Recreate video/photo effects in Aperture from iMovie

I am wondering if you can either export a photo with the iMovie effects stamped on them, or does anyone know how to apply their settings in Aperture maybe? In particular I would like to recreate the "Old World" and "Bleach Bypass" effects on some of my photos.
I am very familiar with adjusting the contrast, saturation, highlights/shadows etc in Aperture so if anyone knows the triggers/combinations that I can apply to create this same effect on my pictures please let me know! Thanks!

I do know how to do the freeze frame and how to find it but it isn't a high resolution version like I am looking for. FYI

  • Exporting still photos with Ken Burns from iMovie to Keynote

I am new to the Mac and have no experience of iMovie. I am putting together a slide lecture that uses photos and graphics to promote a coffee-table book on conservation issues. The presentation will use manual advance and will be shown to public audiences on large screens. The quality of the projected image is very important so I will be using a high quality Canon projector with a resolution of 1400x1050.
Some images are of landscapes and I want to use the Ken Burns effect that is available in iPhoto and iMovie but, for some unknown reason, not in Keynote. I posted this first with the Keynote Discussion Forum and was advised to move the photos from iPhoto to iMovie, apply the Ken Burns effect in iMovie, and then export to Keynote via Quicktime. My question is, if I do this, will my Ken Burns landscapes retain the same size and quality of projected image as the rest of my Keynote presentation? My impression is that using this process I may lose quality, but I hope I'm wrong. Please advise.

Some background: Importing photos with the Ken Burns checkbox ON causes iMovie to render a video clip from the photo. That's an entirely different process than importing the photo as a "still" image. Unfortunately, Ken Burns and several other rendering routines are vulnerable to factors that sometimes cause them to fail. The disk format can cause failure, third-party software, inadequate video cards and the like. The factors often have nothing to do with iMovie itself.
The same problems can occur when rendering other kinds of clips too, such as themes and special effects. (Ken Burn gets the bad rep because it's where the problems usually occur for users.)
Some of the items you listed in your Library/QuickTime folder are third-party products. There may be others too in the other folders mentioned in the link I posted earlier, so be sure to look in those too. And in iMovie plug-in folders.
Sometimes necessary items are missing that should exist. One I've seen mentioned here occasionally is the QuartzComposer.component, which should reside in your System/Library/QuickTime folder. If it's not there that might cause the problems you see.
Installing/reinstalling the QuickTime 7.1.6 might help. I've seen reports of problems going away after that update. Repeating the update won't hurt.
Have you tried creating a new user account and running iMovie as that user? If iMovie runs okay as that user that suggests a software conflict when you are the user. Unfortunately, if the software is installed in places where it applies to all users it will cause problems for the new user too.
I'd keep trying to find some software component causing trouble for QuickTime/iMovie. It's clear some third-party components have been installed; there might be others. Perhaps stuff related to AVI?

  • Where are all the Video FX and Audio FX from iMovie HD?

Exactly! I tried looking for them, but all I found were: Music and Sound Effects, Photos, Titles, and Transitions.
iMovie HD had things (under "Editing") such as: Video FX and Audio FX, and also had waaay more choices of Titles, and a couple extra Transitions.
Is there a way that I can find all the stuff iMovie HD had on iMovie '08 without using iMovie HD?

Many reviews of iMovie 08 recommend using both iMovie 08 and iMovie 06 (I do).
When iLife 08 is installed, all of the old applications are automatically deleted EXCEPT iMovie 06, because Apple WANTS you to have it.
The Web site below has a good comparison of iMovie 08 and iMovie 06.
    http://www.geethree.com/slick/imovie8.html
Apple includes iMovie 06 as a free download to iLife 08 owners. (THEY WANT YOU TO HAVE IT!)

  • How do I access video in my shared folder from iMovie on my iPad?

I shot video on my iPhone and put it in a shared folder on iCloud. I can access this video on my iPad in the Photo app in the shared folder but this video is not available in iMovie on the same iPad. How do I make this available?
    Thanks!

    Try this reset ....
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
If that doesn't help - try quitting the videos app and restart the iPad.
Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Quit/close open apps by double tapping the home button and the task bar will appear with all of you recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus (-) sign in the upper left corner to close the apps. Restart the iPad. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
No need to completely reset content or restore the device yet.

  • Video footage I've imported from iMovie to Premiere cs6 is missing after the import!  please help!

I initially imported raw video footage from an event that I shot into iMovie 11, but later decided to try an edit the footage in Adobe Premiere CS6.  I successfully imported the iMovie file folder into CS6, then saved and exited the program to work on it after lunch.  When I returned and reopened the file, the footage could not be found.  I attempted to reopen it in iMovie and it came up as a missing file also.  I know it successfully opened in Premiere because I've seen the footage.  I didn't trash anything so it's not in the trash.  Where did my footage go, and how can I retrieve it?

