Recovery Partition redundant in Windows 10?

Hi, I have an Acer V3-371 and I have just upgraded it to Windows 10 and it all works fine. I have created a Recovery Drive on a 32Gb USB pen drive and I also regularly copy the full c:\drive onto a USB WD Elements Backup HDD.
I would now like to delete the 15.25 Healthy (Recovery Partition) on Disk 0 because I believe it to now be redundant, and to use the newly available space to expand the space on the c:\drive by a further 15.25Gb.
I am not experienced at working with drive partitions, please can anyone tell me if the MiniTool Partition Free Tool is suitable for this purpose? Also, does anyone see any flaws in what I am trying to do, or if there are any extra steps that I have overlooked?

Thanks IronFly, things have now moved on and I done it slightly different, I purchased a copy of Paragon Partition Manager 15 Home and deleted the Recovery Partition and added the space to my c:\ drive. At first sight everything appears perfect, I do have a larger c:\ drive, however I now have a different problem, when I attempt to make a fresh recovery drive on my USB pen drive, I get the following error message "We can't create a recovery drive on this PC. Some required files are missing. To troubleshoot problems when your PC can't start. use your Windows installation disc or media"
Because I done a Windows 10 upgrade, I do not have an installation disc and think that I may now have to download an ISO download and do a full re-install?
Unless anyone else has any better ideas?Thanks again

Lost recovery partition and thus windows 7

Through my own fault I lost the trcovery partition and thus my Windows & which came with my E325. Is there a way of getting it?

I’m sorry to hear that you are facing the issue with Windows recovery on ThinkPad E325.
Please try to perform the recovery from think vantage button in the system and follow onscreen instruction, if the think vantage button is not working then you have to purchase the recovery media.
However if it works then you can proceed with Think Vantage rescue and recovery.

Horizon 2e Chinese version. Recovery Partition deleted. Windows can't install!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I bought a new Lenovo Horizon 2e, 2 days ago here in China. The OS was Windows 8.1 Chinese version. I researched a bit before and it said that Windows 8.1 Language can be changed so I thought I would be able to change it to English.
I went into the Language settings and there I was supposed to be able to download an English language pack. The option wasn't there and I found out that this version of windows is a single language version. I then thought I will install my own English copy of Windows 8.1. I started the installation and I deleted all the partitions on the harddrive because even the OKR was in Chinese, so no use to keep those. After the point where Windows created all the partitions for the installation and you click next where Windows quick formats the harddrive and goes to the next screen to start copying files, it pops up with error code 0x80070057 and says it cant be formatted. I then tried the same with Windows 7, same thing, then I tried with Windows 10 Technical preview and the same thing happened. I also tried to clean install Windows on a another pc and Backed up the Hardrive and Restore it to the Horizon with Acronis True Image. To no avail. It's as if the bios is not allowing another OS to be installed. There is an option in bios that allows for other operating systems to be installed. This is all enabled. I have no way of recovering the Horizon now. It doesn't come with recovery disks because it has no optical drive. How can I get an operating sytem on it? Please help

How to find windows version in recovery partition T60

My T60p is running W7. But I don't recall if I upgraded it from XP. I want to reload my operating system because weird things are happening. But I don't want to go back to xp. So, how can I tell which operating system is on the factory recovery partition?

you can't change the content in the Lenovo recovery partition. But windows can allow you to create a similar sort of recovery partition that contains the current windows 8.1.

No, the recovery disks don't rely on anything on the hard drive. From what you say, either you are not booting from the optical drive, or the disks indeed are faulty.
The last I knew, replacement disks were $25. See the sticky at the top of the General Discussion topic for details.
There have been a lot of reports of problems with recovery disks, so I'm a bit surprised that Toshiba won't ship you replacements at no charge. Might be worth another try, and an attempt to get to the next tech level.

Windows Vista recovery partition lost - will toshiba send me discs?

Hi, something happened to my hard drive and the vista recovery partition was erased, so i cannot recover vista. I just bought this laptop 2 months ago and i paid for the OS with it, i have the code of authentication and serial number on the bottom of my laptop, will toshiba send me install discs? i also have the emails from best buy from when i purchased the laptop online.

