Recovery won't work on new upgraded hardrive for L505d-es5025

Recently I was using my computer and got a blank (black)screen on resume from sleep mode. I rebooted and everthing was fine. Then the problem revisited. I took out the hard drive and placed it in a usb enclosure and did a disk check and was unable to fix some of the sectors. I did a format and encounted problems towards the end of the process.It startted giving a clicking sound I then replaced the dsk with a Western Digital Scorpio blue 500 g 5400 rpm( matching the requirements of the previuos drive) Both the recovery disk( the ones I created and the ones I purchased from Toshiba) did an incomplete recovery then would not go pass loading the windows boot file. The screen stays blank and there is no further reading of the disk. I then installed a new Seagate 500 g with the same specs as the disk I am replacing. The recovery program read and started copying files, then it stops and gives a black screen. I restarted the process, and as before, it shows windows loading setup files then goes to a black screen. (note in between tries, I powered down the system, removed the batteries and pressed the power key for 30 seconds)
Is the recovery process not workng because the chipset on the mother board only allows toshiba drives to be installed?
The recovery does not work on new drives and I will have to purchase a retail version of Windows?

The recovery went through but the drivers and the internet access were disabled. I could not open the wireless connection to configure; windows gave a error message that it cannot open that feature. The sounds, sleep and hibernation feature were disabled.
You didn't tell us that before. You told us the recovery didn't happen. What you're encountering there is consistent with restoring to an AFT drive.
You should try installing a new storage driver at that point.

The only problem is I cannot read the license /product key on my Toshiba. ... Comp USA is saying only a retail version or an image of windows seven(using my product key) will work on any newly installed drive for the L505D notebook
The missing key is inconsequential. It doesn't work for the retail version anyway.
If you were to install Windows 7 Home Premium, Microsoft would activate it for you by giving you a key. It was paid for when the computer was purchased. (I have done this myself.)
But it's better to restore the hard disk to its original out-of-the-box contents using Toshiba recovery media. All the drivers and utilities are preinstalled and Windows is preactivated.

Did you folks search here for "advanced format drive"? People have had numerous weird problems with the new advanced format hard drives in older Toshibas. I can't look up all the threads for you. But here is one:

OK I think the problem is probably related to the platform swap and you may need your account re-set. Only Adobe staff can do that. You need to contact Adobe directly using the link below. Use the dropdown menu for boxes (1) & (2) to scroll down the list and choose:

First try a hard reset. To do this, press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.
If still no luck, try downloading another free app from the App Store.

Lastly, try to restore the iPod from a previous backup or restoring it to factory settings.

ITunes search function suddenly won't work, pending iTunes upgrade.

I have an old (2002) 16-bit PC, which won't support an iTunes upgrade. I've tried to upgrade (from 7.1) before, but it crashed the machine (and I lost ALL my music), so I've stayed with 7.1 and until now everything -- including the iTunes store and the search function -- has worked just fine. But suddenly, when I go to the iTunes store to buy new music, it presents an "Upgrade to iTunes 10" screen, and the search function won't work at all. I'm locked out until I upgrade, but I can't upgrade. Help?

Your QT may work fine but is it the most current v7.1.3? This is not to say that this will resolve your problem. You might try to d/l the 10.4.6 combo update and reinstall the upgrade to the system. That might resolve the problem.
I would wait until the new year and then upgrade to iLife07. No sense in buying 06 if 07 is around the corner.
You can downgrade to an earlier version of an app. To downgrade iTunes you would need to remove the receipt from HD>Library>Receipts>iTunesX.pkg. You will also need the .dmg of the version you want to reinstall. Old iTune versions are avalable at http://www.oldapps.com/downloadiTunesmac.php

To downgrade your OS you will need to reload the original OS from the system disks that you have then upgrade to the level that you want.

