Recoverying the unrecoverable - iCloud password

I have an old flip phone. My boss was nice enough to give me an old iPhone 4s he no longer used. Problem is he has 'Find My iPhone' turned on so I cannot reset the phone until it is turned off.
Seems simple right? Nope. Here is where it all gets terrible... and quick! You need to sign into iCloud in order to turn 'Find iPhone' off BUT he can't seem to remember the password. Sure he remember two possible passwords that don't work. Great.
Okay then, what about password recovery? Great idea! Except the fact that the email address used has issues. One of the passwords he provided me for iCloud happens to work for this ancient hotmail account but it tells him that they must be sure it is him that is accessing the account! Man o man what turd storm. So he can't access the recovery email address, so now that option too is out!
So now I have an iPhone that is pretty much useless. The prompt for iCloud pops up constantly.
If anyone knows of a way to wipe this clean so I can start again, I do have my own iTunes account with a password I remember!, I would be extremely appreciative. My boos told me he's pay for it to be reset if this can be done at the Apple store or whatever. I did swing by a local iPhone repair shop and was told there really isn't much of a work around for this. It's an anti-theft device but in this situation it's an anti-everything device!
Thanks,
Ryan

He needs to do this:
Sign in to his iCloud account at www.icloud.com/find.
Click All Devices to open a list of devices linked to their account, then select the device to be removed. It should show a gray dot or the word “Offline” next to the device name.
Click "Remove from Account" to remove the device from their account.
If he doesn't know the password he should go to https://getsupport.apple.com , click' See all products and services', then 'More Products and Services, then 'Apple ID', then 'Other Apple ID Topics' then 'Lost or forgotten Apple ID password'. If he has any problems with that he should try this form: https://www.apple.com/emea/support/itunes/contact.html
Without his doing all this you will not be able to use the phone; there is no way round the block and Apple cannot unblock it for you.

  • IOs 8.1 Mail app keeps asking for iCloud password

Since the update to iOs 8.1 i have a problem with my mailbox.
Every time i want to create a new mail, it asks me for my iCloud password.
This happens on my iPhone (6) and iPad (Air) while im in my iCloud inbox, Gmail inbox, or just the general overview.
Whenever i press the create new mail icon it will ask for my iCloud password.
    - When i give the iCloud password (correct one) it wont ask for it again in the next 15 mins
    - When i dont give the iCloud password (cancel) i can just send mails but it will ask for the password whenever i create a new mail.
    What i did:
    - Remove iCloud account > reboot > Add iCloud account > didnt solve the problem
    - Remove Keychain  > didnt solve the problem
    - Remove iCloud photo's > didnt solve the problem
    - Remove iCloud mail > still asks for the iCloud password.
    - Remove iCloud > solves the problem but i dont want to remove iCloud
    - Disabled all iCloud options, (mail, contacts, etc) > didnt solve the problem
    - Disabled 2 step verification > didnt solve the problem
Everytime i want to create a new mail, u see the phone/pad use the "syncing icon" 3x 5 seconds, maybe a link here?
Anyone else with any ideas that i can try?

That's interesting that it didn't start to happen after a while on your work iPad. I just tried my iPad this evening and I'm getting the same iCloud password popup message when I try to create a new mail or enable "Contacts Only' in Airdrop.
I still think it's a problem with our iCloud accounts. Some flag in the system isn't set or something for some reason. I don't even have mail switched on in my iCloud account so there is no valid reason why Mail.app would try and authenticate to iCloud just because we create a new email.
Signing out of iCloud fixes the issue for me (not that it's a valid long term solution) so that points the finger directly at a setting on my server side iCloud account I think.

  • I can not remember my icloud password.  I would like to recover it but the difficulty is my apple id and Icloud have differnt passwords and the links for recovery all work only to chnage my apple id password.

I can not remember my icloud password.  I would like to recover it but the difficulty is my apple id and icloud have different passwords and the links for recovery all work only to change my apple id password.  SO how do I recover the icloud password?

An Apple ID is used for everything (including this site) and including iCloud. See the quote below from https://appleid.apple.com/
There is no such thing as an iCloud password but it is possible that you have 2 Apple IDs and you are using one of them for iCloud.
An Apple ID is your user name for everything you do with Apple: Shop the iTunes Store, enable iCloud on all your devices, buy from the Apple Online Store, make a reservation at an Apple Retail Store, access the Apple Support website, and more.

  • Is there anyway for me to change my iCloud password when the email associated with it has been banned and i cannot access the emails to change my password.

i need help to see if there is anyway to change my icloud password when the recovery emails are being sent to an email that i no longer have due to microsoft terminating it. The i cloud account is different to the apple id that is being used on the phone and does not allow me to back up or load a backup for my phone as i have to put in the icloud password which i cannot remember. I have tried to factory reset the phone to see if that will wipe the icloud account from the phone to set it up as a new phone but it seems to be permanently 'logged in' even time i try to set it up as a new phone.
Any help would be greatly appreciated as it is becoming very annoying and means i cannot use the phone to back anything up so that the phone can be wiped so it can either be given away or sold.
    Thank you in advance.