SOLVED: HP Pavilion dv6-1355dx Windows 7 Recovery Partition Failed, Windows Partition Formatted

Hello everyone. I just joined the community, so I apologize in advance if I am in the wrong place or if I do not supply all the needed information about my computer and problem in this first post.
I have an HP Pavilion dv6-1355dx Entertainment Notebook PC, which came with Windows 7 Home Edition, and an HP Recovery Partition. Today, I decided I wanted to start from scratch, as the system was getting pretty slow, and the User folders were becoming very unorganized. So I followed the instructions found at the HP website and used the program HP Recovery Manager. However, after the Recovery Partition formatted the Windows Partition, and had three minutes left to copy the files into the new partition, a message popped up declaring the recovery failed, and the computer had to be rebooted. So now I have a computer with no operating system on it at all, and the Recovery Partition continues to fail. I have used the Recovery Partition before, and this has never happened.
Has anyone encountered or know of a similar issue? Does anyone know a solution? Am I out of luck, or is there someway to ask HP for a copy of the installation media?

Is it possible to clone/install recovery partition from somewhere?

Hi, hope I got the place for this question right.
I have a GS60 2PC Ghost, and recently I had an accident where my laptop met the ground from a somewhere around 1.70m/5.6ft, I then looked if everything worked right, and from the 3 problems I found, one was the webcam not working, but I just found out why (I was always curious what was that Fn+F6 button), the letter D had stopped working (And somehow it works now), and the touchpad stopped working. 1 week later, while playing GTAV though, I had a BSOD and chkdsk found a irreparable error on the secondary HD (1TB). I couldn't access it anymore, so I bought another one (Which ended up being the same model), tried to backup the old stuff but was unsuccessful, so I just connected the new HD and everything is working now (The touchpad was disconnected, so I connected it again).
Anyway, while trying to do the backup, I noticed 2 partitions on the HD, the second one being the recovery, which I also couldn't save, so now I'm on a new secondary HD with no recovery partition.
My windows is fine, c: has no errors and I do not want to reinstall windows or stuff which was most of the stuff I was finding, my question is:
Is there a tool that can just install a new recovery partition somehow?
Thanks in advance and sorry if this is a repeated question, most of the answers I found seemed to be related to problems and recovery disks to recover windows, which is not what I'm looking for, as this is mostly an inconvenience that will probably give me long headaches sometime in the future.

I used another tool (Recuva) for trying to clone it (I made a rescue bootable USB), and I got 2 different errors on my 2 tries, one as a CRC32 cyclic redundancy error when trying to clone only the recovery partition, and another was something about broken pipe, when doing the normal too, basically, I believe the drive itself is already gone (I really wonder how it worked for a whole week like that...). I also looked at searching for deleted files, and it got some, and then, it stopped. Basically, the hardware seems to die after a minute or so.

I see that you are trying to revert back to Windows 7 after a Windows 8 upgrade. When you upgraded to Windows 8 it changed the recovery partition to the Windows 8 partition.
Any recovery ran on the computer will take it back to the beginning of Windows 8 not Windows 7. To get back to Windows 7 you will need Windows 7 recovery discs.

How to reinstall OSX to a Mac without recovery partition?

I have a 2011 Mac Mini Server that I wiped (including the recovery partition) and installed Windows Server 2008 R2. I'm ready to decomission the device as the emergency database server it was and return it to an OSX machine. I've talked with Apple support and they have been unable to assist me. The last gentleman I talked to from Enterprise Support seemed to think I was out of luck. He told me to buy a USB of Lion and boot from it. This doesn't seem right.
Can I put the disk into target mode and install to that machine? Then it would be as simple as downloading the server software from Apple.

Vista recovery partition

After clean installing Windows 7 on my Pavilion dv5 - Vista, I saved the "Windows.old" folder and the
"Vista recovery partition" on to an external harddrive, before deleting both on my laptop.
I never made any recovery disks, but would like to go back to Vista using the externally saved Vista partition and Windows.old folder.
How can I create recovery disks using the recovery partition / files on my external hard drive??
I do hope that there is a way to do this....

