all the root files not selected when you choose the entire 'C:' Drive as a directory? I did just choose to copy/rescue the entire 'C:' Drive and everything else (besides my two most important files) seemed to copy over so I do not beleive that this is the case.
I did not individually, select each file in the 'C:\Documents and Settings' because I assumed that it would select each of the root files within it. (Is that not the case?)
That the files are 'hiding' somewhere due to their large size?
    Most importantly of all:
IS THERE ANYWAY THAT I CAN RECOVER MY DATA? There is about 2 years worth of photos, music, documents, etc. that I would like to have back that I do not have a recent back up of.
If anything, does anyone know WHY this happened? It was my understanding that Lenovo Rescue and Recovery was some of the best software for emergency crashes out there. And now it has failed me miserably. I'd at least like to know why it happened so that I may not repeat my mistake (or put too much faith in Lenovo) for the future.
I've run some data recovery software but I know it will not recovery all the files that I once had in their state before my hard drive was reformatted back to factory settings.
    Thank you,
    -nofeet3

    Hello , and ARGH !
I AM HAVING THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM RIGHT NOW !
If anybody could help this would really be appreciated .
    Here is the story
    Lenovo SL500
    Windows XP SP3 I think
    Specs maybe not too important
My computer has some corrupted file and will not boot in normal or safe mode . When I try to do either , it starts booting , but before it finishes the load-up-windows screen , it displays an error message which says
    " lsass.exe - System Error
the endpoint format is invalid "
and then goes no further , and the machine simply restarts itself again and would do this indefinitely if I didn't stop it .
SO when it starts booting and shows the Lenovo Logo , I press the Lenovo Help/Tool Button to enter Rescue and Recovery [not sure what version it is , I cannot find information within it] and it gives me the option to Rescue files before recovering the system . I have the same problem as Nofeet3.
It rescues all the small files
BUT WILL NOT RESCUE ANY OF MY IMPORTANT FILES
CERTAINLY IT DOES NOT RESCUE ANYTHING BIG [or bigger than roughly 2mb]
It rescues picture files BUT WILL NOT RESCUE MUSIC FILES !!
It may not even rescue bigger picture files , but I haven't noticed any pictures it has not copied since I can't go through ALL my picture files to see exactly what it has / hasn't copied.
However , not a single music file is copied.
It will NOT show up on the hard drive . What is strange , is when I try to plug the hard drive back in to try and copy the music files again , as I tried it a few times , it asks me if I would like to Write these files over the files already there , as though it has already copied. I check the hard disk , and these fils have definitely NOT copied onto the Disk . They are nowhere to be found .
I don't think the files are hiding , but if they are , maybe somebody could tell me where.
I suspect though that Rescue and Recovery has "recorded"  the files as having been copied , some kind of record , EVEN THOUGH THEY HAVEN'T !! Or if they have , they are absolutely invisible . WEIRD !
    nofeet3
It is NOT because you selected the whole C drive , and is not due to any carelessness on your part. I have selected all files individually , and have tried time and time and time again , when I plug the ext hard drive into my other laptop to see if the files copy , they don't . I have tried this over and over and over again desperately all today , it is not working , even going so far as to select individual files rather than bigger directories to try and transfer in smaller in smaller batches ,just in case it couldn't handle large transfers all at once . That is not the case either . It just simply will not transfer files roughly bigger than 2mb . NO MUSIC !! THIS IS VERY FRUSTRATING !!
I am not sure at present whether this program can rightly be called "Rescue and Recover". It is one of the main reasons I selected Lenovo  , and this is not a good demonstration of it's abilites at all .
    PLEASE HELP ME !!
ANY HELP WOULD BE HIGHLY APPRECIATED !!
Thanks so much in advance for any help anybody can give , and best regards ,
    Carl .

