Recovery stuck! Help!

Hello
We've had a power shortage and our server crashed. That put our Exchange database in dirty shutdown. So I've used eseutil /p to repair it:
Checking database integrity.
The database is not up-to-date. This operation may find that this database is corrupt because data from the log files has yet to be placed in the database.
To ensure the database is up-to-date please use the 'Recovery' operation.

And it's stuck there...
What can I do? I've got over 50 employees waiting for their emails since this morning.
Thank you :)

1. Be really really patient since the repair process can take a very long time dependent upon the state of the DB.
2. Once mounted again I would highly recommend that you create a new mailbox DB and then move the mailboxes from the repaired EDB into the NEW mailbox EDB.  While the repaired EDB may operate without issue, historically once a DB has been hard repaired
with a /P you want to get your mailboxes off of it ASAP.
QUESTION:  Before running the /P did you make a MASTER copy of the EDB?
ALTERNATE RECOVERY METHOD
If you really need to get mail up and running and cannot wait any longer then;
You can STOP the repair process and then create a dial-tone database to get your users up a running right away and then once up and operational you can then use a WORKING copy of EDB to do data recovery via  Lucid8's DigiScope
http://www.lucid8.com/product/digiscope.asp to open that offline WORKING copy EDB to recover any missing/delta data into the production exchange server.  To do this you would
1. AFTER YOU MAKE A MASTER COPY OF THE EDB then rename or remove the EDB and associated log files.
Personally I would recommend that you just rename the directory/folder they are in i.e. if they are located in  "U:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V14\Mailbox\Users_A-F"  you would rename the "Users_A-F" to say "Old_Users_A-F" and then
create a new "Users_A-F" directory
2. Then go into the EMC and mount the DB
3. Exchange will tell you that it cannot find the database files and that if you continue you it will create a new blank database
4. Say yes and a new blank database is created and now users can send and receive new emails,
HOWEVER they will not have any of their historical email (yet)
5. Now open that WORKING copy database using Lucid8's DigiScope
http://www.lucid8.com/product/digiscope.asp and restore the historical data into the production server.
NOTE 1: Since the DB is damaged or missing log files DigiScope will give you the option of REPAIRING the database or to do a FORENSIC Mount.  Always try the Forensic Mount first since if possible it will just open the DB so that you
can do a recovery without having to wait for a lengthy repair process.
NOTE 2 : restoration of data from the WORKING copy via DigiScope can be done while users are working within Outlook.

I upgraded to 7.0.4 on my iphone 4s and now it isn't working and itunes states that it is in recovery mode - help - I don't want to do a factory restore!!!!

If you're phone is in recovery mode, then all your data is already wiped off.  you'll need to proceed if you want to use your phone.
However after it is done recovering, you can restore back from your backp.
You do backup on a regular basis right?

  • My iPod touch is stuck in recovery mode, help?

A few hours ago, I tried updating my 5th generation iPod touch to iOS 8. It ran into an error and couldn't update, which left my iPod touch stuck in recovery mode with a screen showing a USB cord pointing to an iTunes symbol. I tried searching for ways to get my iPod out of recovery mode without restoring it to its factory settings, but after a couple hours of seeking, I decided I might as well just restore it. I clicked the restore button, and when it finished, it said that my iPod touch couldn't be restored either. Now, I have no clue what to do. May I have some help?

    That error is covered here:

If iTunes can’t communicate with the update server, you may see one of these messages.

  • IPad Stuck in Recovery Mode - Help!!!!!

Problem 1:  My iPad apps and movies are on an external drive because the space on my iMac internal SSD is only 256GB.  My iTunes Media Folder [500GB of apps and movies] is a lot larger than the internal SSD can hold.  When I plugged in my iPad and tried to update it from the external drive, disaster struck.  All my data, apps, and movies deleted, Gone!!!!!
Problem 2:  The iPad is stuck in an endless Recovery Mode loop.  When I connect the iPad to iTunes a prompt pops up that says “iTunes has detected an iPad in recovery mode. You must restore this iPad before it can be used with iTunes”  When I click OK another prompt pops up that says “Are you sure you want to restore the iPad to its factory settings”  When I click on the Restore and Update button I’m confronted with the following error from iTunes:  “The iPad could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (9)”
When I click OK  I get the same prompt pop up that says “iTunes has detected an iPad in recovery mode. You must restore this iPad before it can be used with iTunes”   It’s an endless loop I can’t  seem to fix.  My iPad is now useless and there is no iOS on it.  Please Help.