    Hi Ann, Hi JSW,
I looked around a bit and noticed that this same problem sometimes happens in iMovie itself. People lose their media because it gets copied inside the project file itself. If you right click to see the package contents, you might be able to locate the media and copy it to a dedicated folder, then reconnect media to it in Premiere Pro. See this post on the apple website: Source clip missing | Apple Support Communities
    Thanks,
    Kevin

  • Capturing Hi Def Video and transfering XML files from IMovie

...I'm new to Mac, and FCP...worked on AVID for years...I have two questions
I have a new Imac which came with FCP HD...I've hooked up my sony HDR-HC7 camcorder...When I attempt to capture, I cannot seem to find the capture screen, with machine control and mark in/out functions, that is referenced in the user guide. Instead, the capture mode displays a small box and then engages automatically and digitizes from where ever my camcorder happened to be parked. The actual digitize screen has no buttons other than a stop function. Is there some system setting that has to be selected to give you the capture screen with machine control?
The system works perfectly in I-Movie, where I have full machine control....
As a work around I tried to do a rough edit in I Movie and import the project into FCP HD. I was able to export the project, but when I went into FCP and selected import file, it would not open the "XML File.xml" I could see it, but it remained light grey and was not selectable...any thoughts?
    Thanks!

Going back to the first part of your question about capturing HD from a camcorder in FCE:
Importing standard DV into FCE you can set in and out points for importing clips, and FCE controls your camera like in iMovie. If you are importing HD footage to FCE, you can only start importing using the capture control, and FCE will start its capture from where ever the camcorder head is in the video. There are none of the camera control features available like in standard DV and iMovie.

  • MobileMe photos stored in Aperture from other computer

I have two computers, I shot photos on my laptop and posted them to MobileMe, when I opened up the desktop it picked up the MobileMe photos when it synced with the site.  Are those photos stored in my library?  How do I make sure they stay in my Library on the desktop if I kill off the MobileMe gallery later?  I copied the mobileme photos into a new project and now I have doubles in my library, there must be a better way to do this without having to copy them from the laptop and import them over to the desktop.  Any suggestions?

  • How do i share videos to youtube or anywhere from iMovie on the new 2013 December update?

I have spent a lot of time doing a piece of homework that i was going to post on youtube and send the link to my teacher - having done my homework after about 5 hours in total I have found that the new imovie system will not let me share? i know how to do it but it will not respond to me clicking 'share' and there is not 'export' button either  please help?

Open the Movies folder of your User account and drag the iMovie Events folder to your Desktop.
Reinstall iMovie 10 and before launching it drag the iMovie Events folder back into the Movie folder.
Launch iMovie and I hope you won't have to redo your movie.

  • Too much rendering of video files imported from iMovie

I am new to mac so maybe someone can help me out. I imported all my video to my hard drive from iMovie. When I use these files on FCE it always has to render, there is no sound. Just by putting a video clip on the timeline with no effects or anything, it always has to render and there is no sound. When i import video files from another hard drive imported from a different program and i drop it to the timeline, it doesnt have to render and i do hear the sound. How can i fix this?

Hello and welcome to the forum
Listen to Tom; he's one of the chief gurus and most frequent contributors to this forum! Here's how to export your iMovie footage so you can easily use it in FCE:
In iMovie, select Share>QuickTime and choose Expert Settings. On the next screen select Export: Movie to QuickTime Movie and click the Options button. In the resulting Movie Settings window, select DV/DVCPRO-NTSC for video compression and Linear PCM Stereo @48kHz for Sound Settings. Uncheck the Prepare for Internet Streaming box.
Realize that you'll be making an entirely new movie file, around 13GB per hour of standard def footage. Hope you have a big honker of a hard drive!
    Good luck!

  • I imported some 24P HD videos from my DSLR to Aperture but these videos do not show up in iMovie '09 for editing purposes. Although my previous 24P HD Videos from iPhoto '09 show up. Why can't I access these videos stored in Aperture library?

I imported some 24P HD videos from my DSLR to Aperture but these videos do not show up in iMovie '09 for editing purposes. Although my previous 24P HD Videos from iPhoto '09 show up. Why can't I access these videos stored in Aperture library? I assumed that like  the videos in iPhoto, I would be able to access the videos in Aperture through iMovie. Come on Apple! I am starting to get frustrated with your products here. And this is saying a lot when I have been using and loving apple products for the last 4 years.

Hi. My camera is a Canon 600D. And yes my videos are stored in the Aperture library and they are not referenced. Even then I tried to select all the videos in Aperture and clicked 'consolidate masters' and there was a messge that said all 'none of the files are referenced',... so they didn't need consolidating.
I also tried preferences> export> external video editor > choose > iMovie. And then right click on the video to edit with imovie. Even then the video didn't show up in iMovie. It seems like the only option for me is to import the videos directly to iMovie which means there will be two versions of the same file stored in my computer eating up space.
    APPLE. What are you doing?