  • Undo tablespace  and instance recovery

Is UNDO tablespace is mandatory during instance recovery. ?
Suppose my undo tablespace has some active transaction and instance crashes making undo tablespace inaccessible.
Will database search for that undo tablespace during startup or I can simply create a new one and set as new undo tablespace ?
    With Regards
    Amt

    Hi,
    >>I am actually confused
Keep in mind that If an Oracle instance crashes, any changes that are made in the SGA are not written to the data files. When you restart the instance, the SMON background process automatically performs instance recovery by performing the following tasks:
    • Rolling forward changes that are made in the online redo log files but not in the data files. Since all the committed transactions are written to the online redo log files, these are successfully recovered as result of rolling forward changes from the online redo log files to the data files.
    • Opening the database. After the database is opened, users can log on and access any data that is not locked by un-recovered transaction.
    • Rolling back all the uncommitted transactions.
In resume, during database recovery, undo records are used to undo any uncommitted changes applied from the redo log to the datafiles.
But if your UNDO tablespace crashed, then you will need recover it, using steps like
    1) shutdown abort (If the instance yet is up)
    2) cp -a /backup/undo01.dbf /u01/oradata (restore the latest recent backup file)
    3) startup mount
    4) recover database or recover datafile '/u01/oradata/undo01.dbf'
    5) alter database open;
In some cases, re-create it, also resolve the problem:

  • Rollback and UNDO

    Hi,
I'm confuse about Rollback and Undo concepts, can some one explain it to me please?
    Felipe :)

This is a copy of a previous post I made some time ago:
There might be confusion while undo and rollback segment terms are used interchangeably in db world. It is due to the compatibility issue of oracle.
    Undo
Oracle Database must have a method of maintaining information that is used to roll back, or undo, changes to the database. Such information consists of records of the actions of transactions, primarily before they are committed. These records are collectively referred to as undo.
    Undo records are used to:
    * Roll back transactions when a ROLLBACK statement is issued
    * Recover the database
    * Provide read consistency
    * Analyze data as of an earlier point in time by using Flashback Query
When a ROLLBACK statement is issued, undo records are used to undo changes that were made to the database by the uncommitted transaction. During database recovery, undo records are used to undo any uncommitted changes applied from the redo log to the datafiles. Undo records provide read consistency by maintaining the before image of the data for users who are accessing the data at the same time that another user is changing it.
    Undo vs Rollback
Earlier releases of Oracle Database used rollback segments to store undo. Oracle9i introduced automatic undo management, which simplifies undo space management by eliminating the complexities associated with rollback segment management. Oracle strongly recommends (Oracle 9i and on words) to use undo tablespace (automatic undo management) to manage undo rather than rollback segments.
To see the undo management mode and other undo related information of database-
    SQL> show parameter undo
    NAME TYPE VALUE
    undo_management string AUTO
    undo_retention integer 900
    undo_tablespace string UNDOTBS1
Since the advent of Oracle9i, less time-consuming and suggested way is—using Automatic Undo Management—in which Oracle Database creates and manages rollback segments (now called “undo segments”) in a special-purpose undo tablespace. Unlike with rollback segments, we don’t need to create or manage individual undo segments—Oracle Database does that for you when you create the undo tablespace. All transactions in an instance share a single undo tablespace. Any executing transaction can consume free space in the undo tablespace, and when the transaction completes, its undo space is freed (depending on how it’s been sized and a few other factors, like undo retention). Thus, space for undo segments is dynamically allocated, consumed, freed, and reused—all under the control of Oracle Database, rather than manual management by someone.
    Switching Rollback to Undo
    1. We have to create an Undo tablespace. Oracle provides a function (10g and up) that provides information on how to size new undo tablespace based on the configuration and usage of the rollback segments in the system.
    DECLARE
    utbsiz_in_MB NUMBER;
    BEGIN
    utbsiz_in_MB ;= DBMS_UNDO_ADV.RBU_MIGRATION;
    end;
    CREATE UNDO TABLESPACE UNDOTBS
    DATAFILE ‘/oradata/dbf/undotbs_1.dbf’
SIZE 100M AUTOEXTEND ON NEXT 10M
    MAXSIZE UNLIMITED RETENTION NOGUARANTEE;
Note: In undo tablespace creation, “SEGMENT SPACE MANAGEMENT AUTO” can not be set
    2.Change system parameters
    SQL> alter system set undo_retention=900 scope=both;
    SQL> alter system set undo_tablespace=UNDOTBS scope=both;
    SQL> alter system set undo_management=AUTO scope=spfile;
    SQL> shutdown immediate
    SQL> startup
UNDO_MANAGEMENT is a static parameter. So database needs to be restarted.