As Diavonex said, Error 9 is usually the result of security software getting in the way. Read more about it here: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3694?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US#9
Check your security software and settings as Apple suggests in this post: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3125

Sorry, must pay more attention to the profiles:>) Unfortunately that link is the only one I know of that refers to the recovery mode problem. I'll have another dig around and if I find anything else I'll let you know. The only other thing I can think of is to run Disk Utility repair on your iPod and see if that helps. It's a shot in the dark I'm afraid.
Set up iTunes "not" to open when you connect the iPod.
Enable Disk Use on the iPod
Eject the iPod and shut down iTunes
Reconnect the iPod and open Disk Utility
Click on your iPod in the Utility pane and choose Repair Disk.
Close Disk Utility and open iTunes.

Error 6: All of the steps in this article apply to resolve this issue. Following iTunes for Windows: Troubleshooting security software ( http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3125 ) frequently resolves this error. There may be third-party software installed that modifies your default packet size in Windows by inserting a TcpWindowSize entry into your Registry. If your default packet size is set incorrectly it can cause this error. Contact the manufacturer of the software that installed the packet size modification for assistance.

Also try to delete the ipod software file located in C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPhone Software Updates to make iTunes download a new copy when you connect in recovery mode. Maybe the file stored on your PC is damaged.

  • My phone is stuck on recovery mode help!!!!

so i was updating to ios 7.1.2 on my computer then it was updating then out of no where it got stuck updating it wouldn't do anything the bar was stuck so Ithought why not restarted then it says connect to itunes with lightning cable so I did then nothing itunes don't react ot tell me to restore i did there steps in apples website when stuck but my computer just doesn't react and I know it ain't my computer or cable is because It was just working 30 minutes ago and it recongnized it until this incident plus if i leave it plug for a while it shows an error (0xE8000065) help please!?!?!?

If you followed the instructions exactly as in HT1808 without success, the only thing left to try is the DFU mode:
Power down the iPhone and disconnect from the computer.  Start iTunes on the computer and connect the USB end of the cable.
Hold the power button on the iPhone and connect the other end of the cable, keep holding the power button for three seconds and then press and old the home button also.  Hold both buttons for ten seconds and then release the power button and continue to hold the power button for an additional twenty seconds.  Then release.
You could not be in DFU mode and iTunes should see the iPhone.

  • Iphone 4 Stuck in Recovery, Please help

the iphone "iphone" could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (9).
And i cannot get out of recovery mode now!
Please help i don't know how i can get out of it, I have made a genius bar appointment but the first available time is Sunday
I have tried all sorts of things, putting it into dfu mode, general recovery mode, uninstalled itunes, reinstalled itunes, tried it on my mac and pc.
Everything i can think of but it just wont start
    Thanks
    Craig

Ok lets try this on your Mac:
Find and delete any and all .ipsw files on your Mac, there should only be one, but delete ALL that you find. It should be located here:
    ~/Library/iTunes/iPhone Software Updates
Once that's done, reboot your Mac & launch itunes then, see if you can force the phone into recovery mode, reset first as I described earlier:
Turn your phone off(if you can), if not try to reset: Press the sleep/wake button & home button at the same time, keep pressing until you see the Apple logo, then release. Then, leave the USB cable connected to your computer, but NOT your phone, itunes running, press & hold the home button while connecting the USB cable to your dock connector, continue holding the home button until you see “Connect to iTunes” on the screen. You may now release the home button. iTunes should now display that it has detected your phone in recovery mode, if not quit and reopen iTunes. If you still don’t see the recovery message repeat these steps again. iTunes will give you the option to restore from a backup or set up as new. In your case, select "new".
