Recovery Partition Deleted

dv4t-4100
Okay... so Im a complete idiot and i deleted the recovery partition completely.
When I went to restore the computer (using Hp restore disks i bought) I would tap f11 and it would say Starting system restore in the bottom left hand part of the screen.... but after that just a black screen.... i have two of the same computers and the other one loads up the recovery files fine when i restarted the computer.
HELP

If both your machines are the exact same models & hardware you could clone the good hard drive reovery partition to the hard drive which has been deleted.
Personally I would take this opportunity to learn how to setup using windows install disc & make your own backup disc or clone of C drive & be in control yourself.
HP recovery is next to useless really & many tools & tutorials on backing up & cloning drives are available via Google & in the long run a bit of time spent learning now will reward you ten fold in the future ...

    Hello
I have accidentally deleted recovery partition of my compaq presario cq61 (win7 home premium 64bit)  while trying to install another operating system.  Before the accident I had the C drive and the D drive marked Recovery, now after deleted the other operating system I have the C drive and a D drive marked as System.
It's possible to recover this partition from an image back-up I made before?
    Thanks

    Hi Michele,
Recovering the recovery partition is not that likely to be a possibility with a free program. The chances of restoring it from the windows backup is also quite slim.
If your brother's notebook is absolutely identical then using it is a viable solution to the problem.  If it is not identical then it will be a waste of time as the recovery manager itself will refuse to work.
The best option is to use a recovery disk that is made specifically for or created by your notebook. $30.00 is a lot cheaper than purachasing an operating system.
You can backup the current disk partitions with a program like the Paragon program I provided you a link to in an earlier post. At least that way you will have a reliable image of the current situation on your notebook's hard disk.
You can also legally reinstall Windows by using the Microsoft Windows license on the certificate of authenticity on the bottom of your notebook.

  • Satellite T135D-S1324 Recovery partition deleted

    Hello,
The recovery partition has been deleted off my laptop by mistake and as it was being used by another family member, the system is a mess and would like to restore it back to the out-of-box state.
The standard methods (0/F8/F12 keys) recommended by Toshiba do not work as expected, and so the I found the last method is to order recovery media dvd's from Toshiba.
That's where the problem begins, as this laptop was bought in the US and brought over to the UK.
I have found the recovery media needed on the US site, however they do not ship to the UK, nor can I even order it as I would need a US billing address.
And so, I was hoping if anyone could advise me on what options I have.
    Thank you in advance,

In my opinion you should install own OS version. Check Toshiba US download page and check which operating systems are supported. For supported operating systems Toshiba offers all necessary drivers, tools and utilities for download.
Obtain Microsoft installation disc, install OS and later download and install all drivers and Toshiba specific tools and utilities.
OK you must install them one by one but I think you can do it.
F you need some help or assistance you are welcome.

  • HP Pavilion DV6 3122TX recovery partition deleted, need to install windows

    Hi,
I have a Pavilion DV6 3122TX notebook. The system would hang profusely when ever I was accessing any file, no it was not a virus or anything, I found out it was the HD due to error screen at startup "Hard Disk Error, Hard Disk 1(3F1)", I ran all self checks and diagnostics but nothing improved. So I formatted the drive completely deleted all partitions even the internal recoveries and others (my bad).
My recovery disc cannot be read by the laptop, the DVDRom LED blinks for a few seconds then nothing happens, "It says invalid system disk. Replace the disk, and then pres any key blah blah blah ..." The disc is fine I have checked. I changed the boot options to boot from internal CD/DVD.
I need a working windows as a temporary solution as quickly as possible. I cannot install Windows 7  apparently this is due to some lock (turns out it was unable to detect the HDD). Windows XP cannot see the drive due to AHCI driver requirement (can't switch back to IDE) due to BIOS lock. So I tried the AHCI driver slipstream method, now here's my problem I can't find the proper AHCI drivers for my laptop since I cannot login to Win to check with CPUz. Can someone direct me to the right text-mode drivers for this laptop to slipstream into winxp x86 using NliteOS. I'll take the laptop to be fixed to a service centre next month but now I need a solution. Even if you can fix my recovery solution it would be great.
I can access the hard drive using Linux. So the HDD is ok, please do not refer me to change the HDD that is not an option right now. (HDD was the problem)
Sorry for such a long post
    Thanks in advance..

  • Horizon 2e Chinese version. Recovery Partition deleted. Windows can't install!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Hi all
I bought a new Lenovo Horizon 2e, 2 days ago here in China. The OS was Windows 8.1 Chinese version. I researched a bit before and it said that Windows 8.1 Language can be changed so I thought I would be able to change it to English.
I went into the Language settings and there I was supposed to be able to download an English language pack. The option wasn't there and I found out that this version of windows is a single language version. I then thought I will install my own English copy of Windows 8.1. I started the installation and I deleted all the partitions on the harddrive because even the OKR was in Chinese, so no use to keep those. After the point where Windows created all the partitions for the installation and you click next where Windows quick formats the harddrive and goes to the next screen to start copying files, it pops up with error code 0x80070057 and says it cant be formatted. I then tried the same with Windows 7, same thing, then I tried with Windows 10 Technical preview and the same thing happened. I also tried to clean install Windows on a another pc and Backed up the Hardrive and Restore it to the Horizon with Acronis True Image. To no avail. It's as if the bios is not allowing another OS to be installed. There is an option in bios that allows for other operating systems to be installed. This is all enabled. I have no way of recovering the Horizon now. It doesn't come with recovery disks because it has no optical drive. How can I get an operating sytem on it? Please help

  • Recovery Partition mandatory for File Vault and unencrypted TM Backup?