  • Undo tablespace growing fast

    Hello All
We are having issues with undo tablespace growing... the oracle version is 10.2.0.1.0
the table is holding around 400000000 records and this table is also partitioned by range
any reason for this undo tablespace growing by at an high rate
    regards
    Kedar

Undo tablespaces are special tablespaces used solely for storing undo information. You cannot create any other segment types (for example, tables or indexes) in undo tablespaces. Each database contains zero or more undo tablespaces. In automatic undo management mode, each Oracle instance is assigned one (and only one) undo tablespace. Undo data is managed within an undo tablespace using undo segments that are automatically created and maintained by Oracle.
Every Oracle Database must have a method of maintaining information that is used to roll back, or undo, changes to the database. Such information consists of records of the actions of transactions, primarily before they are committed. These records are collectively referred to as undo.
    Undo records are used to:
Roll back transactions when a ROLLBACK statement is issued
    Recover the database
    Provide read consistency
Analyze data as of an earlier point in time by using Oracle Flashback Query
Recover from logical corruptions using Oracle Flashback features
When a ROLLBACK statement is issued, undo records are used to undo changes that were made to the database by the uncommitted transaction. During database recovery, undo records are used to undo any uncommitted changes applied from the redo log to the datafiles. Undo records provide read consistency by maintaining the before image of the data for users who are accessing the data at the same time that another user is changing it.
You confuse TEMP with UNDO tablespace.

    Shiv wrote:
    Hello friends,

    Generally overview
    What Is Undo?
Oracle Database creates and manages information that is used to roll back, or undo, changes to the database.
    What Is the Redo Log?
The most crucial structure for recovery operations is the redo log, which consists of two or more preallocated files that store all changes made to the database as they occur. Every instance of an Oracle Database has an associated redo log to protect the database in case of an instance failure.
    Redo Threads
When speaking in the context of multiple database instances, the redo log for each database instance is also referred to as a redo thread. In typical configurations, only one database instance accesses an Oracle Database, so only one thread is present. In an Oracle Real Application Clusters environment, however, two or more instances concurrently access a single database and each instance has its own thread of redo. A separate redo thread for each instance avoids contention for a single set of redo log files, thereby eliminating a potential performance bottleneck.
This chapter describes how to configure and manage the redo log on a standard single-instance Oracle Database. The thread number can be assumed to be 1 in all discussions and examples of statements. For information about redo log groups in an Oracle Real Application Clusters environment, please refer to Oracle Real Application Clusters Administration and Deployment Guide.
    Redo Log Contents
Redo log files are filled with redo records. A redo record, also called a redo entry, is made up of a group of change vectors, each of which is a description of a change made to a single block in the database. For example, if you change a salary value in an employee table, you generate a redo record containing change vectors that describe changes to the data segment block for the table, the undo segment data block, and the transaction table of the undo segments.
Redo entries record data that you can use to reconstruct all changes made to the database, including the undo segments. Therefore, the redo log also protects rollback data. When you recover the database using redo data, the database reads the change vectors in the redo records and applies the changes to the relevant blocks.
Redo records are buffered in a circular fashion in the redo log buffer of the SGA (see "How Oracle Database Writes to the Redo Log") and are written to one of the redo log files by the Log Writer (LGWR) database background process. Whenever a transaction is committed, LGWR writes the transaction redo records from the redo log buffer of the SGA to a redo log file, and assigns a system change number (SCN) to identify the redo records for each committed transaction. Only when all redo records associated with a given transaction are safely on disk in the online logs is the user process notified that the transaction has been committed.
Redo records can also be written to a redo log file before the corresponding transaction is committed. If the redo log buffer fills, or another transaction commits, LGWR flushes all of the redo log entries in the redo log buffer to a redo log file, even though some redo records may not be committed. If necessary, the database can roll back these changes.

  • Record stop and domain "in recovery" status.

    Hi,
We have a Sun Management Center 3.6.1 in solaris 10, it's install to monitoring the SF25K hardware, it's configure an action by sending an email, into Hardware->Platform Config Reader->Domain->Status.
Yesterday, the system generated 2 messages: "Status Domain E In Recovery".
The admin staff said to me that there was no problem with the domain.
In the alarm tab display a record stop event in that domain. When reviewing in the location where these archives are stored in the SC, there are two record stop generated in the same time to those messages were sent.
Somebody knows any troubleshooing to fix that?
    Thanks in advance.