Help with Adobe Premiere Elements 11 Editor - Won't work after Maverick upgrade

I bought Adobe Elements 11 in March of 2013. It was working fine until upgrading to Maverick. It will not open now. Adobe will not help without a serial number. Apple does not provide serial numbers when you buy directly from the App Store. After 3 hours of trying to unintall and reinstall, no luck. Apple said to call Adobe back, Adobe says to call Apple. Finally just asked Apple to refund me the $85.00. They said said they ‘can’t’ since I’ve ‘had it for so long’ (7 months ?? ). They said the problem was my fault because I didn’t check and make sure Adobe Elements was compatible with Maverick before installing Maverick. I should mention that it states (on the App Store page) that Adobe Elements 11 is "compatible with OS X 10.7.5 or later”.   Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this problem and if any kind of resolution was achieved?   Again, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Safari and iChat won't work after lion upgrade

I just completed an upgrade to lion on my 2010 Mac mini and after reboot, safari won't open a web page..it just gets stuck with the blue loading bar about 1 inch from the left and iChat won't connect either. I've repaired permissions and rebooted several times, checked for 3rd party add-ons and still they won't work. Help! I need Internet again. I'm posting this on my iPad 2 because I can't get safari to load a page or download another browser like chrome or firefox:(

OK... i had a quick look around and it seems many peoples various issues were solved by just restarting their macs a few times... i downloaded the java update from the apple support site and then restarted twice and everything now working perfectly.

The 2.1.3 Software update won't work, the new version of iTunes won't download. Please help.

For several months now I have not been able to find a solution to either of these two problems. When I have the Apple Software Update program open and I click update, it loads for a second and then goes back to the usual page saying to update. It will not update. I have also tried, multiple times, to install the new current version of iTunes and that won't work either. I've tried to repair iTunes by going to Control Panel > Programs > Repair and it still won't work. Please help because I'm trying to download a new app but it requires the new version of iTunes. I am using a Windows Vista and I'm this is for my 4th generation iPod touch.

Did you try simply downloading the latest version of iTunes using the link below and then installing it on top of the older version?

RAW import won't work after OS upgrade

I used to import my digi-cam (Ricoh GX-100) RAW files into iPhoto without any problem, but since I updated to 10.4.11 iPhoto doesn't recognize these RAW .dng files anymore. What can be done about this? Strangely, this particular camera never has been on the supported camera list for iPhoto, but why did RAW import work before and why doesn't it now?
I should add perhaps that the cause for the malfunction could also derive from the usage of Onyx (which I downloaded from the apple-site), which I used for system optimization by clicking on the "prebinding" option - however, most likely this has nothing to do with above problem

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. A lot of users have experienced importing problems after upgrading to Leopard and not just with RAW files.
Since OnyX is not Leopard compatible, there's a beta version available that is, it might have a bearing but I wouldn't bet on it. Try the beta version to re-optimize and see if that helps.
See bdorf's post this this topic on how he fixed his importing issue: http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=6181481#6181481. He hasn't gotten back to me on how he re-installed Leopard but I'm guessing it was an Archive and Install.

TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

Recovery CDS dont work on new HDD

i bought a new hard drive because my original from my laptop went to shits.
the new hdd is in the laptop and i inserted the recovery cd from hp (they are original) and it says
"windows loading files" and then i get an error that says
"The instruction at 0x77a124a9 referenced memory at 0x00000000"
and it restarts and im back to square one. Does my HDD need to be OEM in order for the recovery cds to work ? or am i missing a step that im not doing properly.

also the main reason i want to reinstall windows vista as how it originally came with was because i cant get my webcam to work. after a clean install of win7 ultimate, i cant seem to find a driver from the hp web site that actually works right. I go under device manager and i cant even see where the webcam driver should be at. i want to get the webcam driver to work with the OS i have installed on it right now, which is Win7 Ultimate 32-bit. i tried to install cyberlink webcam and hp mediasmart webcam and both dont work for nothing.

I'm not sure which HDD you used, but I suspect that may be the issue. If you look at your Maintenance and Service Guide, it lists compatible part numbers and descriptions for your notebook. The HDD section is on page 55.

Panasonic KX-p7105 printer won't work on new mac - has disk for Mac OS 9.2

I finally switched to a Mac and am so disappointed that my great laser printer won't work. It prints pages of gibberish. My driver disk is for an older version of mac and won't open. I get a message saying "You can't open the network setup tool because the classic environment is no longer supported." I've since searched the net for drivers and can only find windows versions. Is this hopeless? Should I return my Mac (I'm still within the 14 days and don't want to buy another laser printer).
Any options?

How do we get 3rd Generation Ipod Touch to work on new iMac?

According to Sony's website it should support it..... I have bought 3 of these Sony devices and am very unhappy that they have stopped working after I have updated IOS on IPOD (4g) and Iphone 4S devices.