Contact Apple and speak to someone in account security.

If it is still using IOS 6:
You can force iPad into Recovery Mode. Follow step 1 to 6 very closely.

  • Apple ID and iCloud Passwords are Not the Same

iCloud uses a different password to login than my Apple ID which I use for iTunes and everything else I do with Apple. Can I change my iCloud password to match my Apple/iTunes ID or will that cause problems like those I've seen noted on forums? OR, is it a good idea to keep the passwords different since my Apple & iTunes ID is connected to my credit card?
Note in Case this Applies: I am running iTunes 11.1 on my MacPro in OS 10.6.8 Snow Leopard and will upgrade to Mountain Lion in October and then Mavericks when it arrives (if stable). I am about to install iOS 7 on my iPhone 4s (64G) and iPad 4 (32G).

Can I jump onto this discussion with a similar problem.
    I updated the OS on iPhone 5 and Ipad to get the latest security updates. Since then I cannot access my icloud account. I have tried changing the password and get to the point were I am sent a verification email and advised to;
"Check your email and look for a verification email from Apple. Click on the Verify Now link and sign in with your new Apple ID and password". Unfortunately there is no "verify now link"
Consequently I can no longer access my account. Any ideas?!

  • I want to update iCloud account with new apple id but don't know password for old apple id.  Plus can no longer receive email at old apple id.  How can I delete the current iCloud account on my iPhone if the previously stated conditions exist?

I want to update iCloud account with new apple id but don't know password for old apple id.  Plus can no longer receive email at old apple id.  How can I delete the current iCloud account on my iPhone if the previously stated conditions exist?

If the old ID is yours, and if it is an earlier version of your current ID, go to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID.  Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change.  Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address.  You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iDevice, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then save any photo stream photos that you wish to keep to your camera roll.  When finished go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud).  Next, go back to https://appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was.  Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.

  • HT204053 Seems my iCloud password is not the same as my iTunes.  Where do I go to reset my iCloud password?  I cannot access anything when prompted to put in my iCloud password because I do NOT KNOW it.  Thanks!

Seems my iCloud password is not the same as my iTunes.  Where do I go to reset my iCloud password?  I cannot access anything when prompted to put in my iCloud password because I do NOT know it.  Thanks!  I've used my iTunes password for everything else Apple does and would like to use the same one for my iCloud.

    Do the following:
Make sure you are signed into iMessage and FaceTime with your current ID.  If they are signed into the old ID, go to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive and Settings>FaceTime, tap the ID, sign out, then sign back in with your current ID.
Then temporarily recreate the old ID by going to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID.  Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change.  (You should not have to verify the old email account so it doesn’t matter if you no longer have access to it.)  Now go to Settings>iCloud, turn off Find My iDevice and enter your current password when prompted (even though it prompts you for the password for your old ID).  Then go to Settings>iCloud, tap Sign Out (or Delete Account if you are not running iOS 8) and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud).  Next, go back to https://appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address back to the way it was.  Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign back in with your current iCloud ID and password (your data will download back to your device).

  • Can I use the same icloud username and password for multiple phones?

I have 6 iphones and wanted to use Apple Configurator to install the same apps on all 6 phones.  Some of the apps though, also require further installation by email.  Can I use the same iCloud username and password for all 6 phones to download the apps and also to configure email or do I need to create 6 different Apple IDs?

If different people will be using these phones, you might be better off using the same Apple ID for the iTunes content...apps, music, etc. on each of these devices, but create different ID's for iCloud on each device. You can use one ID for the iTunes/App store, & a different ID for iCloud. That way, messages, notes, contacts, calendars, etc will be kept separate on each device.

  • My mum set up an iCloud account and forgot the password, and this caused me to create a new account. The new account works for the App Store and all that, but I can't change the initial iCloud account without the password. Help?

My mum set up an iCloud account for my iPhone 4 but forgot the password. This caused me to create a new account, and it can be used for the App Store and iTunes and all that, but I can't change the initial iCloud account (the one my mum made). My device keeps prompting me for the password every few minutes after updating to iOS 8, and I've tried every option possible to retrieve the password, but I don't even know the answers to the security questions and I can't find the password reset email anywhere and I don't know the back up emails my mum used. I literally cannot find any legitimate way to sign out of the initial iCloud account without entering a password (which neither I nor my parents know). Is there a way for me to retreive the password or change to my new account without the password?

  • How can I turn off the iCloud password prompt?

Running OS X 10.10.1, on each login I'm prompted twice for an iCloud password. How can I turn this off?
iCloud is not listed at system preferences / users and groups / login items, which is where I expect to see apps selected as startup apps. See the following screen cap - this is the dialog I'm seeing, which I want to turn off:

If you are using iCloud at all, stay signed in at System Preferences > iCloud.  If you do not stay signed in, all iCloud series will keep prompting you for the password.