I recently had to setup my Macbook Pro from scratch meaning erasing the whole disk and start from there.
The update to Lion took already place a while ago and I had File Vault active. After making a last backup using
TM I erased the disk and all partitions including Recovery partition and used the Leopard system DVD to boot
    the machine.
From there I used the restore function to restore my TM backup to the MacBook. However, as the drive was
not partioned and not formated, I had to do this manually. Apparently, the recovery process via TM does not include
that. After system recovery, I booted from the Macbook and all apps and configuration seemed ok.
I was a little surprised to see that I was able to do this recovery without being asked for ID and password of the user's File Vault access
or the File Vault recovery key. All I needed was the TM ID and password (which is different from the owners ID and password)
I am not sure if this is supposed to work like this but I looks rather easy to gain access to application an data of another user if that
    is all it takes?
Now booting Lion again, I checked File Vault and noticed it was disabled although it was enabled for quite a while and long time
before I took the latest backup. I could not turn it on, after providing a recovery key and asking me wether I wanted to write it down
or safe it with Apple which I declined I wanted to reboot the notebook to start encryption but stopped saying my partition or volume
would not support File Vault. This was GUID and MacOS Extended Journal partition and volume which to my knowledge would
certainly support File Vault. In fact this is basically what I had before when File Vault was turned on and running.
I called Apple support a few times. The second agent told me that it does not work because there is not recovery partition on my
system but there was when I took the latest backup and I do have other means to get the recovery screen. Anyway it seems that
File Vault required a local Recovery partition and I was wondering if anyone can tell me why this dependency exist. If I write down the
recovery key, why would I need it to be stored on my disk as well?
Also, if anyone has an idea if there is a way of creating a local recovery partition without having to go through the lenghty process of installing
Leopard then upgrade to Lion and install all the apps and configure the OS again, would be great? I assume when I am back on Lion and use the TM
backup for recovery, I probably end up with having the Recovery partition deleted and start from scratch again.
I am a little concerned about the fact that it seems so easy to gain access to a protected backup and that the TM restore process does not include
restoring partition and volumes as well. Who knows how many other dependencies exist and users have to reinstall their system again after recovery.
I was following the recovery instruction of Apple but perhaps someone knows a better way to do this?

Just an update, I went ahead and installed Lion again over the existing TM restored installation using the Lion Update file and at least File Vault is working. Interestingly, I still do not have a Recover partition so obviously something new for Apple Support to learn.

  • 650M Recovery partition

650M Recovery partition delete my disk. How do the terminal command to create a new hidden in the Apple boot partition?

I managed to fix the problem.  First I used Disk Utility to delete the NTFS partition.  It hung during the process, so I quit it, and the partition was deleted anyway.  Next, I used gdisk to change the partition type from 0700 to AF00 and AB00 for the Lion and Recovery partitions respectively.  It worked and I can access the partitions under OSX again.  Thanks, everybody, you've been super helpful.

  • How to delete Windows 8.1 Recovery Partition

No, if I create a USB recovery pen on this system IT DOESN'T SHOW ME AN OPTION TO REMOVE THE ORIGINAL RECOVERY PARTITION. I had to go throgh EASEUS Partition Master to delete recovery and extend drive C and after that couldn't boot as usual. Had to use the recovery pen to go back to the out-of-the-box OS.And of course, the 10Gb recovery partition pops up again ....Now do you understand my problem?....

OK. I know what is going on. That 10Gb partition is indeed related to the new WIMBoot technology and it needs to be there. To be honest you are probably ahead of the game in terms of drive space leaving the WIMBooting in place. Here is a blog article that explains the WIMBoot partitions.http://avisek.pl/translations/installing-windows-8-1-on-asus-t100ta-wimboot/ The important part is this and the two screens after it. rem == 1. • Recovery Partition is deleted after resizing hard drive

I have been playing around with dual booting Ubuntu on my 2011 Macbook Air running Yosemite. I have almost got it set up, though, whenever I delete the Linux partitions and resize my OS X partition; I notice that my Recovery partition always goes missing after I do this when I use diskutil list to look at my partitions and drives.
Does anyone know why this is happening, and what I can do to stop it? Since, as far I know, this should not be happening.
    Thank you,
    TechergyC

That's correct because Gparted does not know anything about Recovery partitions, nor do I know what you are doing when trying to resize a partition using it. This becomes especially tricky now that Yosemite's installation converts the disk from standard partitioning to core storage partitioning. If you are going to install a Linux, then do so and leave it. If you want things to work "normally" then you will need to convert the core storage volume back to a standard HFS+ volume. Frankly, given that OS X is a true Unix OS, I never quite understand the fascination with Linux.

  • Windows 8 Deleted Recovery Partition and Saved but No Boot

    Hi
I ve Hp Pavilion G6 - 2336el , i bought it 5 months before and 2 days before i installed Ubuntu but by mistake ubuntu deleted all partitions (included recovery partition)  and created one for itself.

    Hi!
First of all - sorry for my english.
I have problem with my Lenovo G570.
I make a backup DVD with system by OKR (4DVD). Then by accident i DELETED my recovery partition. When i try to boot from these DVD i get error: "The program cannot restore the system partition because its structure is incorrect ,you may have to recreate the partition to continue".
    My partitions looks like this:
C: New installation of Windows 7 enterprise trial
D: Lenovo (default partition with drivers and backup)
Hidden empty partition where recovery was.
    What should i do now?

one key recover won't work when you delete the hidden partition. there is only one way to fix this issue that is shipping back to service to reset the hdd its default ( lenovo may charge you )