You should ask Oracle support as you have already took their help. You should take offline backup before doing anything in this situation.
However command is not that difficult (Alter database datafile '......filename with path..' offline drop; ) but ask Oracle support before running it.

    DESCRIPTION
FDERecoveryAgent sends encrypted CoreStorage key recovery information to Apple.  It is run only when
"Store the recovery key with Apple" is selected, and even then only if the information could not be
transmitted when that option was first selected.
Then this means that my mac thinks that the CoreStorage recovery information was NEVER sent to Apple when Encryption first turned on, and hence Apple does not have a copy of it for restoration?  (although it accepted all my info and questions/answers when Filevault turned on.
Firevault is enabled for both my boot partition and my time machine drive.
Recovery volume is in place, and can be booted from.

No, never got any input on the issue.   However the message eventually went away.

  • About OGG-01028 recovery record is missing error

    Hi! everybody,
My enviroment is :windows server 2008 64bit ,oracle 11GR2,goldengate 11.1.1.1.I often meet the error :ogg-01028 recorery record is missing .
In mos,I found the relative article((Doc ID 1094767.1)
    In this Document
    Symptoms
    Cause
    Solution
    References
    Applies to:
    Oracle GoldenGate - Version: 10.4.0.19 to 11.1.1.1.0 - Release: 10.4.0 to 11.1.1
Information in this document applies to any platform.
    Symptoms
    Extract abended with:
2010-05-04 15:42:23 GGS ERROR 190 Recovery record is missing from log with seqno 14496 when extract has reached log with seqno 14497, block size 512, and next_checkpoint RBA at 149274704.
in later OGG version, the error code is like following:
OGG-01028 Recovery record is missing from log with seqno 1934 when extract has reached log with seqno 1935, block size 512, and next_checkpoint RBA at 83962348.
Archive logs 14497 & 14498 exist, and restarting extract failed with same error.
    Cause
The extract was manually stopped and current/next checkpoint is set to a zero length record in redo. This is a very rare condition, and the chance of hitting it is also low. When this extract was restarted, the error occurred. Extract's Current/Next checkpoint is set to a zero length record at the end of a log and on restart this zero length record is skipped as it has no useful data. Since this record is skipped the recovery code thinks this record was missed and generates an error.
    This is bug 12693183, 12693291.
    Solution
This bug is fixed in v11.1.1.1 with patches for bugs 12693183, 12693291.
The following workaround may also be used with no data loss.
Workaround: change the current checkpoint RBA to next block boundary, keep the recovery checkpoint the same
    1. Get block size of your platform.
The block size is shown in the error message.
2010-05-04 15:42:23 GGS ERROR 190 Recovery record is missing from log with seqno 14496 when extract has reached log with seqno 14497, block size 512, and next_checkpoint RBA at 149274704.
For reference the following lists the block size of major platforms:
AIX, Linux, Sun, Windows & VMS: 512 Bytes
    HP-UX, Tru64: 1024 Bytes
    S390, MVS: 4096 Bytes.
    2. Backup the checkpoint file in directory dirchk
    3. info <ext> showch
Get current and recovery checkpoints, example:
EXTRACT EIDLD Last Started 2010-05-04 16:39 Status ABENDED
Checkpoint Lag 01:14:54 (updated 01:14:41 ago)
Log Read Checkpoint Oracle Redo Logs
    2010-05-04 15:24:21 Seqno 14496, RBA 149274704
    Current Checkpoint Detail:
    Read Checkpoint #1
    Oracle Redo Log
Startup Checkpoint (starting position in the data source):
    Sequence #: 14496
    RBA: 149273104
Recovery Checkpoint (position of oldest unprocessed transaction in the data source):
    Sequence #: 14496
    RBA: 149273104
Current Checkpoint (position of last record read in the data source):
    Sequence #: 14496
    RBA: 149274704
    4. Alter both recovery checkpoint and current checkpoint to the start point of next block number
    alter <ext>, extseqno <seq#>, extrba <rba#>
    In the above example:
    SQL> select ceil (149274704/512) * 512 from dual;
    CEIL(149274704/512)*512
    149275136
seq# remains the same as in the showch display.
    ggsci> alter extract <ext>, extseqno 14496, extrba 149275136
If the new rba number is bigger than the current file size of the archivelog file, you have to alter both checkpoint to start from RBA 0 in next seqno file.
For example, if the size of archived log that has seqno 14496 is only 149275000, which is smaller than the new RBA calculated, 149275136, you have to issue the following command
    ggsci> alter extract <ext>, extseqno 14497, extrba 0
    5. Alter the extseqno and extrba of recovery checkpoint back to its original recovery checkpoint position
    In this example,
    ggsci> alter extract <ext>, ioextseqno 14496, ioextrba 149273104
    6. info <ext>, showch
    Confirm the change.
    7. start <ext>
Note: Above example is for extract without threads option. For extract with threads option, "thread <thread#>" is needed for "alter extract " command.
e.g., "ggsci> alter extract <ext>, extseqno 14497, extrba 0" will be "ggsci> alter extract <ext>, thread <n>, extseqno 14497, extrba 0" (here, <n> is the ogg thread number).
My question is :This bug is fixed in v11.1.1.1 with patches for bugs 12693183, 12693291.My goldengate version is 11.1.1.,is it need any patch to avoid the error? If the patch can not resolve the problem ,can I use some utilities ,such as logdump, logmnor to find the relative sql detail when the extract abends.