Factory recovery partition on windows 8 in Asus X551CALaptop

I purchased Asus x551CA notebook on 22nd Feb 2014. After about 45 days I formated hard disk partition
on which Activated Windows 8 operating systme was installed.I formatted an repartitioned HDD.
And I installed and uninstalled windows8 and windows 8.1 90 days enterprise evaluation edition. Because of
these link to factory recovery partition is broken.
I have created system image disks which are working to restore system. I forgot how I created these disks. May be
I did control panel>recovery>file history>windows 7 file recovery. So these disks should be System Image Backup.
I think these are not OEM recovery disks. When I insert these disks during reset and refresh I get a message
that "Media you inserted is not valid". And I am able to create system image on second partition of hard disk of
my laptop.I have also got product key of windows 8 by a program jellybean keyfinder.
To restore from discs created by me. I insert a repair disc then I go to UEFI settings. Then I change boot preferences to
boot from DVD. Then I go to Restore form images. Then computer asks me to insert my discs no from 1 to 4. One after the other. Then computer restore to windows 8. It looks alike as it was factory made.
-When I try to create a recovery drive by going to control panel> Recovery >create a recovery drive
Recovery drive dialog box appears but with grayed check box of "copy the recovery partition from PC
to the recovery drive". Please tell me how can it come with not grayed dialog box so that I can copy
recovery partition to USB pen drive? When notebook was new this check box was not grayed and I was able to
copy recovery partition on USB pen drive.
-Since I cannot copy recovery partition to USB therefore I also cannot reset and refresh windows 8 on
the basis of USB. It was working when notebook was new.
-And reset or refresh also not working on the basis of hidden recovery partition. How can it will start
working? It was working when notebook was new.
-I have tried diskpart command do make hidden recovery partition visible. But it becomes invisible
after restart. I used following command

by these commands hidden recovery partition becomes visible and again when I restart laptop it becomes invisible.

When I created a system image using the following command I became able to refresh my PC. May be it was refreshing
on the basis of newly created image.

But it is also not working this time and it gives a message "Drive on which windows is installed is locked unlock it".
May because I installe AVG antivirus it locked the drive.
I also used REAgentC command

Maybe I executed above command once again I used D: instead of F:
And I was able to refresh PC but I was not able to Reset. And I was not able to copy recovery partition on USB

((I am giving images of computer management in first_image no partition was created it was in factory made state. And

in the beginnig instead of D: (130 GB) and F:(128 GB) there was only one partition D:(258 GB) 130+128 GB.
Please tell me answers of following quesions:-
1. Tell me how to regain the link to factory recovery drive.
2. Please tell me how can I refresh and reset PC on the basis of Hidden Factory Recovery Partition. And how can I copy Hidden Factory Recovery Partition on USB and DVDs. I have 16GB USB pen drive and a DVD writer. So I can use these two storage media
only and except these I have 500GB HDD on my laptop.
4. I want to know that Factory recovery partition is useful or not. Should I delete it.

for Windows 8.1. I think I can above thing my other way. If I create new set of DVDs by going to control panel>recovery> file history>System Image Backup. It will create discs for windows 8.1. And I will able to restore system to windows
8.1 by these discs. And for windows 8 I have already discs. But these discs will only work by changing boot options(by choosing UEFI) and image recovery. And reset and refresh functions will not work then in such situation factory recovery partition
will become useless. Then such situation I should delete factory recovery partition as it is useless.
8. At beginnign I also tried AI recovery burner. After trying it for 2-3 days I came to know that AI recovery burner is not for windows 8. There should be a tutorial for these thing so that people like me not waste their time.

I used a software named UNDELETE on my hidden recovery partition to recover it. I get some files by this software. Important thing is that I got a 2.84 GB file named 00eebc9d.rb in dir D:\recovered1\Files Detected by their Signatures\Unknown Application\.rb.
This file may be useful. Please suggest me how can I use these files to reset and refresh my OS. I used some dir commands as follows to get list of these files:
dir /s >f:\list.txt
dir /s /a:s >f:\list2.txt
Some files were system files so these file were not shown by first dir command. So I used second dir command.

Kindly guide me how can I use my hidden recovery partition to reset and refresh by use of these files.

Windows 8.1 update added a recovery partition now the recovery function won't work.

After the latest 8.1 update, an extra recovery partition as added to the C: drive. A few other things got messed up so i decided to reset to factory original. To my surprise the HP Recovery Tools no longer work. If I hit F11 I get a 0xC0000225 error where the device isn't avaialble. I can see the recovery partition with the WINRE partition but I think the computer doesn't know where the partition is. I'm on an DV6-7211 with Windows 8.1 update. Anyway to tell the F11 function where the WINRE drive is? Since HP didn't seem fit to give me recovery media in my box I have no way to revert back to factory original. SInce there is a liscense for Windows 8 included, I don't feel like spending the money to buy a new operting system. Recovery media is way too expesive.

You might try making a Recovery set with the software included on your machine-though it may not work now either. Creating Recovery Media >> Windows 8