Well, you have the seqno and RBA (where extract abended, on a zero length record). You could assume that the record before was good to go, and that should give you an idea of the relative SQL. You could also get down and dirty with Logminer, using the SCN as a starting point to find the last good record shown in the trail.

  • Duplicate Record - Perform Manual Recovery

    hi,
I am facing . I will explain the scenario.
I have 10 XML files, each containing 5000 thousands records.
I am writing all the XML file date into database table as below.
         Write operation
    XML Flies      ------------------> Database Tables
[ File Adapter ]     [Database Adapter]
Suppose BPEL is processing arround 500 records of the 1'st file and
rest of them are going into manual recovery.
The problem is when all the files are getting processed again BPEL is
processing first 500 records of 1st file again. As a result duplicated
entries of 500 records are getting created in the database table.
Is there any way, so that BPEL second time starts processing from 501 th
record of the first file ?
    Regards,
    Subhra

    Hi Subhra,
you could configure the FileAdapter debatching to say only raise 100 records at a time as part of one xml payload/BPEL instance. That way on failure less records will need to be retried. Performance may be a little more stable as a result too.
As for on retry getting unique constraint exceptions, I would try using 'merge' instead of 'insert'. Merge does an existence check first and if your payload sizes are 100+ the performance hit is very minimal, as it does a single existence query for all rows at once.
    Thanks
    Steve

  • Callback Manual Recovery record created and never cleared

    Hi Guy's,
I just noticed (meaning its been happening all along) in the Manual Recovery function of BPEL console, that under the 'callback' option, there seems to be an entry in there for most if not all BPEL processes that have ever been invoked. They don't seem to ever clear, and if I perform a manual recovery, this is the output traced to domain.log:

  • Backup and Recovery Tool does not record backup

When I run the Backup and Recovery Tool backup on my OAS mid-tier (Portal/BI), the backup fails because it is unable to start the wireless service, which I am not using.
This would not be a big deal, except the Tool does not record the backup, so I cannot select it to restore.
Is there a way to force the Tools to recognize these backups or stop the Tools from attempting to start the wireless component?

dmctl have an option to backup the configuration only, I dont remember if that's available for that version, but you can check running dcmctl command without parameters, it would show  a big list.
If dont, best way is making a cold backup, stop all process, make backup and start process. Remember to start proceses using dcmctl command, not opmnctl.
    Greetings.

  • User Master Records/Tables - Exporting User tables for Recovery

    Hi there,
Work in the Security area ....Outside of the client export of SCC8 for user master records/roles. Is there another recommended method for saving user tables that can be re-imported on the chance of deletion of users and roles and can be selectively re-imported if needed. For instance if a particular User Grouip was deleted with X number of users, could that be re-imported by a selective means ? SU10 is handled delicately in prod when used but unwanted results still occur. Approaches appreciated ..

    Hi,
    Try the following..
    BAPI_USER_CREATE         Create a User
    BAPI_USER_CREATE1       Create a User
    Hope that helps!
